After a cathartic call to her best friend, Liz comes up with a brilliant idea. She and Landon may never be able to re-create the magic of their first time, but how amazing would their wedding night be if everything below the neck was off-limits until then?

Liz thinks it’ll bring them closer together. Landon’s convinced she’ll cave first. So they raise the Whoever lasts longer gets to pick their honeymoon destination. With her heart set on the Bahamas and Landon fighting for snowbound Utah, Liz simply has to win. But pretty soon, her body is screaming for attention, and Landon’s never seemed so far away. Doing It for Love by Cassie Mae is a sweet, fun and light hearted book that kept me engaged and entertained all the way through.

Most romance books we read start with a couple who meet and fall in love. But what about the couples that are already in love? Lizzie and Landon have been together for a few years. They’re living together, and even though it’s a struggle at times, they’re happy. But Lizzie wants more. She wants that butterfly feeling she used to get, she wants the spicier ‘strawberries and whipped cream’ type loving. So to get things going, when Landon proposes, Lizzie suggests something a little crazy… No sex until they get married. The wedding is 5 months away.

 photo fb639efc-e14d-48aa-9db6-4b7038df9afa_zps4dhw1jif.jpg

Liz really feels like this will bring them closer as a couple, to make them desire one another even more than they already do. And Landon, being the guy he is goes with it. If one of them breaks, the other choses the honeymoon destination. The stakes are high.

I adored Lizzie and Landon together. They had such a real relationship. I remember what it was like being engaged young, still in college etc. You got to see the realities such as Landon not picking up his socks, and Lizzie budgeting every cent to not only make ends meet but pay for wedding things on top of it all. Through it all, they were a team. A team who proved that their love was the most important thing of all.

 photo 7bcc06ac-024c-4722-8ebd-ef5b37e68fb3_zpsulnfusf6.jpg

I was pleasantly surprised with how funny this book was. I expected it to be sweet and maybe a little young, but I didn’t expect to laugh out loud numerous times. Lizzie is hilarious. I loved the scene where she first met Landon’s parents… I was giggling so much. Not only were Lizzie and Landon great, but they had some awesome friends that I’m excited to read about.

If you’re looking for a story that will charm you, entertain you and make you smile and laugh non-stop, then Doing It for Love is one you should pick up!
I didn’t just fall in love with him, but I chose to fall in love every day. And even more exhilarating, he chooses me every day, too.

"I love you."
"Why?"

Landon and Lizzie meet in a college drama class. They have an almost immediate attraction to each other. Now several years later, they are living together in a small New York city apartment. Landon is an aspiring film director and Lizzie has a full time job at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. The night Landon proposes to Lizzie they have sex that is not all that spectacular. Lizzie has been comparing their sexy times to Raisin Bran, meaning they have sex out of need but the wow factor has been missing.

So Lizzie decides that they should refrain from the sexy times till their wedding night. She tells Landon this will make their night special but she doesn't tell him the real reason is because she thinks their sex life has become dull. To sweeten the deal, they make a bet, whomever wins gets to pick their honeymoon destination. Landon wants to go to Utah for the Sundance Film Festival, and Lizzie wants to go to the Bahamas. She happens to find a venue that has an opening in five months and figures that is not too much of a wait. RIGHT!!

It seems the two start going through withdrawals not even after 24 hours have passed. They each try to entice the other and I found it pretty hot. Also I was wondering how could these two be raisin bran?? It seemed they were both very sexy and hot for each other. I guess I would say this was my little issue with the story, plus at times I was a little bored.

But I did adore these two. It was obvious how deeply they loved each other and were always so supportive of their dreams and aspirations. I don't think I would have been able to hold out as long as Lizzie did and there was definitely one point in the story that I would have definitely given up and let Landon win, because he just tugged at my heart strings!

I have read some of Cassie Mae's other books and adored them. This was the first Adult Contemporary book I've read by her and I noticed she did deliver more steam than she has in her other books. It's not extremely dirty but it had just the right amount of sexy and I loved the usual funny banter she includes in her stories as well.

This was a very cute and light hearted read! I will definitely continue to pick up a Cassie Mae book because I know I'm guaranteed to get a few giggles mixed in with some swoon worthy moments.

"Losing their little competition would be frustrating—but the one thing she can’t afford to lose is him."

Ever wondered what happens after the happily ever after? Well, readers wonder no more because Cassie Mae has just successfully answered all your questions. 'Doing it for love' is the first book in a brand new series and I can already foresee that I won't find it hard to fall in love with all that this gorgeous author has to offer. Cassie Mae is the perfect antidote to those less than happy days. Once you embark on a novel by this author you won't be able to do anything other than walk around with a big silly grin on your face and fall in love with stories that are full of quirky characters and slap stick scenarios.

What's it all about?
Cassie Mae successfully navigates her readers on the journey that comes after the 'happily ever after. After finding each other and taking the plunge to move in together Liz and Landon only have each other and a future stuck like glue to look forward to. But this story highlights what happens when there are socks left on the floor, over eating of chocolate to be had and a pending sharing of nuptials. Readers get ready to embark on this couples delightful tale of strawberries, whipped cream, a barrel of laughs and a love that will stand the test of time.

