OMFG!!!!!

Wow!!

What an incredible ride. If you thought this series was INTENSE already, let me tell you, you ain't seen nothing yet. Third Debt is a thrilling tale of page-turning intensity that will just leave you breathless, wondering what on earth just hit you!

This is the fourth instalment in Pepper Winters' perverse and twisted take on Romeo and Juliet. Two star-crossed lovers from opposing families falling in love despite everything and we all know how Shakespeare's version ended. Will Jethro and Nila fare any better? That remains to be seen although I have to say, it's not looking too hopeful right now.

We pick up immediately after the shocking events that closed out Second Debt with Nila bruised and battered from the payment of that debt and Jethro left in a state of shock. As always with this series, I think the book starts off fairly slow but there's always this incredible sense of expectation as the next debt is looming large on the horizon. This really does lull the reader into a false sense of security - it's always the calm before the storm. And just wait for it!

When the Third Debt finally comes around, Nila doesn't even realise at first, that's what it is and I kind of cringed for her. She's skipping around all happy expecting something different and when the penny dropped, my heart broke for her. Her fear was a palpable thing and Pepper does such a good job of showing this to her readers - Nila was quite literally quaking in her boots, completely terrified. She should be as we all know that each debt is worse than the last and let's not forget that the Second Debt almost killed her.

At this point the book morphs into such a super-charged, incredibly powerful intensity and turned into such a page turner that I was completely unable to put it down and read far too late into the wee hours. To say I was engrossed, is a massive understatement. I can only describe this half of the book as reaching a kind of SCREAMING INTENSITY that I've rarely ever seen in novels before and, if possible, the narrative in my head from the words on the page seemed to take on some kind of fever pitch. The debt, the aftermath, what comes to pass and the devastating ramifications all rolled over me one after another and I ended the book feeling totally shell-shocked. I felt like I'd witnessed something cataclysmic and, actually, I probably had.

Where do we go from here? It's hard to say but it sure isn't looking good with a Fourth Debt and then the Ultimate Debt still left to pay. We get much more up close and personal with Jethro this time as he finally explains everything to Nila. His character has grown so much since the first book when he appeared to be a bad to the bone Hawk but, slowly, we've chipped away at that steely armour, to reveal the sensitive, loving man beneath and there's a lot to love in Jethro now. This scene fair broke my heart...

“Christ,” he breathed, his voice completely undone. “What have I become?”
He fell.
His knees gave out.
He slid down the wall like a melting glacier.
The moment he hit the floor, his knees came up caging his body, barricading him from the pain he couldn’t handle. His arms wrapped around them, curling into himself, pressing his forehead onto his legs. Hiding.

I stood there unable to move.

“…I fucking love you…”

I also found myself falling a lot in love with Kestrel who plays a pivotal role here and, if I thought I'd despised Cut before, well my hatred for that man magnified tenfold. He deserves to die. Horribly. I hope we get to see that.

Ultimately, I'm hoping for a happy ending here but it pays to remember just how dark Pepper Winters has taken us before. Even if there is to be a HEA, she's definitely going to make us suffer even more along the way and I now desperately need to read Fourth Debt to see how on earth the story continues. I read on her Facebook page that she considers Fourth Debt to be even better than this one - well, I can scarcely contain meself!!

Let's hope that this saga ends up on a happier note than that of Romeo and Juliet but, sadly, the ending of this instalment is far more akin to another of Shakespeare's plays but to name it would be to spoil the ending so I plead the Fifth here. I finished this book late at night - it invaded my dreams as I slept and overruled all my thoughts the next day. 24 hours later and the shock is still reverberating in my head - what an ending! What an incredible ride. As damn near perfection as you're likely to see.

The night is dark and full of terror. Pepper Winters - you're still my Queen of the Darkness and I think you always will be.

5 intense and devastating stars

★★★★★! Third Debt, book 4 of 7. The dark & sexual tale of Jethro’s quest to collect a centuries old debt from Nila continues with set-backs, deception & turmoil!

“Jethro took hostage of every thought and dream I’d ever had, making it his.”

Books in Indebted Serial should be read in order:
Book 1: Debt Inheritance
Book 2: First Debt
Book 3: Second Debt
Book 4: Third Debt
Book 5: Fourth Debt
Book 6: Final Debt
Book 7: Indebted Epilogue

In Indebted, book 1-3 fashion designer Nila Weaver, Threads was forcefully taken by the sophisticated and mysterious Jethro Hawk, Jet. Upon her arrival at Jet’s ancestor’s home, Hawksridge Hall she was informed that she was to repay a debt owed to his family by her family for centuries. The story went on to follow Nila in her captivity; the power struggle and sexual tension that ensued followed by an emotional connection while she was forced to make cruel payments on the debt.

Third Debt (book 4) picks up at book 3’s ending. Jet and Nila are trying to return to normal, but the bond they formed the connection they shared and the debt inheritance has them on a collision course as the third debt needs to be collected.

It’s a power struggle and lose-lose situation in a menacing game of sex, deceit, betrayal and lies with hidden agendas, ever-changing rules and powerful forces set on destruction…

 photo di1HxBSbysb_zpsbafc04f0.gif

I’m craving Jethro Hawk, Jet! A product of an abusive upbringing he learned early on to coop with his destiny, all traces of goodness obliterated. In addition we learn more about his childhood and health.

Eight words to describe Jethro: Ruthless, mercurial, complex, conflicted, determined, commanding, vengeful and tortured.

 photo di1hexBSbysb_zpse2164352.gif

Eight words to describe Nila Weaver, Threads: Naïve, focused, impressionable, frail, spirited, feisty, confused and calculated.

Third Debt, told from dual POVs with its modern day fairytale feel is a roller-coaster and page-turner. What cannot be denied is that Jet and Nila are destined to be together, but how? Story ends with devastating developments paving the way for a coveted book 5: Fourth Debt for the continuation of their saga.

It’s undeniably raw, dark, sexual, intense and suspenseful! With a complex, dark and swoon-worthy Jethro! Brilliant story-telling! Sinister and addictive plot!

“There was so much to say and no words in which to speak.”

** 4,5-5 “Choose me. Love me. Save me.” STARS **

“Don’t go into the dark alone, little Weaver. Monsters roam the shadows, and your time is officially up.”
~ KITE007

description

He was so right, Nila. You should have been more careful. The monsters have finally shown their ugliest faces and done the unthinkable. It was brutal. It was heartbreaking. It was soul-wrenching.

AND I AM F*CKING RUINED.

Goddamn debts and goddamn Hawks.

“Sleep, Ms. Weaver. Dream of me. And then I’ll steal you away.”
~ JETHRO

description

Jethro is broken. Nila is gone. She has obeyed him and left without even looking back. She is finally safe. For her to stay that way though, Jet has to do everything his father orders him to do. He has to let the coldness, the ice, the darkness consume him and leave him hollow, like before. That's the only way. But “true love is a curse” and the love that's emanating from Nila is making everything more difficult, complicated and VERY DANGEROUS...

“Love is a chemical imbalance, Ms. Weaver. I am no longer imbalanced.”
~ JETHRO

description

Nila is broken. She has left the love of her life, alone, with the wolves of his family. She is finally free...but not really, because her heart is still back there, with Jethro. All she wanted was to put an end to the Debts and be the last Weaver to go through this nightmare. But now she doesn't only want to save herself, no. Nila wants to save Jethro, from his "condition", from himself, from THEM...

