imagine the smile on my face when i realised i could count these towards my reading goal to make myself look better…. exhilarating feeling

(also just need everyone to know i had the option to log every single short story separately instead of in volumes to take the piss but i didn’t and i think that shows great maturity 😌)

Very interesting to get insight into Ellie’s life after what happened in Broadchurch.
I also love getting more insight into Maggies and Jocelyn’s life as we don’t see much of it in Broadchurch.

Seeing Tess‘ version of Sandbrook/ her failing relationship with Alec/ her affair with Dave is very interesting as we only get to know Alec’s side of the story in Broadchurch itself.
I still think she is a piece of shit but it’s nice to see she cares about Daisy after all. Alec deserves way better than her.
If Tess Henchard has zero haters I’m dead

Σε καμία περίπτωση δεν αποδίδεται η ένταση της πλοκής που παρακολουθουμε στην τηλεοπτική σειρά με αυτήν στο βιβλίο. Άτονο, άοσμο, αδιάφορο...Κρίμα!

A Who done it. Not my favorite genre. Also, because it's a BBC drama, a lot of the language was sort of hard to understand. It's practically word for word the same as the Netflix mini series. If you want a visual instead.

Companion stories to the first four episodes of Broadchurch’s uneven second season, these tales do a nice job of filling in some holes. The four stories focus on Ellie, Maggie, Jocelyn, and Tess, and I liked the humanity it gave the characters, particularly Tess. My biggest quibble would be that the timeline for Jocelyn’s tale didn’t mesh with what we learned about Jack Marshall during the first season, although, overlooking that, in some ways I found it the most moving of the tales. I admit I'm pretty biased. I really liked the stories focused on Ellie and Alec. The others were, eh, okay and I could see how they provided background but I wasn't really interested.

My biggest gripe was that, on my kindle addition, only 70% were new short stories and the last was a preview of the novel. It's only a little annoying in the grand scheme of things but still annoying.

Meh. It's nice to see the characters and it does offer some mild insight into the thoughts of some of the characters and some of the plot of the TV series but it doesn't really stand up as a stand-alone read.