What did I love?
I can almost 100% guarantee that I'll always be crazy about this author's style of writing. Her books are like a much needed sugar fix; always sweet and leaves you feeling happily satisfied. This book in particular surprised me and I'll try to tell you why; Whenever I'm choosing my next book to fall in love I'm always on the chase for a fresh love story and like I've already mentioned this book was filled with what happens after you've caught that love that you've been dreaming about. Did I feel a little sceptical about this story line? Just a little, yes. But was I proven wrong? 100%, yes. Cassie Mae always delivers harm warming and hilarious in huge quantities and if this novel is a taste of what's to come for this series then I'm ready to sign up for more.

Why not five?
As ive already mentioned above I'm always on the hunt for the next story to fall in love with. I adore the chase, the romance and the butterflies that comes with a new developing relationship. In this novel that part of the story is already done and dusted and we are left with the remaining part of the story. Cassie Mae highlights the pitfalls and joys of a couple who are working their way through everything that comes with a blossoming relationship. And as much as I adored this couple and the author's ability to draw me into the plot I still found myself missing that crucial part of falling in love alongside the couple. I wanted more of Liz and Landon's story; What happened before the dirty socks on the floor and worrying about their finances? What makes their story unique and who were they before they found each other? You might be asking yourself the question why did Lisa pick up this book to read knowing from the blurb that this book was focused on an already existing couple? Simply put, I never want to miss out on any release by this author and I'm already looking forward to book two in this series.

Final thoughts ...
If you love a book that can triumphantly showcase a true love affair in a way that feels 'real' then you don't want to miss out on this Cassie Mae novel. Liz and Landon are a couple that made me smile on more than one occasion and once again Cassie Mae has written a book that cranks up the sweet stakes. If you've not had the pleasure of reading a book by this author and you love your books seriously well written with a good dose of the funnies and candy coated romance then you really do not need to look any further. As for 'Doing it for love' with zero angst and a romantic plot you can't go wrong Waiting for this September release day. Enjoy readers ... Kisses.

Together for a while Liz and Landon are not in the “fiery” phase of their relationship anymore, they are settled, living together and happy with each other. But Liz believes that their sparkle died a little bit and their sex life is now “peas and carrots” when it should be strawberries and whipped cream. So when Landon proposes and they get engaged she has the perfect idea: no sex during the five months until their wedding, to make their wedding night amazing. The one who gives up first loses and the other one chooses the honeymoon destination. But with the lack of sex, their problems start to appear bigger and they find their relationship in a new level they never had to deal with. Could this be their change to go back to where they are or some flames are not meant to be re-kindle?

To be honest, I don’t read that many “real life” romances. Money problems, incompatible work schedules, annoying habits that make us crazy like leaving dirty clothes on the floor are problems I usually stay away from because, let’s be real, we have real life for that. However this book completely catch me. I loved to read about a couple after the happy end when the real relationship begins, and these two made this book seem so sweet it was impossible not to fall in love with it. Funny, sweet, well written, this cotton-candy romance grabbed me from the first page. I just wish it have had a little more steam and a more “complete” epilogue. Definitely a series to keep up with.

Characters Development: First let me say that Landon was one of the best heroes I’ve read lately. He was completely sweet, selfless as he was always putting Liz is first place and sexy in his own disregarded way. I loved him. To be fair, Liz was a pretty good heroine as well. Funny, sweet and selfless in her own way it was easy for me to like Liz. Seeing them as a “real” couple was without a doubt one of the best parts of this book.
Steam: Some hot moments.

4.25 All About The Love Stars

It’s funny, for so long I wanted to know the story after the happy ending. What happens to the couple once they find each other, consummate their relationship, and get past their demons? Now that I’m in that story I get why no one talks about it.

Doing It for Love is the story of Liz and Landon, but really it could be about any newly engaged couple. You know what I mean; attractive, young and been together for a while and even though they’re head over heels in love with each other, something’s missing. Oh yeah, the hot sex! Where the hell did that go? Okay, so I guess not every couple fits this bill but anyone who’s been in a long term relationship knows the drill, especially when you’re just starting out and trying to establish careers. Work and trying to stay afloat financially take a whole lot of time and energy and soon the passionate times that rock your world become less and less. Not to say the sex completely disappears, but what’s a couple have to do to bring the sexy back? *That was bad, I know. Mock if you must.*

Finding herself in the unenviable situation of too much meh sex with her gorgeous but overworked man, Liz decides to take matters into her own hands by, well, not taking matters into her own hands. Why not challenge Landon to a non-sexathon for the 5 months left on their engagement to ensure the wedding night is a dynamite, skyrockets exploding experience? The partner that goes the longest without cracking gets full reign over the honeymoon. So what’s it gonna be? Bahama sunshine or snowy Sundance?

