I have high expectations every time I go into a new Katie McGarry book and she never disappoints me! I always know that I'm going to get an amazing storyline featuring unique and somewhat complex characters. Her writing is incredibly engaging and never fails to suck me in right from the start. Katie has that special writing formula that is exactly what I need in my books.

Chasing Impossible follows Logan and Abby, who we met in previous books, in a dual pov.

Abby is the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. She sells pot to make ends meet and being the legend, Mozart's daughter, she's damn good at it. Even though she frustrated me with her decisions and actions at times, she has a completely selfless reason for doing what she does. A reason that she keeps secret from everyone in her life. But beyond all that lies an incredibly intelligent girl who longs to live a normal life. I loved Abby so much. She has an incredible heart even though she puts off that tough chick attitude for everyone else. I loved watching her character grow and her personality really stole the show.

Logan is perfect! He's smart, daring, and at times really reckless, but I wouldn't have him any other way. Logan has type 1 diabetes. He doesn't want pity or people treating him any differently, so he keeps this hidden from everyone around him. I understood where Logan was coming from and why he didn't want anyone to know but at the same time I wanted to tell him that there's nothing to be ashamed of. I've never seen this disease addressed in YA before and I think Katie McGarry did an awesome job with it.

I'm so happy that these characters received their own book. They have always had great chemistry as side characters and it was awesome to get to see it straight on. It was fun watching them dance around their feelings, flirt, and play, but it was even better when they finally admitted those feelings! They both challenge the other and bring out the best sides in each other. I loved these two to pieces.

I really hope that 'Chasing Impossible' will eventually be available to everyone because this is a great addition to anyone who has been a fan of the Pushing the Limits series. Thank you to Harlequin Teen and Netgalley for providing me with this copy!

I don't have words to adequately explain how much I loved Chasing Impossible. I feel terrible for anyone who doesn't get to read it. Hopefully the publisher will make it widely available *soon* because it is my #1 favorite read ever.
Each word, every situation, the very special interactions between Abby and Logan...all magic.
Logan was incredible and I loved him. His imperfections only made him more perfect, and so completely relatable.
For Abby, it wasn't her background but her relationships, not her experience but her heart that so completely won me over.
Everyone faces hardship in one degree or another, but for the most part that's all Abby experienced and still she was the most *believably* wonderful person, a girl who made choices carefully, never selfishly. Loved, loved, loved! I believe people like Abby exist - they take what life throws at them and somehow remain good at heart.
I wish every young person struggling with issues could read this. If schools were smart, they'd make it required reading because as the family unit disintegrates, more and more kids will need expert counsel. This book is it, an entertaining, heartfelt, relatable, believable, emotional tale of strength, doing what's right (whatever your particular "right" might be) and surviving.
I've been Katie McGarry fan since her first book, and it astounds me that she just keeps getting better and better.
If you're unable to get this book, grab one of her others. Start with Pushing The Limits and work your way through the whole amazing series. Or grab her newest, Nowhere But Here, but my 2nd fave (after Chasing Impossible, is Take Me On. While her books are related by characters, they each stand alone.
Happy reading!

“I'm right and wrong, moral and immoral, good and bad, a hero and a villain, and I've been just as capable of truth as I have been lies.”

4/5 stars

Abby has a peculiar life. Along with a very peculiar personality. She’s just a teenager and is already a drug dealer for her own reasons, she has a weird relationship with her father and a secret along those lines, and none of her friends know absolutely anything about her, because she’s kept absolutely everything to herself. However, she’s always willing to help out those she can and… try to make it seem like she’s cool with everything when in fact, a lot is going through her head.

And then there is Logan, just a teenage boy who is an adrenaline junkie since all he’s out for is risk, has a medical condition that none of his friends know because he doesn’t want any sort of pity from them, and he truly hasn’t found out who he is apart from being a “sick boy”according to his parents. Yet, he’s always pulling out a joke and making everyone smile, and is detailed in every aspect.

