Missing: Hot Italian Bodyguard Last Seen Wearing Tux...

Dakota Dane's bodyguard is the sort of guy every man fears and every woman dreams of: chiseled abs, face of a male model, and tougher than nails. Except with her, of course. And those glimpses of Paolo's soft side are just as sinfully addictive as the rest of him.

So when he proposes to take their relationship to the next level--marriage--Dakota can't deny the thought of becoming his makes her pulse race and her knees go all wobbly. Unfortunately, when the big moment finally arrives, Paolo is nowhere to be found.

Was it something she said?

Dakota's heart won't move on until she finds out, but is she ready to face her dangerous world alone? Or will Dakota have to let go of everything she loves simply to survive?

NOTE: While reading book #1 (Fate Book) enhances the story, FATE BOOK TWO is a stand-alone story.

Fate Book

Fate Book Two is by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. I have decided I am going to love every thing Ms. Pamfiloff writes. This book is one of those books that once you start the first chapter, you won’t be doing much of anything else until you finish it. I fell in love with Fate Book One and have been so looking forward to this book. I was NOT disappointed. Although you can read this as a stand alone, I believe you would enjoy it so much more if you read Fate Book One first and get to know the characters as I have.

Dakota and Paolo went through so much in the first book but in the end, they fell in love, Paolo proposed and they are ready to start their lives together. Paolo has promised that he is out of the business, the super spy business he was in with Dakota’s father. So this book starts out with their wedding day. Dakota is ready to meet the man of her dreams at the alter, except he isn’t there. He is gone.

“So where did that leave me? Confused as hell. That’s where. And the one person who probably knew the truth--my father--couldn’t be trusted to tell it.”

Italian mobsters

Dakota is grief stricken. She doesn’t know if Paolo is alive or dead. She tries to get over him but she just can’t let go. So off she goes to Italy where Paolo’s Italian Mafia family lives to try to find out what happened to him.

"No one was who they seemed, and I was beginning to question my sanity or, at the very least, my sense of judgment.”

mobsters

Dakota finds herself in one dangerous situation after another, the only thing that keeps her going is the love she still hangs on to for Paolo.

“He’d changed how I breathed, how I looked at the world, and how my heart beat. Then he’d left me, and I couldn’t let go.”

Through it all, Dakota realizes that she is through hiding, that she doesn’t want to live in fear anymore. That she can be strong, that she can survive without Paolo.

“I was finally free from my ghosts, ready to start the life I’d put on hold and always dreamed of.”

This book, as was book one, is a crazy intense ride as Dakota travels from Costa Rica, to the U.S., to Italy, and back to the U.S. You are constantly questioning who to believe, who can she trust, and what in the world is going on???

Passport Sitting On Stack Of Cash Stock Footage Video 4472411 ...

I wanted Dakota and Paolo to be happy but I really did start to wonder if she would just be better off without him. Along with the crazy intense parts of this book, though, I have to admit that my heart broke, more than once, for Dakota.

This book was just amazing. My heart rate definitely got a work out, better than any exercise program. So if you want a crazy, intense, sometimes humorous, sexy ride of a life time, these two books are for you. Thanks once again to Mimi Jean Pamfiloff and her master story telling abilities. You once again wowed me with your awesomeness.

The pages in this story flew by, Fate Book Two is unputdownable because Mimi knows how to write fun and thrilling stories tempered with meaningful life lessons.

Dakota thinks she’s a few short minutes from having everything she thought she wanted in the form of a hot Italian as her husband. But when Paolo is nowhere to be found, Dakota is unwilling to move on until she knows the truth. Was it her, foul play or something altogether unimaginable? In the dangerous waters her father and fiancé used to sail all is not what it seems. You can’t trust anyone but yourself. Can she navigate through them to find the facts she’s needs and the man she wants?

As with all her books, Mimi gives us a story full of twists that’s different from the rest. In the previous book we got to know Dakota and Paolo (as much as you can get to know a spy) and how the fell in love.
“He’d gotten so deep under my skin that he’d altered my DNA. He’d changed how I breathed, how I looked at the world, and how my heart beat.”

In this book though, that quote from Shakespeare about the course of true love not running smoothly is made true. Because not only do Dakota’s plans fall apart, but she’s also faced with having to question who she can trust, and most importantly what she really wants for herself and out of life. Fate Book Two is about having the courage to face one’s demons and find oneself. I loved all the girl power in it!
“Your demons and ghosts would be right where you left them. That is, until you decided to face them.”

Throughout this book I felt Dakota’s desperation to know what had happened. I felt her fear about never having a normal life. I loved her strong personality and how she thought things through and the conclusions she arrived at. It’s not often I read about a female lead who I feel can successfully carry the weight of a story.
“I’d finally gotten my wish: I’d learned how to take care of myself.”