His hands twitch. He’s white-knuckling the armrests. He shuts his eyes, blows out a breath, and I let my heart dance in my chest. Why don’t I try to seduce him anymore? Why don’t I flirt as much? It’s amazing.

As the challenge to abstain rolls on, we get to see just how much these two truly love and enjoy each other. They’re engaged for a reason and as their wedding day approaches, their love and devotion makes for some wonderful reading. No, there’s no heavily tattooed guys on motorcycles, step brothers looking to hook up or charmingly egotistical billionaires, but I for one need a break from all of that sometimes.

“If you couldn’t have sex, who would you want to… not have sex with? Because I’d want that person to be you.”

I’ve read a few Cassie Mae books and enjoyed all of them, despite their YA status. Doing It for Love is a departure from the previous books I’ve read in that this one has some steam. Just because you’re trying to not have sex with your man doesn’t mean you can’t bring him to the point of breaking, right? Some of my favorite scenes involved these two trying to rile each other up, so to speak.

I have to say my absolute favorite part of this book was the character interaction, not just between Landon and Liz but all of the other characters as well. Cassie Mae does a seriously solid job of making this a fun read. It’s not slapstick funny (a good thing here) but it’s so real while still bringing the funny. I don’t use the word delightful on a regular basis because, well, I’m not the kind of gal that says delightful, but this book was just that.

My only complaint is that the story got a little slow during some parts. There’s a very low amount of drama besides the everyday relationship stuff and at times I could’ve used a little something to move the book along.

It’s so much more than the ring on my finger, the setting of dates, the buying of dresses, the sending of invitations. More than trying to rekindle something that I thought was lost, but it wasn’t lost, it’s just more now. It’s about dealing with all the crap, and still finding reasons to stick around.

I’m so glad I had the opportunity to read this. Sometimes you just need a feel good book and Doing It for love more than delivered.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY TO THIS BOOK!

This review is also posted at Her Book Thoughts!

I've tried reading Cassie Mae's YA books in the past but none of them worked for me until this book came along. I saw this on Netgalley, read the blurb, and fell for it hook, line and sinker from then on.

Books usually just tell us the "...and they lived happily ever after" part in the life of a couple. Usually it sucks because, duh, OTP I NEED MORE. What happens after that? Do they just get married and make babies?

Doing It for Love shows us what happens after the HEA – the good, the bad and the beautiful. There's the good because, obviously, OTP is officially endgame. But what is life really if it's always going to be sunshine and rainbows, right? There are struggles and problems that couples face in their everyday lives that we don't usually see or read in most romance novels. This book gives us those and handled them realistically. I felt how solid and genuine Liz and Landon's love for each other amidst the challenges that they have to overcome together – from their dwindling sex life to making ends meet. In the end, all these trials just made their relationship even stronger than ever and that right there is where the beauty lies.

One of my gripes though was Liz being a bit too childish and whiny sometimes. There's also Liz and Landon still not having met each other's future in-laws even though they've been together for years. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'd like my parents to meet my boyfriend first before agreeing to marry him.

I'm pretty sure there's more that I didn't like and irked me when I read this weeks ago but honestly, I couldn't remember much of them anymore. The good just far outweighed the bad. I guess it's pretty obvious that I really liked this book. Even though this is another glaring reminder of how perpetually single I am that it made me cry and flail and complain to the heavens above why life is so unfair (I need my own person, too!!!), I couldn't help but want to have this kind of relationship too when the right guy comes for me.

Doing It for Love is a delightful and light contemporary romance that will make you root and swoon for the two characters and will satisfy all the HEA cravings of every romantic out there.

If you've ever wondered what comes after an HEA, what makes relationships cement after all the love and feelings have been explored, then this is the book you want to read. Cassie Mae does an amazing - and adorable- job of painting a realistic story of life after love, life in love. The book is very real, with down to earth everyday characters you can relate with. If you're already in a relationship, this book will make you smile and (double) squeeze your partner. If you're single, this book will make you want to find that other half. Amazing job, Cassie- I absolutely loved it!

Doing It for Love by Cassie Mae
Release information: 9/29/2015
Series: All About Love
Future Release: No Interest In Love
Release: 12/22/2015 pre-order available

So you lusted, you fell in love and you found your happily ever after, what now? Well we’re about to find out as we take the journey with Liz and Landon!

As these two struggle with the day to day survival one thing becomes clear. Their sexual spark has dwindled a bit due to the late hours, the hard work and just life getting in the way.

Newly engaged, Liz comes up with a plan to turn their peas & carrot sex into strawberries & whipped cream. No sex until the honeymoon!

I loved this story! It was like the minute things were off limits, they both wanted each other so much more. The exciting moments that lead up to the final act get skipped to often when you become comfortable in a relationship, this little bet forced these two to focus on the journey with the destination completely off limits, well unless one of them was willing to give in.

