This was a great story with a lot of action and fun to listen to. The main character Gage was struggling a lot with ptsd, which was probably a little on the dramatic side of him falling in and out of consciousness. Also the narrator’s voice was over the top at times and sounded like a now in theaters commercial. Overall the story was good and I liked the ending.

Gage Dawson … haunted by the past, Part of him is still “in” Afghanistan … reliving via flashbacks the events he witnessed … the events he was a party to … things he couldn’t stop or change. Now, he gets by as a thief … a very good thief … until one job goes horribly… epically wrong … and he becomes the “Watcher on the Edge”. Fast moving, engaging and engrossing, I was completely consumed by this one! I loved how incredibly well the characters were drawn, detailed and defined. I had my favorites and of course I also had a few that I would cheerfully have turned into the authorities myself were I able! I’ll not say who fell where, no need to play spoiler, but know that each and every character comes across as throughly human, authentic and relatable! The plot is intriguing twisty gold! I stay up far too late, lost sleep, and ordered take out when I should have been cooking because I didn’t want to stop listening! I’m not going to give details because each listener deserves to experience this beauty without having any of the “surprises” spoiled! “Watcher on the Edge” - smooth, intriguingly entertaining, fabulously narrated and sooooo truly worth a listen! I five fantastic stars LOVED it!

Gage, is a veteran with PTSD who has taken to doing construction jobs and robbery on the side. After he witnesses a murder during one of his break-ins, he becomes obsessed with trying to find a way to bring the murderer to justice. This lands him in a convoluted series of events that put him and his friends in danger.

Great premise and that's about it. Gage has to seriously be the most annoying main character in the history of main characters you will hate. It's not his PTSD or paranoid delusions or moral compass that strikes North only when he seems so. It is the insufferable chatter that characterises his chaos. It isn't something you can even take seriously. You as a reader want him to be shot at a point just so that he would shut up.

The story was fine but I couldn't extricate myself from disliking the main character. The ending felt a bit too pretty and cinematic. It should have stayed one chapter short at least to redeem itself as a story.

This is an unusual Crime thriller in which the main character is an ex army soldier turned thief afflicted by flashbacks of his time in Afghanistan. Whilst involved in an otherwise successful robbery he witnesses a murder which change his life . A rather convoluted tale but well executed by narrator Christopher Ragland . Fast paced and action filled, it is unfortunate that none of the characters are sympathetic but it was, overall, intriguing or enjoyable.

Watcher on the Edge was entertaining, Army veteran and burglar Gage Dawson was a compelling character, and the pacing wasn’t slow. For me, the narrator Christopher Ragland just wasn’t a good fit.

He’s an experienced narrator with a diverse background, but nearly every sentence ended with a dramatic down drop in his tone. It wasn’t an "every now & then" thing, it was just about every sentence. This unfortunately left the characters seeming flat, uninteresting, unrelatable, and one-dimensional.

Complex and intricate, this story is really very fascinating. We have a murder "mystery" that ends up having tendrils deep in unexpected areas. With our main guy being a Vet with severe PTSD, it's hard for him to get traction on his findings. So there is that whole aspect as well.

Amazingly well-woven. It's hard to keep a good story going with so many threads coming from here and there, but this author managed to make it happen and keep it interesting.

Yeah, the story was just OK. I liked the character gave although he made such stupid decisions. I wanted to slap his head at times what get some sense and jam. I’m not happy that the end didn’t really resolve things with Cara. And what I really hated is that the end implies that there’s another part of the story that we don’t know unless we get the next book is that even exist. That kind of thing annoys me. I don’t like books that don’t wrap things up for me.

I was engaged immediately by this book! I listen to books while driving on long trips and my metric is whether I am distracted enough that I am NOT thinking, "Are we there yet?". If it is a great story, I will sometimes drive around awhile to get through a good part. I am only 1.5 hours in an have already done that!

Bonus: He has already used my FAVORITE word, PETRICHOR! Petrichor was recently added to major dictionaries!

I love the narrator. I love the main character. I loved the setup of morally gray a thief, a veteran haunted by his past. I did like the happy ending also leaving room for more. However, I didn't like the how the murder was resolved. I think it was lacking, the plot was pretty much an open window at this point considering how may holes it had. If you're looking for a cozy mystery with a little bit of edge where heavy subjects are exposed but not explored, and happy ending, this is your book.

Review: this book was annoying. Gage was the dumbest thief ever in the history of thievedom. by the end, I just wanted Gage to die. he did everything wrong.

Premise: Gage is conducting a routine burglary when he witnesses the mark get murdered in cold blood. When Gage decides to blackmail the killer, he unknowingly steos into a fight involving the cartel. Now, its millions of dollars at stake and someone's out to kill him.

Am Afghanistan veteran with PTSD turned thief witnesses a murder and proceeds to mess up every step of his plans thereafter.
A good mystery, kept me guessing, liked the ending, good depiction of PTSD and the horrors that come with it.
Plus got to learn a bit about crypto currency throughout due to murder money.
