A great summary and introduction to wellbeing which is brief but well put together. I found the early chapters did a good job of defining some key areas and terms with some interesting segues into psychology and philosophy along the way. A couple of the techniques described were familiar to me but were explained well and certainly helped filled in some personal knowledge gaps!

I will say that the explanations of the biological aspects - nervous system etc - went on a bit too long for me, but then I do find biology boring... stupid humans 😉

Probably the most surprising part of the book for me was the final section on sleep. Here, some really enlightening insights into the links between sleep and wellbeing, alongside decent explanations of sleep rhythms and stages and the effects on us of disturbing these through poor sleep discipline and diet.

Overall, a great book that goes far beyond your bog-standard "smile more, meditate more and eat kale" wellbeing fare as is so common in this genre. As such, recommended. I will certainly be reading more in this series (thank you Prime Reading!)

I found this book really helpful and not too preachy which I was scared of. It's very scientific and it really covers everything from self confidence and seeking validation from others to insomnia, to the benefits of eating healthy and exercising, different techniques to relax.

Common sense

Mostly dry and although some what knowledgeable but too much intrinsic jargon. Mostly common sense. It was informative but boring.
