I’m giving this a five before I read it due to the author quoting the infamous posts in the Psychological Thrillers Facebook group regarding the unbelievable phenomenon of characters releasing “breaths thy didn’t know they were holding”. I feel seen because my god this has never happened to me. Will be back to update after I read it!
At first, I thought it felt a little juvenile. Maybe even cheesy. I genuinely didn’t think it was going to be for me. And wow, was I wrong.
This ended up being a true five star read.
Somewhere along the way, everything just clicked. The tone that originally threw me started to feel intentional. The parts that felt different became the exact reason it stood out. And once I was in, I was all in.
It’s currently two hours past my bedtime because I had to finish it. I needed to know how it ended. That’s always the sign of a great thriller for me. When I cannot physically put it down.
It’s not your typical thriller, and I think that’s why I loved it so much. It has a distinct voice and a style that feels different in a good way. It stands out. It takes risks. And for me, it absolutely paid off.
If you’re a thriller lover and want something that doesn’t feel cookie cutter, I highly recommend this.
Just don’t judge it too early like I almost did. 😇
Maybe the dumbest, worst-written book I have ever attempted to read. Basic writing with many misused words, one-dimensional characters who all had the same voice and zero development. A hideous attempt. I’m positive all the five star reviews are from the author’s friends and they didn’t actually even read the book.
This was brilliant. It was so much fun reading the four different character points of view with their different perspectives of the same situations happening to them. The reactions they expected versus the reactions they received as they twisted and connived was comical. And Harry Shoe! How could you not laugh at a name like that!
If negative stars were an option, I would use them. I genuinely do not understand the praise this book receives.
The premise felt weak from the start, the plot was predictable, and there was no real suspense. I kept waiting for something shocking or clever to happen, and it never did.
I usually do not finish books that are not working for me, but I kept going because of the strong reviews, convinced something big had to happen.
A chaotic story is not the same as a compelling one. This was neither exciting nor surprising. I would not recommend it.
with its predictable plot, it felt like this author included unnecessary sentences in order to make the book seem longer. i’m disappointed as i’ve heard great things about this book. this was my first of this author and probably my last.
Never was a title morw fitting. A clusterf*ck of shite writing from start to finish. I beg you, think before inflicting your writing on the world without an editor.
I have yet to be disappointed in any of Brian's books and Clusterf*ck is no exception! I felt this was a bit different than anything I have read by him. Super short chapters that make you say "just one more" about 60 times in a row. Chapter 107 had me clenching my jaw badly with the thought "WTF is about to happen"! Well done Brian. First book in many months that made me stop almost everything to finish in 24 hours. Looking forward to the next one!
Brian D. O'Sullivan - Author's Clusterf*ck grabs you by the collar, smirks in your face, and takes you on a wild ride that you never want to end.
The super short chapters are like small doses of adrenaline that keep you coming back for more. Each one has a punchline, a twist, or a moment of pure character gold. It's "just one more chapter" and before you know it, you've read half the book.
The first-person point of view that flips in each chapter is what makes the experience incredible. It gives the story a raw, intimate, and sometimes hilarious edge. You’re not just reading about the chaos—you’re inside it, feeling every awkward mishap, every sharp observation. O'Sullivan's character dialogue is so good that you'll forget you're reading but feel like you're part of the conversations (there's none of that overdone "he said, she said, he said, she said" crap).
The pace is perfect and the characters seem like actual individuals you've met (and maybe tried to avoid). From beginning to end, it's smart, snappy, and very exhilarating.
Clusterf*ck is the only choice if you want something clever, fast-paced, and hard to put down!
Brian Fkn O’Sullivan this was an incredible book. I stumbled on this book accidentally while looking on my kindle for my next read. This popped out, I have never read anything from this author, thought hmm let’s give it a go. Hooked me immediately which is ALWAYS my favorite. I read for enjoyment and I want to enjoy it the whole time, not half way through. Anyway. The I loved the short chapters, all the POV’s the plot, the twist. I have more to say but I don’t want to spoil it. Why have I never heard of this author, I’m interested if the other books are just as good. 10/10 highly recommend.
Well done, sir!!!! I absolutely could NOT stop reading this one!! I'm already a huge fan of this author, but he has truly outdone himself. 5 ⭐s, 10/10, you absolutely have to read this book!!!!
I finished this book with the hopes it would get better. I was sorely disappointed. The writing was bad, the characters were unlikeable, and nothing truly interesting happened. I don't recommend this book.
Wow what a ride this was!! Definitely has an appropriate title! Short fast chapters, twists and turns and the shock factor had me reeling!! I ate this book up and would definitely recommend!!
Brian O'Sullivan has done it again!! A book that truly lives up to its name. Twists, turns and WTF moments galore. And that ending!!! Go grab your copy now.
One of my absolute favorite authors and a truly nice guy who engages with his readers. Thank you 😊
Totally enjoyed the short chapters and how it helped move the story forward making you say, “I have time for one more 5 minute chapter.” Before I knew it, all 109 chapters were done!
4.25⭐️ This was a very fast paced book with lots of short chapters, which made it really easy to read. The twists and different points of view kept things interesting. Overall a fun and entertaining read.
Love love love! The twists and the unpredictability was on point! It had me second guessing what I thought and I was NOT ready for half of what happened. The characters could have used some more developing… but the story it’s self made up for it.
New author for me! I was intrigued from the first page and it was a wild ride. I guess the right person prevailed in the end ... but I wish, for once, the bad guy won. Ha ha ha
I loved this one!!! Full of absolute chaos from start to finish, this book is a clusterf*ck of a read!
Fast-paced, multiple POV, toxic relationships, totally unhinged, unputdownable (I read it in one day), characters you love to hate, it’s everything you need in a book!!
This book...just WOW! Page one looks you dead in the eye and basically pats you on the head and says, “Have fun!” before tossing you into the chaos of what's to come!
April’s split‑second choice to follow a charming stranger turns into a deadly partnership full of lies, danger, and power plays. You never really know who’s in control, and that’s what makes it so addictive.
It’s messy, it’s unhinged, and honestly? It fits the title perfectly. The short chapters kept me flying through the literal craziness of it all.
Since this was my first, I will definitely be reading more by Brian.
April never dreamed that meeting a handsome stranger in her coffee shop would lead to this.
Eddie just wants what should be his. The two realize they can help each other achieve their twisted goals. It truly is one massive clusterf*ck.
Brian’s books never disappoint and this one lives up to that standard. Every twist had me unsure what would happen. This book grabbed me in a chokehold, smacked me across the face, and made me question everything. And honestly, I was good with that.
O'Sullivan does it again!!! His stories and his writing style is just so unique and I have thoroughly enjoyed every book of his that I have read and I have read many of them. The multi-narrative in this novel fit so well and I just loved how you got to see each character's perspective. The antagonist, was pure gold. It was just so evil how this person thought. The ending, although it seemed abrupt, fit the story like a glove. I highly, highly recommend basically anything this author writes!
I have read most of his novels, but this is certainly one of his best! The chapters are short , but it is impossible to put down since each chapter switches between characters' points of view. Put this on your TBR list!
Brian has done it again. it's funny, it's full of crime and a little bit of romance but the best part of all is there is a character in it named after my sister. I absolutely adore Brian's writing style and story telling.
What made me pick up this book was the cover.... and the title! 😆 And I really liked Clusterf*ck!! 😍 Brian O'Sullivan was a new-2-me-author... and now I'm curious to know what else he has written!
