I have started the next audio box-set in this series, it is filled with danger, loss, pain and sorrow along with smiles, laughs and love. This set is just as great as the books before, it is so nice to see old family and learn stories of old and new characters.
Westward Moon Takes us back a few years when the Indian split over beliefs and wants. Jack and Sparrow fell deeply in love only to lose each other when her father started his own tribe and moved far away. Many years later Sparrow is forced to marry a man she doesn’t love only to find out he is mean and abusive. By their law the Indian woman can divorce their husbands but her husband and her father won’t agree which leaves only one choice for Sparrow that is to run hard and fast back to the man she has always loved. What follows is the trials of that love with many stepping stones along the way leaving blood and death in its way.
The story is very heartbreaking with some very touching scenes. I thought the author did a wonderful job bring the story to life pulling in the reader and making them a part of the story. I am very much looking forward to listening to the rest of the box set to see where this series goes.
The narrator does a wonderful job delivering true emotions to the story, you always know who is talking and just what that are feeling. There are no repeating of words, no background noise just a truly enjoyable listen that pulls you in. His normal voice is very pleasant as well as his character voices, his voice is easy to listen to and gave me many hours of enjoyment. He made me feel the pain and sorrow each character is going through as well as the excitement and danger that comes with this story. With his narration he made me understand why some people act the way they do and that not everything is as it seems. For me he bought this story to life making it easy to picture each scene as it was happening. His performance was top of the line pulling me in giving me a listen I couldn’t put down. If you haven’t listened to any of his audios you don’t know what you are missing.
The more I read or listen to stories about this very close-knit family, the more I love them all. They are so caring and not afraid to show their love and respect for each other that it makes my heart sing. This particular story deals with this aspect as well as the trials and hardships encountered by Sparrow and her intended, Jack. Of course there is a delightful happily-ever-after! This story was narrated by J. Scott Bennett in an audiobook and as always, it was a pleasure to listen to his varied and well-matched voices which are very consistent. I loved the characters, the story and the narration and will be happy to continue reading/listening to more of this series. I requested and listened to the audiobook version and my review above is voluntary and unbiased.
The story itself is not bad, but being the first book I've read in this series, I was confused about the time period. The actions and language of the characters constantly shift between modern day and historic (ie. Indian maidens not having "time to shop" for Christmas presents or poodles on cattle drives?). I don't think it was the author's intention to write a time-travel romance, though that is what it sounds like. A little deeper research into the time period would make it less disconcerting for the reader.
Wow once again I enjoy reading your beautiful stories.j Jackson and Sparrow love was since beginning so hard for them to be together . They have to fight against her father Indian culture and his white culture. You write with your heart making us to live each and all personages events, happy, sad, and funny. Keep up
This one was a long time coming. I felt so badly for poor Jack and Sparrow in the past books. I felt even worse once I realized what Sparrow was going through. I love how they fought to finally be together. Then I wanted to strangle her for “trying” to give him and out. It was a sweet story overall and I’m glad they got their HEA.
Westward Moon. All of the characters and mail order brides of Books 1-9 continue to appear and advise, as Jack Samuels (son of the hero and heroine book 1) has a relationship with Sparrow, a Lakota girl he has loved since childhood. In this warm, charming, clean tale of the West, which could be more historically accurate (upstairs bathrooms in the Old West?).
I was so excited to finally get Sparrow’s and Jack’s story but I was a little disappointed. Sparrow made some stupid decisions. I did like the story a little bit but Sparrow was annoying at the end. Here’s hoping the next one is better.
I'm so loving these mail order brides like crazy. I started on book eight but can't stop reading them. They're so entertaining that I JUST can't get enough!
Jack and Sparrow are reunited after years apart. Thanks to her friend Sasha Sparrow is allowed to finally get back with Jack. Sparrow has been married in indian law and her chief will not grant her a divorce. This marriage threatens their happiness and to further complicate things Sparrow finds our she's pregnant by her former husband. Its a combination romance/family/adventure and its told very well. Tessa and Dean's children are growing up and all the repercussions from that are a meaningful addition. Its a sweet romance that has family support. This book is passionate tale and well written. Much better than the last two. (Note: Too really appreciate this story read some earlier books.)
