Perfect for fans of Lynn Painter and Jenny Han, this romantic comedy follows a hopeless romantic finishing college who agrees to embark on a fake relationship with her childhood best friend, who, unfortunately for her, also happens to be her first love.

Daniella Daisy Maria wanted love. It’s all she hoped for when watching endless rom-coms every Friday night. What she hadn't hoped for was to find it in her childhood best friend Levi. It was the hand-trembling, heart-thumping kind of love that wasn't supposed to happen when you saw your best friend. But it all ended when he didn’t feel the same way and she vowed to never see him again.

Four years later and one night in a crowded bar in the West Village, there he was, just as perfect as ever. Maybe it was the lighting or the way his hair curled above his brow, but she couldn’t say no when he asked her to be his fake girlfriend for his sister’s wedding. Another chance at being his friend and mending her immature mistake? How was she supposed to say no?

The weight of possible rejection from her dream grad school quickly became the least of her problems. With old, resurfacing feelings at every staged, romantic interaction and stolen glance, she struggles to find confidence. She couldn't help but think that maybe she should’ve said no to protect her heart for a second time.

"For the hopeless, and hopeful, romantics who don’t know they’re noticed in a crowded room."

okay so whoever told me this book was good completely lied to my face. I went into it with such high expectations because everyone kept raving about how sweet, adorable, and charming it was. But honestly, I was let down so badly. The storyline was so boring that, at one point, I found myself more interested in my academic textbooks than in this book. I was really hoping for something fun and heartwarming, but it just didn’t deliver.

This book revolves around a unique friends-to-lovers storyline, though it doesn’t follow the typical pattern. The main characters, Levi and Dani, became close childhood friends due to their shared experience of losing their fathers. When Dani lost her dad, Levi was there for her, offering support and comfort, as he had gone through a similar loss a few years earlier. As time passed, their friendship deepened, and they became almost inseparable. However, as they grew older, Dani started to develop romantic feelings for Levi, especially when she saw him dating other girls. The growing affection was painful for her, as she watched Levi with others while her feelings for him only intensified.

One day, unable to contain her emotions any longer, Dani confessed her love for Levi, but he didn’t return her feelings in the way she had hoped. Though his response wasn’t an outright rejection, it was enough to break Dani’s heart, leading her to sever their friendship and leave him behind, unable to cope with the pain of unrequited love.

Fast forward four years, Dani has blossomed into a confident and beautiful woman studying fashion, but despite her growth, she still can't get over Levi. By a stroke of coincidence, she runs into him, and Levi, needing to prove to his boss that he's in a committed relationship to stop his boss's daughter from pursuing him, asks Dani to be his fake date. Without much thought, Dani agrees, still holding onto her feelings for him. Throughout their time together, she drops countless hints that she's head over heels for him, but Levi, completely blind to her feelings, doesn't seem to catch on. It's almost frustrating how obvious it is to everyone but him that Dani has never stopped loving him.

Both Levi and Dani dropped hints about their feelings, but somehow neither of them caught on. It was so frustrating because everyone around them could see they were in love with each other, except for them. What annoyed me the most was how they kept playing this game of subtle hints instead of just confessing their feelings like grown adults. If they had just sat down and talked, so much could have changed. But no, they kept it going until Dani couldn't take it anymore and decided to propose again, fully expecting him to reject her, just like before.

The funny part is, Levi never really rejected her in the first place—it was all a misunderstanding. Dani had been drunk during her first proposal, rambling in a way that made Levi think she wasn’t serious. He didn’t respond because he was trying to protect his heart, thinking she had confused him with her prom date. Fast forward to the present, Levi finally runs to her, ready to confess just how much he’s always adored her.

╰┈➤ Levi Coldwell

"It was as if the moon followed him everywhere he went simply because he was more beautiful than the sun."

First of all, I gave this book three stars primarily because of Levi Coldwell. He’s the standout character who kept me engaged throughout. Levi is genuinely one of the best male characters I’ve read about. He’s not only handsome but also incredibly patient, loving, and gentle. His sweetness and dedication make him a memorable and compelling character, and I have to admit, he was the main reason I stuck with the book until the end.

Levi literally wrote French poetry for Dani, expressing his love in such a unique and heartfelt way. Despite his deep affection, Dani was so wrapped up in her insecurities that she couldn't see it. She was so afraid that the poetry might have been intended for someone else that she didn’t even open the book. While I understand her fear of rejection, it was frustrating to see her not even try to understand Levi’s feelings.

What really impressed me about Levi was his patience and gentleness. He was kind not only to Dani but also to the women in his family. On top of that, he was a respected professor admired and loved by many. Despite all his admirable qualities and the genuine care he showed, Dani’s inability to recognize his love was a significant hurdle in their relationship.

╰┈➤ Daniella Daisy Maria

"How…how could she not think she was beautiful? How could that be possible when she was the most gorgeous woman I’d ever seen"

Dani really tested my patience throughout this book. Her character was so caught up in her insecurities and past traumas that she failed to see Levi’s genuine affection for her. Her initial confession of love was a mess—she blurted it out in a confusing way while calling out her prom date's name, which left Levi understandably perplexed. To make matters worse, she refused to speak to him afterward, even though Levi made multiple attempts to reach out and explain himself. I understand she was embarrassed, but her refusal to acknowledge or address what happened was frustrating.

Her jealousy and impulsive behavior didn’t help her case either. The fact that she hit a letterbox outside of one of Levi's exes' homes was an overreaction that could have been avoided. While it's clear that losing her father deeply affected her, it didn’t excuse her lack of maturity and self-awareness. She constantly compared herself to Levi’s exes and his boss’s daughter, Bella, despite witnessing how distant Levi was from Bella. Rather than focusing on the undeniable ways Levi showed his love and care for her— like writing an entire book of French poetry or going out of his way to ensure her safety — Dani was preoccupied with her fears and insecurities.

“Of course I feel bad! If he actually
wanted me to read it, he would’ve given it to me sooner. Reading this would be an intrusion of privacy, the same way looking at one of my unfinished garments would be.”

he literally gifted this to you so you could read his confession god why does she whine so much 😭🫸🏻

Her inability to see the depth of Levi’s feelings and her continuous comparison to others were disheartening. She seemed to be trapped in her own doubts, interpreting his genuine affection as mere brotherly concern. With a bit more maturity and self-confidence, Dani could have been a much more relatable and endearing character.

➳ As I mentioned earlier, I'm not a huge fan of the friends-to-lovers trope, and this book didn't do much to change that. The constant miscommunication was particularly frustrating for me. However, Levi was the saving grace and the reason I kept reading. His perspective in the final chapter was one of the highlights of the book. I genuinely adored him for his caring nature, not only towards Dani but also his family. After losing his father, he took on the responsibility of caring for his siblings and mother, going above and beyond for them, which I found deeply moving.

°˖➴ Overall, this book is perfect if you're into friends-to-lovers and adore a charming and amazing mmc.. If you can handle a bit of miscommunication and enjoy a strong, caring hero, then this one’s for you! 💌

―✦ QUOTES :-

"Something that no one talks about when a loved one passes, is that when the years go by, it feels as if they never truly existed, like it was another life. My memories had been slipping away like chapters in a good book with each passed day. No one tells you that the reality of them actually being gone doesn’t kick in until you try to call them and realize…you can’t, that you can never call them again. That they aren’t just gone for a moment, but they’re gone for the rest of your moments."