These 2 have absolutely nothing in common except for the fact that.. they’re scared of what others might claim them to be. They’re scared of telling the truth about themselves to anyone because they don’t want to be judged. Well, that and also the huge dilemma they got themselves into after Abby got stuck on an alley and got shot by someone unknown and only Logan saw who it was. But Logan can’t go to the police… he can’t risk losing Abby to juvie, and Abby has her own reasons to not being sent away, and prison might be the least of her concerns. Now they only have 2 options left; either to keep running or face everything as it comes.

—————————

I feel super weirded out that I enjoyed the books that have the lowest rate out of all the series… makes me wonder if I’m on the wrong side or the thousands of other people are. Oh well, we both are entitled to our own opinions and my opinion is that I ENJOYED THIS SO MUCH. THIS LAST BOOK FROM THE SERIES AND THE FIRST ONE WERE MY TOTAL FAVES.

The plot was incredibly fast paced and very very heart warming. I fell in love with the 2 main characters, their interactions, their stories, etc. The book manages to portrait somehow how life can be out in the streets and truly doing whatever it takes to survive even if it’s something you would normally run away from, or something you wouldn’t even want to see in a painting. The timeline was great, absolutely good. Time went by extremely quickly while reading this. And the ending was just perfection as well, I’d say it was a great book for the entire ending of the series.

I was absolutely in LOVE with the romantic relationship. I fell in love with the 2 main characters. The need to protect each other and care for each other regardless of what they knew and how damaging the other person’s secrets could turn the relationship sideways and yet fought for their love was absolutely everything. I normally don’t act crazy around cute/corny scenes because I feel uncomfortable for unknown reasons, but man was this an exception. The tension was great, the interactions and the dialogue between them… the acts of service made me scream and wake up my entire family fr.

Now, the plot was absolutely great. We got to know Abby more, after her showing up since book 3 and I’m super glad it was that way because I kept wondering what was up with her ever since she showed up and I instantly liked her back then, so I’m glad to say that I got to know even more about her, and same thing applies for Logan cause I was somehow predicting he was going to have a book for himself. The the main conflict was trying to figure out who shot Abby without risking their own lives, which was… okay. I didn’t pay much attention to it since I was way more invested into how the relationship evolved but it was still very enjoyable.

Conflict was alright, just basically getting ready for a fight if you ignore the huge family issues stuff. But eh, didn’t find it really interesting at all either.

Once again, I’m super glad I got to know the characters even better and I was not disappointed. Abby is surprisingly… random, she’s cool and super funny and says absolutely anything that comes out of her mind, she truly knows how to crack a joke. And then Logan was a really nice guy as well. Sorry, idk how to fully compliment guys, but what I’m truly trying to say is that he’s great.

Side characters were great too. I managed to see a brief of each and every single character that has showed up in the series, and I’m glad not a single one was skipped. There were just barely a few new ones but they were just as good

It’s a great read and I’d totally suggest reading this one, because maaaan did. I love it. Not sure if you could read the first book and the last one from the series since those are the ones I enjoyed the most but they have like 3 books in-between… but if you’re willing to do so, go right ahead, I won’t stop you at all. Once again, a great ending for a nice series.

Let's be honest here: my rating is strictly subjective because Katie McGarry is one of my all-time-favorite authors.
Her writing style is exactly what I'm looking for in my books: captivating but beautiful with quotes you just want to copy and paste in your brain so you could remember them for ever. It is also poetic at times.

This story follows two characters that we already met in previous books in the series: Abby and Logan.

Abby is a girl who doesn't like to let anyone in. That's one of the rules she lives by.
She is also a pot-dealer and she is doing it because she has a good reason for it, the reason she doesn't want anyone to find out.

Logan is a boy with a secret. A secret he wants no one to ever found out so nobody would see he isn't strong as people assume he is..