Of course this book is full of amusing, make-me-smile moments with Dakota’s quirky inner thoughts.
Bottom line, I deserved an explanation, and I wouldn’t be able to move on until I got one. Bottom line…I wanted to kick him in the man parts and make him cry…

Four or five days, which was all I needed to find Paolo and give him a little taste of the new Dakota.

Dakota Danger.

I grabbed my carry-on bag and tripped over someone’s suitcase, landing in the aisle in front of a plane full of people. Shit.

And some hilariously sexy banter
“I’m not some floozy, Dakota. You can’t just show me those hard little nipples peeking through your little pink shirt and expect me to drop my pants.”

“You are a total man-floozy. Don’t deny it. And don’t work me up if you’re not going to deliver the naughty sausage.”

“Naughty sausage…you do have a way with words.”

“Stop talking and start kissing me, you little tart,”

And let’s not forget the stolen, steamy moments between Paolo and Dakota.
I moved back, but he quickly reached for my waist and pulled me into him, stealing my breath in that same moment. “What are you doing?” I whispered.

His mouth formed into a slow sensual grind. “Just because I can’t keep you doesn’t mean I don’t want you.”

I was hooked by this story and all its surprises. I loved the fluidity with which it was written that made the pages and chapters go by so quickly. It was the perfect combination of funny, sexy and thrillingly exciting.

Fate book 2
3 Fate Book Stars
Starts off at the wedding of 19 year old Dakota and 23 year old Paolo..who doesn’t show at the altar. This book is Dakota trying to hunt down Paolo and all the interactions in between.
I think the language is very childish in this I mean she called it a naughty sausage..
I didn’t understand how all of sudden she was like a spy pro and how she got around to all these places
Dakota still comes off extremely childish in her actions and she just gets upset all over the place
I don’t think I can get into the “action” this book tries to portray
The HEA at the end of this book is better than the first but you don’t see it coming so that’s nice

I'm so mad at myself. 🤦🏾‍♀️ I've had this book on my shelf for MONTHS! I don't know why it took me this long to read it. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I really enjoyed the suspense in this book more than in part one. The twist and turns had my emotions all over the place but it was definitely worth it. I personally related to chapter 18. I had tears reading the last 2 pages of the chapter and felt empowered. Living life, free from hiding and lies is the most exhilarating feeling anyone can every experience. True happiness can only come from you. I'm so happy that Dakota figured that out.

Great read, Mini! You never cease to amaze me 🤗

Happy reading, friends ❤️📖

Good sequel

I enjoyed this sequel, which I'd the last book in the series. I never knew what was going to happen next! This author has many other books out, some or which I've read many of which I've not. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Although I really don't like the covers for this duo of books, I certainly enjoy the stories. Dakota and Paulo completely hooked me in the first book, and there was no chance of me missing out on book two. The story starts out with the couple still happily hiding in plain sight in their little tropical paradise. Dakota's parents have arrived for the wedding, and she is ready to head down the aisle. Unfortunately for Dakota, Paulo has disappeared. Dakota is left fearing their cover is blown and going into hiding with her mother. As days pass with no sign of Paolo, Dakota's father tries to convince he Paulo has left by his own choice and found someone else. Fearing the worst but hoping for the best, Dakota puts get own plan in motion to find her fiance and settle things once and for all. Her quest takes her across the world and away from all support. Once she arrives, things couldn't be more confusing. Conflicting reports of Paolo's whereabouts and a man named Felix keep Dakota off balance. Thankfully, Dakota is not that easy to get rid of. She is determined, and nothing will keep her from getting herself and Paolo out alive.

I enjoyed the characters and the story. The plot was just convoluted enough to make it interesting but not confusing. So many surprises were sprinkled throughout the book. I was just as confused about where and who Paolo was as Dakota was. Thankfully, "all's well that ends well" as they say. This truly did end well. I absolutely loved it! Thanks, Net Galley for proving a copy of this book for review.

Dakota Dane feels like she has the world at her fingertips and couldn't be happier.. Well minus the mafia, secrets, spies, lies, and kidnapping psychos, but hey.... who's to judge?
She is ready to walk down the isle and marry the man of her dreams, Paolo..
That is until said man.. Leaves her alone at the altar.
Is he ok? Was he kidnapped? Just cold feet?
With a new determination to locate her fiancé, Dakota is prepared to bring him home.... That is unless their entire relationship has been nothing more than a lie.