Although I typically wouldn’t think I’d enjoy a couple struggling financially as part of a romance story – I did with this. Often times we get wrapped up in the feel of the rich CEO romances because it is so far from our reality that we can forget that we have our own real life struggles to deal with. But with Doing It For Love, this just worked.

There were aspects of their story that I felt so close with. As a woman who is in her mid-thirties, who has been with her husband since she was twenty (OMG, it’s been forever!) I find myself at times in this boat. The excitement of new attraction can so easily turn into this routine. The struggles with making ends meet, keeping things exciting in the bedroom... all of that can weigh you down. I found myself able to relate to Liz so much during this, but what really did it for me was Ryan. Ryan’s reactions at times allowed me to see a hard situation I’m currently experiencing with new eyes.

Whenever I pick up a book by Cassie Mae, I know I am going to walk away with a sugar rush. I adore the sweetness of her love stories. I read this after coming down from some heavy reads and this was the perfect pick-me-up even though I did get emotional (but again that was because aspects at time hit so close to home).

Some fantastic characters are introduced in this first book and I for one can’t wait to find out what is going to happen next! Doing It For Love was a sweet, realistic look into what happens after the boy gets the girl and was enjoyed from start to finish!

I LOVE this book! This story starts out with Liz and Landon getting engaged. To celebrate their engagement, they have sex but it's only mediocre. After being together for 4 years, Liz feels like their sex life should be a little more exciting so she forms a plan. Her and Landon will abstain for sex for the next couple months leading up to the wedding to bring the passion back to their sex life. Landon thinks there's no way Liz will be able to stick to her plan so he makes it more interesting by wagering that whoever holds out gets to pick out their honeymoon location. This was laugh-out-loud funny but also incredibly sweet. I adored this couple! Landon is one of the sweetest and most romantic book heroes ever. I love the idea behind this story and that it wasn't angsty, it was just a fun, sexy, and really hilarious read that made me laugh, smile and swoon. There are some real life issues this couple faces and I love how they faced those issues together. This was absolutely perfect and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a sweet, sexy and funny romance!

Dear Cassie Mae,
Your book made me so happy I cried when it was over.
Love, your number one fan (LENORE -- ME, SCREW ALL Y'ALL, I'M THE BIGGEST FAN)

OK, so for realz.... I was lucky enough to read snippets of this book while Ms. Mae was writing it, so I feel like I've been in love with Lizzie and Landon FOREVER. But reading snippets is NOTHING like reading the final masterpiece. And it was a masterpiece. It was everything I've always loved about Ms. Mae's writing taken to a whole new level. It made me laugh in great guffaws and little giggles. It gave me perma grin. It also gave me unamused and unhappy face, followed by forgiven and fawning face. It gave me the butterflies that Lizzie loves so much -- angels and devils (though more angels than devils). I tried to resist reading this book right away, but I should have known better than to fight the impulse....

OK, so let's try that again...FOR REALZ REALZ. I LOVED Lizzie and Landon. I'm not sure if they beat out my fave book girls and book boys, but you know what they did win? Fave book couple. I LOVED reading a book after the HEA. Who writes that? Cassie Mae, that's who. It was filled with all the things that made me think of my own HEA...the fun, the laughter, the awkward moments, the learning, the missteps, and the full on happiness and love. It was SO REAL.

And you know what? Screw it, Lizzie so totally makes my book girls list, if not tops it. Who wouldn't love this girl? She is HILARIOUS and sweet and caring and selfless, and just full on fun-crazy. But I can't seem to go there without Landon...hence the fave book couple. They are just so perfect for each other. You can physically FEEL their love for each other leaping off the pages.

And Landon Landon Landon....he had a moment of butt-i-tude, but he pretty much won me over hook line and sinker getting me (and Liz) to forgive him. He made me laugh so much, but it was his romantic lines that basically made me melt. I WANT him to be with Lizzie. Because I'm in love with the way he loves her. Again, fave book couple.

LOVED the secondary characters in this one. And knowing that I get to read more of some of them in their own books just made me so excited. Theresa was the BEST best friend. You could totally feel their friend chemistry. Really fell in love with Alec too...I see things there, and I hope I'm right. All the friends moments really felt authentic...like I could totally see the lives that they're all living and sharing moments with each other....

In reality, I loved the whole book (obviously). But I finished reading the wedding and pretty much felt like I'd hit book nirvana. IT WAS PERFECT. I'm honestly trying to find words, but I have none. I just loved it that much that I giddy fangirl all over it. You'll see.

I never know how to end reviews....it's like I run out of steam. You all know I'm a huge fangirl of Cassie Mae's. But there's a reason. This book is a perfect example of that reason. Because in a sea of books with model perfect characters, she gives me a couple that I truly believe could be real, who I WANT to be real. Characters who feel like they could be reflections of me, of my life, of my love. And that's powerful shit.

ps - I named the photographer....(Lenore comes from Helen). Because that's obviously uber important. :P You're welcome literary world, I have made my mark!

pps - THANK YOU NETGALLEY for my early copy of this book!!!

2.5 stars!