I liked Abby in previous books. In this book when we get a closer look at her charater, she is still likeable, but man, she got on my nerves sometimes.
I get that she wants for people to look at her and see this tuff girl that can scare people, but I think she overrated her ability to scare people.
Maybe author mispercepted her too.

Logan was a likeable character and there is nothing I would change about him, but would like to tell him there is no shame in being sick. But I understand why he kept his secret.

This book is written in two POVs, just like all books in Pushing the Limits series.
Although I liked how the author gave us a better perspective in both characters lives, I have to admit that the tone those POVs were written was really, really similar, if not the same.
The plot was interesting but sometimes I had a feeling there was too much drama going on.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this novel.
It was a great last book in the series although it didn't feel like it was the end.
Maybe we should keep our eyes open if Katie McGarry decides to write another book or novella in the series.
I wouldn't mind, and I bet you wouldn't either! ;)

It was great seeing Abby finally get her happy ending! When I started reading, I wasn't sure how much I would like being in her head - the choices she kept making were frustrating - but I loved her growth and enjoyed seeing the funny, carefree, and energetic sides to her personality come out more and more. Logan is a complete sweetheart. I couldn't have been more excited when I found out he'd be the one paired with Abby because I knew they'd make a great match. He's reckless and charming like her, but they bring out each other's softer sides. Logan also has type 1 diabetes, something I don't believe I've seen addressed in YA, and Katie McGarry handles it wonderfully.

As always, Katie's stories are first and foremost a romance, and, as always, she makes me believe in the love story wholeheartedly. Logan and Abby have a push-pull dynamic that is perfect for them, but it's even better when they finally admit to their feelings. I especially love the way Logan never gave up on Abby and was willing to put everything on the line for her. This time around, the characters are facing Abby's involvement in her dad's "business", which is selling drugs. I was very curious to see how she'd get out of her situation and find that elusive happy ending, and I think Katie takes it in an unexpected, believable direction.

I'm not sure if Chasing Impossible will ever be made available for purchase, but I sincerely hope so since fans of the Pushing the Limits series won't want to miss out on finally getting Abby's story. I think this may be the last we see of these characters, and I will sincerely miss every single one of them (*cough*Ryan*cough*).

Unfortunately, this was not as good as I was hoping it would be. I feel like I've been waiting for Abby and Logan's story to be written FOREVER, so I was pretty hyped up that McGarry was finally releasing this long-awaited addition to the Pushing the Limits series, and maybe that was the problem. But this book just had a different kind of feel from the other PtL books, and you could kind of tell that McGarry is pretty over this series and ready for these characters to be all wrapped up.

I didn't like that, unlike all the other books except for Echo and Noah's sequel, this book didn't have a theme. You know, art, baseball, racing, MMA...there's always some kind of interesting "thing" about the characters that we get to learn about. But, unless you count Abby's drug dealing or Logan's diabetes, there is nothing like that in Chasing Impossible, so it didn't really feel like a real Pushing the Limits addition.

Speaking of which, Logan's diabetes was just annoying. Not to offend people with diabetes, but he seriously went on and on about it and kept comparing it to Abby's drug dealing, like the two are similar at all. Type 2 diabetes has become such a common problem (although Logan obviously has Type 1) that I think most people understand what it is, and how it's not a huge deal as long as you properly manage it.

But Logan is constantly not taking care of himself, and he's all worried that people are going to think he's "different" and not treat him the same if they learn about his condition. Once he finally ends up revealing his "secret," all of his friends are like, "Diabetes?? What's that? Oh my god, are you going to DIE?" It's like they've never even heard of it. So weird. And then they do start treating him differently, even though none of them know what it is. The whole thing just made no sense and was so overblown.

And then, once Abby finds out that he has diabetes, she spends the rest of the book trying to convince him to get an insulin pump! I was shocked that this was included. In the world of diabetes, insulin pumps are sort of seen as....giving up. Like, if you can't eat right and remember to test yourself, then you have to get an insulin pump because it's too hard for you to manage it yourself. It made me really mad that Logan even considers this, and made me think that he was just lazy and didn't want to go through all of the effort to take care of himself. But I'm more thinking that McGarry hadn't researched this properly, because the whole thing was wrong and seemed really out of character for both him and Abby.