“I’m looking, Jethro. And despite everything you do…I SEE YOU.”
~ NILA

description

My mind is still a mess after that cliffy ending (JEZUZ!) so I'll keep this short and clear:

Nila: I love you woman! I love your strength, I love your forgiveness, I love your passion, I love your determination!

Jet: I can still feel the cracks the “…I fucking love you…” coming out of his mouth left in my heart. The hot-and-cold attitude did piss me off, yes, but we finally got to see many different sides of this broken man, including his "condition". I would have NEVER been able to guess, and I am VERY into Psychiatry. Brilliant, Pepper Winters...just, brilliant!

Kestrel: Oh baby... Oh poor baby... I'm sorry for ever judging you, being suspicious and not trusting you.

Cut: I thought I hated your guts before. I was wrong, because if that was hate...then WTF is my feelings after what you've done, YOU MONSTER?!

Daniel: I'm an idiot to have believed you might actually be good in the heart and that all your freaky psycho behaviour might be just an act. You really are evil in the heart. You laughed while all those awful things happened... YOU LAUGHED MOTHERF*CKER!

Bonnie: Evil b*tch! I have a feeling TERRIBLE things are waiting for you in the very end...and you deserve everything you'll get!

Jas: I think this lady will play a huge role in the next book. We'll see...

I am still hopeful for a happy ending for everyone we love in the series... I repeat: EVERYONE! I want EVERYONE in one piece and over-cloud-nine at the end of this crazy journey.

Pepper Winters loves to make her characters suffer and fall into the darkest pits, yes, but she always knows how to get them out of there and into the light, too. I trust her!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go find a psychiatric clinic that'd accept me now and start counting days till August 11th 2015...

description

P.S: We met Arthur Killian., our new hero from Pepper's new series "Pure Corruption MC", briefly in this book and I have to say I am very impressed by him. Ruin & Rule will be out on July 7th 2015 and I recommend everyone to mark the date on their calenders! ;)

//////////////

I'm leaving Jet and Nila's Valentine's Day notes here to cheer us up a 'lil bit...

4.5 stars!

description

What the bejeezus was this book?! There’s no question I loved it and I read it in one sitting too, but holy flying cow...my mind is a mess right now. I thought the other books in this series were intense but nope, they don’t even compare when it comes to this 4th book. I would even go as far as to say that Third Debt is my favorite book in the series thus far and I see it as the turning point in Jethro and Nila’s dark, twisted journey.

Starting from here, the rest of my review will contain spoilers for the first 3 books so if you haven’t read them, best look away! If you have, continue on.

First, I gotta say despite the horrible state of mind the cliffhangers at the end of the first 3 books put me in, I am grateful for them. They are so heartstopping they are practically seared into my mind and because of that, I’m able to vividly remember all the details of what exactly happened, and can fall right back into this series like no time has passed at all. And that’s exactly what happened when I started this book.

description

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jethro and Nila are forced apart at the end of book 3, and this book mainly expands on the fallout that results because of their separation. To protect Nila, Jethro begrudgingly agrees to his father’s ultimatum but doesn’t count on it completely taking over his life. As the days pass, he withdraws into himself and is emotionally controlled by his father, which really drops a bomb on any kind of romantic development that occurred in the first 3 books. On the other hand, Nila, while forced to leave the Hawk estate, is determined to come back and save Jethro and nothing will stop her.

I love the story pace. Like the other books, this one starts off slow that made me settle in and lull me into a false sense of security and then bam! A jaw-dropping plot twist hits me and I never see it coming. This process pretty much repeats itself all the way to the end of the book which is THE biggest twist of all.

I think this book stands out to me more than the others because of the stellar character development. In the past, Jethro – while he still struggled with his growing feelings for Nila – overall was always steadfast in his approach to the Debt Inheritance process, along with his attitude towards his family. But in this book, the author really digs deep into his character and reveals all kind of thoughts and different sides to him that were never developed before, and to see that really humanized him. He’s come a long way from the seemingly unredeemable bastard from book 1 and really starts to fall into the ‘hero’ role, even though his circumstances and the pressure put on him constantly threaten to tip him over to the real dark side.

But the character that truly shined in this book? It was Nila. This was a girl who was a sheltered, meek woman who always relied on her father and brother, and throughout the numerous ordeals she experienced in the past few books, she’s really finding herself and evolving into a more confident, assured woman who’s not afraid to stand up for herself. I especially love that even when she’s cornered by the Hawks (figuratively and literally) she won’t go down without a fight and is so determined and driven to save Jethro, just like the way he saved her.

description

The only reason I’m not rating this book 5 stars is because for a good portion of the book, Jethro gave me severe whiplash. I truly felt for him when he was helpless and taken advantage of by his father and while in a way I understood he’s not to be held accountable for his actions, I still didn’t feel any better about them. His hot and cold behavior not only drove Nila mad; it made me crazy too. But by the end the author really gave me a reality check when everything about him was revealed and that made me understand why he acted the way he did <-- I can’t say anymore here or it’ll be a spoiler.

Now the ending. OH MY GOD. The author doesn’t hide the fact that the books in this series will almost always end on a cliffhanger, so my panties aren’t in a twist because of that. What did shock me though was the ‘I-didn’t-think-she’d-go-there-but-she-did’ moment at the end. Like, WTF! LOL! Besides being speechless with the way the story ended on such a bang, I’m also super curious to see how in the world the author will bounce back from this kind of ending in the next book.

Even though I’m still feeling distraught over the ending and inconsolable that the next book isn’t available, there is something so deeply satisfying about this book (and series!). No matter what, Jethro and Nila’s story has given my brain, my heart, even my psyche a workout, not to mention that the book length of each consecutive book in the series far surpasses even full length novels currently being marketed, so both quality and quantity-wise I’m happy. Roll on book 4! And hey Pepper? It needs to come much, MUCH sooner than later ;)

Third Debt is the 4th book in the Indebted series and must be read after the first 3 books. There will be a total of 6 books in the series and while each does end on a cliffy, answers will be given and certain plot lines will be concluded while new ones are presented at the same time. "Her heart belonged to me. And my heart belonged to her" Jethro

What an amazing, intense, emotional and suspenseful roller coaster ride. If you are following this series you know how awful second debt ended. So starting this book brought back all those emotions and so yeah I was an emotional wreck from the beginning.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The story continues with the two families fighting over their ancestors sins. The Hawks believed that the Weaver's first daughters belonged to them to pay ancestors past debts. The Hawks are the most wealthy family there is. They have Jewel mines, weapons and they have a hidden motorcycle club. They basically have power and money that the Weavers would never have.

It starts basically right where it left off. Jethro Hawk aka Kite had fallen in love with Nila Weaver (the last Weaver alive). They had gone thorough so much in the last 3 books. Nila's twin brother Vaughn had cause so much social media attention to help her get out of the hands of the Hawks. Jethro let her get away, he told her to get her freedom and in return he was ready to die for her. However, Cut his father (which I absolutely hate so much) decided to give him another chance to live. He gave him an ultimatum which Kite had really no option but to accept in order to protect Nila, his brother and sister from his heartless father and also their evil brother Daniel.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Cut offered Jethro some magic pills that helped him be numb and immune to feel. He basically became an asshole once again to protect his love ones. His brother Kestrel aka Kes and sister Jasmine aka Jaz where so upset at him. He basically ignored them and stayed away so that he could become like his father and take over the family's inheritance like he was supposed to as a first born child.

Jethro

Nila aka Threads was safe back home in London, however she was lonely and incomplete. She also had fallen in love with Jethro. The last 3 books they have both suffered, they were both broken but together they felt complete. She desperatly wanted to be back with him and save him from his crazy family. She was willing to sacrifice herself to save him and her both from this madness that was the ridiculous debts.

