Brilliant. A perfect read. I expected turn back the pendulum story arc would be lame but it's pretty darn good. There's less fighting. A+.

Still loving this manga, but god damn does Kubo write some long-ass arcs. Well, it's more that the fights can take up a bit of time, which inflated chapter count. Like, we finally see the Visoreds again for the first time in a long while, but... it's in a long flashback (though presumably we'll see them in action when we get back to the present).

I've seen a lot of disdain aimed at the Hueco Mundo sub-arc here, but... I don't quite get it? I guess the primary complaint is just that it's the exact same thing as the Soul Society Arc. Which is fair enough. But... it's a fighting manga. The point is to have fights. So ripping off Kurumada's Sanctuary again isn't unreasonable ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯

Volume 34: Nel uses Resurección, but it almost immediately jobs (rather, she runs out of power and turns into a kid again). Tesla uses Resurección and beats up Ichigo for a bit before Kenpachi ENTERs. Then Byakuya, Unohana, and Kurotsuchi ENTER against other dudes. Kenpachi kills Tesla with ease, then fights Nnoitora. Kurotsuchi fights Szayelaporro (which seems... obvious). Byakuya fights Zommari, the source of one of the biggest Shunpo memes. Byakuya kills his foe first. The volume ends with Kurotsuchi in the process of killing his. Kenpachi, who started fighting first, isn't done yet, but his panel-time was disrupted by both other Captains' fights. Unohana doesn't fight, btw; pretty sure she doesn't do shit until the TYBW.

Volume 35: Pretty much the entire thing is Kenpachi versus Nnoitora. Nnoitora uses Resurección. Kenpachi doesn't Release at all (still), but does a) lose his eyepatch and b) shift to a two-handed kendo stance, which basically act as power-ups. Stark kidnaps Orihime back. Aizen announces his attack on Karakura. Ichigo's party and the four Captains (plus Assistant Captains and Hanataro) are trapped in Hueco Mundo. It turns out Urahara and the science team worked to swap the real Karakura with a replica, so all the humans are moved to the Rukongai in the real Karakura while Aizen and some Espadas will fight Yamamoto and the other Captains in the Fake Karakura.

Volume 36: This entire volume is a flashback to Urahara's start as a Captain, leading into Aizen's corruption of the soon-to-be Visoreds. The flashback itself extends beyond the scope of this volume, so we don't see everything yet. Only like three out of eight Visoreds so far. Well, two; Hiyori got her mask but hasn't fully Hollowfied by the end of the volume. I don't think it was mentioned early in the Arrancar Arc, but apparently when Shinji was a Captain his Assistant was Aizen, so that's important. There's also a lot of cute fanservicey stuff (in the general sense, not the lewd sense), with stuff like Yoruichi teasing young Byakuya, shota Gin being groomed- I mean recruited by Aizen, Kisuke hiring Mayuri out of maximum-security spirit prison to help create the Research and Development team, Tessai as commander of the Kido Corps, and Shuhei getting inspired for his future tattoo.

****

"Wait. What are you... WHAT IS IT THAT YOU'RE TAKING OUT?!" 🤣

Cero Sincretico 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯

"Why? Isn't it obvious? I need to know... how to label the specimen jar I put you in."

"Take it easy. I have no special power. I just got tired of seeing your trick over and over."

"It's the Pass Out Society!!"

"Don't be silly. I modify the composition of the poison after every fight."

"Interesting."

"Well... Then... Enjoy the next hundred years."

"It's nice."

"I couldn't come up with anything clever. So... I decided to cut your arms off one by one instead."

Halibel's immense underboob...!

Haha, wouldn't it be weird for Hiyori to kick someone in the face with her bare foot in real life...? Like... as a joke... is what I mean...! Or even Hiyori kicking me- uh... I mean, someone else, theoretically, hypothetically... in the dick...?

101-years-younger Lisa thighs when running to the crime scene...!!! 🥵

Hollow Mashiro thighs and armpits...!

Nanao...! 😭

These three books are all very exciting.
We continue the fights between the espadas and Ichigo and co. with some more comic moments (though vol. 11 was had more of those actually).
Pretty soon new and powerful players arrive and things get to a conclusion and there's the setup for what comes next in terms of the fight between Aizen and co. and Soul Society & humans.

But what i actually think more exciting about all this is that we start delving into Urahara's past.
Now that's for me the main course from the 3 volumes
I'm very partial to Urahara so this is good!!!

The invasion begins! As Ichigo and his friends nearly save Orihime, Sosuke Aizen and his Arrancars has began his invasion to Karakura Town... and so are the Soul Reapers, ready to defend and protect the living! A back story origin on Kisuke Urahara, Mayuri Kurotsuchi, Shinji Hirako and the creation of Hollowfication. All in all, this is a much better volume (34 to 36) compare to the previous.

Battles continues between the soul reapers and the Espada. Four Captains arrive in Hueco Mundo and Aizen moves his plans forward. Byakua went after Rukia but stopped by Zommari. "You aimed your blade at my pride." That line made me all gidy. The battle scenes were wonderful, character history comes to light about what happened a few hundred years ago, and now the battle of arrancars and soul reapers will commence.

We get some surprise guests that really spice it up as the Hueco Mundo battles near the end. My favorite part of this volume was seeing the soul society 100 year prior with all the ways the characters from then changed till now. I would spent so much time reading about that time period, spin-off anyone?

szayel vs mayuri and kenpachi vs nnoitora… now we’re talking! the backstories for all the demonic villains are a bit silly, but the fights ROCK. the vizard flashback is terrific, too. also lol @ shuhei hisagi’s edgelord face tattoo getting an explanation.

A lot of sword swinging and pointless bluster in this one, then some juicy backstory.

The last volume was definitely the best! There's more backstory and shows how the characters are connected! And builds up a good cliffhanger at the end. I think Orihime being like teleported back to the tower was a little pointless though and undermined everything that the group did. But overall not a bad volume!
