Stockbroker Juliette Bishop gets more than she bargained for when she flies to New Orleans to handle a business matter for her ailing father and comes face to face with her former lover, the handsome, yet mysterious Andre Lescarbeau.
* This Sweetblood World short story (dark vampire romance) was originally published in the Mammoth Book of Southern Gothic Romance.
This short story first appeared in the Mammoth Book of Southern Gothic Romance, so if you picked that up, there's no need to buy this. There are a few slight changes, but nothing major.
Two things. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy the vampires in this world and that cover is verrrrrra nice. *rubs hands together and admires the sexy*
So. Juliette and Andre have a sort of complicated relationship. I say sort of because she doesn't know he's a vamp and he might have done something a little questionable when ending things with her. I mean, I guess it wasn't questionable when you take into account that he was doing what he thought he needed to do to keep himself and her safe, but... no, it's still a little underhanded. If he hadn't been torn up about doing it, he would have lost some major hero points.
But he was, so he didn't and what were we talking about again? *enjoys being purposefully vague*
Anyway. Vampires. Sometimes they just hit the spot, you know? These particular vamps do it for me.
Kindly provided by the author with an ARC in exchange for an honest review......
This review requires so little to get my fellow GR buddies in the mood for some HOT paranormal romance.....are we ready.....
Vampire and human with her alluring blood......
This story evolves around Dominic our leading guy and Vampire extraordinaire and McKenzie our heroine who is becoming increasing alarmed that her relatives are disappearing one by one for no reason....or is there ?
I am a serious paranormal junky and this story did not disappoint. There is a very well written plot, good character dialogue, hot passion.....yup, I was one happy lady.
4 I want to be your "sweetblood" and stay with you forever Stars.
Many thanks for this opportunity Laurie and well done.
I typically am not a huge fan of short stories- I don't feel that there is enough time for a story to develop. Enticed by Blood, however, is an exception- it was fast paced and drew me in immediately. Juliette and Andre already had a connection, so the story was able to jump right in to the action. For those who haven't read the series, they may feel as though they are missing something, but for the most part, one can certainly read Enticed by Blood as a standalone. I highly recommend this as a new edition to the Sweetblood world and look forward to new additions!!
This was a nice quick read. Things moved VERY fast within in the book. A little too fast for me. But given the length of the story it's understandable. Bottom line: I enjoyed it and it made me look forward to learning more about this world in future books. ** I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Very short story (maybe one hour reading time if that), which did not really give the characters the space to develop; unless, of course, they have been introduced in one of the previous books. Not a bad story as such, but what there was of a plot was a bit like the characters: not enough story to properly develop it, and nothing that could be classified as fast-paced really. A pity, because I am sure a more lengthy novel would have been of benefit.
Although I love all things paranormal especially vampire, and the premise of the series was intriguing....I found this read to be predictable with limited depth in the story and limited character building....The entire read was less than half a day with lots of page skimming 🙁2⭐️⭐️
I received this for free from a giveaway. I hadn't read any other books in the series but I was able to follow the story. It was aa short story but the "romance" just wasn't there for me. It was like on hand she hated the guy then the next page she was in love. It was annoying. Just wasn't a fan.
Short, forgettable vampire novella. The author’s writing style coupled with non descriptive characters and lack of a plot, crashed and burned this story for me.
Boring free read. I can’t imagine the series to be any better.
I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal novella. I enjoy everything vampire and I love Laurie's rendition of how they feed, can be killed, and their lifespan. A sweet vampire romance of Juliette and Andre.
I loved reading the paranormal romance between a human, Juliette, and a vampire, Andre. Juliette has no idea why suddenly, out of the blue, her relationship with Andre ends, and he disappears. Now, Juliette has to face Andre again regarding her father's business and is dreading the confrontation. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written short story, and a must read love story.
This was a quick action packed vampire thriller/romance. Andre and Juliette were wonderful main characters, although I wish the book could have been longer. I can’t wait to read Mateo’s story.
Several years ago Juliette Bishop had a passionate affair with Andre Lescarbeau that ended with a deception that hurt her deeply. After learning her lesson, she has put Andre and her feelings for him out of her life - until she must meet him again on her ailing father's behalf. He is everything that she has tried to forget. And she is still the one his heart is drawn to.
I am a fan of the Sweetblood novels and have been waiting for what feels like forever for the next book. To tide me over until that day, I have the "Enticed by Blood" short story. This story was originally published in the "The Mammoth Book Of Southern Gothic Romance" so beware if you have already read this anthology.