Nila

So much happened in this book that had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put this book down. My emotions where all over the place. At first I was devastated and crying so much to protect Jethro. But then I wanted to kill him I was so pissed at him. So when Nila had the chance to make him suffer not really intentionally but I couldn't helped enjoyed it. However, you get into Jethro's mind and understand his struggles you can't help to just love him all over again. I hurt so much for both him and Nila. He finally broke through his walls and let her in.

"We were both destroyed. And the only cure was to give in." Jethro

"You should know you’re it for me, Nila. There’s no turning back from this. I’m on your side until the end." Jethro

Kes was the perfect brother and friend. I freaking LOVED him on this book more so than the others. He truly stepped up to help Nila and Jethro. I truly hurt for him as well. They were powerless again their evil father and grandmother. Yes, that old bitch Bonnie, OMG I have so much anger right now....

Jethro and Nila were put through so much on this book. Again testing their true love. Nila had to pay the Third Debt in order for Jathro to take over. The events that happened during this debt were unbelievable. Like OMG what just happened?!. I was mad, I was excited, then happy, then mad. But nothing, absolutely nothing could of prepared me for that ending. I felt like I was watching a car wreck but there was nothing I could do to stop it. It was the most painful ending ever.

I hate Cut, Daniel and Bonnie, I want to use this on them lol
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I am still trying to wrap my mind about what I just read but I can't get my thoughts straight. I feel like it was all a dream that it never happened. Pepper, you truly gutted me but I still LOVED this because I felt so much and I didn't expect all this madness of events. Saying that I will stalk the author down to get the next two books ASAP because I just need answers. And because I have hopes that this ending is just a twisted game and that is not true. (a girl can just hope).

"A kiss was a disaster. A kiss was power. A kiss was love and togetherness and faith. It was so many, many things. But this… this was something so much more. More. I want more. I want everything" Jethro

**4.5 True Love Is A Curse stars**

It's been a few days since I finished Third Debt and I still don't know how to express myself about this book. It left me speechless by the end and I am numb ever since. I am broken, destroyed, ruined for life after that book. I think that Pepper Winters and her series Debt Inheritance are by far my most favorite and most anticipated for me. She's a true genius and I can't give her enough praise. If you love reading about dark stories this one is a MUST READ! You should totally do yourself a favor and add this amazing series in your reading list. But be prepared, because this is not a light read. This is an agonizing, gut twisting, dark read that will make you have goosebumps all over, leave you hanging with your mouth open, blinking and thinking that "This did not just happened!" But if you enjoy a book that makes you feel , you should go for it!

WARNING:

If you haven't read the previous books, this review may contain spoilers, so if you plan to read them, better stop reading this review right now! I won't add spoilers about this book though.

Third Debt starts after the shocking turn of events by the end of the Second Debt. Nila had managed to shed some light in Jethro's dark soul and everything was working perfectly well between them. But now things have changed and tables have once again been turned. Cut takes measures about that and with his method he manages to keep the darkness in Jethro's soul.

“Nila had my heart. But my father had my very existence.”

Nila is trying once again to manage the unmanageable with her Hawk. But now it's much harder than before and before we even realize it, Third Debt is upon them. Is this debt going to change everything for them? Is Nila going to survive this? And how about Jethro? Are they going to be winners or losers eventually?

"I would live a thousand debts just for the gift of having you love me."

All these questions and much more are going to be answered in this book. A book that was cruel. It made me question everything and everyone. I got mad and I cried a lot. I loved the new information, the character developments, that we got answers in some really needed questions. But that ending.. No, no, no. I refuse to believe the events that happened. I will wake up eventually and it will be a nightmare and nothing more. I refuse to believe that Pepper has no mercy on us.

If you can handle that evil cliffhanger at the end, I think you should join the ride with us with this series and buckle up for a long, quite suspenseful and really wonderful ride. Because Pepper is a mastermind and her twists and turns make this series worthwhile. They may be 6 books, but she keeps the interest and knows how to keep her readers attached to her series. Do yourselves a favor and please read this books!

4.5 STARS! ★★★★☆

"Nothing is ever black and white, Nila. You should know that by now. It's all how you survive the grey."

How is it that Ms Pepper still continues to stump me at every turn? I really thought I should have known better after one cliffy to another but HECK NO. She just pulled out a massive one here that left my brain crying at the idea of that ending!! Honestly, I'm still trying to pull my thoughts together after this read because let me tell you it was freaking. intense.

Third Debt will pick up from the shocking ending that came from Second Debt and I was as clueless as the next reader on which direction will the story go now. But I know with Pepper Winters that you can never expect the story to take the obvious turn and that's how she always nailed each instalment, leaving the readers to embrace the unknown and be knocked off their feet.

The read had a slow buildup in the beginning which served as a calm before the storm because once the Third Debt starts coming around, the intensity increased by almost a tenfold. At times I felt like I almost forgot to breathe as I read through the chapters because it sent me into a massive state of trepidation as I welcomed the unpredictable. The whole read is akin to a gigantic chess game with the players waiting to strike their move and one wrong action will set off a catastrophic chain of events. It really doesn't get more intense than that but it does. It really does.

And where do I even begin with Jethro & Nila? I felt like the author just threw these two into the depths of hell, stripping them completely of their defenses and left them trying to win a losing battle. There were times that it felt like there's no light at the end of the tunnel for these two and honestly, I was scared shitless. However once again, the author has the ability to ripped your heart out, stomped over it and mend it back. But to only later destroy your heart completely again in the end! My tortured soul is at the mercy of this author.

Some of the revelations in this one seriously got my head spinning especially when the truth has finally come to light on Jethro’s condition. That was something I wouldn’t have figured from miles away and I loved that Pepper always managed to put a unique twist to her stories. Not to mentioned, a certain other Hawk is also slowly growing on me now after that Third Debt scene but the ending right there totally slayed me!

Without spoiling the read further, I will just say that every book in this series is a literal game changer. The fact that this is the 4th book doesn't even faze me because each one just keeps getting better than the last. Not every author can pull off a series of novel-length reads and have the reader on its tight leash, needing the next one like air but Pepper Winters pulls it off effortlessly. Third Debt ends on a massive twist of cliffhanger that will quite literally make you howl in terror, so consider yourself warned.

Bonus sidenote: Someone makes a debut appearance in this read that has got my interest piqued! I'm absolutely dying to get my hands on his story when it'll be released very soon in the coming months ;)

Third Debt is the 3rd book in the Indebted series and must be read in order with the previous books.

I have to be honest here...I was scared shitless to start din fourth book in the series. And, no, not because the previous book ends with a huge cliffhanger. Actually every book in this series (so far) ended with a cliffhanger so, no. But because I knew something colossal will happen in this installment, something that will change everything. I just felt it! And I was so fucking right! Anyway..this installment is hands down the best (so far) in the series. At least for me. “Third Debt” is the reason why I loved dark reads. The intensity, the twists and turns, all the dark elements are fantastically done in this book and even if some of them almost gave me an anxiety attack I loved them. Needless to say, this book left me wanting more. Yeah, what can I say? I’m a masochist!

Like I mentioned above, this installment was intense. Was so intense that I was at the edge of my seat so many times and I know for sure, like me, you will not be able to put it down for one minute. It was gripping from the first word to the last. “Third Debt” is the fourth book in the series and picks up where the previous book, “Second Debt” ended.

