Mystery, stalking, and murder in Las Vegas. When it comes down to threats Casino owner Jay King calls in an old friend of his wife’s, Kasey Atwood, to provide extra security. Very enjoyable read.

Suspenseful, unexpected with many twists and turns

Very Simple read, the twist at the end wasn't very good or exciting, wish the main character was more interesting. Overall if you want a quick and interesting mystery with a side of romance I would say give it a chance! Loved the character Jay!

I don’t read suspense very often and there’s a reason for that… if done right, I’m up late, biting my nails, turning pages, unable to sleep until I get to the end. Night Game is that kind of book and Carol Davis Luce has a winner with both wonderful characters and a slimy bad guy whose quirks are a house of horrors all his own. This is a very satisfying read. Full of interesting, behind the scenes facts and stories of the Nevada gambling scene that only comes from hard research.
Enter Kasey Atwood, a self-employed “spotter” whose talent at spotting cheats and thieves saves thousands for the casino and store owners who hire her services on a job per job basis. Kasey lives outside Reno, Nevada in a renovated garage on the dwindling acreage that might or might not be her heritage. Her mom, ever the optimist, struggles to make ends meet after divorcing her drunk husband and dealing with the upkeep of the big old rambling house full of boarders.
An old friend whose advantageous marriage to a wealthy hotel/casino owner looks like the ticket she needs to help with those bills, but the plot thickens when an elderly woman is found dead in her hotel room. Kasey, asked to take a look at the room where the woman died, sees a clue, asks the right questions, and what looks like an accidental death is revealed to be a homicide. I like it that she’s clever and smart. Yeah, she’s got issues, but she soldiers on throughout the book, and never lets us, the readers down.
Another death in the hotel, then threats to the owner, his wife, and the fears and tempers escalate to a boiling point. And, into the mix, Kasey finds that not only is she still attracted to the handsome hotel owner who is also her friends, husband, he’s feeling much the same towards her.
As in any really good suspense novel, we see the tension raised in every scene: between Kasey and the murderer it escalates until it becomes personal, and then there Kasey and the hotel owner and whether or not their attraction will ever become reality.
The author does the suspense just right, but she’s also given the reader a mystery to solve: Who’s behind the out-of-control mad man? I think you’ll be surprised. I know I was.

Kasey, a spotter of crooks in Reno casinos, is hired by a former friend, Dianne, to help Dianne's husband Jay King who owns a casino in Sparks, NV.
Someone is threatening Jay and the casino. A man from Jay's past, known as the Monk, is doing all the harm, including killing 3 people from the casino. Eventually the Monk is found, and Dianne has been paying Monk to do the evil. She didn't want Jay to expand or bring others in as partners. She was afraid her fortune would be diminished. Kasey and Jay get together.

After reading other reviews, I thought I might have read a different book. I found "Night Game" to be very slow moving and predictable. I try to always finish a book; but I had trouble forcing myself to read to the end. It certainly wasn't the worst book I have ever read; but I couldn't recommend it to anyone.

A good plot, surprising ending, interesting throughout to read. Overall a good "Who Done It" to get lost in reading and a good story. I found typos and type errors throughout which takes away from my flow of reading, can't understand how proofing lacks in a published book from an experienced author. Good mystery though.

This was a good page-turner. Characters were likable, believable and the plot kept moving at a good pace. I know this was written several years ago, but it still reads fresh. I recommend it as a good 2 or 3-day escape. The nook version had some typos, etc., but nothing that was too distracting.

It was a good book for the story, but I did not enjoy the language and the sexual parts. I know I am picky about the language and enjoy not having to skip over it. The story kept me guessing as to how it would all come out.

A satisfying read that kept me turning the pages. Definitely worth reading -- and enjoying. The plot moves well, with plenty of suspense, and is credible enough to imagine it could happen.

Surprises in this one. Good read. Too much language however, but it fits with this lifestyle, and it could have been much worse. I like a book I can't easily predict, this was one.

Casey Atwood makes a living spotting cheats in casinos. Hired by the wife of a hotel casino owner, her job is to look into shady dealings at the casino. As she begins work, bodies start to show up. The deeper she delves into the problems of the establishment, the closer a mysterious enemy comes to killing her. To add to her troubles, she falls in love with the owner of the casino but cannot touch him because he is married. She has little time for romance though as the enemy becomes bolder and more aggressive. The climax is a thrill a minute.

This is Carol's fifth novel and it is definitely one of her best. I could hardly put it down. If you are looking for a great read and enough mystery and suspense to keep you guessing right to the end, then this is the book for you.