"Do you hear that? That’s the sound of my heart knocking against my chest at the sight of you"

"Levi was the man that women wrote their romance novels about"

“My heart has been broken a million times by the same hand, yet I would let it happen a million times again if it meant it was by you"

"there was no such thing as a crowded room where you stood"

“I wanted to tell you that you looked beautiful because you are. I knew I wouldn’t miss you when you walked in tonight because you’re you. You’re so physically enthralling, let alone when you speak. And when you speak, all of the light in the room comes from you. You’re absolute sunshine and spring."

"I realized, I was madly, deeply, undeniably in love with him. I loved him so much that my heart was pounding against my chest, trying to reach his to tell him."

"I tried to stop loving you, but along the way, you found your way into the sound of my laugh, the style of my writing, and the threads of my clothes"

“Every poem in there is about you.
Everything I wrote came back to you"

“I’m so grateful for everything I have in life, I am. But when I see you, all I can think about is how much better life would be if you were mine. I’m so infatuated with everything you do, from the color of your lips to the way you slide your hips back and forth when you dance to the way you twist your earrings when you’re upset or how you blush when I touch you and how you breathe when I say Daisy. That was before I knew how you felt. Before I knew I could fly out to see you, and send you letters, and call you every day and tell you that I love you. I love you more than my heart can physically handle.”

⤷ buddy read with my twin flame, mims ILYSM and i had the most fun with u <3

“You’ll know you’re in love when being around them never feels long enough. Everything you learn about them will be beautiful pockets of information, no matter how flawed. Your hands will be clammy, and you’ll trip over your words when you’re around them. But if they love you back, they’ll only think that it makes you lovelier.”

for the hopeless, and hopeful, romantics who don’t know they’re noticed in a crowded room.
as someone who spends her time watching romcoms and reading romance books, this book was everything i hoped it to be and more!! i love daisyvi with all my heart 💗💘

“Don’t worry if the flowers pass, I’ll be right there to plant you more and when the soil grows old, I’ll comfort it in the chaos of the storm.”

daniella daisy maria 🌼༉‧₊˚.
daisy being a hopeless romantic, audrey hepburn & romcom fan, people-pleaser, AND fashion student, how could i not love her? i felt like i really understood a lot of her struggles, especially how she fails to see the good parts of herself and how she longs for true love. she's just like me fr! she was just so lovable and relatable 💗✨

“She lives in between the pinks and yellows of the world where a beautiful color is unknown to others and when she speaks, I become a bee enthralled in a field of daisies.”

“I want an all-consuming love. Not one that suffocates, but one that makes me so thankful that my chest feels physically overwhelmed with emotion. To have this silent, unspoken communication with a person through touch and gazes. I want to be noticed in a crowded room. I want to be the only person in a crowded room. I want to be wanted, truly wanted, and desired. I want to laugh and to sing and to dance with someone and not feel self-conscious over it because I love them and I’m confident that they love me. I want to be touched and kissed and held because I’ve forgotten what it feels like…and yet, I think I deserve it.”

levi codwell 🌼༉‧₊˚.
i can't even begin to describe how perfect levi is. he speaks french, teaches a jane austen class, buys flowers, cares about his younger sisters, remembers small things about daisy, wears glasses, AND wrote a book in french with love poems all. about. daisy. i need the author to now pay for my therapy because how dare you remind me that men like this don't exist irl 😖

“The whole book,” he breathed. “Every poem in there is about you. Everything I wrote came back to you.”

“My favorite flowers were always daisies.”

“I’m saying that if I knew four years ago that you loved me, I would’ve never let you go.”

daisy & levi 🌼💗
the way this book had childhood best friends to lovers, second chance, and fake dating trope all in one? i've always loved this idea of having your lover be your best friend, someone you can trust and someone who will try to understand you no matter what. and i think it's even better when you get a second chance because it's like the universe telling you that your story isn't over yet, that you can still fall in love & i think that this book perfectly captured this.

“I think they’re watching,” I whispered.
“Let them watch,” he whispered back.

“The lover and the archer, they’d call it. The girl who kept falling in love, and the boy who could receive love from whomever he aimed his heart at.”

“You intoxicate me, Daisy. The scent of flowers lingers on you
everywhere you go, and I always want to follow.”

“Because when you find out the person you’ve been in love with for your entire life loves you back, you’ll spend the rest of your life making up for lost time.”

overall, i adore this book with all my heart <3 there were at times where i thought the miscommunication was annoying, but it was also sort of understandable and fast-paced enough so i didn't really mind. i also really felt like i was in a romcom while reading this, which is the best feeling AND IT TAKES PLACE IN NYC!!! ugh something about a romance in the city is so magical 💗✨ honestly the whole book just reminds me of "daylight" by taylor swift, especially the bridge part 😌 this book seriously deserves all the love in the world so go read it rn <3

more quotes (bc this book is just too beautiful and i could quote every sentence)

“Everywhere we go, people are infatuated by you, looking at you and yearning to talk to you. I,” he paused for a long moment. “I am infatuated by you.”

“I’m so grateful for everything I have in life, I am. But when I see you, all I can think about is how much better life would be if you were mine. I’m so infatuated with everything you do, from the color of your lips to the way you slide your hips back and forth when you dance to the way you twist your earrings when you’re upset or how you blush when I touch you and how you breathe when I say Daisy.”

“I wanted to tell you that you looked beautiful because you are. I knew I wouldn’t miss you when you walked in tonight because you’re you. You’re so physically enthralling, let alone when you speak. And when you speak, all of the light in the room comes from you. You’re absolute sunshine and spring.”

“The Hepburn films don’t work anymore?” he asked casually, but it felt anything but casual. How did he remember that I used to rewatch Audrey Hepburn films when I needed inspiration? This was the same person who forgot his locker combination every day, and it never changed, but he somehow remembered this.”

“Two flowers intertwined because they had grown alongside each other for so long.”

“Every few months, I opened the dating apps back up. It was how my dating cycle started. Only choosing to date every few months gave me (1) time to build up my love for romance before I met someone cute for a date, and then (2) be disappointed by how the date went, and finally (3) grow worried that I’ll never find love. I then entered into my romantic-comedy and love-storyland hibernation, where I tried to remind myself that if love existed in films and books, then those stories must’ve been inspired by real love stories too. Right?”

“I tried to stop loving you, but along the way, you found your way into the sound of my laugh, the style of my writing, and the threads of my clothes.”

“How often do you think of him?” He didn’t look at me when he answered. He stared ahead at the father like he was replaying a tragic dream. “Every single day. I see him in every room I walk into, like he’ll be there waiting for me on the other side of the door. Sometimes, I swear I hear his voice in the morning calling me downstairs. And there are instances when I run down and don’t realize it until I’m halfway down the stairs.” He shook his head and made a sound similar to a laugh but resonated it with defeat. “I don't even live in the same house that he raised me in either.”

“I’d rather live through romance movies and be single than have a bunch of average dates.”

“It was as if the moon followed him everywhere he went simply because he was more beautiful than the sun.”

“You’re more radiant than flowers and the sun and no one can take that away from you.”

girlies – if you’re searching for a book to read while listening to TTPD, this is it. 🤍🖋️

i absolutely adored this story. it made me feel genuinely good and reminded me why i love love.

if you add this book to your tbr because of the adorable cover (like me) – that’s completely valid. lucky for you, the story inside is just as cute. (also shoutout to the author for creating the cover?! apparently you can just do it all)

🌼 i’m happily married, but the rest of you all deserve a levi coldwell in your life. 🌼

“he always had this overwhelming respect for literature.”

how can you not swoon over this man with that sentence alone? 🤭 this book is a great reminder of why we love men written by women. levi is a dream.

i honestly should’ve annotated this book, there were so many unique and beautiful quotes sprinkled in here. and finally, FINALLY, a romance that isn’t too long in length. THANK YOU.