“Nila had my heart, but my father had my very existence.”

description

The previous book in the series ends with Nila being free, not by the Hawks, but by someone else. Nila knows she supposed to be happy, because now she’s a free woman, but she's not. She can’t find her place in the world with his father and her twin brother. All she can think about is what she had left behind, the man she loves, Jethro Hawk. All she wants is to go back, to save him - from his nightmares, from his family and from himself. She feels ruined, destroyed and empty. All he wants and needs is Jethro Hawk, even if she is a Weaver.

description

When Nila returns she realizes that Jethro is changed, that he’s another man. He’s cold and lifeless and with each and every day he becomes his father, Cut.

“I’ll break you again, Jethro Hawk. I did it once. I can do it a second time.
And then I’ll save both of us.”

No matter how hard Jethro tries to stay away from Nila, he can’t and Nila knows it. She knows he belongs to her as much she belongs to him. As the story progresses Jethro tries hard to fight his feelings for “the little Weaver” and their attraction, but he eventually realizes he tries in vain.

“We were both destroyed. And the only cure was to give in.”

description

“Look at me.”
“I’m looking, Jethro. And despite everything you do…I see you.”

I have to admit this book messed up with my head and left me speechless. Like I mentioned before the story it was so captivating and held my attention for several hours like no other. I didn’t have time to get bored for one minute. First and foremost I have to say this installment like the others installments in the series ends with a cliffhanger, a huge cliffhanger, the worst cliffhanger ever. Needless to say I would do anything to have the next book in the series. Like NOW! I rarely get impatient when I read a series and one of the installments ends with a cliffhanger, but this time Mrs. Winters fuck-up with my head.

I really liked how the story progressed. I know it was a little slow at the beginning, but for me it really worked because I had enough time to remember what happened in the previous books in the series. That doesn’t mean I forgot what happened in the last book/s. No! I’m talking about all the small details that counts and make the story interesting and unique.

In this installment we find out more about Jethro’s “condition”. I would have never guessed about this mysterious condition. Never! Not in a million years! It was my first time reading about something like this, so I found it very interesting and original. I love when an author surprised me in a good way, especially when we’re talking about a series, because let’s face it, it’s hard for a continues series to bring an interesting aspect or an interesting twist to hold the reader’s attention.

Like the previous books in the series I really liked Nila and Jethro. With every installment we get to know better these two remarkable main characters. They are different from other characters I read about, (and I’m not talking only about characters in dark romances), they are three-dimensional, so they very well developed. If you thought you knew Jethro, think again because in this installment you will meet the ‘real’ Jethro Hawk. And I loved 'real' Jethro. I really felt for him and even if he was a little annoying, to say the least, he didn’t manage to piss me off. We all remember how naïve Nila was in the first book in the series. Right? Right..If in the previous book she wanted revenge no matter what in this book like I mentioned before, all she wants is to save Jethro and to fight for them to be together. Nila here is as strong as in book2. I loved her determination and the fact she’s ready to stand up for herself and for what she wants.

“[they] forced me to do this. But I would do it my way. I hadn’t broken any of Cut’s rules. I’d played along. I’d painted a picture for the world to eat up.
I’d just been smarter than they gave me credit for.”

description

Once again the chemistry and the connection between Nila and Jethro are palpable and very well done. The same thing I can say about sexual tension between them. Fantastically done!

All the side characters like the main ones are interesting in their own way, but the one who stand out for me was Kes. I always knew he was one of the good guys and he proved that in this installment. I’m dying to know how the story will progress so I'm dying to read the nest installment! Can't fucking wait!

“Nothing is ever black and white, Nila. You should know that by now. It’s all how you survive the grey.”

We were both destroyed. And the cure was to give in.

Oh. My. God.
Oh. My. Sanity.
Oh. Mylanta.
This. Fucking. Book. I'm speechless. I'm shocked. My mind is fucked the fuck up. What. Just. Happened?! Want me to describe my state of being the entire time reading this book?

Yeah. Exactly. I was an over-caffeinated, anxiety filled mess. There was not enough booze in the world to help me get through this. It's a miracle I'm not a damn alcoholic after finishing it. Good grief. Intense doesn't even begin to describe it.
I'd given my heart to my enemy.
I'd fallen
Fallen.
Fallen.
HARD.

Now if you haven't read the previous 3 books, I have to warn you that this review will contain minor spoilers so stop reading right now. It will be completely SPOILER FREE for this book, however.
Nila had my heart. But my father had my very existence.

Nila and Jethro have been through 3 debt inheritences. It's changed them, it's broken them, it's fused them together. Neither are the same people that they were first introduced to be. Book by book and chapter by chapter, Pepper Winters has been systematically building two characters that are filled with so much depth, you find something new with every book. Nila continues to grow into her own, a stronger woman, a woman that just may have the strength to survive the brutalities done to her and fight for herself and for Jethro to bring them out of their hell. Jethro is taking a different journey.

While first we were introduced to someone seemingly unfeeling, cold and dark, Nila has been chipping away at all of Jethro's defense and walls. Now he is no longer able to hide his true self from her. But worse yet, he can't hide it any longer from his father.
I was firstborn.
This was my legacy.
After weeks of preparation, i'd agreed once and for all to prove it.
By killing Nila Weaver.

Everything that Jethro has tried to hide through the years from everyone and especially from his father is being brought to the surface by Nila's mere presence alone. He craves her and yet he has no way out of his duty to the Hawke legacy. A legacy he wants nothing to do with, but nothing short of death and blood would get him out of. He let Nila go to protect her but unfortunately it's not so easy when the woman who was once his prey doesn't want to stay away.

Nila may have suffered at the hands of her captor, but it didn't stop her from falling for him. But ever since she left, Jethro isn't the man she fell in love with. He seems lost in a cold fog and reverting back to the man she first met. A man she wants nothing to do with, but she's determined to bring the man she knows is hiding inside him back to the surface. But can both of them survive the repercussions when all the secrets begin to finally unravel?

Now I'll be first to admit that I have the worst case of series ADD ever. As in I barely find myself finishing any series past 3 books. Hell, even trilogies sometimes lose me. It's just that after so many books, I begin to lose interest in the couple. How much can they possible go through before it gets boring, systematic, redundant or predictable? That is NOT the case here, which is remarkable considering each book is a novel length. Each piece is intricately woven into the next that leaves you begging for more every time. I never thought I'd say that of a cliffhanger, but that's the same case with them. They're not there for shock value. I actually like getting that break between each book (even though I slowly die inside waiting for the next to be released). These books are simply too intense to be read back to back. They're perfectly paced to trickle feed you the story piece by devastating piece; answering one question only to leave you with a hundred more. So if you were like me and dying to know the secret behind Jethro's condition, breathe ease because you'll get your answers. But then you'll be left with a cliffhanger from hell. One that will leave you screaming, crying, ripping your hair out, and considering parting with an ovary just to get your hands on the next book just to find out what happens. Oh yeah. It's THAT bad. And that good at the same time. If you're not completely hooked on this series after this book...well, let's just say that you most definitely will be.

She is my salvation, my reason for existence, my queen.

It took me two days of rocking in a dark corner after that cliffy just to be able to write a coherent review. So now that I...mostly have, if you'll excuse me, I'm off back to my corner.

