For a princess, becoming the savior of a nation could mean sacrificing love and life in this breathtaking conclusion to the epic Eye of the Goddess trilogy by USA Today bestselling author Sariah Wilson.

Princess Lia of Locris is the unlikeliest person to be Ilion’s defender. Once, she’d have gladly seen the entire adversarial nation burn. But much has changed. Ilion is home to too many innocents, including her sister. Besides, there is no escaping the goddess’s command. Lia is Ilion’s prophesied savior.

With that mortal obligation come She must never consummate her marriage to Xander, prince of Ilion, lest she lose her powers of divine magic when she needs them most. Physically bonded to share each other’s pain, these former enemies have grown from merely attracted to something more profound. But what future can they have when Lia’s destiny requires sacrificing her life?

As enemies close in and war threatens everything they love, Lia and Xander must find a way to follow the goddess’s laws while also accepting the truth in their hearts—before the prophecy demands its final, fatal price.

Would’ve rated 3 stars if the first 40% of the book had been cut. Nothing happens except awkward unrealistic conversations that lead no where. There’d be a heart to heart and they’d both still leave not sure of their feelings or the other persons. The conversations were so stiff and wordy. People do not sit down out of nowhere and express themselves in the way the author tried to portray them. We went from a fiery brave and sharp tongued girl in the first book to a cowardly confused wimp in the first half of this book. It made no sense. There’d be legitimate reasons to get mad and she’d just tell herself not to get mad and boom she was all cheery. Also the mmc lost all of his personality and just said things the author thought would make the audience happy. Also the will they won’t they was not hitting. She’d say no to sex then try and seduce him back to feeling guilty and it was boring to read over and over. I may be overly harsh on this book but it’s because I LOVED the first one and I was so disappointed when these last two came out. It was like the characters lost all personality and became obviously made up characters that were not relatable at all.

Speaking of prophesies… I foresee and hope this will be the best book of the trilogy! May the goddess bless us with the marriage being consummated and no more unnecessary banter!

This was my favorite book of the trilogy! I truly loved it. Lia and Xander had so much growing up in this book. Having been able to squash any problems and finally truly understand one another. I loved that we were finally able to get answers as to why they did what they did. Xander always loving Lia from the first time she punched that goose, squeezed my heart and had me giggling. I am also very glad that the book didn’t feel rushed or fluffed up or dragged out. I love a good happy ending, I disappear into books to lift me away into another world and feel immersed. That is how I felt while reading this book. I love how Luna went from Lizard to baddie dragon. Without Luna nothing would have worked out the way it did. As well as every main character had a pivotal roll to play in ending the war and working together. I was giddy, nervous, sad, annoyed, and excited, throughout the tale. Love, love, loveddd

Ugh I’m so sad this series is over 😭 it’s the best feeling when a story captures your heart and consumes your mind the way this one did for me!! This finale was such an exciting and fulfilling end to the trilogy. All the major plot points come together and every question gets answered. I feel like everything I wanted out of this ending came true and UGH my heart I just love these characters. Normally when I read Romantasy it’s the couple that has me obsessed (and dont get me wrong I was kicking and screaming when that 3 book slow burn between Lia and Xander finally came to its head!!🔥) but the found family with Lia and her sisters truly stole the show for me. I loved watching the girls explore their magic and all find love in their own ways.

That said I have to knock a star as this book seemed to lack the descriptive writing I loved in the first two, leaving certain scenes flatter than they could have been, especially moments that clearly deserved more detail like I would have LOVED for more expansion on Suri. Without spoiling anything I just think there were some “wait what??” moments that only got a page or two. At the end of the day this didn’t affect my love of the series, but it was noticeable and pulled me out of my read a bit.

Overall this trilogy has solidified itself as one of my all time favorites. One I’ll recommend over and over again and think about long after that last page.

Thank you so much to Sariah for the ARC! This is my unbais and authentic review of the series.

This was such a fun, lighthearted trilogy! I flew through all 3 of these and I really enjoyed the whole journey. The character development was great! I loved so many of the characters in this world and they all got their moments. All of the loose ends were tied up well, and we got a feel-good type of ending. This trilogy is very underhyped!

Sorry, but I thought this was pretty bad. Way too many moments of sudden discoveries at just the right time. Like, yall had no idea what the real vows and rules were, and then suddenly after everything, Io and Suri find books with all the rules magically laid out? And don’t even get me started on the cave trials. I saw every twist coming, but our supposedly smart af FMC didn’t? Everything was somehow overtly simplistic and contrived. Not for me.

Maybe I ignored the warning signs in books 1 & 2 but wow was this awful. It was like listening to a high schooler fret over their crush nonstop. All the action was condensed into lackluster trials…. the trial of wind: you’ll cross a bridge when it’s really windy. A female lead so clueless that you wonder how you’re supposed to believe she’s the chosen savior. Her?

This book was non stop the entire time! The plot was plotting! Many times I had to set my book down because my Adelphia was going through it! The cave and elemental trials were so unique. The cave was like an escape room and I was on the edge of my seat.

