The Kobayashi twins discover that cross-dressing as each other leads to trouble and true love!
The Kobayashi twins, Megumu and Mitsuru, were named after historical figures, but only Megumu has grown up with a taste for history. So when Mitsuru is in danger of losing his weekends to extra history classes, he convinces his sister to swap clothes with him and ace his tests! After all, how hard can it be for them to play each other?
Megumu’s life has gone from weird to wonderful—she no longer has to cross-dress as her brother, and her true love, Aoi, has asked her out on a date! It’s the beginning of a beautiful relationship, even if they have to stay two feet apart at all times or risk Aoi going into anaphylactic girl shock. Meanwhile, Mitsuru is back in his own clothes too, but he’s making war, not love! Can he defeat the school bully and win the hand of his sweetheart, Shino?!
Gō Ikeyamada (池山田剛, born May 25) is a Japanese manga artist. She made her debut with Get Love!! in 2002, which was serialized in Shōjo Comic. Her manga mostly consists for a more young adult audience, due to some explicit content.
Sunday has finally arrived and Megumu Kobayashi has her first date with Aoi Sanada and she is completely freaking out (he is not faring any better). Meanwhile, Mitsuru Kobayashi has been practicing all week for what he believes will be a duel with Azusa Tokugawa only to discover it is also a date.
The twins are back and you follow thewir adorable love stories. I am super interested to see what happens with Mitsuru's storyline in upcoming issues because so far we have mainly been following Megumu and Aoi. My favorite part might have been watching Megumu freak out about what to eat on her first date with Aoi because she is internally struggling and he thinks it is hilarious because he doesn't care what/how she eats, I thought that was very endearing and realistic.
It wasn’t what I expected. From switching places to cross-dressing to being unable to touch each other, this is starting to sound like a couple movies I know.
Aoi and Megumu are going on a date! They're so cute! Meanwhile, Mitsuru is going to do battle with Tokugawa. In other words, Mitsuru is too dense to realize it's a date and Tokugawa is too embarrassed to admit she wants it to be a date.
But I'll say this much for these twins, they fall in love at the same time, but things go up and down for each of them at different times. Megumu is happy on minute while Mitsuru is losing out then they flip flop the next.
Okay this one has full cuteness back on as Megumu goes on her first date with Aoi and lets her Otaku soul fly. Absolutely endearing and cute!
Meanwhile Mitsuru is stuck on a 'date' with his rival from his sister's school, however they end up having a pretty good time. That is until Mitsuru spots Shinto out with another guy and even kisses him.
This particular volume started some first dates and *heart eyes* I have forgotten how adorable the artstyle is and how one of the couples interacts its very cute. I think my only issue is all of the miscommunication that happens. There are moments that its funny and cute but otherwise that's not what I am a fan of. Because of these points, I have to give this particular volume a 4 out of 5 stars
Pretty cute! The sister and her crush go out on a date. I found it really interesting since they have to be two feet apart! I kind of like the tension.
Then the brother goes out with the bully girl. The bully girl is kind of interesting too. She's really abrasive and pushy, but that's only because she likes him. BUT she's not his heroine in this story.
The originality of the first volumes has started to fade. This volume concentrates on the first date between Aoi and Mego. It is not bad but it is something I've read many times over.
Not gonna lie: I read this series super fast and don't remember it super well. The romance was cute, though, and I liked it enough to keep reading until the end.
I won't lie, I don't want to keep reading, but I also do. I'm very confused, much like the majority of the characters. At least we finally got some first dates.
Quick recap: Meguru and Mitsuru Kobayashi are fraternal twins who look a lot alike. Due to a zany scheme, they switched uniforms and went to each other’s school for a week. While there, each fell in love with a student at their sibling’s school, complicated by the fact of the disguises. Now the week is over, but the romantic comedy is just starting!
In this volume, the Kobayashi twins go on first dates. Meguru is out with the dashing Aoi Sanada, a tough but gentle lad who reminds her of famous Japanese warlord Date Masamune. They get along quite well, despite Aoi being afflicted with anxiety attacks whenever a woman (including Meguru and his half-sister Shino Takenaka) gets too close. So they can spend time together, but not touch.
Meanwhile, Mitsuru finds himself spending the day with “mean girl” Azusa Tokugawa rather than the lovely Shino. She blackmailed him into a day with her in exchange for not revealing his crossdressing adventure, but Mitsuru didn’t understand what she meant and showed up in kendo dueling gear, while she’s in Gothic Lolita finery. Onlookers assume it’s some sort of cosplay date. Azusa is confused by her own feelings, alternating between anger at this stupid boy and being charmed by his good points.
But drama lurks in the wings. Aoi’s trauma runs deeper than he’s been letting on, and Mitsuru may have waited too long to reveal his true identity to Shino.
Again, this is an adorable series with innocent feelings, and some amusing reaction faces, particularly from Azusa. The crossdressing is mostly over, confined to an extended flashback.
Abuse in Aoi’s backstory is hinted at, and Azusa’s bullying is mentioned. There’s also some brief non-graphic violence. But in general, this is safe for its target audience of junior high readers.
If you liked the previous volumes, this one is also good.
In this volume, Megumu and Aoi go on their first date, impeded by their two-foot distance rule. Aoi is surprised by his own want to be closer to Megumu, and she’s unaware, but they’re both overly nervous. It’s a cute date, with Megumu equally excited over her history fandom and nervous about eating in front of Aoi.
Then Mitsuru has a surprise date with Azusa—surprise because he thinks she’s calling him out for a duel, when really she’s trying to go on a date with him. This is a struggle for both of them, mainly because Mitsuru actually likes Shino, and still doesn’t know how to develop that relationship.
I’m very wishy-washy with this series. On one hand, I like Megumu and Aoi, they’re adorable, and their date is very cute. I’m intrigued by Mitsuru and Shino, though I still haven’t decided where I stand with that triangle.
But on the other hand, the exaggeration, the sense of humor, the occasional text speak really gets on my nerves. One second I’ll be annoyed with the exaggerated chibi embarrassment, the next I’ll be thinking that Aoi is adorable.
I’m still reading, but I’m very on the fence with this series.
A review copy was provided by the publisher, VIZ Media, for an honest review. Thank you so, so much!
I'm not sure I like this story... I like the characters, I like the art... But there is something missing compared to others series by Ikeyamada-sensei. There isn't that spark that usually distinguishes her works from other shōjo manga out there.
I don't have a favorite character yet. The most interesting is probably Azusa, though. She's crazy and strong and she can fight against a buy and not lose. And I like all her facial expressions.
Aoi is interesting as well but... As a love interest he's too serious in my opinion. Mitsure is more on the crazy side and I kind of prefer him to Aoi. I still want to know more about Aoi's past and this may be the topic of volume #5.
And I already have it in my little hands... Eh, eh, eh...
So far the series seems really ridiculous but I can tell it'll get serious at one point and probably have a really good plot (at least that's what I'm hoping for). I'm really excited to see where this all goes ^_^
I'm really enjoying this series, but I'm sad because I've reached the end of the currently released volumes (volume 5 arrives in Feb. though!!). This is a good series if you like shoujo (not the best series, but very enjoyable).