I also really didn't like how everything was wrapped up with Abby's part of the story. Things ended up way too hunky-dory, which was just kind of hard to believe.

I'm glad that I stuck around this series long enough to finally get to find out what happened to Abby and Logan, but I'm disappointed that McGarry didn't put more effort into this book — the fans of this series and the characters deserved better. Honestly, the only books I truly loved in this series were Dare to You and Crash Into You. After having now read all of them, I'm starting to think that those rare amazing moments are more of a fluke than anything else.

As much as I love and adore Katie McGarry, I have to admit I was a little nervous about Abby's story. I never really warmed to her as a secondary character in the previous books of the Pushing the Limits series. Naturally, McGarry worked her magic and I found myself completely invested and pulling so hard for Abby to find a way out of the life she was living. Abby has always been kind of a mysterious character so it was satisfying to finally get her story and understand her motivations. She had a lot of weight on her young shoulders and was immersed in a dangerous way of life in order to take care of responsibilities that were staggering for a girl her age. Abby was such a strong character and intensely private. Other than Isaiah, she kept everyone at arm’s length - not only to protect herself but because she knew that letting anyone get close could endanger them as well.

Logan was another character who much wasn't known about his background, other than he was a guy who was something of a daredevil and he was intrigued by Abby. Logan had his own secret and while I didn't necessarily understand his insistence on keeping it from his friends, I still empathized with him and his struggle to find balance in his life. As he and Abby grew closer it began to change both their lives. I loved how Abby started to allow herself to finally open up to someone and let her guard down. When she is caught in a dangerous situation where a wrong move could cost her her life, Logan is determined to help despite Abby's efforts to keep him away from that part of her life. As always with McGarry's characters, Abby found herself faced with impossible decisions and my heart ached for a happy ending for this girl.

Katie McGarry never, ever disappoints and I always find myself completely immersed in her character's struggles. Abby and Logan weren't characters that I connected to as strongly as others in the series, but this was still a completely engaging read from one of my favorite authors.

It was wonderful to finally get Abby's background, and learn all her mysterious ways. Even though what goes on in her mind is quite sad, I am so glad I got to read it. She is so strong, and even when the world tells her no, she tells them to fuck themselves and does it anyway. It's impossible not to love her and she and Logan's romance was the perfect ending to this fantastic series.

It's not my favourite of the series (that honour goes to Pushing the Limits and Crash Into You), but was still a great addition. I would definitely recommend this to any lovers of contemporary and Katie McGarry.

I'd like to thank Harlequin Teen for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review. I won a copy of this book through a contest!

I will say that McGarry really does get me every time. I go into her book hoping to like it (though I don't know why I would only hope to do so) and come out the other end a blubbering mess of emotions and with a full heart. I don't think she can write a story that doesn't touch me so deeply I want to devour it. This book was no exception. I loved Abby in all McGarry's other books and when I heard she was getting her own story I sort of freaked out! I am wondering why it took me so long to read it. I've come to the conclusion that this whole series is almost a physical part of my being and reading more and more books from it only puts me closer to it being over. And I don't want it to end: EVER!

Abby, what can I say. This chick is tough as nails. She does not let a single thing get by her. But I knew this from the other books in this series. She's also very closed off and not willing to let herself be emotional with anyone. Well, maybe she gives a little where Rachel is concerned, but other than that, she likes to keep her distance. So being around Logan and being attracted to him, even falling for him, is very much not in her plans. Of course plans don't always work out as we think they will. I loved Abby's development in this book. She starts out believing she can never be anything more than a drug dealer; that she can never do anything but follow in her father's footsteps. As the book progresses and her friendships do the same, she sees that it's not impossible to chase something else and get there. Her life becomes about redemption and forgiveness and moving on to something better.