This is my first book from the author and I honestly have no idea what to expect in terms of writing style. But I loved the cover and the blurb intrigued me. It's the type of books that would usually work for me. Unfortunately, I didn't really enjoy this one.

At first, it was great. I totally get where Elizabeth is coming from. She's been together with her boyfriend for a long time and now that they're getting married, they seem to just be cruising along. In trying to recapture the "spark" between them in the sheets, she imposed a no-sex rule.

Like I said, I was okay with it. I thought it would be fun read. But then they made it into a competition and suddenly, it feels over-the-top, slapstick-y, and gimmick-y. Liz just annoyed me and I felt like Landon was a bit of a pushover. It went downhill pretty fast and as much I tried to recapture the spark I felt in the beginning of this book, it was never the same again. :(

If you're anything like me, then at one point after finishing a romance novel, you've often wondered what life is like for the couple after that HEA. Cassie Mae explores exactly that in Doing It for Love. I didn't exactly know what to expect when I went into the book, but it surprised me with just how delightful and romantic it was. Landon and Lizzie were at that point in their relationship where their bedroom life wasn't as sizzling as it was in the beginning. When Landon proposes, Lizzie comes up with a plan to abstain until their wedding night so that the anticipation can bring back that spark into their sexy times. What ensued were two horny characters and some hilarious moments of course! I really loved both Lizzie and Landon, but I think I loved them more together as a couple. They were so great together, fighting through whatever obstacle came their way by holding each others' hands. Struggles came into their lives, especially through the form of wedding expenditures and not having a reliable source of income, but through it all, they were supportive and encouraged each others' dreams. It was heartwarming to see them work through their issues side by side. You would think that because they were already a couple that there wouldn't be much romantic tension between them, but no, they had wonderful chemistry together and I really loved the sweet and romantic moments that the two of them shared throughout the book. Both their characters were also well-developed and engaging. I also enjoyed the roles that their friends played in the book and I'm hoping that some of them get paired up and get their own books as well. Overall, Doing It for Love was a wonderful story that was sweet, funny and romantic in every way. I highly recommend it to lovers of contemporary romance.

How do I feel about this book? Well, first off Liz was really really annoying to me. I didn't understand the whole bet thing with no sex until the wedding night just to build the need. It was a bit dramatic and unnecessary. Doesn't Liz know that holding out on a guy for months will only make him not last long? I really enjoyed reading The Real Thing but this was just not my cuppa tea, which is very disappointing. I really liked Landon and I think that's the only reason why I kept on reading. I didn't like Liz's main focus on money for her honeymoon. I can understand a girl wants her perfect wedding and honeymoon but I don't see starving you and your fiancee for it. Even though the author tried to explain all of Liz's reasoning for everything she did, by that time I was done with her. I had really high hopes for this but unfortunately this will go on my do not recommend list.

JUST POSTED ON MY BLOG!

This review is going to be slightly different than my usual thing, because this book just inspires this type of feedback.

I honestly want more stories just like this in literature;

Stories that make you smile so widely and so often your cheeks hurt, but in the best way possible. The kind of way you don't care because dammit, I really needed this. The kind of smiles that linger for entire scenes. That make your entire face scrunch up.

Stories that show established couples just... being happy, living their lives, dealing with silly couple-stuff - not epic misunderstandings/angst/pain. Things you can relate to. Things that make your heart occasionally ache because of how normal and real they are without being overly dramatic or nerve-wrecking.

Stories with couples who are fun, and funny, and teasing and you can't imagine them anymore apart than their friends can, because they are just that perfect for one another and you never once doubt their relationship. Their love. Their rightness.

Stories that make you so damned jealous, because my god, you want to be carrots and peas with someone too!

Stories with nerdy, sweet, messy, real guys that you can crush on and know you can also get in RL, if you look hard enough, because they're not made-up. They are not perfect. And in someway, that makes them perfect on it's own.

Stories that make you feel like part of the gang, a friend to the characters. And as a friend, you see their good and bad parts and you adore them anyway.

Stories that just... make you plain happy.

So go get on it, authors. Cassie Mae can teach you a few things. And as for you, reader... if any of the above interest you - this a book you cannot miss out on.

I received an ARC copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I read from this author and I loved it. I’d read more from her in the future.
Everybody loves to read romantic stories but, what happen after the last chapter? Here Cassie gives us a glimpse of Lizzy and Landon’s life as a couple that has been together for years, recently engaged. They’re seeking that the sparkle at the beginning of their relationship doesn’t disappear.
I felt much related with the story, being a newlywed, and I enjoyed how Cassie managed the relationship between Lizzie and Landon, because it was evident all the love they shared without being corny. It was different, we didn’t get to see the beginning of their relationship, but the ending, how they were still in love despite the time, how the supported each other. Such a cute and adorable couple!
It’s a reading I’d recommend because it guaranties a good time reading it.