The story itself was as well developed as a short story can be expected to be - the characters were so appealing that I would have loved to read more about them. Of course this story was shorter than a die-hard fan like myself would want, but again, that is a compliment to the author. The characters have the appeal that makes you hope they get their happily ever after and the drama and romance is well balanced without the story feeling rushed.
If you are not familiar with the Sweetblood world, you will be able to read this as a stand-alone. I just hope that we see this couple again in future books in this series (still waiting...). I recommend this story to any romance fan who also appreciates vampires and/or stories set in New Orleans.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a really quick short story that takes us into the world of Andre (a "good" vampire) and Juliette (his human ex-girlfriend). There's romance, action, and a little sex.
Juliette finds herself tasked with talking to her ex, a task everyone dreads. He didn't even properly break up with her. Instead, she found out he left the hotel he was staying at with his wife (who he didn't even know existed). Andre had to force himself to leave Juliette because human/vampire relationships just never worked. He made up a lie that was sure to keep her away and ran back to his hotel business in New Orleans. During their relationship, however, he made a deal with Juliette's father to get some woodworking done. It didn't seem like a big deal until they encountered an issue and she got sent right to his doorstep.
While they both resist it, a storm conspires to bring these two back together. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that evil vampires (not the good ones, like Andre) are lurking about. To save Juliette, Andre's got to get over his fears and face his true feelings about Juliette. There is a lot of cute romance and chemistry jammed into this short read. It really convinced me to check this world out a bit more in the future.
Paranormal can be very addictive and enticing reads and Laurie London’s short novella “Enticed By Blood” is just that, tempting and enticing.
Juliette Bishop comes face to face with her former lover Andre Lescarbeau when she comes to New Orleans to take care of business on her father’s behalf when he falls ill. One night between Juliette and Andre has left both with unforgettable memories. Juliette feels betrayed as she thinks Andre was cheating on his wife, and Andre has a secret that seen the light of day would destroy him and his love.
As they both get stormed in, evil forces are out to destroy Andre and Juliette gets in the crosshairs of death. As secrets come to light, her love for Andre is put to test and Andre has to trust Juliette with his secret and his heart.
Super short novella yet very captivating and intense, “Enticed By Blood” will keep you entertained and hooked and Laurie London sure can keep her readers enthralled with her short novellas or her regular length books. She is another cool paranormal writer and I enjoy her books a lot.
This is part of the Sweet Blood Vampire Series and was originally published in the Mammoth Book Of Southern Gothic Romance.
Received and ARC from the writer for an honest review.
I recently found Laurie London when I was looking for something to fill in between my favorite authors releasing their latest books. Now I have another favorite author to add to my list that I wait impatiently for. That totally backfired! Lol! I received a copy of Enticed by Blood in exchange for an honest review. First, if you’ve been a fan longer than I have, you may have read it before in the anthology, Southern Gothic Romance, so just a heads up on that. Nothing could be more southern gothic than New Orleans, and vampires and NOLA go to together like shrimp and grits. Just like a plate of beignets, this story was over way to soon! I know, I know, it says right there on the front that it’s a short story, but Laurie is such a good writer it could have been so much more. It had all the ingredients for another great Sweetblood story, but like a good gumbo, it needed to simmer some more to develop into a full novel. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying skip this one, it’s just not my favorite Sweetblood story. I mean a bad night at Tipitina’s, is still a rockin’ good time and so was this story. Maybe one day she’ll check back in with it and give it a rewrite. In the mean time, kick back on your veranda with nice cold beverage and enjoy.
Juliette is traveling to New Orleans for a business meeting with her father's client, a Mr. Andre Lescarbeau, the man she had an affair with. Not that she knew it was an affair until after he left without saying good-bye and she found out he was married. Now, he's the last man on earth she wants to have anything to do with.
Andre Lescarbeau regrets what he's done to Juliette Bishop, though the secret she thought he was hiding, a wife, is a lie. The secret he hid from her was much more dangerous than Juliette could ever imagine... Andre Lescarbeau is a vampire. An unmarried vampire at that.
As soon as Juliette arrives in New Orleans, so does a terrible storm that forces her to spend a rain drenched night with Andre and a few other blood thirsty beings that open up Juliette's view to a world she had no idea existed.
I've loved Laurie London's Sweet Blood series from the very beginning and this little novella is just a peek into her vampire world. If you haven't read any of her other books, you shouldn't be lost in this. She makes sure there's a bit of everything from her sexy vampire world and plenty to tease you into wanting more.