Wow! What a fun ride. I did read this book as a stand alone.
Going into this book, my initial reaction was there is no way I will be able to read this as a stand alone. There seemed to be a lot going on that I didn't understand.
That was until I got through the first few chapters with flash backs.. Then I had a better understanding of what was happening. (So stick with it)
From then on I began to connect with Dakota. I laughed. I mean the girl is funny. She is determined.. All great qualities.
Overall I thought this was a pretty awesome read.

Wow, this was a disappointment for me. I thought maybe it would be better than the first, but I wish I hadn't read this book now. This was almost way to over the top unbelievable. The flow is better on this book, but the characters are not likable. Dakota comes off as a lunatic chasing after Paolo. Then Dakota forgives Paolo way to easily in the end. I thought that she'd makes him work for her forgiveness after what he did. Then her father, holy crap, that guy is such a jerk, I would never have forgiven him for what he did to his own daughter! I can't believe her mother would forgive him either. It still feels like lust not love between hem too. I just can't put into words why this just left me so mad at all the characters & even an HEA didn't make it any better for me. Wish I could get a refund for the time it took to read this.

The perfect ending I didn't know I needed.

It's been years since I read the first Fate Book. As with everything Mimi writes, I loved it, and was intrigued to see what more there was to add to it. The first book wrapped up so nicely. Well, it turns out all the characters had a lot of repressed demons to slay. And boy did they ever. Through all the twists and turns, all the emotions, and action, I couldn't put the book down. It was so incredibly satisfying to see things tie together in a way I never knew I needed them to. Thank you Mimi, for taking Dakota and Paolo one step further in this second book.

**My thanks to NetGalley and the author, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is the second book in the series and cannot be read before book one or read as a stand alone book.

The book starts almost where the first one leaves us, however it is still full of the authors wit and her continual twists and turns. You never know exactly is what is going to happen next.

I really enjoyed the close bond she has with her mother, the way she is assertive and knows her heart and is not afraid of putting herself in harms way for the man she loves.

Really happy either way the ending and that more than one person gets a happy ending.

Dakota and Paolo are finally going to get their happily ever after, or are they? Set to be married on an island resort everything looks and feels perfect until she walks down the aisle to discover that the groom is nowhere to be found.

Dakota found out the hard way that her father wasn’t what he had always claimed to be but is she now going to find out that her fiancé isn’t what he claimed to be either? He had told her that he was retiring from the spy business and that he wasn’t going to work her father ever again which means that he was taken. This could only mean one thing, that his family has found him and taken him against his will but everything that she has been told and has seen doesn’t look as though he was being held against his will. Could their love affair have all been a lie? She has to find some answers and this leaves her only one choice, to follow him. This poses a problem all by itself because his family is even more scarier than anything that she’s ever been up against.

Book two was filled with so many twists and turns that it really kept you guessing as to what was going to happen. It was action packed and like book one, filled with characters that you thought were good that turn out to be bad and some that you thought were bad that turn out to be good. In a word, it’s AMAZING but you have to read book one first because this is not a stand-alone. Okay, okay, I guess you could read it by itself but I wouldn’t recommend it because you would miss how Dakota and Paolo meet and trust me, it’s well worth the read!

I have been a die-hard fan of Mimi Jean since her first book and while she may have started off writing with a paranormal themed series, she has proven that there is nothing that she cannot write! Five amazing stars!!!

Book Review- The Fate Book Two by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

The day finally arrived where Dakota was going to marry Paolo. Just as she was ready to walk down the aisle, she realized Paolo had disappeared. She believed that he was taken. She and her mother fled to safety while her dad went to find him. He came back revealing that Paolo was in Italy working for his mob family where he had been sharing information this whole time. He had been seen with a blond publicity queen.
Dakota is shocked and devastated. She decides she has had enough of her father and goes out on her own. She changes her mind last minute and flies to Rome. She needs answers and Paolo is the one to give them. She won’t be able to move on from here if she doesn’t. Her heart is broken.
Once she gets to Rome she comes face to face with Paolo’s family members, including his brother Felix. Dakota is confused and scared for Paolo. When the truth comes out she is shocked. Her life as she knows it comes to a screeching halt. She knows it is time to take it back.
This is the second book in the series. I liked Dakota’s character more in this book. She was a more take charge and strong female character. She was determined to find out the truth. When things ended the way they did, she refused to continue living her life the way she had been. She definitely evolved from the first book. The author also created a story that evolved with the same confusion for the reader. I was trying to figure out along with Dakota what was really going on. You would think one thing then something else would happen to cause doubts. I didn’t know what would happen next. In fact some of the situations that arose were surprising. I didn’t see them coming. I give this book a 4 out of 5.