Hmmm. At first I thought "this was made for me" just because I'm about to get married too. LOL. But honestly, it was so horrifyingly similar to what I was feeling. So one would say, why just 3 stars though? Eh. I think some of Liz actions were a TAD much. She's a bit immature, I guess because of her age? Twenty two? But I'm just two years or three years older and I'm immature in some ways too. LOL.

I can't really explain it. There were some MEH moments other times like the 'honeymoon' part had me really laughing while she's trying to rip out the spanx off her. :P

On a serious note, I worry about a lot of things. In regards to my wedding. I am lucky just like Liz that we have parents who'll support us and back us up financially. I know they'll do it if I just say it. But as of I now, I don't want to. And honestly too, the problem of Liz can be resolved earlier on if she just talks to Landon. I talk with my partner about after wedding stuffs. And he know how to calm me down by talking some sense into me. Hehe.

This was a great book though. It reminds me of me. And I still have 6 or so months before THE day. I'm an overthinker and I stress about lots of stuffs. I overanalyzed things and it's not good but I guess if we just talk about it to someone, i.e your partner, it'll be good. Guess that what I'll be doing now.

Title: Doing It for Love
Author: Cassie Mae
Series or Standalone: Series Standalone (All About Love #1)
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance, Humor
Rating: 5 Stars *****

Review:

description

If there’s one thing I know I’m guaranteed when I pick up a Cassie Mae book, it’s that I will need to take breaks while reading from the sheer loss of breath I experience from laughing too hard.

Whether it be a novel written in the YA realm, or one such as this one that branches into the New Adult, the response is always the same.

Right from the first page, there’s evidence of this when the female lead, Liz, compares her relationship (or more specifically, their sexual one) with boyfriend, Landon, in terms of food. And not just any food, but the part of your dinner you’re most likely to either eat last or discard altogether.

Peas and Carrots.

Okay so I lied, maybe it’s just me that does that.

Either way, it was the perfect jumping off point for what would become one of the funniest books I’ve read this year, and what I was desperately in need of after spending so much time writing the gut wrenching stuff.

What jumped out at me most about this book can be summed up with one simple statement.

One of these things is not like the other.

Where most romances are based solely around the couple facing insurmountable odds in order to be together, this book comes at it from a different take. The couple that have gone through everything to be together, are together and this is what is affectionately referred to as what comes after the happily ever after. And it was perfect.

I don’t like to use the word perfect often, because nothing is ever truly perfect, but Liz and Landon, and the way their relationship is, right from the first page, straight up until the end was as close to perfect as I can imagine it gets and there was nothing perfect about these people at all. What they had though, it worked because at the end of the day, when you close your eyes and you step away from the story, you’re living their life.

Maybe you’re not living it exactly, but the way Liz gets irritated with Landon’s socks on the floor, even if the item in question is different, if you’ve ever lived with someone long term, and been in love with them, you’ve lived this relationship.

Cassie Mae has always had the ability to write a book drenched in reality. Whether its two awkward teenagers forging their way through daily life and pubescent awkwardness in order to end up together, or two adults in a long term relationship just looking to spice things up after falling into a rut, every step of the way through their journey is very, very real.

Which I suppose makes Cassie Mae “The Real Thing” huh? Lol

Okay, joking aside, this book drew me in on page one and never let up, not once straight up until the end. I laughed so much I cried, I may have stopped breathing at one point, and I straight up pulled my hair out at others based on Landon’s behavior and sometimes even Liz’s. So if this book does nothing else, I can assure you that it will make you feel. Pissed off, swooning, and laughing your ass off or just plain giddy happy, you will feel by the time you turn the very last page and for this writer/reader, that’s what makes the reading world go round.

The character development here was insane. You got to know these people as if they were from your actual life and the pacing was fantastic, with not one instance where I felt the book dragged or there was information given that didn’t in some way further the story toward its end. This book was the perfect combination of humor laced with romance with a dash of realism thrown in, along with a whole lot of dessert references.

Now before I taper off into the end of this review, I want to make mention of one more thing before I go. As I read deeper into this story, quotes resonating with me throughout, there was one quote that seemed to speak to me more than any others because with what I’ve already said about realism, I feel as though we got to see a real glimpse into the author as well. Or at least how I believe her to be when she sits down to write the stories that she does so well.

“I want…” he starts then his eyebrows pull in as a set look of determination takes over. “I want to make people smile. I want to tell an epic story…with laughter. I want to change the way people view the world. I want life to stop being so damn dramatic all the time.”

That quote is Cassie Mae to me (even if Landon said it). It’s a Cassie Mae book to me and quite frankly, is exactly why I am glad authors like her, and characters like the one’s she’s brought to life, exist. Because what Landon wants, is what she has given this reader and it’s a beautiful thing.

So to wrap this up…this story was great and should definitely be read by all. Whether you’re all about that romance or you’re not, there’s something here for you. If you like to laugh, if you like to smile, then you won’t be disappointed with this.

Add everything I’ve already said to the rest of the ensemble cast in this hilarious tale of what comes after the HEA and it’s probably one of the most well rounded and all around great books I’ve read thus far this year and a complete treat to read.