I loved Lias growth. I think for her age and experience it all unfolded exactly as it needed to. The way she allowed herself to be honest and vulnerable with Xander. The love confessions...🥰🥰🥰 this may be an unpopular opinion but I really enjoy single POV because we get to see everything from the fmc perspective and we learn so much about her relationship with Xander and it comes together so well. Especially because last book definitely had some frustrating moments for these characters.

So much happened. I'll just leave it at that. My jaw was on the floor multiple times.

I laughed and cried and had the best time! This wrapped everything up and we get to see things come full circle. The ending was absolutely perfect! I will recommend this trilogy forever!

So very very disappointed. The first book was so good I was hopeful.
But the writing was so dictating, and the plot progression at times felt completely unwarranted. I would’ve rather not known any of the details about her adelphia and instead explored Lia’s character and thought process more.

The characters were great enough on paper but lacked any sort of real depth. In the end, I wasn’t even invested in Lia’s story.

So gutted this trilogy is over - every single book was absolutely incredible!

Really picks up around the 50% mark, can’t tell you how many tears I’ve cried during the last 40% alone. 2 and a half books of YEARNING and we finally get our Xander & Lia moment😭❤️

Also don’t get me started on Demaratus I will actually start crying my eyes out again

this was a fine end to a fine trilogy. the first book was BY far my favorite and then the second and third book were progressively less to my liking. this story somehow felt rushed yet also things seemed to drag on for a long time. bummer.

Ok the first two books were mediocre but I wanted to finish the trilogy and this book was one of the worst writing I have ever read with my two poor eyes.

Her writing is insanely flat. Everyone’s dialog is stilted and very abrupt. The trials of the elements was a joke. Huge revelations happen and everyone reacts with rje equivalent of NOICE. Just the worst book I have read this year.

SO glad we finally moved away from the miscommunication trope. The first two books were unbelievably frustrating because of it.

I really enjoyed the plot, world-building, and most of the side characters (Lia remains, as always, insufferable). That said, the writing itself kept pulling me out of the story. The prose reads at a very elementary level, with overly simple syntax and a heavy reliance on telling rather than showing. The dialogue, in particular, was often stiff and unnatural.

Because the first two books also leaned strongly YA, the explicit sex scenes paired with Lia’s extreme naivety felt awkward and poorly matched. I’m no prude, but I skimmed these parts because Lia’s immaturity (overall, not just sexually) made it feel icky to read.

I also struggled with the character development, which felt like the Hammer of Arion– hitting the characters abruptly and without warning. Characters suddenly mature without meaningful events or internal growth to justify it. Lia’s decision to trust Xander and fully open up comes out of nowhere after two books of intense resistance and stubbornness, even when everyone was telling her otherwise. I was glad she finally got there, but it dragged on far too long for the sudden resolution.

On the other hand, there are multiple conflicts that are introduced and resolved so quickly that they barely have time to matter. They hardly struggle through the trials. Lia immediately comes back to life after sacrificing herself. She discovers a new aspect whenever it’s convenient. At this point in the series, you kind of know that any conflict will be immediately resolved, so why bother getting emotionally invested?

And this is completely personal, but I HATE when a series is ended with the main character getting pregnant, especially with how young Lia is. Girl, you just saved multiple kingdoms, you do not need to start popping kids out immediately. Take a vacation or something.

Overall, the premise of this series is genuinely entertaining, but it would have landed much stronger with more nuanced prose and less hand-holding for the reader. Lia was annoying, but the side characters make up for her.

I am giving this 3 stars because I thought Lia's friend IO was selfish and annoying and that was basically the plot of this book. OMG IO told me not to love my husband so I better just scamper away... *rolling my eyes*

okay I am being a little dramatic so I rounded it to a 4 stars since I read this book in one day.

A Curse of Ashes by Sariah Wilson (Book Three) / Release Date December 16, 2025

I truly don’t have the words to adequately express how much I love this series. I am forever grateful that @sariahwilsonauthor message me one random day asking me if I would be interested in reading an E-ARC of the first book in her new series… because now I am now in love with this entire world. This series makes you feel all the feels. I laughed often, cried, kicked my feet like a giddy psychopath, wanted to throw my book, slap various characters with a fish, and hug others. Every single part of this series was an incredible masterpiece, I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. If you’ve considered picking this series, now is the time as it will be a completed trilogy on December 16, 2025.

I loved most of the first book, granted I still had some issues with the writing, but the plot twist saved it. This book, however, was awful in that the writing did not do the storyline/concept justice. It felt so elementary. As in, “X happens, then Y, then Z. And everyone lived happily ever after. The end.” Like a novice wrote it. Everything was too buttoned up with not much leading up to it. Too matter of fact and nonchalant. There were many plot holes and underdeveloped scenarios and relationships that were just kind of thrown in there to make sure certain points were covered. The story has so much potential and I feel as if the author really dropped the ball. Like she rushed to get it written. Very disappointing unfortunately, so for that reason, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the series.