ALSO -- this is a clean romance. NO spice. i LOVED that. i think the absence of spice actually made me even more invested in all of the emotions and made me connect to the characters deeper.

there were some grammatical/spelling errors throughout the book that an editor should have caught, but i’m not letting that sway my rating too much. the author is self-published and that is badass and more than i could ever do, so i’m not going to be too tough here. 🤫

my only real gripe is that the fmc was a bit overly oblivious. overall, this book was light, cute, quick, and fun. exactly what i wanted.

read this book if you want to add a new book boyfriend to your ever-growing list 🫶🏻

⤿ this is one of the cutest romance books i've ever read and i will be thinking about it for the rest of my life 🌸

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "for the hopeless, and hopeful, romantics who don't know they're noticed in a crowded room." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ₊ »- thoughts ⟢
i have been so excited to read this book ever since i saw a tiktok of the first page containing a lyric from lover. from the moment i read the dedication, i knew i was going to love this. it was cute and fast paced and i loved nearly everything about it. i fell in love, giggled, blushed, laughed, and even cried. i realize my rating sounds stingy but there's a reason i took away .25 from the rating and that was the main character, dani. i loved her a lot, but she was so insecure and in denial, it was almost impossible to read her thoughts without getting annoyed at least once. besides that, everything else about this book was perfect. the writing was so pretty and easy to read and i loved the characters and the connections they had. and of course, i loved the fake dating trope. it's one of my favorites and this book did it so well!

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "the happiness that flooded my chest was enough for me to ignore the lingering crack in my heart. but it wasn't enough for me to ignore how he held onto the pieces that were missing." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ₊ »- plot ⟢
daniella daisy maria and levi coldwell are the best of friends. bonding and finding comfort in each other over their shared grief of losing their dads, they create a connection like no other, one that eventually leads to something more. however, it all ends when daniella confesses her love for levi and he doesn't feel the same. old feelings begin to resurface four years later when dani runs into levi and he asks her to be his fake girlfriend for his sister's wedding.

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "the lover and the archer, they'd call it. the girl who kept falling in love, and the boy who could receive love from whomever he aimed his heart at." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ₊ »- characters ⟢

꒰ ⁺˖ daniella daisy maria ۫ ‧ 🌼 ₊˚. ꒱
first of all, this is such a beautiful name. second, even though i have my complaints, she was extremely relatable (so maybe i was just projecting at first). dani is a hopeless romantic who assumed the worst and didn't see the best parts of herself. sounds familiar. i connected with her character so deeply and even more so when she spoke about how much she wanted love. her character development was amazing and at the end of the day, i love her more than not because she is just like me.

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "i then entered my romantic-comedy and love-storyland hibernation, where i tried to remind myself that if love stories existed in films and books, then those stories must've been inspired by real loves stories too. right?" ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "could i live like that forever? waiting for my heart to catch up to reality?" ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "i was always nervous that if i shared the unkind words people threw at me, then that's all they'd associate me with." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

꒰ ⁺˖ levi coldwell ۫ ‧ 📖 ₊˚. ꒱
LEVI COLDWELL, THE MAN THAT YOU ARE. dani move it's my turn. i don't think there's enough words in the english language to describe my love for levi because omg. all i can say is thank you liana cincotti for creating the perfect man. first of all, he's hot. he's tall, wears glasses, has great style and blushes easily??? I NEED HIM. that's just the beginning though. he's sweet, cares for his family so much 🥹, kind, protective, romantic, remembers the little things, speaks french AND WROTE A WHOLE FRENCH POETRY BOOK ABOUT DANI. of course he's too good to be true and i'm currently sobbing because he's not real. the way he spoke about dani and held her, i teared up SO many times. as if my standards weren't high already, he just had to raise them even more.

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "it was as if the moon followed him everywhere he went simply because he was more beautiful than the sun." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "i knew how much he loved the way words strung together into a sentence could sound like a song without the music." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "they're my entire life. if they need me, i want them to know that i'll always be there for them. i don't want them to ever feel like they have less of a family because they don't have a dad." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

꒰ ⁺˖ daisy + vi ۫ ‧ 💐 ₊˚. ꒱
their romance actually means everything to me and it makes me want to cry. this was all my favorite tropes in one and it was done so wonderfully. the longing, stolen glances, lingering touches, the love, desire, and trust they have for each other, - i loved it all. they had a beautifully developed relationship and i will be thinking about them forever.

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "you intoxicate me, daisy. the scent of flowers lingers on you everywhere you go, and i always want to follow." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "i'd get on my knees and worship her if i could have this every day. her hips my altar and her lips my religion." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "i love you. i love the sound of your voice when you're worried. and i love the way your hair always looks so stupidly perfect, even when it's messy. and i love the way you make me feel; like my heart is about to take off down a runway before catching air. i love it all." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "in truth, levi was the king of my heart." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ₊ »- more favorite quotes ⟢
and now my favorite part, the poems. not only is this one of the most romantic, beautiful things i have ever read, but it's even better because they're all actually in french (i'm giggling and kicking my feet while simultaneously screaming and sobbing)!

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "the whole book, every poem in there is about you. everything i wrote came back to you." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "do you hear that? that's my heart knocking against my chest at the sight of you / i've never heard anything more terrifying / how could you provide me air and suffocate me at the same time?" ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "don't worry if the flowers pass, i'll be right there to plant you more / and when the soil grows old, i'll comfort it in the chaos of the storm" ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "burden me with your secrets / so i can carry the weight you're so fearful of letting go" ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "i tried to stop loving you, but along the way, you found your way into the sound of my laugh, the style of my writing, and the threads of my clothes / i would've gone down on my knees just to hear you say yes" ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "she lives in between the pinks and yellows of the world / where a beautiful color is unknown to others / and when she speaks, i become a bee enthralled in a field of daisies" ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

this last quote is literally everything to me because my favorite colors are pink and yellow. 🥹🩷💛

⊹ ₊ »- final thoughts ⟢
i'm going to need a couple of days to process this book and bask in my endless love for levi. he is absolutely in my top 5 book bfs and the standard for all men. anyways, please go read this book. it's so perfect for the spring and summer time and a great read if you need something cute and easy!

⊹ ࣪ ˖ "ready to go home?"
"with you, always." ⁺˖ ⸝⸝

happy reading!

╰┈➤ for an independently published novel this is amazing! i think this author writes so poetically. some of these lines are beautiful I literally don’t know how she came up with them 😭✋🏼 it’s the most romantic thing I’ve ever heard in my life. the quotes I’m going to share with y’all will have you swooning 😫 if you don’t swoon.. is your heart made of ice??? i guess it does make sense bc our mmc writes a whole entire poetry collection 🤭 (also she designed the cover herself! what a talented queen 🤭)

~ 𝒅𝒂𝒊𝒔𝒚 ~ ❀

╰┈➤ ah daisy. we have a love hate relationship. i love her for her character development. she’s a hopeless romantic who is insecure. i think we can relate to her in that way bc we’re all a little insecure at the end of the day. Levi really helped her overcome that. GUYS SHE ALSO LOVES AUDREY HEPBURN SO SHE GETS POINTS FOR THAT ✋🏼 on the other hand she’s so pick me 😭 yes she can be insufferable sometimes but i also look at her positive side. these are supposed to feel like real characters and real people have flaws so nobody can be absolutely perfect. (except for Levi) my point is that a lot of us don’t really end up liking fmc’s and that’s okay, try to give her a chance though 😭