You know, a treat of the cheesecake variety ;)

4-1/2 stars.

This book, ya'll. I loved it!

You know how you always want more after you finish pretty much every romance book ever? You want to know what happens after the couple is together, you want to know about the wedding and babies and how did they work out that pesky living-on-two-separate-sides-of-the-country issue. At least I do.

Doing It for Love answers that what happens next that we all want to know. And it's amazing.

Twenty-two year old Liz Fanning has been with her movie director-hopeful boyfriend, Landon, for four years. Their relationship was crazyhot when they first got together, but now it's fizzled out. After Landon proposes (*squee*), Liz decides that the way to put the spark back in their sex lives is to hold out until their wedding night.
I want him to want me. I want him to want me so bad he can't help himself. I want him to want me like he used to want me--like he can't have me, but he's taking me anyway.

During the process, they remember the reasons they fell in love in the first place and learn a lot about each other as well as themselves.

I loved this story so much. Liz and Landon were realistic and amazing. I loved their friends too. Cassie Mae put a lot of their histories into this story and it was hard not to root for Landon and Liz. I loved that they had real problems, like parents who weren't totally supportive and money issues. And I loved that Liz loves boy bands.

Nsync is the greatest boy band of all time

So what didn't I like? Liz refers to sex (or having an orgasm) as going to "Chocolateville" and while I get that comparison *grin*, I thought she overused it just a tad. It got a little juvenile. But other than that, I don't know how many times or ways I can express how much I loved this story and these characters. I'm so happy that this will be a series because I totally want to know more about Liz and Landon.

If you're looking for a fabulous, fun new adult story that tells the story after the characters fall for each other, then you're going to love Doing It For Love by Cassie Mae. It's smart and funny and sweet and will definitely leave a smile on your face.

**I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.**

This is a book about what happens AFTER you found your "happily-ever-after".

Liz and Landon have been together for four years when they get engaged. And after some mediocre sex after Landon ask her to marry him, Liz comes up with a plan: No sex until they are married, hoping that would bring a sense of anticipation and spark back to their relationship. She wants that "newness" feeling back with dates, flirting, and just some old fashion make-out sessions.

I was the same age as Liz when I married my husband (22 years old). I completely related to the fears and concerns about being a young married couple.

I loved this story.

So to be honest, there are some authors, who's books I will just read, without regards to cover.. and .. uhm.. this is kinda embarrassing... the blurb. Mae happens to be one of them. I love her How To Series, so basically knowing this is new adult by Mae... was simply good enough for me to wanna get my hands on it.
I did read the blurb when I requested it... I really did... Promise! I did!
But when I started this- I was rather iffy about it. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. At around 15% I didn't particularly like the heroine...
Then one of my reading buddies gave it 3 Stars- and I felt even more unsure.
So I put this aside for a while... a few weeks to be exact.
When I picked it up again, I thought of it as a chore- feeling I'd have to read it, because it was an ARC... And then.. well... I simply fell in love.

Before I gash about how Mae stole my stone heart - let me just get the negative out of the way
I didn't like Liz much for the first quarter of the book- I found she was manipulative and even more so she was a whiner. If you feel you vegetables- do something?! I could not relate to wedding dramas- since I had a super small and simple wedding, which is what I was more than happy with. I do however know that a lot of girls feel like Liz... so I kinda decided I could live with it.
And then as the story progressed I more and more grew to like Liz. But most importantly I totally related to her and Landon.
Which is part of the magic of this book.

Look this is the story after the HEA- well kind of. They are together, they know they love each other. It's basically the journey of two people who found their hearts. If you expect the usual romance plot- well you won't find it here.
There is very little romance cliche in this one- which I personally found so freakn awesome.
This is a different and wonderful look at love. Probably more realistic than most novel I have read. It's quirky and unique in the best way. I felt moved and touched by Doing It For Love. I laughed and smirked at the jokes and mishaps.
Though Liz and Landon's story and relationship is so different than mine and Mr. O - it also is so similar. The little insider things, the reality of family, the worries.. somehow I guess most couples have those and that's how Mae won me over.
It's a unique take on the romance novel- so a different really fun storyline

But the best part of this was the character building. Each of the character felt real. I feel like I got to know the entire cast. The families were totally interesting, I could so relate to it....I mean Landon's mother- lmao, damn she reminds me of mr. O's mum, different but oh so similar

SO one of the most moving romances I ever read. I think Mae written magic with this one.
Entertaining, sweet, fun, unique and touching!

“He braces himself on the mattress as he lowers us on the comforter, still kissing me with the deepest of kisses, both of us gasping for air every time we part. I’m thinking yes! We still got it. But I’m also thinking I need to hear words before we go anywhere. I need the sorries and the I love yous and I’ll never do this again. And it bugs me that he’s not saying anything.”

5 stars! Super cute and fun book! Definitely not disappointed by this book one bit!!

