From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Book #2 of the Mermen Trilogy

He never wanted this. He only wanted her.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THE ISLAND OF EL CORAZÓN IS WRONG. The men are ruthless warriors who call themselves mermen but don't have any fish parts, the island isn't exactly an island, and the women...well, let's just say their story isn't pretty. More like a nightmare. Which is exactly why billionaire Roen Doran will do anything to protect the woman he can't live without from that violent place. Including becoming the island's leader and giving her up forever.

WHEN LIV STRATTON ESCAPED THAT TERRIFYING ISLAND in the North Pacific after being shipwrecked, she didn't just leave behind the horror, she left behind Roen Doran. A man she didn't know, but who risked everything to save her. And now her heart can't seem to move on. So part of her wonders if it's somehow her fault she's been taken against her will and locked inside a ship bound for El Corazón. But an even bigger part wonders if Roen will lift a finger to save her this time. After all, now he's one of them...

Mermadmen is book two in the Mermen trilogy by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. If you thought book one of this trilogy, Mermen, was crazy, you better buckle your seatbelt for book two.

island shrouded - Google Search

Liv Stratton has been taken and finds herself on her way back to the island Roen sacrificed so much to insure her escape from in book one. She is to be part of the claiming, and there is one merman in particular who is NOT Roen that wants her, who feels like he is entitled to her. No matter how far away she is from Roen, no matter how many miles separate them, her heart still yearns for him. She has accepted that she loves him, the kind of love that you experience once in a life time. Is this love true or is it just part of the crazy mate link that is part of the magic of the island?

huge party boat - Google Search

Roen Doran’s heart also yearns for Liv. But he wants her safe off the island. So you can imagine his shock when she is brought back with the other women that were brought in for the claiming. He knows he loves her but there is no future for them. She isn’t safe here on the island. He has to find a way to get her back home. What will he have to sacrifice this time?

hearts conected by love - Google Search

“Becoming leader of this place had been his calling, but Liv had been his destiny.”

Once Upon a Time Spoilers: Evil Mermaids! Tragic Romance! - TV Fanatic

The name of this book couldn’t be more appropriate. These mermen are truly mermadmen! They are not the mermen from our childhood fantasies. I have to say, though, that I saw some goodness in them in this book as they began to listen to Roen and to believe there might be another way. And whether they are good or evil, can you imagine an island completely inhabited with hundreds of seven foot tall, totally ripped man candy??? If only the women didn’t have to end up as evil maid creatures. That sort of ruins the whole fantasy.

magic water - Google Search

Liv has definitely gotten stronger. She is one tough woman, always ready with plenty of snark. I love that she has nicknamed the island Crazy Dirt.

Two Red Hearts Connected To Love And Stars Fall In Hourglasses ...

Now lets talk about the island herself, El Corazon. This island is really the evil one here. She is what is manipulating everything and everyone. In this book, revelations are made and Roen and Liv are in a constant race with time to try to outsmart her. And what about this magic water? Does the life of the entire earth really depend on it? Why does Liv seem to be immune to it?

Drink Magic Water - Andrew Groves

This book is a quick read but it’s a good thing because it is nonstop right from the start and once you begin, you won’t be able to stop reading until you come to the end. Is there a cliffhanger? Yes, and it’s a big one. We will have to wait about five months for the next book, MerCiless, to be released. If you haven’t started this series yet, I recommend you pick up book one and get started. You are in for one crazy ride.

Peeved...again.

Do you know what really peeves me off? I'm a SUCKER FOR PUNISHMENT! I actually think Mimi Jean Pamfiloff is a fantastic author, but this is the second series (f*#king King) where she has given us two books close together and a huge gap until the third. I'm so disappointed. I really enjoyed Mermen and Mermadmen, but I think I am out. I'll read some reviews to find out what happens in the the third one, but I'm not reading it. I don't want to re-read the whole series again in November.

To anyone who's interested...this story was action packed and full of suspense. I enjoyed watching Liv and Roen struggle with their strong attraction. I'm disappointed that they have not consummated their relationship. I felt lots of anger towards the narrow mindedness of the men on the island, but it was explained later in the story. The backstory of the island, its inhabitants and history was interesting and the role of women was...different. I thought having the island as a life force for the world was original.

So if you can be patient and wait until the final book in this series is released, I think you’ll be in for a winner.

A riveting, fast pace, smoking-hot romance that will leave you wanting more of this fresh twist on an old tail… I mean tale (get it? No? OK, I’ll leave the jokes to the professionals).