And Logan, oh my goodness, Logan. I swoon every time I even think of him. Can McGarry write a guy that people don't like, NOPE I don't think so. Logan is smart, brilliant, in fact, but he's also a bit crazy. He likes the rush of adrenaline he gets when he races a car, or climbs a tall tree, or just does something that is out of the ordinary. But Logan has demons he hides, just as Abby does. And he hasn't let anyone see that side of him. Falling for Abby was not out of the question, it was just a matter of how far he'd let it go before he could no longer handle her chosen profession. But Logan takes risks, sometimes to his detriment, and Abby is no exception. He's fiercely loyal when he sets his sites on someone he cares for be it Abby or any of his friends. I love this about him. He also is a bit arrogant, but never in a way that makes him a turn off. If anything, his charisma and self-confidence only make him that much more attractive!

I will say the plot of this novel made me a bit itchy. I don't know anything about the world of drugs and I never really want to learn. But McGarry paints a pretty clear picture of the things that can happen when drugs get a hold of you (either physically or emotionally) and take you under. Experiencing this through the eyes of a 17 year old girl was heart breaking. It was also scary to think she had to deal with these people and to see how she had to keep her distance from anyone she might care for for fear of them being hurt. I don't think I could ever live that way, even if it was because I had to have money for something I was keeping secret.

Of course this series would not be what it is if we didn't see all the characters we love. And appear they do, all throughout the book. We even meet a few new faces that I think would make a great addition to this series of books in the future!

And McGarry's writing, well, it speaks for itself. I don't know how she does it, but every word, every sentence and paragraph keep you wanting more. There is so much emotion in her writing sometimes I have to pause, take a deep breath and sit for a minute before reading on. It's intense and soul sucking, both in a very good way. I don't think she could ever write anything I didn't want to read. I'm a fan of hers for life.

If you've enjoyed any of her other books, this one will not be an exception. I will say that my heart still belongs to West and Haley, because it's just where it is but Logan and Abby hold a special place as well. I can see other story possibilities out there for this series and that makes me happy, of course McGarry has to decide to write any of that and if she does, I'll be the first one to jump in with both feet! A wondrous exploration of fear and hope and of possibilities when you think there are none, Chasing Impossible will make you route for Logan and Abby to the very end!

Added to favorites. I'm in love. There are no words. This group is friendship goals and Isaiah and Logan are everything to me.

***

Dammit, I shouldn't have left so many time pass. I had so many things to say and now I can't remember half of them.

I won't be able to express myself like I wanted but I'll do my best because this book meant a lot to me.

The Pushing the Limits squad is friendship goals. I just love these boys so much and seeing them all together in one single book did things to me.

Isaiah was such a big part of this story and I couldn't be happier about it! I love Isaiah so, so, so damn much. He's an amazing guy and and true friend and I just love him to pieces.

And Logan!! My second favorite. My bat shit crazy, sweet and amazing boy. I adore Logan with all my heart.

Still about him, one thing that surprised and that I loved was his relationship with his parents. He tells them everything and that's not usual. They have a strange and different relationship from those parents/sons/daughters relationships I'm use to.

I also really like Abby. I wanted to shake some sense into her sometimes but she's my favorite girl from the series.

One of my favorite scenes was when the boys and Abby went to work on the hay on Chris's granddad's land. I loved having them all together, being amazing and charing things and having fun. They're such amazing friends.

My other favorite scene was the end. It left like a goodbye and I don't like it, it makes me sad, but it was so beautiful. All the couples together, all the friends... I'm so jealous.

My heart... This can't be the end I want more. My babies are all so different and grown up.

My sweet Noah engaged to Echo. <3

My dear, sexy Isaiah and Logan with so much ahead of them. <3

They deserve everything good.

One last thing... One last person that deserves to be mention and I don't thing I ever gave her the credit that she deserves. Mrs. Collins. Thank you so much for helping all my babes.

I hope we'll get more books. I'm not okay with this being the end of it.