~ 𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒊 ~ ❀

╰┈➤ MY MANNN i literally love him so incredibly much 🥹 like absolute husband material. he’s a walking green flag istg 😫 everything this man does is perfect. he drives around with books in the back of his car ✋🏼 he reads Jane Austen and teaches a Jane Austen class 🙌🏽 a professor 😫✋🏼 lord have mercy he’s so fine. HE WRITES A WHOLE FREAKING POETRY COLLECTION 😭✋🏼 bakes her a strawberry shortcake bc he knows it’s her favorite✋🏼 mans is insecure about his looks, uhhh hello ur insane. he’ll always ask “do I look okay?” SIR. YOU LOOK HOT OKAY. HOT. HE ALSO SPEAKS FLUENT FRENCH ✋🏼anyways he’s a perfect angel and I love him sm 🤭

╰┈➤ the setting! i love books that take place in New York 🤭 it was so fun reading about it. Levi’s sisters, i love them 🥹 they are literally so adorable 😭 he has such a way with kids omg ✋🏼 i think you can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats his mom and sisters (if he has any) but he would get upset when he couldn’t help his mom out with his sisters 🥹 like he loves them so much and would do absolutely anything for them 😭

This book is about 2 best friends who found comfort in each other as they connected through the loss of a father. They were the type of bffs that went to each other's house for Sunday dinners, movie nights, sleepovers, the friendship where it's the two of them against the whole wide world. But as Daniella Daisy Maria watched those rom coms on Levi Codwell’s couch all she ever wished for was love. The type that sweeps you off your feet and takes your breath away every time you see your loved one, the type of love that shouldn't happen when you see your childhood best friend. But it did. And she told him. She hasn't seen him for 4 years since then.

"𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒌𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆."

𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚, is the type of girl hoping to find love that makes her heart rate race as if she's the main character of a romcom. She is the girl that wears overalls even though she is a fashion designer, adorable earrings, and treasures strawberry shortcake and flowers. Daisy is the type of person that's sweet and kind from the bottom of her heart. She’s the ray of light everyone needs in their life. This girl deserves all the love her heart can hold and seeing her grow from a girl with self-doubt and insecurity to a confident woman, like a beautiful daisy in the garden, makes me feel so so proud. 🌼

"𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓: 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒘𝒂𝒔𝒏’𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍."

“𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅, 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒖𝒏𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔”

𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐢 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥, hold up. Let me go gather my words even though words aren't enough to describe this perfection. I need a Levi Codwell in my life right this instant. He is the most caring soul to his sisters and stepped into the father role with such braveness. He writes French love poems. Uh huh, ya, you heard it right!! He remembers Every. Single. Detail. about Daisy even after 4 FREAKING YEARS!!! Oh, and he just casually happens to be a TA who wears glasses, blushes, and teaches Jane Austen. He is the most compassionate, caring, sweetest, kindest, gorgeous soul to ever exist and I'm swooning 🫶🏼

“𝑴𝒚 𝒇𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒅𝒂𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒆𝒔”

𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬, one word. ATE! Daisy’s little trio friend group lets ignore the fact that I forgot all the side characters names are so precious omg! They were there right beside her throughout the whole process, comforting her, taking care of her and running to her 5 mins after a phone call <33 they're literally the BEST!! Daisy’s fashion group were so hilarious the way they swooned and fanned their selves every time Levi stepped in the room was so REAL ! like girl I get it, I get it <33 Daisy’s fashion mentor…how about you go kill yourself…respectfully speaking...this man did not have an ounce of confidence in Daisy’s work and was the most unsupportive bastard ever…and don't even get me started on the other stuff he tried to do. At Least he got Levi calling daisy baby while comforting her - I'm head over heels for this man I know. 🌹

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 & 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, Dani and Levi’s story was so heartwarming to read, I actually finished it in one sitting. I swear I was giggling like a little girl because it was so ADORABLE!! Their romance was the cutest thing I've ever seen. I literally cannot move on. I love how they have nicknames for each other (Daisy & Vi) like hello?!?! That's so CUTE OML HELP!! The little twists and turns in the plots made me feel so much, the way Liana Cincotti wrote about every little thing made my heart twist and scream. They’re going to live rent free in my mind, heart and soul forever. 💐

Sneak peek 🤍:

“𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆,” 𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒔.

This is the type of book you lightheartedly laugh, have a mild heartache even though you know you’ll get your perfect ending, giggle with excitement, blush at the adorableness, squeal one million times, jump up and down from cuteness and hold it close to your heart because it's just that precious. It's the type of book you want to read, curled up in a blanket, drinking hot chocolate or every time you just want to feel comfort 🫂💗

THIS IS ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITE ROMANCE BOOKS!! I absolutely loved every single second of this and my cheeks were hurting once I finished this book because I literally could not stop smiling!!! It made me so happy and my heart felt so full reading about their story and their romance!! It was perfect from start to finish and the writing was beautiful and these characters were beautiful. I am a hopeless romantic at heart and this book made me feel so seen!!

I am in absolute awe of this book as well a loss for words and I hope my love for this book comes through and is shown in this review; it means so much to me.

I know this quote is so long and a literal paragraph but this quote single handedly described exactly how I feel WORD. FOR. WORD. I LOVE DANI SO MUCH she is me and I am her. I love when I can relate to characters and see myself in them as if they are a mirror I am standing in front of, and I saw myself in Dani. She is such a hopeless romantic who loves watching romance movies and yearns for the same love that I do. She loves strawberry shortcake and flowers, cute little earrings and hair clips; she’s such a warm and bright and comforting and REAL character I love her so so much she deserves all the love in the world and I’m so happy she has Levi to give her that. I loved seeing her growth seeing as she was very insecure about herself and her work and the ending absolutely brought tears to my eyes I am so so proud of her.

I LOVE LEVI SO MUCH OH MY GOSHHH he is my new book boyfriend!! This man is literally the most sweetest, compassionate and caring man i have ever read about and Dani wasn’t lying when she said he was the type of man women wrote romance novels about because HE. IS. If I never find someone like him then I don’t want him because he is literally the type of man I will be looking for and not settling for less.

First off, he’s a shy, smart, attractive man who wears GLASSES (he’s literally my type) who teaches a class about JANE AUSTEN and SPEAKS FRENCH!! He has such a loving relationship and connection with his siblings; he’s such a caring brother and his sisters mean the world to him and are his whole life, he will always be there for them and will put them first before himself.

Now onto how he is with Dani… he looks at her with this intensity that lets her know he’s paying attention to EVERY. SINGLE. WORD. like she is an addictive drug and looks at her with this disbelief she is exists, like she is the only one in the room. He cares so much for her safety that he will find time in his busy schedule to make sure HE walks her somewhere she needs to go or drive her home. He also doesn’t care about what she wears and will love whatever it is she’s wearing no matter how baggy or fitted. He always gives her constant reassurance whenever she needs it; telling her she doesn’t need to be embarrassed around him or that she safe to tell him anything. If this man isn’t the most comforting boyfriend then idk who is because he is SO SWEET and LOVES HER SO MUCH!!!

My gosh they are one of my favorite books couples ever and I wish to have a relationship like theirs one day… The way they were both in love with each other FOR YEARS and that love never went away was so heart wrenching and heart warming at the same time. He literally wrote a BOOK with POEMS in FRENCH about her when they weren’t even together at that point HE IS SO IN LOVE WITH HER and reading her pov and seeing how she thought of him and the way she would describe him is how I hope to love someone someday. They are such a REAL couple with FLAWS and LOVE and i absolutely loved reading about their story and their love.