Roen Doren is used to facing difficulty. But the island of El Corazón is doing her best to make his life impossible. He’s already given up just about everything to protect the woman he loves from the nightmarish fate that befalls all women that visit the island. He’s determined to embrace his destiny and lead the barbaric mermen without fins and protect the island. But will the changes he intends to make be accepted? Can he find a way to free his people and have everything he wants?
“We fight. We love. And we die. But we are never allowed to live.”

Even knowing she left her heart behind on that retched island, Live Stratton never intended to go back. But she’s been kidnaped and is bound towards El Corazón once again. Her first time there, she had been shipwrecked and rescued by a man who many thought to be cold and heartless. She saw beyond his walls and he saved her but ordered her to forget everything that had happened including him. An impossible feat. And now that she’s on her way back, will he come to her rescue once more?

Can these two soul mates solve the mystery of the island of El Corazón and find a way to be together? Or will they put the good of the many ahead of themselves?
“Becoming leader of this place had been his calling, but Liv had been his destiny.”

MerMadmen, the second book in the Mermen trilogy, picks up right after Mimi left off with the same gripping excitement. I loved going back to El Corazón, getting more information about her and the mer-inhabitants, both men and maids. Trying to figure out what made her tick and coming one step further to solving this amazing puzzle was definitely eye-popping entertaining. I laughed, swooned, fanned my girly parts and was thrilled from start to finish.

I really enjoyed the impact Liv and Roen had on each other. If I liked Roen in the first book, I adored him in this one. His determination to protect Liv and his people was absolutely endearing and proved he’s not the unfeeling man everyone thought him to be. We got to see all his sides, “domineering and sensual, sweet and prickly.”
“That first day they’d met, she’s reached inside him and illuminated his soul with the simple act of opening her beautiful brown eyes and gazing right through the scar tissue. ‘You’re the most misjudged man I’ve ever met,’ she’d said.”

Liv completely won me over with her funny, sassy glibness. She’s strong and still didn’t let anyone push her around. I loved her nerdyness, her empathy towards women, her worry about her family and her faith and sure confident feelings towards Roen. And of course I loved the searing sexual tension that builds up between them.
“Her feelings for Roen, from the first moment they’d met, had defied all logic. It was like a fire in her heart and soul she couldn’t put out.”

The Rock Star of cliffies pulled another “I didn’t see this one coming” and I loved it! A lot of the questions from the past book were answered, but there are new others. I don’t want to give away any details and recommend you dive right into this new, smart, exciting paranormal world that demands attention.
MerMadmen is book 2 in the Mermen trilogy that cannot be read as a standalone. It’s strongly advised to read these books in order. It’s written from both points of view, and has a cliffhanger.

Some merman-lingo: MerManly charms. A merman would find a piranha cute. Mermaid-chow. Mer-machismo. Mer-chickens of the sea. Ocean-Neanderthal. Merman National Library. A home was a merman’s castle. Mer-lust.

I'm so totally speechless that I had to wait a few days before I actually sat down to do this review. It is so hard to do reviews for book I loved. Everything about this just worked. I kinda loved how the men were stupid but thought the chicks were dumb so they totally underestimated Liv. Now, here is the deal. Liv is immune to the island. Which means that its influence and its 'magic water' doesn't work on her at all like it does the other women that come to the island. Roen came through for me as a strong, yet still Alpha. He respected Liv, but at the same time he was so bent on keeping her safe he didn't stop to think that she could do that all on her own and his way of keeping her safe actually endangered her.

The pacing on this book was must faster than the first. The first built the world and boy were you in it, now that the stage was set the book hit the ground running and didn't stop. I loved how Liv was the one to unravel EVERYTHING! But that ENDING! ZOMG! I'm STILL thinking about that ending two days later! I don't know if I want to hate or love Shane. I don't know if he wants her as a mate or if he just wants what he knows isn't really his anyways. But when we were in his head for that very brief amount of time I didn't get hostility from him, I got something totally different he way I hated him the whole two books and I was like WHAT THE---?

Now, who the heck is in the tank? I think I know how is in the tank but it is a Mimi book so I could be totally wrong!

As a warning this book does end on a HUGE cliffhanger and the last book isn't out until November. So on that note if you are the whiny type, wait for them all to be out. I would also like to note that I read books one and two in under 8 hours.

THIS CONTAINS A CLIFF HANGAR ENDING.

This is part two of a series and continues exactly where book one finishes.

Roen is leading the Mermen on the island, but his heart is still with Liv. However back home Liv is not coping very well and misses Roen,

But when Shane comes and takes Liv back to the island, she finds there is more at stake than she initially thought, especially as there is a surprise onboard.

The only problem with this story is that we have to wait until next year to get the end of the story. Its a long time to wait for the ending.