Dakota and Palo, were supposed to get married. She 19 and he 23, he Palo being her bodyguard, but when she entered the church he was not there and her father who she really did not trust said he would find him. Not knowing at first what to do her and her mother go back to Chicago and after a littler while they are in the Caribbean on an island. Dakota still not trusting her father because of the business he does for the government and that Paolo worked for him. She decides to look for him herself and through a series of changes of identity she ends up in Italy and then somehow manages to get herself into every place she needs to find him. She finds out that not only did her father lie to her once again but so did Paolo. When she comes back to the U.S. She realizes that once again Paolo is not going to show up and she decides to move on with her life when she gets arrested one night and declines all the help that she normally would have with her father and Paolo. When she is released he is their outside of the police station and not wanting to go with him she leads him to a coffee shop. There she explains to him that she is moving on and though she loves him she is going to live not just go around life to breath because she is not going to end up like him when she dies alone with no one by her side, she is whiling to walk away because he has and she does not want to see him ever again. It does not end there but I will not spoil the ending. I found parts of this book hard to believe, but it is just a story. It is about second chances and what you are going to do with them and for that reason it is a good book. The action scenes do make this for a fast read and that also helps this book. Overall a good book. I got this book from net galley.

Fate Is Just An Amazing Thing

After reading book one I knew I had to start on two. The novel started off where book one ended leaving no confusion. This was off the rocks amazing. The author added even more suspense, action, and adventure into book two. My heart ached for Dakota many times over. I hated Paolo through most of the book. Loved Horse...Too bad he wasn't in the picture first. I'm sure Dakota would have been great with him but at last you can't help who you love regardless of how many times that person hurts you. Well her parents had their reasons for everything that happened but dang is her mother a saint... I don't know if I could have been the same way. I would have made Paola sweat for quite some time before I made a decision. Overall no matter how the characters made me feel throughout the book I still loved it...absolutely loved it.

I was excited to get back to the world of Paolo and Dakota. After secrets come out and HEAs are given we find there is more to their story,

When Paolo is a no show at the alter on their wedding day Dakota knows something is amiss. The book follows her hunting him down and getting her answers, These two have so much up against them and they are just trying to find their happily ever after but with so much drama and secrets is that possible?

I will say that Mimi Jean Pamfiloff can write a good twist I never really know where these books will end up and often think, is this for real? I do like that it kept me guessing. I think that overall the book was good and fun but I did enjoy the first book a bit more.

I have really enjoyed this series. This book picks up a few months after the first book ends. Paolo goes missing and everything that Dakota knew about their relationship get questioned.

You could see the change in Dakota in this book compared to the first. She was sick of being left in the dark and decided to do what she felt was needed for herself. I was happy to see that. We also got to see a bit of Paolo's family. I would have loved to see some of this story from his POV. Even though everything gets explained at the end I still felt there were some holes that could have been filled with Paolo's side.

Def recommend both books.

Loved the first book and was really looking forward in reading the sequel. When i found out. Which was recently.

Maybe it was because I really liked the first book and was expecting a lot for this one but I was a little bit disappointed with the characters. Dakota was getting on my nerves. She went through hell but couldn't quite get the lesson and learn from the experience. While Paolo just became a douche. I wasn't enjoying the story as much as i had the first one. I was shaking my head with Dakota's decisions and Paolo's actions.

Although meeting Paolo's cousin was quite nice! Would be cool to read more of him.

Great!
This was a great book! This is the second book in the Fate Series by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. Once I started reading this book I didn’t want to put it down until I finished. It is best if you read the first book before reading this one. This book has so many twists and turns it will leave you guessing until the end. This book has it all, romance, mystery, and action. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

One of my favorite movie quotes is "You're about to make tears come outta my face." Well you know what Mimi? You succeeded...a lot. this book was even better than the first one and I couldn't put it down even while I was in the livingroom with my husband and 4 year old watching The Empire Strikes Back ,which is one of my favorite movies, so that is one hell of a compliment and endorsement from me.

I loved this just as much as the first book in this series. Dakota Dane is one heck of a female lead. I wish I was her, especially if I could have Paolo even for a little while. Thanks Netgalley for a book to read and review.

Thanks so much. Book two was better in my book than book one. I wasn't guessing so much and the characters stayed in their role. I enjoyed Paolo in this book, and his plot and dealing with Dakota. Overall I really got tired of his running away from Dakota and his protecting her. I still loved Dakotas character and the way she dealt with love. Five stars!

I liked the way the book ended. Sent me on a crazy journey reading and made me question who was who? Was it Felix at the time or was it Paolo. I loved how the author ended the book. Very well done. Shame the series was short and came to an end but it's okay. Can't wait to read more by this author. KUDOS