My Original Review:

Nooooooooo! Nooooooooo! This can't be happening. My God, this can't be actually happening. I need answers, I want my damn answers right now Pepper. Please, hear me out. :( Dear Lord, How am I gonna wait 4th Debt? August 11? Seriously? Shit!!!! Pepper, please have mercy Jethro and Nila. Please. God damn it. :( OK.I need to take deep breathes, very deep breathes. And now if you excuse me, I'm gonna go cry and choke my own tears... Bye. :(

------------------

“Love is something that strikes without warning to the most unsuspecting. It’s a fucking gift and so goddamn priceless, but only the worthy realise what they have. Only the ones truly deserving fight every fucking day to treasure it. And those who don’t…they end up alone.

“I’m asking you to make me yours,” I murmured. “Take me into your heart. Let me enter your soul. Give in to what we have.”- - Nila”

“If a guardian angel had told me this would happen. If they'd come to me the night before you stole me and explained the atrocities I would live through, I would still have come with you." - Nila”

“Pressing her breasts against my chest, she whispered in my ear, “I came here to be filled, taken, ridden. I came to find you again. I came to remind you of what we have. I came for so many reasons, Jethro, but most of all, I came to save you.”

“I see the way you look at me. I feel the way you touch me. I hear the hidden messages in your voice. Unlike you, I’ve been blessed knowing the warmth that comes with love. The way a person’s eyes glow and body softens. You love me! And if you can stand there and deny it—when it’s so blatantly obvious—then there really is no hope for us. You might as well march me outside and complete the Final Debt, because I’d rather you kill me quickly than live through this endless death!”-Nila”

“What do you want from me, Nila? You want to know that I fucking love you more than I can stand? That I’m breaking because I know I’m not good enough for you? What ?” My world stood still. “...I fucking love you...” He admitted it.

What. In. The. Ever. Loving. F*ck. Just. Happened!?!?! I am completely destroyed by this book. Holy hell!

If you read the previous book then you know the huge cliffhanger in which the last book ended. Nila has done what Jethro asked of her and has left without a backward glance. Jethro is utterly shattered and isn't able to cope with his emotions hitting him all at once. In this book, we finally get to learn so much about Jethro. With each book we seemed to be getting glimpses of who the real Jethro is. And that was thanks to Nila slowly breaking down his walls. Now we see him with his walls completely down and it was heart wrenching to read.

So much happens in this book. Holy cow! Some things I didn't see coming. God, and that third debt. Kes is a character that I have loved cautiously. Because there were moments I had doubt that he could possibly be as evil as his family. But after what he did for Nila in this book, I love him a whole lot more. And Jethro, my poor Jethro. I hated seeing how much of a victim he is in all this as Nila. It was complete torture. To say my emotions were all over the place is a freaking understatement. I was hurtled around in a freaking roller coaster. I honestly don't know how Nila can remain so strong after everything that has happened. But, I hope that she remains that way after how this book ended.

This book was crazy intense. I could not stop turning the page to find out what would happen next. It was so frustrating seeing Jethro turn back to his old ways. I was on the verge of hating him like Nila did. But after I finally got to understand him, I was so angry with his father Cut for causing so much pain to Jethro. After everything that happened, Nila and Jethro are definitely a lot more closer in all ways possible, and that was beautiful to see. I loved seeing the open and vulnerable side to Jethro. It melted my heart to finally know how he felt. But then that ending had to happen. It was freaking painful! Ugh, I am still reeling from it. I can not wait to see what happens next. I just hope it doesn't get any worse.

It's no secret,I have a HUGE author crush on Pepper Winter's writing.

As many of you know, I'm a fan of dark and NO ONE does it better than her!

This series is amazing! Book #1 Indebted is basically the beginning of the story. Each book after is a debt, a complete story. These are LONG...like 100K words. And boy are they full of intrigue, twists, love, heartache, pain...OMG...I could go on and on.

I LOVE Nila and Jethro. I'm captivated by their story and the obstacles they both must overcome. This series evokes intense emotion.I HATE some of the characters more than I think I've ever HATED any others, while I love others.

If you haven't begun this journey...do it now!!

I'll try to make this as spoiler-free as possible, but I warn you, if you have yet to read the previous books in this series, proceed with caution...

At the end of Second Debt, we were shocked to find that someone has come to free Nila from Hawksridge.

After some time apart, Nila still has a longing for Jethro. She desperately wants to go back, as she has no desire to be back in her old life. She also has no clue as to what's become of Jethro.

When she does return, this Jethro was not the person she left 3 weeks ago. His ice barrier is back up, and seems more impenetrable than ever.

 photo image.jpg2_zps5xgstcig.jpg

Jethro is trying to keep Nila at arms length so not to break through his newfound emptiness. But the feelings are still there, even if they're buried deep.

 photo image.jpg3_zpsfhq7t03g.jpg

She is so deep ingrained into his skin that he can't fight it much longer. The two cannot hold back their lust anymore. It's against the rules and they are risking everything just for their passion to come to the surface.

 photo image.jpg4_zpszty007xl.jpg

Now the Third Debt must be paid. This debt could break the bond that they're starting to get back.

Once the debt is paid, Jethro is able to talk about his "condition" he's afflicted with. Things will not be easy, but the couple are ready to take everything head on to be together.

 photo image.jpg5_zpshra7icvm.jpg

When deceptions are uncovered, everything will change.

 photo imagejpg3_zpsdfa8f0b7.jpg

Holy fuck nuggets!

Yet again, I am finding myself in awe of the talented writing skills of Pepper Winters. The woman sure knows how to write an incredible tale that encompasses so many great things. The angst, the excitement, the twists, the dark elements, and let's not forget some of the most intense sexual tension ever! This was such a great episode in this fascinating series.

I want to start with the ending because I cannot get it outta my head! I was trying to think of all my reactions while reading this book, but that damn cliffhanger is ALL I can think about! So maybe if I get that out of the way, I can get back to how much I am in love with this crazy story!

Is it totally fucked up that not only am I dying to see what happens but so excited for

We get some answers that were much needed. Jethro's condition was the main one. I thought this was extremely original. Looking back on my review for Second Debt, I thought I had it all figured out. Boy was I way off. If you figured this out before it was revealed, you are a freakin' genius. Definitely unique, and it explains a lot.

I think it was implied in the other books, but the Third Debt was pretty much exactly what I thought it would be.

Something that totally threw me was getting a couple more book boyfriends. Love Jethro so hard, but after this I was infatuated with Kes. I never thought too much about him before, because of all the Jet and Nila drama, but damn...he came outta nowhere for me and I found myself swooning for the second born! And the intro to Kill...not much to say, except, is it July yet? Salivating to get to his book!

It's crazy how in each book the two MC's seem to have distance towards each other and are fighting their conflicting feelings. They always seem to come back to face the facts that in this twisted game, their true feelings are always a constant. I am feeling the love, and I am soooo glad for this because it's been a big miss for me lately in other books.

I hope I've done an okay job for this review. My mind is all over the place, and there is no way to express all the different emotions without revealing too much. If you haven't started this and love to go on crazy journeys, it's a must read. I'm absolutely loving.

FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED

"A kiss was a disaster.
A kiss was power.
A kiss was love and togetherness and faith.
It was so many, many things.
But this... this was something so much more"

How can I start to explain the state I'm in right now. I think Pepper Winters is definitely my favorite author. Each book she writes, she proves me she can exceed herself, she can re-invent her characters and bring her readers to exceed themselves.

What's even more spectacular is that with her Indebted series, she is able to still surprise us even after 4 book! Each one is getting better and better.

Third Debt is the fourth instalment in a six-book series, each book are longer than the previous and no way I feel it's repetitive or too long, quite the opposite!
When reading Third Debt, you have the anticipation of what come next, of what to expect, how the author will be abort to sort everything out and make you in a comfortable place just to surprise you when you least except it.

