Some people just seem to know they are meant to write, but it can still take a while to figure out exactly what their career will entail. Kate Douglas started out writing radio copy for a country western radio station in 1972, wrote and illustrated an educational cartoon strip for the American Mosquito Control Association for a number of years, was a newspaper reporter for a small town weekly where she covered everything from high school sports to drug busts, and then, in the mid-1980s, decided to write her first romance.

Many submissions and rejections followed.

In 1998, she sold to a small ebook publisher before anyone knew what an ebook was, but it wasn't until 2005, a full twenty years after finishing that first romance, that she signed with a New York publisher.

In January 2006, Kensington Publishing launched their Aphrodisia imprint of erotic romance with Kate's Wolf Tales, a sexy paranormal series about a lost race of shapeshifters. She went on to write 21 novels and novellas in that series, then wrote three other series for Kensington before moving to St. Martin's Press.

She has two series with SMP--The Intimate Relations series complete with three novels and one novella of romantic suspense set in California's wine country, and an erotic paranormal series, Feral Passions, set in California's Trinity Alps.

She is also continuing her Spirit Wild series, the sequel to Wolf Tales, independently.

Kate and her husband of over forty-five years have two adult children and six grandchildren. They live in the small town of Healdsburg, California, in the heart of the beautiful Sonoma County wine country.

Ulrich just could not wait to get Millie and her biological twins together, since her uncle gave them away after birth. Millie did get a chance to meet Tala but the Chanku packs could not find Adam.

UNTIL....Oliver was driving down a road going back to the Montana pack after picking up a truck for Stefan for his birthday. He noticed a man and briefly looked at him. It was pouring rain and just as he passed the man, Oliver's truck broke down. Talking about coincidence. They wound up sleeping in the truck.

Adam has been figured out to be a healer/fixer. Once they reached the ranch, Adam and Oliver really got to know each other-one problem though, Oliver is not Chanku-or at least so we thought, when a secret is revealed about Oliver that again, Adam fixes.

While Adam is staying at the Montana's ranch, he meets a soon to be Chanku, Eve. They begin to slowly talk and then the heat rises and before you know it, they are under the sheets. Everything feels right to both of them and all is good, except Eve is getting a little nervous. She talks to Anton. As long as she is not in love with Adam the mating really cannot take place. Anton loans Eve the truck and off she goes.

This novella is yet another that I could not wait to finish and get to the next---Wolf Tales VI (Wolf Tales (Aphrodisia)).

The first book is Chanku Destiny by Kate Douglas. This is my very first book by Kate Douglas and I was a little worried about jumping in the middle of the ongoing Chanku series. But, I was pleasantly surprised that I quickly got to know and care for the many characters in the book. (I'm sure that some of the couples got together in previous books, which I plan on going back and reading.) The two main characters in this short story, Adam and Eve, got to know one another in this book, but that's it. They did not have their HEA. I'm sure that is to come in the next book, which I look forward to reading. This story was very sexy with m/f, m/m/f and m/m. (4 stars)

Abundance by Deanna Lee was very good. This was my first book by this author and I would be interested to read more from her. The story is set in the future and Jude is a shifter (Panther), but neither of those aspects play a prominent part in the story. It could just as easily been a contemporary romance. I liked their relationship and it had a nice HEA. (4 stars)

The last book, Passion of the Cat by Dawn Thompson, I just couldn't get into and finally gave it up.

'Chanku Destiny,' by Kate Douglas is a shapeshifting story, continuing Douglas Chanku story line from her other Sexy Beast anthologies. A newcomer is welcomed into the pack.

In Deanna Lee's story, 'Abundance' Kayla wakes up after spending 40 years in a pod. She encounters Jude, a panther-like shapeshifter and takes a liking to him.

Dawn Thompson's 'Passion of the Cat' starts out in India in 1800s where a man is attacked by a snow leopard. He is nursed to health, and then returns to England, but the full moon stirs memories, desires and and itching to claw! As with her other books, Thompson's writing is so lovely. Three stories that is something for everyone. Nice wintry night read.

Chanku Destiny by Kate Douglas

Adam "Wolf" West is finally found. We find out he has some special abilities when he helps fix Oliver. We also meet his intended mate Eve. Adam and Eve, how silly is that? Either way this story had me shedding a few tears and really enjoying myself for the most part.

This story has plenty of graphic G/G and M/M sexual exploits as well as threesomes and foursomes. There is nothing light about Kate Douglas' erotica, there is really nothing left to the imagination. If this is what you are seeking then you have found an entertaining series.

In this quick read we see how Oliver first met Adam and we get introduced to Eve. Eve isn't ready to tie herself to anyone she wants to experience her new found self. Adam helps Oliver to discover a part of himself that he thought was long gone and never to be retrieved. I loved this story very touching.

Chanku destiny, this was an odd story. Hot scenes but the whole fate destiny and switching partners was not my cup of tea.
Abundance was the best of the 3 stories. Steamy and good detail.
Last was passion of the cat, odd, difficult to follow the language.
Overall was a decent collection of stories.

Kate is briliant so is the second writer, but the third one was questionable. I couldn't stay focused enough to read it but I got through it.
