From bestselling mystery author Stephanie Caffrey comes Sin City's most unlikely detective...
When a heartthrob lounge singer gets passed over for a big promotion, who does he call for help? Raven McShane, the most unconventional detective in Las Vegas. When Raven isn't working at her gentlemen's club, she's stirring up a hornet's nest of trouble as a private detective, but this time she might be in over her head. When her investigation turns bloody, she enlists outside muscle (who just happen to be drop-dead sexy) to help her navigate Nevada's seamy underside and help her client beat a murder charge. Intrigue, betrayal, and colossally bad luck challenge Raven's spirits, but she charges ahead with her chin up and her heels poised to do maximum damage.
Note: This book was previously published under the title: "Ring of Fire."
Fun from start to finish. Raven is a sharp, funny character who's learning the ropes as a private eye. Her insider's view on the Vegas entertainment scene is crucial as she solves another Sin City whodunnit.
I enjoyed this book. I like books set in Vegas because it always seems like a big and colourful city where anything can happen and that is certainly the case with this book. In true Vegas style it kept me entertained and hooked until the very end. The mystery was good and I didn't pick up on the clues, so was surprised with the unexpected twist. Raven is a great main character with plenty of spunk, humour and smarts. She is so much more than a stripper and bad guys shouldn't underestimate her or the series. I think I might have to give the audio books ago too. When Ethan gets passed over for the job that was promised to him, he turns to private investigator Raven for help. But her client hadn't told her everything and not even his money is enough to keep her working the case. Until his rival is shot dead in the car park and Ethan is arrested. His lawyer hires a big pi firm to handle the case but Ethan still wants Raven on the case. The lawyer just wants to prove that somebody else had a motive to want him dead, from loan sharks to under age prostitutes the list is long but Raven wants to actually find the killer.
A lounge singer wants to know why he was passed up for a job and Raven must find out. The guy she has to follow could be part of an illegal underage prostitution ring. In Las Vegas? Shocker.
Raven’s a hoot pretending to be a lesbian to get out of a dinner date. The covert operations are a little amusing. But, still, the overall investigation was pretty hum-drum. Overall, the whole thing wasn’t easy to get into.
Vegas Stripped (Raven McShane, #2) by Stephanie Caffrey.
This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a stand-alone book. The story's main character is Raven McShane, an exotic dancer in Vegas who is learning to be a Private Detective. This is a fun, light hearted, cozy mystery story and quick read. This was previously published under a difference title and author name. Maybe Stephanie Caffrey is the pen name of Caroline Dries? Original publication date: November 12, 2014.
Raven McShane is a private detective, and she's also a Las Vegas stripper. When a heartthrob lounge singer gets passed over for a big promotion, who does he call for help? This time though, she might be in over her head. When her investigation turns bloody, she enlists outside resources to help her client beat a murder charge. Intrigue, betrayal, and colossally bad luck challenge Raven's spirits, but she charges ahead with her chin up and her heels poised to do maximum damage.
I read the first book in this series and really loved it. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second one. I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed this one.
I liked the mystery; I have to say I didn't solve it before hand like I usually do. It was nice to be surprised at the end. I hadn't figured it out at allllll.
I like a little romance with my mystery, so I kind of wish the author will step that up in future books. But still I really enjoyed this sexy las Vegas read and recommend it to anyone who loves a good cozy mystery.
This is the second in the Raven McShane series. Loved the first one, love this one. Raven's one of those characters you'd love to know. She's funny, smart, and pretty much fearless. She finds herself falling into situations that lead the reader on a merry ride. Kimchi? Not often you see that in a mystery book. Enjoyed this one as much as the first and, like the first, I am waiting patiently for the next one. Read it. You'll enjoy it. It's fun...not meaningful lit-tra-ture.
I really enjoyed the second book of this series. I read the first book and thought it was great and this one is just as good as the first one. It keeps you guessing all the way through. I can't wait to see what is going to happen in the third story.
I received an e-ARC of this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
very funny and entertaining. It was fun and a pleasure to read a book that wasn't annoying in any way.I also love a girl who loves to eat, read it! Hope the next one is coming out soon.
Raven is back again. Striping by nigh and working as a PI during the day. This is the second book in this series and it is just as good as the first. Raven has a big case she is doing for one of the Vegas singers when he is accused of murder.
Once again, this book kept me guessing who done it! I enjoyed the inside look of a Las Vegas most people do not get to see. Hope to see more of this series.