If you thought the previous books in the series where dark and intense, let me tell you, you haven't discovered how brilliant Pepper Winters can be. Third Debt was without a doubt the darkest book. Jethro is not in a good place. We all know he suffers from some disease or something that weakens him. After Nila left him, I feared what would happen to him and I was right.

Jethro becomes the shadow of himself. He numbs himself to stop his feelings and because of the pressure his father puts on him. His only wish is to protect Nila not matter what. He knows that even if she's away the Debt of Inheritance are not over and it will come a time for them to continue

description

Nila is no better. The loss of Jethro put a hole in her soul. She knows it's not healthy to feel this way but when you have found your other half, how do you resist?

"How was I supposed to return to my old life?
How was I supposed to forget about Jethro?
How was I supposed to give up my strength for my brother to adore me?
And how was I supposed to forgive my father and be grateful to him for rescuing me?"

She has the impression to be captured in another kind of jail and her only wish is for Jethro to come and get her

description

I don't really want to say too much about what is happening in this part because I truly think the best experiment you can have is to read the book.

From the beginning, be ready to feel. Whether it's right or wrong, you won't stop yourself to perceive every emotion, every state of mind both Nila and Jethro are facing.

You will have to deal with a ruthless Jethro who because of the drugs he is taking is back to the Jethro we met in Debt Inheritance

My feels were all over the place for him. It was like I could sense his own battle. Even if he thinks he is strong enough to contain his love for Nila, it's a loose battle from the beginning. How can you fight and resist passion? How can you not be in sync' with the perfection this couple is?

"I would live a thousand debts just for the gift of having you love me

description

Both of them need each other so much to get their own happiness. I was overwhelmed with their grief, their need, their protectiveness toward each other. With every page I read I was on the verge of tears, I wanted to console them both.

description

And when you think, some rest is on the way, the third debt will shatter everything.

I hope my review won't scare you too much because there's no need to be. No matter what is happening in the book, one day I have to believe Jethro and Nila will be in a good place and have their HEA.
It's a little bit hard at the moment to see a respite in all the darkness but I have to believe Pepper Winters will give them a spectacular ending.

Please don't read what's come next if you haven't read the book, it will ruin things for you

Last thought, not related to Third Debt: I want Killian's book Ruin & Rulenow. I'm panting for him!!

Type: Book 4 of 6 from Indebted series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Being apart from Jethro made Nila realize what she really gained and wanted out of the atrocious Debt Inheritance. Naively, she followed her heart and tried to find her way back into his without realizing that Jet was no longer someone she thought she knew as he found a new perspective in life.

I have to say, when I first started this series, it wasn’t my favorite Pepper Winters work. But I’m glad I kept reading because the story is definitely getting better with each book. With that said, Third Debt is by far my favorite one so far.

Like the previous book, this one started at a slow pace. The first 60%, dealt with Nila’s readjustment in the household. She got to see several characters in a different light due to her previous actions.

Third Debt: A night of entertainment for devils and a night of horrors for angels.

Then as the Third Debt came looming, things picked right up. If Second Debt was more of a physical torture, Third Debt was more towards psychological. I can take a lot in books, but even I thought this one was pretty high on the eek factor – especially when we learn about the origin of the debt.

We finally learned of Jet’s “condition” which was something he had suffered for a long time. There was a duality of his personality in this book and I have always preferred him the way he was in the first part of the book.

“Sorry doesn’t cover what you’ve done to me. Sorry will never be good enough!”

I’ve never really liked Nila since the first book and this book was no exception. My biggest pet peeve with her is that she never took time to think through the plan before executing.

“You say you won’t judge, yet I feel your hatred toward me, Nila. You say you’re there for me, but how far will that willingness go?”

And she kept saying Jet being cruel, but the things she did to him were exactly that. There were times I wanted to smack her in the head for not seeing how things were when it was quite obvious.

The star of this book (and my heart) was definitely Kestrel. I’ve love him since the first book and in this one, he finally got his chance to truly shine. I was so happy to have a chapter in his POV. I love learning about his past with Jet.

But I was too damn honourable. Too well trained in hierarchy and fidelity.
I couldn’t do it.

There were moments in past books that made me stopped and thought about what his true motivation was and it hurt to see that even Jet questioned that.

Chapter 33 and 34 was what made the book for me. Those two were the best chapters throughout the series. It was both physically and emotionally intense and raw. I didn’t know whether to cry or be turned on because the two emotions didn’t belong at the same time, but that was exactly what I felt.

The ending made a lot of people angry and heartbroken. It was the epitome of “shit hit the fan” moment. To be honest, I have no idea how the story going to evolved from there. I have hope that things will turn out the way I want, but I’m bracing for another emotionally intense ride.

I started reading Pepper Winters "Third Debt" at 7am.... on a work morning!!!! The stupidest thing I ever did because at 2% I got my first "Holy crap, What the Fucuuuccckkkk" moment. Of course I had to see this moment through, I mean who wouldn't. The problem is, then I got another WTF moment... and another ... and another and before I knew it I was late for work because I couldn't put this damn book down!!! Jethro and Nila's journey had taken an unexpected turn (and when I say that, I'm not referring in anyway to the way "Second Debt ended.. although that was a shocker in itself) .... I'm talking about a completely different curveball that I could not have predicted if my life depended on it and as such, this couple held me hostage for the whole day. Every thought I had, every emotion revolved around them, my brain a jumbled, scrambled mess.
"You want me to end your misery. If I do, can you end mine?"

There were so many jaw dropping, heart stopping moments that made this a compulsive read but even more so than any of the first three books (now that takes some doing). Nila and Jethro were characters I'd grown to know and love and to see their story take this direction drove me insane. Nothing could have prepared me for the onslaught of emotions that coursed through me... anger, fury, betrayal and hurt to name but a few. Everything I thought would happen, didn't. All those clever little theories I'd come up with about how this debt could be ended I had to scratch... yup back to the drawing board, that "get out of jail" card getting further and further away for the couple. Nothing about this book was straight forward and none of it predictable. It was almost like a game of chess... Nila and Jethro made their move but there was always someone to counter it... whether that was cut, Daniel, old mother Hubbard, Vaughn or the rest of the black Diamond clan!!! Fuck me... luck was not on their side!!!
This game had turned into a fishing expedition and as all good fishermen know: you have to let the fish nibble the bait before they swallowed the hook and sealed their own fate. Swallow way Nila Weaver. Let me catch you.

There were double crossings and treachery. There were new alliances and friendships born. Lies were told. Truths uncovered and lives changed forever. And the ending... I think I died.... quite literally. I can't even become to put into words what that did to me. I think I literally stopped breathing. I'm still at a loss as to what to make of it all now... I mean surely not? She didn't just... why would she do that???? More importantly how could she??? I refer to the author as "she" because I'm so crazy angry with her right now but I'm kinda thinking gutsy move too!!! I have every faith she knows what she's doing though. I'm just hoping we get the next book soon.
Don't go into the dark alone, little Weaver. Monsters roan the shadows and your time is officially up.

Looking for a mind fucking, crazy, torturous read? Well look no further. Get ready to be consumed by Jethro and Nila in "Third Debt." I rated it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

4.5 Keeps Getting Better Stars!

"I would live a thousand debts just for the gift of having you love me."

This book though! This was my face at the ending:
description

I JUST CAN'T! I have so many emotions going on inside me right now. I don't even think I can articulate what I'm trying to say! I thought the first three books were amazing, but this one took me to the deep end.

