Kathy, Fuchs and Merlin are now exploring the savannah, looking for the Remington expedition. With them is Tom, the young native guide - and sole apparent survivor - of the American writer's party, who recounts the terrifying events that led him to run away. When Kathy and her companions finally discover Remington's base camp, though, they find no trace of unusual animals - or bodies. But they're quickly confronted to a series of increasingly weird events.
Following directly after the first album, Apparitions, Encounters opens by revealing what happened to the lost expedition (at least in part), as Katherine Austin and her companions continue their investigation into this mystery as well as that of strange animals and flying lights in the sky. The plot thickens and different narrative strands are slowly coming together, as the character gallery expands (at the very least in depth).
All in all, a good continuation of the first album, and one that keeps me interested in the unfolding story.
The thrilling narrative resumes and we follow the two timelines,
One about the missig American party of what happened to them after they faced the huge other wordly animal from a survivor from the party And the other about the present day investigation of that missing party and the new team's visit to the destroyed camps of the former
The artwork of the other wordly monsters are quite creepy and astounding...
See volume one for comments. I’m glad to have persevered. The action is taking off now with some really good imagination here. Still some intrusive and unnecessary toxic sexuality, but the central themes previously identified are working well.
Better than the first part. The plot thickens, there are some answers to questions raised in the first part, while new things are set in motion. There is a lot of suspense going on, as well as proper horror moments. Makes me immediately want to read the next part.