⟡ this book was so precious. i was hesitant going into it because of it's high ratings (for some reason, when a book is adored by a lot of people, it scares me) but in my opinion, it lived up to it's hype. this book was made for the hopeless romantics, the lover by taylor swift girls, the 2000's rom com lovers, and all the pinterest whores. it's almost like liana cincotti wrote this book FOR ME personally because it felt like a mixture of everything i love.

picking daisies on sundays follows dani "daisy" maria, a hopeless romantic who loves everything pink, flowers, and baking. when shes out on night, she ends up reuniting with her old childhood best friend (and first love), and it's been four years since they last spoke. they end up striking a deal to fake date for his sisters wedding (we all know the cliche trope) and they are forced to navigate the old feelings they had for each other as they start to arise again.

⟡ i think one reason why i loved this sm was because of how much i adore childhood best friends to lovers. its such a classic: them growing up together and us being able to watch those silly crushes morph into a permanent love. the lines between best friends and lovers blurring. it makes for such a special read.

this girl is the epitome of lover album by taylor swift. she was literally a ray of sunshine. everything about her resonates so deeply with me, from her love of baking, to how much she loves fashion, to how she always loves with her entire heart. her storyline about being insecure about herself/her body was so so important to me, because i feel the exact way as her and that was comforting. watching her slowly become more confident and love herself more was so motivating, knowing that one day i can be just like her. 🥹 she really deserves all the love in the world, and she's definitely a new comfort character for sure. ♡

( AND DID, HAHA)

and you guys... the way he yearned>>> this man literally wrote a poetry book about her in french and they weren't even on speaking terms. he wore a bracelet she made for him every single day. two rings always remained on his fingers, one that he had bought for her but was never able to give her. if longing was a person, they would be named levi coldwell. also his pov of chapter 23 at the end was the sweetest, his heart physically aching when she was describing herself as un-beautiful. while his inner monologue was thinking about how gorgeous she looked. he couldn't believe that she would think that about herself, and it pained him to see her think that way. i could sob.

many people have been talking about picking daisies on sundays, but essentially everything about this book was picking apart my sanity from sunday to wednesday.

i recently discovered a quote so articulately written by shakespeare that came to mind when reading this: “...a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” this book made me feel nothing but exhaustion. it was to the point where i lost brain cells and thus khiara saw firsthand me becoming illiterate. i really tried. the writing style and immense abundance of cringeworthy dialogue did not help.

sorry to my mutuals who liked this!!

i've been a little apprehensive to pick this up but i'm reading it with the lovely khi!! she'll get me through it

Daniella Daisy Maria is a hopeless romantic who wanted love and to be in love. She's the type to watch countless romcom's and apply the rules to her life.

She unexpectedly falls in love with her best friend Levi in high school. They were inseparable, but at the senior prom when she drinks too much to give her liquid courage in order to say how she feels - everything falls apart and she can no longer face him after she told him how she felt.

Four years later while out at a club/bar with her friends she runs into Levi again...

This man. This man. This man. Whew. 🥵😮‍💨 Ladies... this man is the ultimate cinnamon roll. He writes poetry- in French. 😳 He's tall and sexy with dark hair and glasses with unruly hair. A TA for a class that specifically studies the works of Jane Austen. Talk about the ultimate academia/dark academia dream man. ➜🫀Take it Levi. It's yours. 😭

I'm not even going to lie to ya'll - I'm not a fan of our FMC but she was tolerable. She's quirky, socially uncomfortable, low self esteem. Totally unaware of how probably awesome she is. She's a fashion major but walks around in ill fitting overalls. Like what? She's not great at expressing herself even when something, anything is staring her right in her face because she's too busy second guessing herself.

I've seen this book being compared to Lynn Painter books - or at least being recommended for fans of Lynn Painter - I can see it to a degree but with LP books, they are true romcom's for me. This didn't really feel like a romcom but more of best friend to lovers with a lot of miscommunication involved. The miscommunication wasn't to the point where I was going to pull my hair out - at least not until the end.

My favorite part was Levi obviously, he was so freaking dreamy and the exact book boyfriend I needed at the moment.

I wish the author would have fleshed out the characters more. I wanted to know more about each one of them but they are so closed lipped about how they feel - I also wish the author would have done a dual POV so that we could experience what Levi was feeling throughout. I feel that usually works best with the whole we love each other but no one is saying it trope.

I was a little confused why the whole fake dating had to occur?

The miscommunication is strong here peeps!

I really did enjoy it though and found it to be a super cute, with quick/short chapters light hearted romance. Levi- do it for Levi.

"Something that no one talks about when a loved one passes, is that when the years go by, it feels as if they never truly existed, like it was another life. My memories had been slipping away like chapters in a good book with each passed day. No one tells you that the reality of them actually being gone doesn't kick in until you try to call them and realize... you can't, that you can never call them again. That they aren't just gone for a moment, but they're gone for the rest of your moments." 😭🫂💔❤️‍🩹

⤷ spoiler-free review!! ⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪

this book had its cute moments but it didn’t quite hit the mark ☹️ the fake dating trope tends to be hit or miss for me and sadly this one leaned toward a miss.

i didn’t appreciate how levi dragged daniella into his mess at the start. it made him seem like he was using her and leading her on which rubbed me the wrong way. later on when the full story unfolded, i was like be so for real right now 🤦🏻‍♀️ i usually don’t mind the miscommunication trope if it’s done well but it didn’t work for me here. daniella kept jumping to conclusions and it got frustrating. another thing that threw me off was how the main characters acted like teenagers despite being in their twenties 🫤 to be fair the author did try to give them emotional depth, but i struggled to connect with them on a deeper level.

that said, i wouldn’t say this was a completely unenjoyable read. the writing was easy to get through and i never felt like i was dreading the next chapter or forcing myself to finish the book.

overall, this book left me feeling kinda meh. i personally don’t get the hype but i can see its appeal and i’d still recommend it if you’re looking for something light, quick, and cute ~

“I want an all-consuming love. Not the one that suffocates, but the one that makes me so thankful that my chest feels physically overwhelmed with emotion. To have this silent, unspoken communication with a person through touch and gazes. I want to be noticed in a crowded room. I want to be wanted, truly wanted, and desired. I want to laugh and to sing and to dance with someone and not feel self-conscious over it because I love them and I’m confident that they love me. I want to be touched and kissed and held because I’ve forgotten what it feels like… and yet, I think I deserve it.”

thank you giu for buddy reading this with me even though i read it at snails pace because of my reading slump 😭 sorry we both didn’t end up loving it but i hope our next buddy read is much better 💘

apparently i woke up and chose torture this morning because i read this in one sitting. it wasn’t particularly bad but it wasn’t the right pick for me. if you love friends to lovers, second chance, no third act and fake dating, you could possibly enjoy this.🫠

🎶 i wanna better body, i want better skin
i wanna be perfect like all your other friends

dani, daniella, daisy had the self esteem of the exact size of a grain of rice. it was hard to be in her brain all the time and reading about her comparing herself with other girls. i don’t hate her but i don’t love her either.

💔 The lover and the archer, they’d call it. The girl who kept falling in love, and the boy who could receive love from whomever he aimed his heart at.

