It’s too deranged to be a dream But to one, it is beautiful. Creating fear and possessing souls. None of this is a figment of imagination. Everyone involved is very awake, even if they wish they weren’t. With beating hearts and trembling lips, tranquility no longer exists. Because tonight, nightmares become real. Welcome to Agatha Manor, in Hollows Grove.
This is a Dark Mysterious & Poetic Paranormal Thriller which ends in a HEA. And is a complete standalone. In a shared town only.
Kinsley Kincaid is a long time fan of psychotic dark book boyfriends. She does not limit it to just Dark Romance but Taboo as well, yes the scandal!
She enjoys pushing boundaries, so don’t be surprised when you see this also reflected in her work. Be sure to stalk her on her socials and reader group shared with Isla Gray; Tainted N Taboo.
not gonna lie, this was a curiosity download on stuff your kindle day and lowkey a cover buy. when i started it, i knew it would be dark “romance” but i wasnt expecting THIS. i guess we’re doing irredeemable abusive love interests now who mentally and physically torment the fmc!
brownie points go to how creepily horrific this was. and there was a taylor swift post-credits scene
firmly cemented that dark romance (and bully “romance”) is NOT for me! 🩷
This book is dark & twisted...and honestly? Kind of gorgeous in how broken it all is. Agatha Manor feels like a living, breathing monster, and I loved every creepy, fucked-up second of it.
Royce is everything...broken, fierce, unapologetic. And Prince? I swear I wanted to throat-punch him, and then maybe study him like a car crash I couldn’t look away from.
The writing is vivid and cinematic, and half the time I didn’t know whether to flinch or keep turning pages. Spoiler: I kept turning.
It’s dark, it’s feral, and it doesn’t care if you’re comfortable. And that’s what I loved about it. I felt every ounce of pain, lust, hate, and obsession in these pages. Beautiful. Horrible. Perfect.
ARC review. I had the privilege of arc reading this and boy oh boy was it good! Ma’am, wowzas this one grabbed me right from the first page. Taboo foster siblings, obsessive MMC, extreme bullying, paranormal, 90s vibe. Prince was so deliciously dark and psychotic. Prince is obsessed with his foster sister and will do anything to have her. There was so much packed into this story. No one does intense like Kinsley!! This one will definitely be going on my Halloween reads list. Check your trigger warnings but definitely give this one a go if you’re into the dark and disturbed 😳 😉
This was written as part of the Ripthorne Hollow shared world from rip book box and is now being rebranded and released on its own.
This whole shared world is based in this very 90s feeling Halloween/paranormal town and I LOVE Kinsleys paranormal books already but then I read that there are VAMPIRES so I of course devoured this in one sitting.
Kinsley never disappoints me with her fun and playful way of writing horrible things happening to people. This is one of my favorite parts of reading her books. The FUN I have reading them.
I’m usually a person that stands on the villains side. This book was filled with them, and probably the exception to this line. 😮💨
Twisted, dark, moody and gruesome. This was a roller coaster of me yelling “WHO” WHAT” WHY” and “NO WAITTTT”. I was flipping through the pages so fast to get through this, to understand what was actually happening and who was the real villain! Kept on the edge of my seat and devoured the ride this took me on.
Looking for something messed up, pnr, gothic atmosphere setting. Pick this up. But CHECK YOUR TW’s baby, this was one is not for the faint of heart 😬
Are you looking for a very dark, spooky, deranged and twisted book? One that has dark spice and chaotic paranormal elements? Then look no further, Beautiful Nightmare by Kingsley Kincaid is likely right up your alley.
In this book we follow a young man, Prince, who is evil as all can be. The magical power he holds creates chaos, gives him brutal strength and adds twisted and gory scenes. I’d describe him as controlling, deranged and unhinged, plain and simple.
Then we have Royce, who has a tragic past that has left her feeling alone, helpless and frail.
The two of them are placed into a foster home together as children and the torment begins, on many levels and in many ways. Prince believes Royce is HIS to do with as he chooses.
With this being a paranormal thriller/horror with very dark romance elements added it does have a lot of potential triggers so I do suggest those are looked up prior to reading.
The story was fast paced and has dual POV switching between chapters.
The plot reveals a lot of paranormal secrets to do with witchcraft and other creatures within the story. Having a lot of supernatural characters interact. It brings forth many hidden secrets their caretaker withheld/took from both Royce and Prince showcasing the darkness within.
