A domestic terrorist is on the loose and a gang war is about to erupt - just another day for the hard-pressed crime scene investigation team in this high-octane mystery based on characters from the smash hit TV series.
This was a really busy book, at least three cases and four stories going on at the same time. For the most part Mariotte manages to keep all the stories moving forward, interweaving them into a rich tapestry. After all, that's what most people do at work, they don't have the luxury of working one thing until it's done and then moving to something new, but work on multiple things at once.
One of the smaller stories did get a bit lost in the shuffle unfortunately, not to mention the ending seemed a bit rushed. After all the complex setting up everything fell into place within a couple of pages. It wasn't a bad idea for an ending, just could have been spaced out more like the rest of the book.
All in all an okay book that stayed pretty true to the TV series (though as usual, it needed more Calleigh and Natalia). A quick, enjoyable read for someone looking for something while waiting for their next favorite author's book release.
They say save the best for the last. But this had been saving the worst for the last. Probably the worst CSI Miami book I've read and I thought the Cortez one was bad All the characters except to an extent Calliegh and mind you there wasn't much of her were OOC. The timeline was confusing at best. If Marisol was dead then so was Raymond and this author talks as if he is alive Also Ryan is spoken of having just joined the lab in one of the scenes but again he joined in season 3 Marisol died at the end of season 4. This looks like it's somewhere at S5 And the scene where Horatio did not want to interview that kid's murderer. I can't think of a single scene where Horatio would act like that. The whole series revolves around his compassion for the victims. There is no way after having made a promise to the victim's sister would Horatio have put a case on the back burner like this Honestly this is one book I wish I hadn't read
Well, I said I was going to read 52 books this year. What I didn't say is that I would read 52 good books. Most unintentionally unfortunate moment: Horatio promises the family of a Latino victim that he cares, and will definitely follow through. Then some high profile white people get killed and we don't hear a thing about the first victim for close to 100 pages. Whoops, not even the author cared.