I definitely liked this one more than the first. there was no question about Viv and Roen relationship. They were head-over0heel in love so everything about them was expected. of course I now understood better why they could not take their relationship further physically. This one absolutely explaining more of what was really going on and the cliffhanger left me wanting the next one immediately. The book was still packed with interesting plot as usual. Very interesting world as well. Her villian, the island was crazy. Mimi Jean Pamfiloff's crazy good.

Book Review- Mermadmen by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

Liv Stratton has been taken by Shane and blackmailed. She has to tell Roen that she has never wanted him. She has always wanted Shane. She has to do this or Shane will take her younger sister instead. She is also aboard the ship heading to the mystery island. Liv is stuck.
She is a part of the claiming. She has to witness the whole process. She has to see Roen compete in the competitions. She tries to show Shane favoritism but her mate seems to know the truth. He will protect her but knows they can never be together no matter how they feel. Roen has a plan to bring back the mates and protect the island. The mermen are divided but change is coming.
I was just as frustrated as Liv as I read this. I love her character. She is smart and refuses to let the island win. Her situation would drive anyone mad. The author did a great job of having her work through it and do what she could.
It was creepy to read how Shane is obsessed with Liv. You just want to beat him up. Brings a bit of violence out of you. Can’t stand his character. He makes a great villain.
I like how the author also makes the mermen realize what is really happening and how they are fighting back. It will be interesting to see how Roen leads the men back from the punishment that the island is dishing out.
It’s such an odd idea of an island controlling mermen, a psychotic island at that. It’s definitely a unique storyline. Not necessarily my favorite from this author. I’ve loved everything she has written. However I am interested in seeing how this series ends. The ending of this book did not surprise me but I still didn’t like it. I’m ready for Roen and Liv to save the day. I give it a 4 out of 5.

This installment picks up exactly as the previous release ends. Liv awakes and realizes she's got no memory of how she got there. As she remembers more and her captor enlightens her Liv is ready to halt the collection and lead her fellow captives to safety. Back at the island, the real villain of the piece is slowly revealed an for my taste more romances I didn't believe

Confession time, this minority member still isn't a converted fan. The weak link for this read remains to be Liv. For this reader the manipulative-ness, the misogyny, the helplessness, the 'only I can save the world and I will whether they like or not.' of the story were all too much. There were interesting plot twists, turns and surprises and I liked the villain, though not a great surprise. Suffice it to say if you were a fan of book one, you'll love book two.

Liv thought she was free from the Island and wouldn´t see Roen again, but Shane has a plan to overthrow the leader - and Liv is a big part of this, with her sister.
If Liv is to keep her sister out of the faith of the mermaids or baby mamas, she´ll have to get creative because Shane is not easily duped. And once again face to face with Roen all the feelings awaken with a roar. Will either of them survive this latest scheme, and will Roen succeed in his work to keep Liv away from all the disaster the Island has to share?
The second part in this three part serial, action, suspense and fluff in a great PNR combo, can´t wait for the last conclusive part.

"Mermadmen"
by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
5 STARS

This a story that scales to new heights. It is the second book of a trilogy. It is not a standalone but don't let that discourage you. The first book, "Mermen" is just as good as the second. Mimi Jean pushes the envelope of suspense and excitement with this book to. The world she develops is a new spin on an old myth. This is a riveting tale that will will you having shouting for more at the end of this story. It does end in a cliffhanger but not to worry there is going to be another book. I recommend this book and it's very enjoyable with sushi.

OMG! You evil harpy, I think I love you. I may not have clicked with every aspect of this story early on, but I was intrigued from the get go. And then the ending was so perfect I can not wait for part three...oh wait...I have to wait til November? Late November? You evil harpy...wait..I already said that.

Okay so I didn't buy the romance for most of this tale. Too quick, too much brute for me I guess. But clever girl had tricks up her sleeve and reminded me that I was the faithless reader who really should know better by now. Because let's face it brutes are fun and Mimi knows how to reward the diligent reader. (And then make them beg and suffer for more.)

I've never been so attracted to fish!

Okay, so maybe they aren't exactly fish, but they are definitely very delicious men. MerMen. They take what they want and refuse to settle for less.
I knew I couldn't stay away from the island for long, and this book sucked me right back in. So many secrets revealed, yet so many questions unanswered......
The wait for the next book seems like it's too far away for my liking. It's almost as painful as having to spend my life alone, waiting for the day I can be reunited with my life mate.....
Maybe I can sympathize with these Mermen after all?!?

It's taken me a while to finish this book, but it's not because it isn't good. Mimi always has such a way of world building that you can pretty much envision the environment. I enjoyed this book, not as much as the King's series, but she always has a way of drawing me in and wanting to complete the series.