I really enjoyed this book. I hope you do too!
Beautiful Nightmare is dark, unhinged and ready for readers for the spooky season. Releasing 17th Oct, 2025.
vampires, witches, fae & spells balanced in this retro 90s gothic paranormal nightmare
🖤 foster siblings 🩷 paranormal town 🖤 extreme bullying 🩷 love bites 🖤 love - hate sex triangle 🩷 fright night carnival
gosh it’s been a looong while since i read a book by kinsley. i have no clue what was real or not or what to believe. my mind was spiraling but guess what? i would be lying if i said i didn’t enjoy it
so you got royce who is sent to stay at agatha manor (a foster home for those who have no access to magic) after her mother is killed when practicing witchcraft. she battles her pain & demons but still stands brave her evil, manipulator foster brother prince enters and they’re housed together. his addiction is torturing her
there’s grave digging, canine fangs, bloodshed & witchy spells in this twisted story with a retro 90s setting what’s not to love?
obviously anything with vampires, witches mentioned ya’ll know i’m sold !! i still have ghost dick & sutton asylum on my radar. manifesting one of those two will be my next read by kinsley. her stories are without a doubt binge worthy
I dont know how to rate novellas, especially when I am not sure how I felt about it. I do not suggest that you read this if you dont like dark, I won't even say romance because this book is not romance, and just abuse. but I didnt hate it (wasn't a fan of the ending though)
I swear this book was such an emotional and mental ROLLER COASTER. So buckle up! I had to pause a few times cause WHAT?! This is a quick read but it took me longer than I anticipated because of what I was reading lol. Mindf*ck 🤯 🤯 😳
I’m still trying to process what I read 😅
This book will give you the spooky/gothic vibes which is perfect timing for this month! There are vampires, witches, demons and etc.
I hope you add this read during this spooky season and you feel what I felt 😆
I have never wanted to lay hands on a mofo more than I did Prince. I hated him. He did not appear to me at all which made for a gut wrenching good time.
The setting for this book was incredibly thought out and you could tell by the detail descriptions the author poured into the story.
Perfect vibe for all spooky season readers to dive into.
Dark Fun read. And the cover is a must have shelf fave.
HOLY FUCK!!?! What did I just read? What a complete mind fuck. And in the best way possible. I love when a book can have me react that way. Kins, you did it again. Hooked from page one and couldn’t stop!
Beautiful Nightmare was a WILD ride. Kinsley never fails to create such amazing stories and characters. Prince is so fucked up but idc, I lowkey had a love | hate relationship with him. ( yes I’m in therapy) But also, sweet vampire baby Beckham, I love him so so so much. Royce, the FMC is my kindred spirit. I felt such a pull to her character. I fucking loved how powerful she truly is.
4.5 stars (one day Goodreads will allow half stars, I swear 😅)
Beautiful Nightmare is exactly what I crave when I say I want something dark, twisted, and a little bit unholy. Kinsley took paranormal chaos and made it sexy (she is a expert at this point hehe). The kind of book that makes you tense your jaw one minute and blush the next.
Agatha Manor isn’t just a setting, it’s a pulse. The air feels heavy, the walls whisper, and every page hums with something wicked. Royce and Prince? That’s not romance, that’s obsession with teeth. It’s toxic, magnetic, and I couldn’t look away if I tried. The tension between them is so sharp it almost hurts.
Royce is fragile and furious, trying to survive in a world that keeps taking from her. And Prince…he’s not redeemable, not really. He’s the monster you should run from but some part of you wants to stay just to see what happens when he snaps.
The writing is almost cinematic, soaked in blood, desire, and nightmare logic. Kinsley has a way of making horror beautiful of turning cruelty into poetry.
If you want something dark, sensual, and a little bit feral for spooky season this one’s going to leave claw marks.
* I received this arc from the author all thoughts and opinions are my own*
ARC Review First of all, thank you to Kinsley Kincaid for providing me with an ARC of Beautiful Nightmare!
Plot blurb: As a child, Royce loses her parents in an accident and is sent to live at Agatha House, run by Agatha — a mean old hag. Eventually, Prince moves in too. He quickly decides that Royce belongs to him, and his obsession soon turns dangerous. Both have lost their powers, but one night, everything changes.
