Tracey Johnson, an arctic fox shifter in Santa’s Village at the North Pole, is tired of waiting for her mate to notice her again after a drunken kiss almost a year ago. She might be thin, flat-chested and love pink a little too much, but she deserves a mate who will love her despite her flaws.
Polar bear shifter Mark Halverson has been in love with Tracey since the moment he first laid eyes on her. After their shared kiss, pride kept him from claiming her the next day, but he couldn’t let her go. Through time and patience, he waits for her to realize their connection and give him another chance.
When Tracey decides to ask Santa to help her get over the past and find another mate, Mark realizes he’s been silent for too long. With the big man’s help, he has three days to make amends and convince his tiny fox he can be the mate she deserves.
This was book 2 in the "North Pole". This was a short quick read that I liked. Tracey Johnson, an arctic fox shifter in Santa’s Village at the North Pole. She is tired of waiting for her mate to make a move. Polar bear shifter Mark Halverson has been in love with Tracey since the moment he first laid eyes on her. After their shared kiss, pride kept him from claiming her the next day, but he couldn’t let her go. When she ask Santa for another mate he knows its time to step up. This was a good read. Both of these characters were very likeable and I even liked the secondary characters. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I liked this one more than the first one. But, that might have been because a fox is my favorite animal. I loved the part where she was on the bed. More foxes 🦊!
Sweet and sexy Christmas Romance. "Silent Bear" North Pole Series Two is by Ruby Shae. Published: November 15,, 2014 Read: December 12, 2016 My Rating: 4 Stars
I absolutely love Ruby Shae's bears. All of her novellas are steady to fast paced and can be read in a couple of hours. Her heroines are typically voluptuous and curvy; just what her large bear shifters are looking for in their mates. Ruby's heroes are largely built, sexy, tough, protective and loyal. Ruby is an author I like to keep an eye on.
The premise of the North Pole series is how the polar bear shifters of the North Pole find their mates. Each bear has their own personality and they are all sexy! These polar bears are the enforcers/protectors of Santa's village/town and all the humans and shifters that reside there. The cast of characters not only bring fun, love and romance, but there is witty banter and quirkiness with some light angst. And of course they all have HEAs.
Mark Halverson and Tracey Johnson.....
Mark is a polar bear shifter, an enforcer and protector of Santa's village. For the past year he has been in love with his mate Tracey, an arctic fox shifter. One hot kiss, one misunderstanding later has a year of time wasted. Mark refuses to give up hope; he's patient and there's nothing more he wants than Tracey. She is his mate, his love, his to protect and cherish.
Tracey has been trying to gets Mark's attention for a long time. One night a year ago, she's finds the courage to confess her growing feelings to him. It seemed he felt the same way. They shared a life changing, passionate kiss but the next day Mark acted like it never happened. As a result, Tracey was heartbroken. Now a year after that scorching kiss, with no hope of Mark showing interest in Tracey, she is ready to give up.
Of course the adorable craziness begins and then they start to make progress. I really loved Mark! He was so sigh-worthy. And Tracey was kind and sweet. Together they made a fun and sexy couple.
This second book in this series was another winner for me; a perfect Christmas romance!
The North Pole Series: #1 Jingle Bear November 3, 2014 #2 Silent Bear November 15, 2014 #3 Little Drummer Bear January 23, 2016 #4 Santa Bear December 10, 2016
A misunderstanding has these two shifters not mating for a year. Tracey is an arctic fox shifter who has wanted Mark a polar bear shifter forever. One night at the local North Pole bar they kiss and confess their feelings. But the next day Mark has to work an extra shift as an enforcer for Santa and misses seeing Tracey. She thinks he was drunk and doesn’t want her so she starts flirting with his friend another polar bear shifter. They spend the next year dancing around one another, she thinks he only talks of her flaws and he thinks she wants his friend. This Christmas Tracey decides to ask Santa for a mate and the ability to forget Mark. Mark hearing that she is going to ask Santa for a new mate crashes her meeting with the Claus’s. Upset that he crashed her meeting she runs away, unfortunately there is a blizzard coming and Tracey gets caught in the ice and snow. Mark goes after her and rescues her. He takes her to a lodge in Minnesota where they have to stay three days before Santa will give Tracey back her necklace which opens the portal back to their magical village. Santa leaves her a note asking her to put her pride and anger aside and open her heart to love and forgiveness. The two start out bickering but soon fall into a rhythm. Building snowmen, snowball fights, and hot cocoa lead to kisses and making up. Mark explains that he was never pointing out her flaws, he was telling everyone what he loved about her. She tells him she never had feelings for his friend it has always been him. At the end of three days Santa drops off a new message for them while they are enjoying their mating. They get to stay and enjoy the lodge for a week and the Claus’s are happy they are mated.

This was such a nice book. Tracy was such a sweet little fox. But she thought Mark was making fun of her. When really he was just expressing his love toward her. But she just didn't understand. She thought he was making fun of her. When Santa put them together in the honeymoon suite they finally got to talk about what was gone wrong. After talking everything out they realized they really both loved each other. So happy mating and Merry Christmas.
When a silver fox falls in love with a polar bear, she believes it’s all one-sided until Santa comes to the rescue. She decides to take matters into her own hands and in doing so almost dies in a sleet storm. However, her polar bear has other ideas and with Santa’s help she realizes that they do have a chance at Life together.
I grabbed this to read through KU after reading another one of these stories in a box set. Really just didn’t feel any spark or connection between these two stubborn, uncommunicative idiots. Couldn’t care less if they mated or not.
Another really cute novella from Ruby Shae. I really liked this little book. True love does exist and makes everything okay, when you listen to it. Tracey and Mark learned that lesson.