"I have to kill to protect. She was mine. It was my duty."

Just when I thought, what else could happen? I'm immersed in more suspense, intrigue, lies, murder and deceit. I wanted to freaking jump into my kindle and save Jethro and Nila! I absolutely loved this and no book has ever made me feel so wrapped up in its story.

Peppers Winters, you are awesome!:)

5 "I want more -- so much more" Stars!

Third Debt picks up right when Nila is taken from Hawksridge at the end of Second Debt. Nila may be out from underneath Cuts roof, but for her to stay safe Jethro is going to have to pay the price. If he's going to live, Jethro has to do everything he can to earn back his fathers trust. To do this he takes pills that numb him and leave him an empty shell of himself.

For three weeks he succeeds at making his father happy, but Nila knows that leaving was the wrong decision and sends him text every day. She's grateful to be away from Cut, but can't stop thinking about Jethro.

“Somewhere along the way, I’d chosen Jethro over everyone. He was my curse, my challenge, my salvation, and I wasn’t going to leave him when he needed me the most.”

Nila formulates a plan to return, end the debts, and be the last of the Weavers to ever have to pay. Unfortunately, the Hawks have thought about it too and when she does return they put a stop to her plan before she gets a chance to attempt it.

When it came time for the third debt to be paid, I was literally on the edge of my set holding my breath. I wasn't sure how it was going to end, but I will say that all of the "iffy" feelings I previously had for Kestrel were instantly diminished. I loved him.

Once the debt is paid, Nila gives Jethro an ultimatum to either tell her what's going on or else she's done.

“You’ve hurt me. Everything inside wants to switch off and cut you from my soul. I’m close. So damn close to that—to slicing you free and never talking to you again.”

Jethro feels she is telling the truth and with that recognition he finally discloses what his condition is. Nila listens carefully taking in everything.

“I’m asking you to make me yours,” I murmured. “Take me into your heart. Let me enter your soul. Give in to what we have.”

My heart broke for him, but at the same time rejoiced in the fact that he now has someone to share it all with. Someone who loves him and will do anything for him.

While Jethro tells truths and grows closer to Nila, other lies and deceptions are exposed bringing forth a jaw dropping cliffhanger of an ending.

OMG! This series has totally captivated me with every book. I read this book in one day. I couldn't put t down. Ms. Winters stories grab on and hold me prisoner, not only while I'm reading, but after too. I still can't stop thinking about this story. It could be because of that cliffhanger, but with this series I went into it knowing there would be one. I'm dying to know what happens next. How am I ever going to make it until August 11th to read the Fourth Debt??

My last comment is to the author.

Pepper Winters did an outstanding job with this dark, nightmarish masterpiece! Left in shock and awe, words aren't nearly enough to explain this one of a kind mind fuckery! Five stars....right, she's earned golden globe solid ten, but good reads don't let you rate that high! So onto the review!

Cut knows how to make those around him walk a dangerous tightrope. Screw with him and he'll treat you like the mangy dog needing to be put down. Oooh yes when it comes to his family those words are laughable as they all can be replaced. Case and point Jethro, first born and heir to his empire has much to prove. The dumb bastard has already made a fatal mistake by falling in love with the Weaver girl. But that's the funny thing about mistakes....they can be corrected and Cut has the cure.
 photo Third debt.jpg
You can call my old man a lot of things...heartless monster, demon spawn, murderer, now you can add doctor feel good to the list. Oooh yeah, nice little round white tablets, guaranteed to take away any humanity left and turning all my emotions into a ice cold blizzard. So the next time he wants to torture, and eventually kill a defenseless Nila, I'll be on board with the program. The amazing thing about these little beauties is... they work!
 photo Third debt 2.jpg
Surviving the hell of the Hawks is an ongoing process, then there's this little matter of knowing once they've extracted all the debts, my life will be over.
 photo NilaWeaver.jpg
You've heard of the phrase "Off with her head" well in that twisted family it isn't a metaphor. Cut means to see Jethro carry the act out even if that means changing the man that I love. Time is running out on my life, but maybe..just maybe I can save his.

My soul is literally crying after reading this book!! Just when I thought that Pepper Winters could not thrill and shock me more, she pulls out all the stops in this latest book in the centuries-old Weaver/Hawk family feud. This is a long, very dark, brutal yet sexy and erotic story. I am completely addicted to Jethro and Nila. Bring on the next book! And the peek into the upcoming Ruin and Rule was a pleasant surprise. This series is like crack - you can't stop and you constantly crave more. Thanks, Pepper, for another fantastic book that kept me up all night reading.

(With thanks to the author for an ARC)

5 Stars, duh...

I have no clue how to review this book. You can’t really say anything midway through a serial and not spoil it for someone. I will say this is probably my favorite serial/series ever. It’s so fucked up, so freaking different. I love every heart stopping, gut wrenching, I am going to fucking lose my mind any second, moment in this series. And this one sure as hell doesn’t disappoint. Like the other parts, you open up with a “how da fuck did we get there moment,” a point in time in the future. Then you go back and fill in the gaps. I felt like this book was very Jethro focused compared to the others. You learn a lot more about him and his “issues.” You finally find out what’s up with him and of course a million more questions that need to be answered.

Minor spoilers from previous books, beware!

So you leave the last book with the cops taking Nila away from the Hawk House of Cray. I don’t think it is really a spoiler, but come on, with a few books left you know this is not the end of it. And because I’m a big ole heffer, I will leave the rest of my review to contain vague details paired with equally lovely gifs.
Just read this series, don’t let the cliffies scare you hoochies.

Okay my wonderful wonderful friends, I have finally decided to sit down and write the review for this book. Just a couple of warnings. One is that this will not be my typical review. Normally I sit down and collect my thoughts before I write my reviews. This brings me to point number two. I've been struggling for nearly two weeks to write this review. That does not in any way mean that this is a bad book. Its actually frickin' amazing and that's the problem.
This book took me so deep and so low into the world of the hawks that I didn't know what to do when the story ended. The book was finished but there is so much more left to the story.
As I finished this book I found myself asking why? Why would Pepper do this to me? Why would she break me into a million pieces? The answer is simple. Its because she's that talented of a writer and storyteller. This book was so well crafted. You get the slow build up throughout the book, you find out a little piece here a little piece there and your thinking, "oh this feels like I'm not progressing. Is time moving?" And then BAM, your knocked so far on your ass you don't know which way is up. The following may be a spoiler. Read at your own risk.

Protectyour kindles and have a glass of something strong to soothe your soul when you are finished. You will be a mess. You will be destroyed. But the thing you will want more than anything is to know what happens next.
This is an amazing read into the dark and twisted mind of an extremely talented writer. While your skin may crawl you wouldn't have it any other way. Well played Pepper. Now hand me my security blanket.

☆ I received an ARC via TRSOR PR in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ☆

Third Debt was just mind-boggling and blowing. I mean, what can’t NOT happen? Pepper Winters just seems to go there right when and where you don’t expect it to.

I don’t even know how to go into this review without divulging spoilers so I’ll keep it a “reaction-based” one.

In Third Debt, Jethro and Nila are quite the star-crossed lovers as both find themselves in predicaments that neither could have ever fathomed or imagined.

11102962 863501537043625 217035793798338691 n

My heart literally broke and soared for both as Nila grew stronger and became a dangerous entity herself; as well as I got to witness Jethro battle between his humane and dark personnas.