This was a fast-paced read, and I enjoyed parts of it, though I did find myself a bit lost at times. The story itself was interesting, but unfortunately i did not find myself really getting into it this time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ — rounded up
This book tore my heart out and put it back together, this beautifully written tragedy ends in a HEA thankfully. I don’t know if I could live with that heart break. Royce, you beautifully broken human. Living through her pain and distorted reality shattered me, I just wanted to grab her and hold her close to me warding the evil from her. Prince, I can’t even speak on this human, mouth will be shut. I didn’t know what to expect when starting this novella, but what I got was beautiful and sad, and ended exactly how I would have wanted it to. Thank you Kinsley for another wonderful read to add to my shelves
I say this with all due respect, but what the actual fuck?
Genuinely nothing triggered me in this story. No issues with the level of dark here, which is pretty intense for sure. But this book felt like a fever dream, and maybe it was supposed to, but I’m also not on board with the chaos. It’s like when you’re having a conversation with someone and you keep diverging into tangents. How about let’s explain the first thing before we go into the next?
The characters didn’t hit for me either. They didn’t feel real enough to connect with. Prince, the MMC, was confusing AF. I had no real understanding of him, so I also didn’t necessarily follow why he made the choices he did. Some were obvious because he’s just an irredeemable POS, but that’s not all that makes a good villain. Royce, the FMC, I liked a bit better, but again I was confused by her. Please explain to me how she hid a huge secret from Prince for two years when he literally stalks her and is completely unhinged and obsessed. Couldn’t happen. Really I was left thinking who are these characters, and why do I even care?
Maybe one of the worst offenses, though is the use of the word coochie. No. Use something else.
I was looking forward to reading this, so I’m disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend.
“I’ll let him feel like a man with big dick energy if it gets me out of here quicker.”
Holy smokes. I have read this novella twice and it’s 100% insane and so beautifully poetic. Every moment between Royce and Prince lives rent free in my mind. The gothic backdrops: amazing. I have so many things highlighted but my head is stuck at “what did I just read here” and “oh wow he really said that”. Beautiful nightmare is beauty at its finest.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5 (I won’t count Royce and Prince but Royce and her vampire were hot) Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Feminine rage: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It was short, spooky, unusual and troat gripping! I finished it in one sitting and just couldn’t put it down!
The FMC is a badass who goed through alot of torture but still stands strong and does all she can to survive the pain that is her foster brother.
I loved how not only the story was written but also the characters, i cannot wait to read more from this author this is definitely a big recommendation!
1: This is NOT dark romance. 2: This is dark, twisted, traumatic and gripping 3: If you love taboo, f^cked up stories that have you wincing at every turn, this is for you. 4: Thank you Kinsley for allowing me to ARC this story. You sure know how to write Macabre and messed up stories and I am all for it.
I didnt think id love this book as much i did. I loved every minute. Had me captivated from the start to finish. I'm so glad Royce got her hea. I feel like i need more of her story.
Prince is the MMC you will love to hate because darn he was terrible to poor sweet Royce! I loved our broken but so strong FMC! Kinsley always has a way with words and this story was no different! Every emotion was felt on this journey. The title is *chef's kiss*
I can't wait to read the other books in the Hollows Grove shared world now!
What a wild ride. A spooky novella that had you twisting and turning at every corner. This was a one sitting read that had me locked in trying to figure out who the heck did it and what was going. This was a gripping story, Kinsley writes some twisted books and this was nothing short of that. Check your trigger warnings before going into this one!
This was one mind f*k of a read, but it's definitely worth the read. You need to let this author take you on a wild ride that had even me questioning wth just happened. Definitely need to read for this spooky month.
hell 👏🏼 yes 👏🏼 this was such a mindf*ck of a read in the best way possible and i love every minute of it. i truthfully did not have a clue what eas going to happen and what a wild ride that was. i definitely understand the ‘hate fucking love triangle’ now lmao the writing was amazing as were the characters- i devoured this whole, 5 stars again for the queen. ✨ Foѕтer Sιвlιɴɢѕ Eхтreмe Bυlly Telepαтнy & Teleĸιɴeѕιѕ Wιтcнeѕ Vαмpιreѕ Evιl & Terror A нαтe ғυcĸιɴɢ love тrιαɴɢle? This book was so different from your typical Kinsley books, but I was here for it. I love paranormal so much. Buuuuut let me just tell you, I HATE Prince with everything in me. There was not a single thing that enjoyed about him. Like normally I'm here for the bad guys, but nope, not this guy. Ugh. He made my blood boil every single chapter. I just wanted to reach through the book and give him a taste of his own medicine.
