Mechanics: Nothing ground-breaking with the exception that even successful test can come at a cost inflicting strain on the character. Too much strain and you are incapacitated. Interestingly, the only way to remove strain is to convert it to a trauma which provides some sort of long-term negative effect. A trauma can then be removed given enough time and resources. That is an interesting twist and fits the setting well.

Play as yourself: This seems interesting for a one-shot, but I'm not convinced it will be playable long-term as a campaign or for playing different End of the World scenarios.

Settings: FFG tried to pass these off as "scenarios" but by the standard RPG definition, they are really settings. They are NOT scenarios or adventures that are ready to run right out of the book. That said, the settings were a fun read and had a very different look/feel from each other.

The book itself is pretty good. My issue with it is that there was too many questions that this book did not answer. I'm used to playing dungeons and dragons. There is plenty that is up to the DMs discretion in those campaigns, but one at least has a general idea of what a solution may be. As a zombie fanatic, I enjoyed the book. As a DM and player, I felt it could use more.

While I am iffy about the idea of an RPG where you play yourself but the system is flexible enough where you don't have to and the system is really easy to understand. While Zombies are kind of generic but the scenarios are creative especially the Voodoo one and how they handle the scenarios like the time lines are really creative and interesting.

I quite like End of the World. The mechanics can be a little clunky for what is really a free flowing experience. The game is best played as a one shot adventure and you get several good ones here. Playing as yourself and the character creation system is the best thing about this game, but I have had a lot of fun playing it, although resolving tests on the fly can be a bit mathy for what should be played as close as possible to a real time experience.