Just think this guys, whatever you think Pepper Winters can’t do or won’t go, SHE WILL. This woman of devious, malignant gratification will cast a spell upon you with her no holds barred nature and will capture your attention till the very end!!

Man, were there a lot of secrets, lies, betrayals, treachery, and new bonds formed within this novel! Certainly took me surprise! Especially that HUUUGE twist!! Omigah! I literally was going, “whaaatt da f*%k?! did she [Pepper Winters] actually go there?!”

Aaah, and that cliffy!! I’ll definitely suffer the wait as I am most dying to know what happens next!!

Read in 2019
Reread - Every year since, religiously.

I'd like to say a few words to sum up this book.

*clears throat*

I'm fucked up, you're fucked up, and we're in this fucked up world. So why don't we just fuck(both practically and metaphorically) each other up?

As always, if you haven't read the previous books in the series then browse past this review.

WARNING!!!
By any chance that you've been intrigued by peoples response to the ending of this book, and are therefore on a review binge for spoilers... You've failed miserably with this review you've stumbled on, because you won't be getting the Big reveal here.

Now that everything's clear. (Literally for me after this book)
Let's proceed.

The review
I'm skipping the character's background story, because lets face it people... We're on book #4! Moving on.. As they finally came together in the previous book, they were torn apart quicker than lightening. Nila is set free and Jethro is left to suffer the consequences. Surely the result would be Jethro's death. However instead he is offered an ultimatum. It's everything he ever wanted.. before Nila

Freedom
Acceptance
Purpose

A big stake in the game... A way to protect Nila

"She was my salvation, my reason for existence, my queen."

Instead of protecting her, he lost himself. He became numb, controlled, trapped in a world he hates. He forgot his purpose.

"A kiss was a disaster. A kiss was power. A kiss was love and togetherness and faith"

Enter Nila...
She broke down his wall's before, she will do it again. Only this time she will shatter those walls beyond repair. He can no longer hide his true self. All will be revealed.

He fell.
His knees gave out.
He slid down the wall like a melting glacier.
The moment he hit the floor, his knees came up caging his body, barricading him from the pain he couldn't handle. His arms wrapped around them, curling into himself, pressing his forehead onto his legs. Hiding.

"Nothing is ever black and white, Nila. You should know that by now. It's all how you survive the grey.

Ultimately, he is a Hawk she is a Weaver... The debt's continue.

First Debt - Completed.
Second Debt - Completed.
Third Debt - Completed.
Fourth Debt - to come.

Each debt worst than the last. (Seriously worse!!!)
It's time for everyone to chose a team.. Everything will change.

"She was my number one. Over everyone. Even myself."

To protect Nila, the darkly handsome Jethro must risk everything! And if they can find a way to trust each other, they must be able to survive, to heal, to save each other.

Cliffhanger!! That cliffhanger is the death of me. This is the best from this series. I love how Jethro finally telling us whats wring with him. And i love him more.

I do love the relationship grows between Jethro and Nyla. They both finally admitting their true feeling toward each other. I feel it all. Just like Jethro feel the burden of his world and his destiny.

The story has not ending yet. Now off to the next book.

I AM IN RAGE RIGHT NOW, IT WILL SUBSIDE EVENTUALLY AND MY THOUGHTS WILL COME TO AN AGREEMENT OF A SORT...

GOD, HAVE MERCY ON ME!

YEAH, THE REAL REVIEW IS YET TO COME and here it is...

April,19th

OK, this is hard for me to do, since there are still remnants of what i've just witnessed recently...so, bare with me...those who know me, also know how much I like/love/adore Jethro – hell, I'm obssessed with the man and ...I just, I just...

Oh, God... I swear my fingers stopped pressing the letters on my laptop by themselfs and these words came on screen instead of what I really wanted to say...cause I can't go any deeper, right now but I'll try to focus on the feelings that consumed me completely and that just made me stronger in belief that my first notion on these series was just RIGHT and we were DESTINED to go through all this together...

About the story...
The payment of the Third Debt is looming over Nila's head, now that she has chosen to fight for thier love...she's much stronger in her believes and in the power of the feelings she has for Jethro.
And my man, my dear troubled man Jethro is on the road to hell and he's been set to do so from the beginning being the „troubled“ one and we finally get the „name“ of that troubled state and let me tell you people, it makes me LOVE him even more... I fell in love with him all over again...and that dreadful cliffy almost killed me...and that's a lie, cause it did kill me, I aged 5 years or so, after I've read the end and that is not something to be joyous about...

Damn, I should have know better then to throw myself into this without a safenet, I mean this is Pepper Winters, after all!!! I adore her, I've read and will read anything that comes out of her mindset and pen...although Pepper, i don't envie you...you had to deal with this much longer than any of us readers ever will...

„...Don't hate me. Don't love me. Don't fear me. Put up a wall and just stop.“
„You're asking me to stop feeling?“ I gasped. „That's like asking someone to stop breathing, Jethro. It's not possible.“

Yeah, my thoughts exactly!

It was impossible not the feel and I was aware of that BUT I was NOT prepared...

I loved and I got lost in the Nila and Jethro's interactions...the thrill was all over me, the tingles, the goose bumps, all of it...

The kiss went from a connection of lips to something deep and ravenous.
A kiss was a disaster.
A kiss was power.
A kiss was love and togetherness and faith. It was so many, many things.
But this...this was something so much more.

And Jethro showed that he's so much more layered, so much deep and darker notions run through him...that he would not stop...

I have to kill to protect. She was mine. It was my duty.

There were so many emotions that kept rumbling through me and just like Nila, I saw through him, inside him...

„Look at me.“
„I'm looking Jethro and despite everything you do...I see you.“

And I loved what I saw despite his flaws, despite the whiplashes of moods changing, despite the turmoils of his actions, despite the fire and ice running through his veins...and mine for that matter
I believed every single word he spoke outloud and even when he left them unspoken...his amber eyes were the ones that did it for him

Trust me
Wait for me
Don't hate me

And Nila was the answer to every one of his questions, every one of his doubts, every one of his flaws...

She is my salvation, my reason for existence, my queen.

„I can be completely myself. I can take everything you have to give.“
„I need you to know that i adore you, Nila Weaver. I treasure you. I've never had anything so goddamn precious as you.“

„I'm going to show you what it's like in my world. Will you let me?“

And that was the point where my heart bursted into flames and then was shattered with the aftermaths of Jethro and Nila's emotional display - I got to „see“ the true Jethro and he exceeded even the slightest notion I ever had of him

Trust – if i was honest, i didn't want to be helpless to his whims. But at the same time... wasn't that what trust was? To have faith in someone that they wouldn't go too far?
His fingers stroked my ankle. „I promise on my soul I will never hurt you again.“

„I need you inside me.“
„Why? Why do you need mw inside you?“
„Because i can't handle the intensity anymore!“
„Now you know...now you know how it feels to live with my curse.“

Their surrender was...just

It's exquisite.
It's raw.
It's debasing
and mind-blowing
and real.

AND IF IT ALL ENDED IN THAT MOMENT IN SOME WEIRD CATACLYSM, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORTH IT, EVERY SINGLE EMOTION GIVEN AND TAKEN.

And for the rest of it...i still can't find any words, so I'll let these gifs speak for themselves...as they do...speak the truth, after all....buuuaahahahahah

since my kids were around...so the only thing I could have done looked so close to this...

Cut and Daniel, no word for you, you sick mother f*ckers...and you Bonnie, screwed up old bat...be afraid, be very afraid...cause i'm coming for you...

a thousand deaths wouldn't be enough...
