The Secret School Of Wisdom - The Authentic Rituals and Doctrines of the Illuminati

Rate this book
For more than two hundred years, the world has held a certain view of the Illuminati. Much has been claimed for and against the Order - its name synonymous with secrecy, intrigue, and mystery in the modern context, despite a poverty of concrete evidence in the English language. Little has been said about the factual structure and development through its life cycle. The Secret School of Wisdom - The Authentic Rituals and Doctrines of the Illuminati, is a ground-breaking text. It marks the first time that a comprehensive ritual book for the society has been re-assembled. Every degree, its instruction and associated texts, has been included and assembled in chronological order of progression. The reader is guided along the same path as many of Germany's most enlightened men, as they were in the years immediately prior to the French Revolution.
Much of this material has never been published - let alone translated into English. Supplemental texts are included to gain further historical insight into the Order and all documents have been checked for accuracy with the original archival texts.

This book is THE most thorough, authoritative book on 18th Century Bavarian Illuminism. It is scholarly but readable and it contains ,not just quite a bit of literature but also, workable initiation rituals from Novice to Prince. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely crucial material here for students of Masonry, Secret Societies, Western Ceremonial Magic and Initiatory Mysteries, this book presents for the 1st time in 200 years (and in English!) the authentic rituals and doctrines of Adam Weishaupt's Bavarian Illuminati!

There is much confusion about what, "The Secret School Of Wisdom - The Authentic Rituals and Doctrines of the Illuminati," is and who falls into its target audience. It's not for everyone and it's not a discussion. This is raw history, translated from the German for the first time. It is a primary source that opens a view-port on one of the world's most misunderstood societies from the late 1700s.

In this book you will find the initiation rituals (to the extent that they have been recovered, though some may never have been completed) of the Bavarian Illuminati. This was a real group that existed from 1776 to just shy of 1800 and had a much larger cultural splash outside of that time period due to their political views and they way those views fed into the ongoing European political turmoil of the day.

If you're looking for an analysis of the history of the society, then you should look elsewhere, but if you want to understand who these people were and what they believed, then this is absolutely the right place to look!

This is a manual and not a reference work. To me, this book was a waste of money

This is an interesting book, providing a comprehensive look at the documents of the Illuminati. Most of the book reads much as I would expect the documents of such a society to read, with (I assume) all the rituals, policies and procedures. Potentially dry reading if you are looking to understand what the Illuminati was about rather than how they were structured, etc. However as you get further along, the documents contain less structured ritual instruction and operational manuals and more instructional lectures and similar documents that give a glimpse into what the Illuminati were actually about.

It was interesting - almost disconcerting - when reading this book how clearly the storylines and biases of the age shine through, though on reflection it must always be so or an Order would never attract people. Never the less I often found myself reacting to those cultural themes which (I hope) we have outgrown, even while finding a certain resonance with the underlying goals and aspirations.