This was gifted to me for my honest review. This is a Sweetblood Novella by Laurie London. I couldn't put this book down till I got to the end of the story. I love the Sweetblood series. Enticed by Blood is the story of Andre and Juliette. Juliette went to New Orleans for her father and to save a business contract. Juliette never wanted to see Andre again. But now she is stuck because of a storm. She just wanted to fix the contract and get the hell out of town and as far away from Andre as possible. Andre never thought he would see Juliette again and now here she was sitting across from him at his restraunt. He had to fight his desire for her. He let her believe that he was married, but during the storm he finally tells her he isn't married. But Andre and Juliette were in love and meant to be together. They finally realized that they are now going to spend eternity together. I give Enticed by Blood 5 stars. I recommend this series for anyone into paranormal romances. Can't wait for the next installment to the Sweetblood series.
This was a very quick read. I know it says that it is a short story, but this was a really short story it took me just over half an hour to read it, but with that being said it was also a very good book. From the beginning the author has pulls you into the story and keeps you hooked til the very end. It is very well written, and even though it is so short things are well explained and don't leave you wondering what was going on. I loved that Juliette was a strong and moral woman who would not stand for being with a married man. I did not however like that she gave in and forgave Andre so easily after leaving her the way he did. The only problem i really had with the book was that it was so short, too short. I love this series and look forward to reading more from this series and from Laurie London. I definitely recommend this book and this series.
Well...what can I say? In a nutshell I found this book to be "HOT". Normally I don't read Novellas for the fact that they are too short to which in my mind a lot of information is left out that seems to make the book or story feel rushed. Though this book was short, the story of Andre and Julliet had all the elements I look for when reading romance. There was mystery, intrigue, passion, need, desire as well as the "rescuing of the damsel in distress", and then love finding a way in the end. All factors needed to make a great story. I love the Sweet Blood series as a whole so this book only added to my need and want to continue to read the series and raise the excitement that goes with impatiently waiting for the next book to be released. For a novella I give this book a 5 star rating. Once I started I couldn't put it down. That to me equals good reading.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review .This is a Sweetblood Novella and is the story of Andre and Juliette. I really enjoyed reading their story the characters past history together added depth and made the story come alive it was easy to relate to their positions .Because of their past she never wanted to lay eyes on him again but issues with the contract between Andre and her fathers company force her hand .She just wants to get everything settled and get out of there. Andre had made her believe that he was married in order to send her away and keep her safe. Now shes back and he's fighting his desire for her. During a severe storm Andre admits the truth to her that he isnt married and details about his real secret come to light .This was a page turning good read that I would definitely recommend to other paranormal lovers out there .
Review for ENTICED BY BLOOD I received this as an ARC for an honest review Juliette met and fell in love with Andre at New Years. She spent a wonderful week in his arms and then he walked away from her….with his wife. Or did he ??? Now she is back in New Orleans to meet him once again to conduct some business her father is unable to do .. She is determined not to fall into his arms again and reminds him at every turn how he left her and lied to her. Unable to bear her hurt anymore, he confesses he lied to her about having a wife because of his feelings for her. You see, Juliette does not know he is a vampire. Unwilling to hurt her anymore, he walked away from her even though he loved her. But now she is in danger and he will do anything to protect her…even if it means revealing his secret.
Enticed by Blood by Laurie London was a great read and very quick. The story and characters are charming and draw you in. Love that Juliette is a strong woman and believes in her morals and sticks to them. Andre and his old world charm was sweet and delightful in this modern day world. Would have liked a little more detail on character description, found it a bit hard to picture them in my mind. I realize that it is a short story, but would have liked a bit more insight from the characters in addition to the lesser characters in the book. Had it read in about an hour, but would have liked more detail through out the story even if it is a short story. Definitely a must read though and a new series on my list! (copy gifted in exchange for honest review)

This is a very quick read. I know in the description it says that this is a short story, but I was still surprised when I came to the end. With that being said, I really enjoyed this story. The writing is great. There is a beginning, middle and end. Situations are explained and tied with a nice little bow, lol. So why 4 stars instead of 5 stars? The only thing that really bothered me in the whole story. That was how quickly Juliette just accepted, not only the existence of vampires, but that Andre was one. No shock, denial, or revulsion. Just, "Oh, ok, you're a vampire." Like they were talking about the weather! I seriously thought that I missed a couple of pages.
Short, but oh so sweet, and sexy! Although the last thing Juliette Bishop wants to do is go to New Orleans and check out a business deal for her father, she finds herself on her way to meet her ex-lover, Andre Lescarbeau. Determined to keep this on a business footing, Juliette is quite upfront with Andre in revealing that she knows about his lies and despises him for it. Andre felt he had no choice but to push Juliette away and make her hate him. Well, he succeeded beyond his expectations. When a sudden storm strands them, Andre must deal with the danger stalking them and realizes just what he's lost. Easy to read, well-written short story, really liked the characters of Juliette and Andre. (Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review)
