Minnie is super-strong and super-anxious… but she’ll have to journey through the MicroRealm to save her best friends: her five pets!
Her parents are famous scientists and multiverse travel influencers…but Minnie Pouches hates being on camera. She feels too big, too shy, and too nervous. She can’t even finish an important middle school project! One day, when the pressure becomes too much, Minnie rage-quits her parents’ show and activates her stylish fanny pack to disappear into the MicroRealm. Now, far from home, she’ll dance through encounters with greasy pizza dinosaurs, angry laser robots, and toothy pool floats to push past her fears, find her missing pets, and save the entire family.
Crack open new worlds of adventure in this all-new graphic novel from Eisner-winner Caleb Goellner (TMNT/Naruto, Ghost Cage) and Eric Lide (Sonic the Hedgehog, DragonForged: Sword of the Champion).
Minnie pouches is a fun adventure with a strong emotional core. We get to explore a cascade of different 'MicroRealms' while Minnie recovers her beloved pets only to learn they've developed their own super powers. What follows is a story about found family, reclaiming power, rebuilding, and surviving a family that doesn't see you for who you are. The illustrations are adorable and there's plenty of silliness to keep the whole thing a romp even dealing with some of the heavier emotions that come with a character who is seeking belonging.
Would highly recommend as a friendly comic for a younger audience. The super powered pets alone would make it worth the ride, and the effective and charming core message seals the deal.
Thanks to Netgalley and IDW Publishing for the ARC of this comic.
Minnie Pouches is here to save the day and explore super cool realms.
Minnie is the daughter of influencers who discovered microrealms and explore them for view while Minnie films them. When they get into a fight, Minnie finds herself going to different places while reuniting with her pets.
This book made me laugh and yearn for the ability to jump inside the pages.
The different worlds range from everything to dino-pizza world to a realm where everything is a puzzle, with stunning illustrations accompanying the hilarious story.
Here’s hoping for more from Minnie Pouches!
Thank you to IDW Publishing I Top Shelf Productions and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for free in exchange for my honest review.
This was a fun graphic novel jumping between worlds. Minnie is a brilliant character who knows her strengths but the people around her tell her she should embrace being strong. Let the big girls enjoy dancing! Really cool illustration style too.
Allowed my preteen to read and she thoroughly enjoyed Minnie. She believed that she was a strong character and like all of the different settings. She felt as if she related to the character and wants more.
I bought this book for my 10 year old niece and she LOVES it. She was very excited about Minnie and especially all of Minnie's pets. Our niece received several graphic novels for her birthday - and this is the one she cannot stop talking about. Highly recommend.
I heavily recommend this for children as they progress from short sentence storybooks to short novels. The plot was adventurous, taking full advantage of imagination or 'realm' as in the comic. The characterization of the parents was portrayed in such a way that her feelings and emotions spoke without requiring her verbal affirmation. I really enjoyed the depiction.
The artstyle is very cute and inviting. I love how her friends are not stereotyped to fit a 'box'.
Dysfunctional though her family may be, I love how she overcomes all life's worries (be it emotional or physical) with the assurance that she will succeed in the end.
P.S. Thank you to NetGalley and IDW Publishing for allowing me to receive an ARC copy!