Cassie Mae’s charming, sexy new novel, perfect for fans of Emma Chase, puts a steamy twist on modern love as one bride-to-be tries to put the spark back in the bedroom—by any means necessary.

Elizabeth Fanning’s life looks pretty perfect, judging by the diamond ring on her finger. Her fiancé, Landon, is sweet, handsome, and hilarious. The trouble is, before they’ve even tied the knot, their sex life has gone from mind-blowing to “meh”—and Liz isn’t ready to be part of an old married couple.

So they raise the stakes: Whoever lasts longer gets to pick their honeymoon destination. With her heart set on the Bahamas and Landon fighting for snowbound Utah, Liz simply has to win. But pretty soon, her body is screaming for attention, and Landon’s never seemed so far away. Has Liz’s experiment backfired? Losing their little competition would be frustrating—but the one thing she can’t afford to lose is him.

Liz and Landon just got engaged and to celebrate their engagement, they have sex, unfortunately it was just mediocre sex. Liz feels like after being together for 4 years, their sex life should be more exciting than it is, so she comes up with an idea. She wants to not have sex until they get married, in hopes that that will bring the passion back to their sex life. Landon is positive that Liz won’t be able to hold out and makes a bet that whoever gives in first will get to pick their honeymoon destination. This book was funny and cute!! There were a lot of laugh out loud moments and sweet adorable moments!!

"I don't want you to think I'm just trying to get in your pants. I want in your brain too."

I don't know why I even wasted time putting off this book. It was sweet and laughable - many moments made me genuinely laugh out loud. The author is one I've read before and I don't know why I would've expected less - the first novel I read by this author was Switched. It was just as funny as this one - I may've enjoyed this more.

The main premise of the book was one of a common problem I've heard of many couples over time. The relationship get stronger, but the sex gets... well less then. It's normal - there's social science research to back it up. Passionate love will over time decrease and companionate love increases over time.

Anyway, now that I'm done nerding out...

The book was relatable and the author did a great job on supporting characters. I pray that one of the books following this is about Alec and Theresa. Please Cassie Mae, please. The tension and humour from Landon's side of the family was hilarious. His mother hated Liz and his father was just confused.

"I bet Helen wonders if one of us needs a green card."

And I think my favourite laugh out loud moment was when Liz and Landon announced their wedding date to Mr. Wangford.

"We've set the date for Jan-" "The baby is due in January?" Mr. Wangford says, eyes wide...

I like the realness of the novel - Liz and Landon fight because, yes that happens in real life. Liz worries that they don't have passion, and Landon is oblivious. I love the realness, this is exactly why I will continue to read Cassie Mae. Amazing writing with comedy throughout and some steamy scenes.

The best part of the novel is that there is already past between Landon and Liz; the novel wasn't lengthly and wasted on trying to create how they meet and getting to know one another. This way I'm not judging if they're going to fast or any of the stuff that can usually cause waves for me.

So much love for this book, Doing It for Love was such a good read.

She and Landon may never be able to re-create the magic of their first time, but how amazing would their wedding night be if everything below the neck was off-limits until then?

And let the games begin! Could they last five months with no sex?

Lizzie and Landon were both likable and very relatable characters, loved them both!

From the first page I fell in love with Lizzie, I loved her passion, her determination and how she loved Landon unconditionally, all she wanted was for him to go after his dreams and she was be happy.
Sure she had her moments of immaturity but don't we all?

Then we have Landon, O.M.G did he make me swoon!
The way he loved Lizzie, there are no words... the things he would say and the little things he did just made my heart melt. I shed a few happy and emotional tears :)

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin with this review. I am without a doubt a Cassie Mae fangirl because she constantly hits me in the gut with her words. But more importantly than that, the first thing that really comes to mind about a Cassie Mae book is that there's so much consistency. Doing it for Love is a continuation of this exact truth. I think it's good to keep in mind that this book is a little unlike her other works as it has a much more adult theme.

My favorite thing about Doing it for Love (and all her books) is that when I'm finished, I feel happy and hopeful. That's not always an easy thing to find in this society anymore and yet here she does it with her words. It's a talent that not every author holds and seems to always be looked over in the best of them. I KNOW when I pick up a Cassie Mae book, I'm going to finish it with butterflies in my belly and joy imprinted on my soul and I just don't know how you can ask any more of an author than that.

Real. That's exactly how Doing it for Love feels. An honest look into the relationship of two struggling adults that most of us live through just like Liz and Landon every. single. day. And one of the best parts about her writing is that she always leaves a lasting lesson that everyone can bury in their soul and use for everyday life. As always, her descriptions and word sorcery resonate a story we can all walk away from feeling good about. Scenes so sweet not only will they make your cheeks hurt, they'll draw tears from a tenderness you didn't see coming and yet sets the underlying love between two characters apart from that of many other books you find on your reading device today.

Doing it for Love by Cassie Mae is quotable, relatable and just downright adorable. Not a book to one click and let sit on your kindle, it's a book to one-click and immediately read.