🎶you look so pretty, pretty like the wind
every time you touch me, i feel adrenaline

levi, you were good. you wear glasses, speak french, write poems in french AND blush easily. you could be my dream man, you could be my husband…the father of my fictional babies…but you are not. guess why? ☹️

he would blush for other woman too✋🏻 he gave his attention to every woman he spoke, he let them touch his arm etc✋🏻 i’m not ashamed to admit that i’m an extremely jealous person😌 i have caveman tendencies when it comes to the person i love so i’m going back to my cave✋🏻

❤️‍🩹You’re spring, baby. You’re more radiant than flowers and the sun and no one can take that away from you.

also his poems? pffts. i’m not big on poems, i only read emily dickinson(mother) or turkish poets(if you haven’t read before do you even know what love is🤔) so his poems had zero effect on me. i scrolled them like scrolling depressed tumblr posts.

anyway so the lesson we should get from this book is that if you’re in high school and in love with your bff, tell them. there’s a big chance they love you back or you might lose 4 years out of your own stupidity 🤗

me reading this book and waiting something interesting to happen;;;;;

3.35 ⭐️ | Picking Daisies on Sundays — the cutesiest book ever 🥹🌷🩷🎀

This book?? SO GOOD. SO CUTESY. I giggled. I swooned. I melted like hot chocolate in July 🫠🫠
But umm… nothing that special, yk? 😓 Still, I’d totally recommend it 🥹🩷

Okay now let’s talk about Levi Coldwell — THE MAN YOU ARE 😩 Like?? You're telling me this man who hates strawberry shortcake literally BAKED ONE for Daisy because she loves it? Sir, are you trying to ruin real men for me?? 🫠🫠 And the poetry book... in FRENCH?! JUST for her??? I am deceased.

Did I mention they’re fake dating and Daisy (FMC) thinks Levi is in love with someone else?? 👀 GIRL BE SERIOUS. This man is clearly head over heels for you. Do I need to jump into the book and scream it in your face?! 😭 But Daisy’s also too sweet to yell at 😔 so I’ll just take her out for coffee and a heart-to-heart 🩷

Yes, yes, that was me publicly obsessing over a fictional man (again). Totally normal, right? 🙂‍↕️

Now... the big question: why only 3.35 stars after all that love?? 😭 Well—drumroll—the miscommunication trope. I don’t hate it, I don’t love it, but here… it kinda worked?? Still, there was something missing. Just a little something that stopped it from being a 4+ read 🤷‍♀️

But overall? LOVED the book. Recommend it. And girls… we ALL deserve a Levi Coldwell in our lives. 🤭🫶

Byeeee lovies 🌷 thanks for reading my rant 💕✨

but i realized that it's not just friends to lovers, ex-friends haven't spoken for four years. so i jumped because i knew i was going to read one of the best yearnings ever, and I DID!! 🤭

★★★☆☆ - 3.5 stars - new review!

“Two flowers intertwined because they had grown alongside each other for so long.”

the perfect romance for spring!

the plot was great! the two main characters went on every date you could imagine. from dance lessons to baking to movie nights, it was so fun. it was very teenage-love-esc despite the characters being in their 20s. it might’ve dragged on for a bit too long, but overall, easy to follow and an enjoyable time!

i think the writing has to be the lowest point of the story. it felt very underdeveloped and choppy. i think there is some potential, but there was a lot of fine tuning needed.

daisy was a bit irritating in my opinion. i think she could’ve been portrayed more maturely. what i mean by this is that she acted 15, when really, she was 22. instead of thinking about work or friends, her mind constantly strayed to levi. and wow!! she was obsessed with him. it got a bit annoying to not see any other plot points aside from the romance. there was a little mention of grief, but it wasn’t talked about enough!
i think she was relatable in a few ways. she struggles with insecurities, about what—i don’t know. but many other people have insecurities as well, so i guess daisy can have a few points for that.
i wish she wasn’t so helpless though! after what one of the characters did, I expected her to stand up for herself, but no! she waited for levi to come save her. i know you have it in you, daisy!

levi, oh my gosh! he was hot. a french teacher who wrote a whole book about daisy—in french. he baked her a cake, bought her flowers, attempted sewing, and so many other things. loved him so much.

daisy doesn't deserve levi, but they were sweet together. all of the quotes had me swooning!!

overall, if you want a cute, fluffy romance book, i’d recommend this.

this reads like how a 12yo would fantasize their life would be like at 22yo.

it also tried to be poetic and soft and romantic with the quotes and the similes but it just made me full body cringe instead. i honestly can’t believe i pushed through this whole book when there were things like: “He dated girls, but he never led them on. It was always a few dates, and then it fizzled away the way dreams from the night before were forgotten throughout the day.”

what the actual fuck

another one:

“I couldn’t help but notice how when he said my name it sounded sweet, but when he said hers, it sounded seductive. Probably the perfect way to describe how the two of us were different; she was all glamour, and I was all…vintage.”

what the actual fuck

and these were only in chapters 1 to 3… and please let’s not even talk about the events that caused the whole 4 years of ghosting,,, oh my lord

3 stars ★

For the hopeless, and hopeful, romantics who don’t know they’re noticed in a crowded room.

⋆. 𓂃 my thoughts

i started this book with super high expectations and some of them were a bit disappointed. it had all the tropes i really like, especially childhood friends to lovers. i heard so many people talk about it in an amazing way, like really amazing, but it only ended up disappointing me. the writing wasn’t very engaging i have to say, even if i finished it really fast because i was still super curious to see how it would go on. i also spent a lot of money on this book. i know a lot of people absolutely loved it and i feel bad being one of the few who gave it so few stars. of course there were some really cute scenes that i loved so much and made me jump with joy. and nerdy boys who are also golden boys are such a green flag. and all the taylor swift’s references?? omg

⋆. 𓂃 the romances

the romance? yes it was there, and i actually liked it a lot, i appreciated it. but this slow burn was way too slow burn. i would have liked to see just a bit more tension, but even like this the book was really cute. what i didn’t like was the fake dating trope, it wasn’t really fake dating. levi didn’t act like a fake boyfriend at all and neither did dani. i mean, if i had been one of levi’s sisters, i would have already figured out they weren’t a real couple. levi is obviously a new book boyfriend, where can i find nerds like him?! one thing i really really wanted was to see more of them as a couple, i wanted that so badly, and maybe the rating would have been a bit higher.

⋆. 𓂃 the characters

┆ ⤿ danielle: a character i didn’t always manage to understand, i didn’t fully get you but i know there were moments when i really liked you as a person. like for example when you talked about your father, or how writing letters can be therapeutic, how beautiful it is to cook, to be kind, to sew clothes. i also felt bad in those moments when levi was so honest and so real, but you thought he did it just because bella was around, always in the middle. but deep down you’re really a super sweet girl.

“I want an all-consuming love. Not one that suffocates, but one that makes me so thankful that my chest feels physically overwhelmed with emotion. To have this silent, unspoken communication with a person through touch and gazes.” I let out a tired breath. “I want to be noticed in a crowded room. I want to be the only person in a crowded room. I want to be wanted, truly wanted, and desired. I want to laugh and to sing and to dance with someone and not feel self-conscious over it because I love them and I’m confident that they love me. I want to be touched and kissed and held because I’ve forgotten what it feels like … and yet, I think I deserve it.”

┆ ⤿ levi: oh my god what a man, oh my god, where can i cry about you? daisy is so so lucky and so are your students ehehehe please become my literature professor. and then professor codwell? oh my god i’m fainting, i’m fainting. someone please find me a person who always cares about me, who wants to pay for my cab because he doesn’t want me to spend money, who doesn’t want me to take a cab alone at night because it might be dangerous so he takes me himself, who buys me flowers, who speaks french, who is in love with literature, who writes me poems in french. i’m crying, so much. i don’t understand bella, levi is a guy who cares about his family, he’s a good man who tries to be a father figure for his sisters, but most of all a good man for daisy and also for his mother. i adore everything about him

Ses lèvres étaient si douces.

⋆. 𓂃 quotes

levi+ dani

The Lover and the Archer, they’d call it. The girl who kept falling in love, and the boy who could receive love from whomever he aimed his heart at.

“Everywhere we go, people are infatuated by you, looking at you and yearning to talk to you. I …” He paused for a long moment. “I am infatuated by you.”

“You intoxicate me, Daisy. The scent of flowers lingers on you everywhere you go, and I always want to follow,”

“Dani.” “Yes?” “You do deserve it, to be loved. You deserve it more than anyone.”