He was a boy (with problems) she was a girl (with even more problems) can I make it any more obvious?

I don't know when Katie McGarry's whole girl/boy-from-wrong-side-of-the-tracks-tries-to-come-clean narrative started getting dull for me, but apparently it has. Which is sad, because I genuinely enjoy(ed) her books.

Yes, Chasing Impossible is pretty well written. I loved the characters and, having read all the companion novels, it was nice seeing them all become friends and start to trust one another despite some vastly different backgrounds.

I loved the characters and sympathised with their problems, but at the same time - I wasn't emotionally invested. I wasn't invested in Logan and Abby's relationship, and although I was rooting for Abby, there was none of the heartbreak or elation or feelings I had felt in other books, for other characters. In some ways, it felt like I had read it all before, over and over. I knew things were going to turn out well, and so I was never fully drawn into the story.

I wanted to love this book but it just ended up being Meh! I didn't like Abby and I didn't mind Logan. I don't think a book is complete without having a connection or admiration for the characters.

2 Estrellas!

Chasing Impossible is the fifth and final book in the Pushing the Limits series.

It is has been four years since I read book four. Although I did read Breaking the Rules (#1.5) earlier this year. I have enjoyed this series. So I'm not sure why it has taken me this long to read the final book.

This is Abby's story. The book alternates between her first person POV and Logan's POV.

Logan's best friends are Chris and Ryan. Abby's best friends are Rachel and Isaiah. Abby deals drugs. But we never knew her backstory.

Abby, Logan and Rachel are going to start their senior year of high school. Most of the others have already graduated. Abby is 17 and Logan is 18. I would classify this book as mature YA.

This book takes place shortly after Rachel and Isaiah's book (#3 Crash into You).

Abby is extremely troubled. I really had a hard time liking her. So it took me a while to get into this story. The book is so serious. Abby is in trouble. She deals pot and we find out why.

Because of Abby's story this book is very hard to read. This is definitely not a cute YA romance. Abby is a tough girl forced into a really hard life. I hated her situation. The story is not pretty and thus it was a bit of a difficult read.

The story takes place in Louisville, Kentucky.

Logan was an interesting character. I didn't remember too much about him (since it's been so long since I read the previous books). But he was an interesting character.

The author does include past favorite characters. Rachel and Isaiah are in it a fair amount. Ryan, West and Noah are in it a bit. I was disappointed that Echo wasn't really a part of the story. But I guess the timeline just didn't work.

Overall, I didn't love the beginning of the story, but that was mostly due to the drug dealing aspect of the story. The book definitely got a lot better. And I liked where the story went. It was nice to finally get Abby's story. And it was nice to get to see some of the characters from the previous books again.

I was interested in reading Abby's story ever since she made her appearance in Isaiah and West's stories. I wish I hadn't bothered. The entire drug dealing business made me feel uncomfortable and the events that unfolded were over the top. It was something new though. I couldn't bring myself to like Abby, who was always pushing help away. Her romance with Logan was unconvincing, and I still think Logan was drawn to her physically, despite Abby trusting him with her secret/reason for dealing. Logan's struggle with diabetics was interesting. However, I found myself wanting the story to be over by the time I was quite disappointed with Chasing Impossible. It just wasn't my type of story. I didn't feel anything for the characters, except respect for Isaiah and the crew for standing by Abby the entire time.

DNF @ 38%. I jumped through all the hoops to get this limited release of Abby's story. I wanted it. I was sure I'd love it. I tried. But it's such a snore. I'm bored to tears. It's time to quit.

Salve lettrici.

Abby had never been one of my favorites, but I really liked Logan and I was intrigued to see how they got together.

As we got Abby's back story, I started liking her a lot more. She's got a lot of layers and it was nice to see underneath some of them. Logan is just as much of a smart ass as she it and seeing them interact was delightful.

All in all, it was a quick read and I loved the ending. As well as getting to see other favorites {like Isaiah and Rachel}.

"I personaggi.