It was a nice conclusion to the series.
My overall criticism for this book is it felt overly juvenile.
Maybe it's supposed to target a younger audience.
The writing from Lia's perspective felt overly repetitive and childish, some parts were dragged and repeated many times, others had no actual buildup and were resolved instantly and in a very simplistic way. The romantic plot was just all over the place, the first part of the book dealt with how they can't be together and the second part is just an over the top love fest, it was very unbalanced.
It wasn't bad, just maybe too YA for me.

This story coming to an end feels so strange. From the moment I first read A Tribute of Fire, I fell completely in love with Lia and Xander, with the sisters and the brothers and everyone in between. I was entirely hooked by the storyline, the perfect enemies to lovers banter, the inspiring lessons, and the strength radiating from every character.

Reaching the end in A Curse of Ashes hurts, but our babies deserved peace after everything they endured, so the resolution is comforting too. In books one and two, there is so much push and pull in every direction, and now, in the last book, things finally begin to settle into place. Walls come down, bonds are accepted, people allow themselves to be vulnerable, and long held secrets are revealed. The characters and their stories truly come into their own, and I loved witnessing that growth.

I do have to admit that this third book felt different from the first two. At times, the writing felt rushed and just different in a way I don’t know not to describe. Where earlier books wove plot threads together so beautifully and delicately, some stuff here felt like they forced their way in rather than unfolding organically. I’m not sure what shifted, but something did feel different.

Still, this series captured my heart from the very beginning and will always hold a special place in it. These books inspire courage, equality, empathy, problem solving, and patience. Every character is wonderfully written, bold in their individuality, deeply human, flawed, and unapologetically themselves. One of my favorite takeaways from this series is the reminder that you don’t have to be perfect to do the right thing, and you don’t have to fit into a box to be worthy.

While I wish the final book had stayed closer in tone and pacing to the first two, I am grateful to have seen this journey through to the end.

Thank you, Sariah Wilson, for the ARC. I am completely honored. Writing this review was so hard because I needed time to process how much I loved it. A Curse of Ashes was everything I hoped for in the final installment of this trilogy. It wrapped the story up in a way that felt powerful, emotional, and completely satisfying.

One of my favorite things about Sariah Wilson’s writing is how she portrays women. Their strength never comes from bitterness or cruelty. Their power comes from compassion, softness, loyalty, love, and instinct, yet they still fight like warriors. These characters don’t have to harden to become strong and I loved that. It made the story feel meaningful on a deeper level.

The writing is gorgeous without ever feeling heavy. It’s descriptive, immersive, and smart, but never bloated with filler. The pacing is tight. The dialogue is fun and real. The romance is tender and beautifully written. And the emotional moments… I cried more than once.

This book has everything I love. Magic, war, heartbreak, revelations, political layers, and the best sisterhood. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, and I kept stopping to reread certain lines because they were so beautifully written.

On a personal note, this was the first physical book I’ve read since being pregnant almost three years ago. I honestly didn’t think my attention span could handle it, but this book pulled me straight back into why I fell in love with reading. I already know I’ll be listening to the audiobook when it releases because I’m not ready to let go.

I’m extremely grateful to have received this ARC. Experiencing the finale early felt like a real privilege. If you love found family, emotional slow burn energy, magic, mythology, powerful women, and romance that sneaks up on you in the best way, you need this book in your life.

Ten out of ten recommend.

I love this series so much!!! As a Greek mythology girlie I appreciated the nods to Greek mythos as well as combining it with the classic Romantasy style that I enjoy reading so much to quite literally create something entirely new and unique and wonderful!

I will miss these characters and this world so much that I’m hopeful this isn’t the end of this world, but I also don’t want anything bad to happen to them ever again.

I will be immediately continuing my campaign to have everyone I know ever read this series ASAP! Thank you so much to Sariah Wilson for allowing me to read this early!

Overall Series Review with Spoilers

Book 1 was definitely the strongest in this series with a really interesting and unique plot set up, plenty of intrigue and easter eggs, as well as found family. Honestly, this series would have made a great duology with most of the miscommunication points of book 2 cut out. What really stands out in this series is the strong female found family in Lia's adelphia and the also the strong female villains. I love the setting of ancient Greek inspired lands. Book 3's other stand out character was Lia's dragon Luna. Book 3 had a really great quest, much improved relationship between the FMC and MMC and still continued to have excellent found family vibes. Overall I would give this series 4.25 stars. I think a duology could have been a 5 star read.

Sadly this book seemed rushed and the pacing was off. The final battle and epilogue happened within the last 80 pages of a 500 page book…

So sad because this series was good at the beginning and had great potential. Still would recommend as an easy read

This review is for the audiobook. I’m so glad to find that this third book was so much better than book 2. I liked Lia a lot more in this book even though I still found her to be annoying sometimes. There was a lot going on in the story to keep me interested and wanting to know what would happen next. There were some loose ends at the end of the story which an epilogue could have resolved. I liked the dual readers/ narrators.