“Daisy, baby, what’s wrong?”
“Baby, I need you to breathe, okay? We’re going to take a deep breath in, just like that, and exhale. Good, give me one more.”
“Now tell me what’s wrong, I’ll fix it.”
“You don’t deserve this, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry. You’re spring, baby. You’re more radiant than flowers and the sun and no one can take that away from you.”

“The whole book,” he breathed. “Every poem in there is about you. Everything I wrote came back to you.”
“This is about me?”
“Every. Single. Word.”

in the end, thank you so much cherie for sharing such an amazing time with me reading this book! i hope in the future we can do more br and rate them infinite stars <3 ilysm

this has easily become one of my favorite romcoms! i didn’t think it was possible but i have finally found a man worthy of being in wes bennet’s league. the way that this man SPOKE in poetry everything time he opened his mouth was just—👀.

the trope of best-friends to strangers to lovers has just become one of my favorite tropes because the YEARNING in this book was something else!! also why did i eat up that the mmc rejected her beforehand?! the angst was just—UGH! who was gonna tell me this book was gonna make me tear up because i felt so much for daisy and her self-confidence was so low :(, still though chapter 23?! the way this man was FLABBERGASTED when she said she wasn’t beautiful and practically worshipped her?! 🤰

i will be completely honest this book did have a lot of miscommunication, the fmc constantly ignored every single sign that the mmc might like her romantically because she was so hurt from the last time she poured her heart out to him. and on one hand, i get it but on the other hand i’m screaming at the book. that being said though…i personally think the miscommunication made her yearning even better and i love how the author put it in but some other people might not!

i don’t know if it was just because i was listening to this music at the time or what but this book reminds me SO much of a gracie abrams song (especially her good riddance and minor album)! and some people might not get this reference, but levi was so sombr coded 😽.

the only reason this book is a 4.5 rather than 5 (regardless of how i rounded it) is just because at some points it was a TAD slow! for example, the first few chapters were just a little on the slower side and a little bit during the middle. that being said, this book is so good and such a highly recommend book for me!!

(p.s. if you liked autumn and finny’s relationship in ‘if he had been with me’, this relationship has the same feel!)

“For the hopeless, and the hopeful, romantics who don’t know they’re noticed in a crowded room.”

: ̗̀➛ from the dedication i knew this would be a good book. and also, tell me this cover isn’t the cutest thing you’ve ever seen 🤭

: ̗̀➛ this book was so sweettttt. there were SO MANY cute quotes and about halfway thru i was wishing i had annotated it. honestly considering rereading it over the summer or sometime just to find all those beautiful lines!!

: ̗̀➛ throughout this book, i giggled (like FR 😭), laughed, and i got so, so close to crying IN SCHOOL!!! like, it was seriously that good. i really, really liked it ☺️! also, it’s completely clean. just kissing!! definitely added points imo

“Two flowers intertwined because they had grown alongside each other for so long.”

: ̗̀➛ the rest of the book was soo good and cute too! it was sooo close to 5 stars, just a few things were a bit off for me.. let’s get thru my complaints first so then i can go back to raving about this adorable romance ☺️.

: ̗̀➛ i really liked the fmc’s bestfriends’ personalities, jia and gabe, but it felt like they had no character depth and only existed to support the fmc, daisy/dani/daniella. they were always available when daisy needed them, which, i mean adds points, but it seemed like they had no lives ykk.

: ̗̀➛ other complaint: daisy was sometimes a little too insecure.. it slightly gave pick me 😭. im sorry, but how could she actually say that in the scene after the gala with levi??? are you being for real maam? also, some grammatical errors and typos.

: ̗̀➛ final complaint is the miscommunication trope. it gets me sooo angry sometimes 😣. like are ppl actually this oblivious irl? i don’t think so..

“‘My favorite flowers were always daisies.’”

˗ˏˋ꒰ 👛 ꒱ daisy/dani - her middle name is daisy, and that’s what levi calls her 🥰. ugh i love levi—but im getting sidetracked.. shes a fashion major in her last year of college, a hopeless romantic, and super sweet. she’s very insecure about her looks and her body image.. which is kinda relatable but at the same time, the way it’s portrayed is too over the top, and she comes off as a pick me sometimes. she’s also a bit—what am i talking about—very oblivious 😣.

˗ˏˋ꒰ 👛 ꒱ leviiiiiii - he CARRIED. like honestly levi was the best part of this book 🤭. he was so sweet, romantic, kind, and caring. he’s superrrr protective over daisy and his little sisters🥰💗. he’s super close with his family and it’s so sweet how much he helps out with them ☺️. he remembers the small things, the little details!!! and he speaks french!!!!!! and he wrote a book of french poems!!!! and he reads!!!!! *dies* when i say i love this man 😻

: ̗̀➛ i heavily recommend this book if you’re looking for a cute, fluffy romance and lighthearted read. also if you’re a fan of the childhood best friends to lovers trope 🤭.

“‘You love me?’ I whispered. ‘I love you more than my heart can physically handle.’”

: ̗̀➛ i got this book for my bday from one of my bsfsss!! i heard it’s major spring vibes so i rushed to read it asap ☺️ ik im a little late to it, but better late than never :)

꒰ ❝ For the hopeless, and hopeful, romantics who don’t know they’re noticed in a crowded room.❞ ꒱

╰┈➤ 💐 ⌗ I’ll start by saying that I had high expectations going into this book and thankfully it didn’t disappoint. This was such a cute and fun romcom. I loved reading about Levi and Dani’s friendship develop into a relationship even if it took years for them to wake up. Their banter was so cute and ofc the childhood friends to lovers delivered. A small part of why I loved this book so much is probably the pop culture references…I'm sorry but I'm a sucker for Taylor Swift and movies mentions, sue me.

The vibes were also immaculate, might be controversial but I love a book that FEELS cheesy and fictional. It is set in nyc during spring time and it just sounds like a dream tbh. Plus Dani’s mother being a fashion designer is amazing, we don’t see her much but I just think that’s such a unique thing. AND Dani’s also studying to be a fashion designer so I loved reading about that.

— ❊ — characters .ᐟ

꒰ ❝ she lives in between the pinks and yellows of the world, where a beautiful color is unknown to others, and when she speaks, I become a bee enthralled in a field of daisies.❞ ꒱

┆ ⤿ Daniella Daisy Maria:

↻ | :: ꒰ Foolish one by Taylor Swift ꒱

ᝰ I really liked her. She’s so relatable at times (“Talkin to people was so draining, but over the phone, it was even worse.” 100% agree). Even though the miscommunication had me pulling my hair out i get why she complicated things in her head and missed every opportunity to tell Levi how she felt. She was so caught up in her own insecurities that she often couldn’t see what was right in front of her. On top of that it is scary confessing your own feelings especially when she thought she had already been rejected. As I said before I loved reading about her passion for fashion and sewing that just sounded so cool. Kinda spoiler alert? Ngl towards the end I thought she was gonna pull a Belly Conklin about the Paris situation but thankfully she didn’t.

┆ ⤿ Levi Coldwell:

↻ | :: ꒰ Gorgeous by Taylor Swift ꒱ (yes Taylor again what about it)

leave Daisy and marry me instead. The way he yearned!! Omg he’s the standard. I now get how Rachel Green felt when she said “He’s so pretty i want to cry”. He earned himself a spot on top or the book-boyfriends list. This man screams act of service and we love that. Also when I found out what those poems at the beginning of each chapter were I screamed, melted and then cried because I can’t have a Levi for myself (I love being dramatic).