A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
Mark Halverson a Polar Bear Shifter, and an enforcer for Santa and the North Pole, has been in love with Tracy Johnson a Arctic Fox shifter, since the first time he kissed her. Santa worked his magic for christmas ! Fated Mates Mark and Tracy!
If you do something dumb, acknowledge it and speak up which of course is the opposite of what this couple did - - for a whole year. Thankfully Santa knows how to resolve this problem.
Cute holiday short story with a fox and a polar bear and Santa! Santa sends the fox and polar bear on an exploration to find happiness and love again. The holiday cookies sound wonderful and so does the snow fun!
Again we are in Santa's Village in the North Pole where our Arctic Fox shifter Tracey and Polar bear shifter Mark are trying to get noticed but neither is willing to say “Hey I want you to be mine.” Mark and Tracey both know they are Mates but for some reasons they just can’t tell the other.
It all started a year ago when in a dark hall of the bar Tracey confessed her feelings -her true feelings- to Mark. They shared a kiss that could have brought her to her knees.. but both of them thought the other was drunk so after that day they never mentioned it again. Mark had tried to go to her the next morning but he had to work. As an enforcer it was his duty to patrol the boundaries and make sure their village was safe. Tracey works in the toy factory and despite her being a shifter she is vibrant. She dies her hair platinum blonde with pink highlights and is all about pink. Loves sugar cookies with extra sprinkles (though I think we all like that). She is petite, well built and not really got a lot going on in the boob department but for Mark all he sees is perfection.
When she thinks back over the last year the things he said about her -to her- sounded as if he was making fun of her. Running any potential man -mate- away from her. But what she doesn’t get is he isn’t making fun of her. He was talking her up. He loved the fact that she was quirky, and had a fond love of pink. Maybe if he had told her after that first kiss... or if she had said anything to him... things would be different now.
Alas, they were in a standoff. Now with things heating up -mainly her temper- he was following her up to the roof of the toy shop. Their argument left him confused and mad. She needed to see Santa to see if he could find her a mate. She ran off towards the stairs and slammed the door -locking him on the roof- and knew she needed to get to Santa. By the time someone opened the door for him she was already with Santa and Mrs. Claus. He took off running and busted into Santa's office. (laughs hard) Of course Santa knew why he was there, even though he didn;t say much about it at first.
Mark tells Tracey in front of the Claus’s that he is her mate and she gets so upset -thinking it is only out of pity- that she starts crying and runs off. He is determined to show her that he is really in love with her. Santa of course is more than willing to help him out. Tracey meanwhile is running off into the tundra, letting her legs carry her far from Mark. But there is a storm coming and by the time Tracey stops running and looks around she is surrounded by ice and howling winds. She curls up on the ground and after a long search Mark finds her. His bear barely being able to follow her trail. He shifts -since they can shift fully clothed- wraps a blanket around him and her and starts walking off with his little fox curled into his big warm chest.
When tracey wakes up she is snuggled down into a big red blanket. She has no idea where she is or who is here with her. When she sees Mark he is coming into check on her. Her fox is buried down under the covers. hiding. She gets out of bed and shifts back to human. Mark tells her they are in cabin and they need to talk. Tracey isn’t ready to have any of that. She grabs for her necklace but its gone. Santa has it and leaves her a note that she will get it back in a few days. They have 3 days to sort themselves out.
And they need all of that time. But eventually… it all comes out while they are decorating the Christmas tree in the cabin. Mark brought all sorts of things she likes. But they are things he likes as well. She of course, again thinks he is making fun of her but Mark confesses to her about being completely sober that night but seeing her flirting with Quinn the next night he thought she was drunk and got them confused. She told him of her thoughts and finally they clicked. (snorts) In more ways than one. Needless to say they both see what they have been missing for the last year. At the end of their 3 days they are now fully mated to each other and happier than ever.
They both got the best Christmas present they both needed. Each other. This was another sweet, short story full of awesome! I can’t wait for more.
Tracey, an arctic fox shifter, and Mark, a polar bear enforcer, are shifters working and living in Santa's North Pole. A year ago, they got drunk and shared a kiss and both knew they were mates. But Mark didn't call right away, so Tracey decides to flirt with another guy and instead of taking action, Mark got sullen and left her alone. So now the two live with their pride and are unhappy being away from each other. Until Santa sends them away to confront their issues.
Sexy and sweet, but not really steamy enough for my tastes. The UST was nice, but the resolution of that tension was underwhelming. Both of the characters are ridiculously stubborn and Tracey is a bit of a runner with some messed up self-esteem issues...so she dyes her hair pink and likes round peppermints instead of candy canes - that's what makes her so weird that she thinks Mark doesn't want her? It seemed strange to me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A sweet and patient love story about missed chances and the power of persistence. Tracey and Mark’s journey from misunderstanding and pride to mutual recognition and healing feels honest and tender. The inclusion of Santa’s Village and holiday magic adds a whimsical charm to this heartfelt romance about claiming what’s truly meant to be.
Silent Bear is a sexy, funny and charming Christmas Shifter romance. The cover description gives you most of what you need to decide if this story is one you’d enjoy.
One mistake shared by two shifters and now one year later they will finally get to the bottom of the misunderstandings. Mark and Tracey make a funny and charming couple. When they aren’t dancing around how they feel about the other one, they are busy making Christmas magic at the North Pole and protecting Santa and the Village. Probably everyone in town knows that these two belong together. They just need to discover the truth for themselves.
I enjoyed Silent Bear and the other stories in the North Pole series. Shifters and the magic of Santa. What’s not to love? :)
Emotions are so easy to let run away and lead us astray. Mark and Tracey are both guilty of pride and insecurity allowing them to waste away an entire year away from the one they love. Thank goodness for santa and his abilities to allow these two to make amends and realize, what went wrong.