┆ ⤿ Bella: Bella where the hell have you been loca? (sorry not sorry, you should’ve seen it coming)

┆ ⤿ Ethan: as Summer Roberts once said: ew.

┆ ⤿ Dani’s friends (forgot the names sorry):

↻ | :: ꒰ Tough love by Gracie Abrams ꒱

ᝰ Ngl they were a big part of why I loved this book so much. Their friendship was everything. I love how they look out for each other when they go on dates. I love their banter and how they were always there for Dani. Lowkey wish they got more “screen time”. Her school friends are amazing too, Sandra had horrible timing (ifykyk) but other than that they were ALL so funny.

꒰ ❝ I once was poison ivy, but now I'm your daisy ❞ ꒱

╰┈➤ 🌷 ⌗ One thing I would have loved to see more of in this book is the relationship between Dani her mother and her aunt. I think that would have been cute to explore a bit more. *sighs* Now let’s talk about the fucking miscommunication trope that had me crying in frustration. I honestly don’t mind this trope usually but they were just straight up dumb sometimes. There were so many signs right in front of them…plus I'm convinced levi’s sisters were paid actors to act like little cupids, those girls were constantly spilling the tea (tea that nobody was listening to?? hello??). They were so blind and oblivious about each other’s feelings, but I loved reading about their blindness overall!!

p.s. I don’t think Levi’s glasses work that well (but as Asia said: hot…so who cares?).

— ❊ — writing style .ᐟ

┆⌗ Honestly it was kind of cliché and beautiful and very simple at the same time? I don't really care, it was perfect to read while being in a slump. The book itself was really fast paced the only thing I have an issue with is that I feel like many scenes were cut unnecessarily? idk how to explain it but as a cinema student it is easy to picture everything as a movie and analyze it as one. So if this was a movie I'd say I loved the “opening scene” but the cuts of some scenes would lowkey piss me off and important events weren’t even shown like Levi’s sister’s wedding. Aside from that though I loved how Dani narrated the story. I really liked how she compared everything to movies and books clichés, she really is just a girl after all.

╰┈➤ 💌 ⌗ ANYWAY I yapped far too much, it is so difficult to write a review wtf, that’s why I never do it. But I wanna thank the aesthetic girlies that inspired me for the layout (take a good look at this review because I doubt me writing another one will happen any time soon). And for the grand finale I wanted to thank my fav girls Mania (who finished the book the day after we started reading, someone tell her to slow down) and Asia because reading this book with them made the experience 10000 times better and we should do it again sometime. I genuinely had the best time xx 🫂

ps. I can assure you no girl named Asia was bullied for being a slow reader during this buddy read! <3

──────── ❊ ────────

rtc!! not only I'll write a review but I also rated the book, who even am I??

˗ˋ ୨ pre-read
I haven't read a romance book like this in a while so I'm excited!! And obviously I'm reading it with my two fav girlies mania and asia 🫂🤞

My heart has been broken a million times by the same hand, yet I would let it happen a million times again if it meant it was by you.

I was weaker than I thought my heart sagging like the stems of uncut, unkempt flowers because of the sunlight you held in your faraway heart
Maybe you weren’t mine to love I think I’m falling

The wallpaper above her bed frame was glued in my brain the way it was glued against her walls
I got so close to running my fingers against it
I wish I felt the confidence to tell you the truth, as strongly as I felt stubborn to hide it

Do you hear that? That’s my heart knocking against my chest at the sight of you
I’ve never heard anything more terrifying how could you provide me air and suffocate me at the same time?

Blue hydrangeas, pink tulips, red bleeding hearts
it’s all you ever loved, but never yourself
I never understood why anyone spoke poorly of the color brown, it was a dream on you

Don’t worry if the flowers pass, I’ll be right there to plant you more and when the soil grows old, I’ll comfort it in the chaos of the storm
Am I a ghost in your story?
because you look at me with conviction when I don’t even know the crime I committed

Burden me with your secrets so I can carry the weight you’re so fearful of letting go

To be close to you was to be haunted by what I couldn’t have and to be reminded of how much I truly wanted you and I’d be lying if I said I never thought about where my hands would take me across your body

Midnights and daydreaming hours of retracing steps to how we possibly got here how did I ever let time pass this long without seeing you?
my heart was so full of our memories that painted my body like a scrapbook

I tried to stop loving you, but along the way, you found your way into the sound of my laugh, the style of my writing, and the threads of my clothes
I would’ve gone down on my knees just to hear you say yes

Neck stiff, legs weak, eyes set on what we could’ve looked like if you hadn’t left
‘moving on’ was a broken record that I never had the strength to lift the needle off of
If hearts were meant to love then why did mine feel so empty?
and suddenly, I fell

Glances, gazes, eyes following places they shouldn’t have seen
intimacy was to be seen by you; free falling was to be touched by you
there was no such thing as a crowded room where you stood

She lives in between the pinks and yellows of the world
where a beautiful color is unknown to others
and when she speaks, I become a bee enthralled in a field of daisies

Can't stop crying❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

“You love me?”
“I love you more than my heart can physically handle.”

NO!! YOU HAD NO RIGHT IN MAKING ME THIS EMOTIONAL💕💕💕

WAS THIS MY FIRST FRIENDS TO LOVERS NOVEL? WELL, SINCE I DON'T REMEMBER, I AM COUNTING THIS AS ONE...
THIS WAS SO HEART-WARMING AND CUTE!

i'm not kind nor patient enough to love this book. i wish i was, but i'm definitely not.

( i read this book months ago, i'm just editing my review now)

↪ plot:

Childhood best friends Daniella and Levi reunite after four years for some fake dating to help Levi land a new job. But all the proximity this new situation brings them won't be easy for Daniella who's been in love with Levi all these years.

↪ thoughts:

*during the first half:*

Have I ever read a more oblivious and frustrating FMC? I don't think so (I'm sure I have, just let me be dramatic) because what the hell was this? She can't be serious, like, there's no way this is how her brain works. I understand being insecure (hell, I am too sometimes), but if I were Dani's friend a very harsh intervention would be needed because, girl, this gets so tiring.

*during the second half:*

Okay, turns out both of them are insanely oblivious, but they're also kinda cute. She's still pissing me off, a little bit less I admit, but it's still exhausting to be inside her head. I give this book some extra points because Dani and Levi's scenes together are adorable (especially the ones in the last chapters, super cute) and some of the things they say to each other made me swoon.

*after finishing:*

I would've enjoyed this more if we had some balance with Levi's POV after all the self-pity Dani put me through in almost all these chapters; and I'm not saying this to be a hater, I'm serious. I really liked that one chapter we got in Levi's POV, and it would've been nice (and even sweet) to go back and forth through their silly thoughts about them being "unrequitedly" in love with each other.

*overall:*

I hate being the girl who dislikes and criticizes the FMC but loves the MMC... but I am for this book because Levi was a dream and Dani such a hassle to read about.

⤷ 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰!

oh how i love friends to lovers. this was so heartwarming. the romance between levi and daisy was so sweet, and i really enjoyed reading about daisy’s life. daisy is a designer in fashion school, and her friends jia and gabe were so funny, they made this even more enjoyable. i was smiling from start to finish. i highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quick read, perfect for spring or summer! and def recommend to my lynn painter girlies <3

𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐢 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 ➳ SO boyfriend material. he’s hot, speaks french, writes poems, reads books, is family oriented, protective, funny, blushes easily, notices the little things about you. he is my new standard🫡

𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 ➳ most of the time i liked her, she was pretty funny, and i related to her anxiety. however, she did get annoying at times with how she handled her feelings. she could be immature and impulsive, which was irritating. therefore, -.5 off the rating.
