« L'un des meilleurs thrillers que j'ai lus cette année. L'intrigue est intelligente et vous tiendra en haleine dès le début. L'auteur a fait un superbe travail en créant des personnages bien développés et très attachants. J'ai hâte de lire la suite. » --Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (concernant Par tous les moyens nécessaires) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Jack Mars is author of the bestselling LUKE STONE thriller series, which include the suspense thrillers ANY MEANS NECESSARY (book #1), OATH OF OFFICE (book #2) and SITUATION ROOM (book #3).
Axle Strike of Homeland Security is ordered to infiltrate a cult like operation high up in the Colorado mountains during a storm. The intel is that the leader of this cult is going to have his flock "transcend" to the next level = meaning: drink the koolaid and die. Axel has to find a way to stop this from happening.
A storm is raging outside, communications becomes spotty, and Axel finds out his lost teenage first love (and her daughter) are being held prisoner in the compound.
Can Axel and team get there in time? And to add another twist, something sinister is also in the works that extends far beyond the borders of the compound to threaten thousands of others.
I was pleasantly surprised to come across this action thriller. It's extremely engaging, and by the end of each chapter, it was a struggle to stop and not find out what will happen next. The author did an amazing job of keeping you wanting to read more. The pacing is great, and the usage of words really makes it easy to visualize the scenery and action that was taking place. As I got deeper into the story, there were really random moments for me that triggered extremely deep emotions that I did not expect to feel in an action thriller book. I definitely would like to read more about Axel Strikes and his adventures.
Wonderful characters a good storyline, but a little bit too wordy and description for me. I skimmed a lot of pages. There was a lot of information that I didn’t need to get to the ending. I really like axle and I look forward to more books, but this one had too much detail and got bogged down and yet it was a good story with good ending, I recommend anybody read it because I like the people in it.
New character, quick read but so over the top and unbelievable that it was hard to commit to a second in this series. Superhuman feats, a guy whose body appears practically indestructible. The visuals the author paints are easy to see in a CGI setting but outside of that. Not Jack’s best work but definitely his work. Good summertime or beach read.
I felt this book was a complete waste of my time and couldn't wait to put it down. It read like a poor TV script with a canned plot. Not one surprise and not even the main character generated any interest.
One unbelievable line says it all "I watched you jump from one helicopter to another in the middle of a storm"... "It's my job", he said clenching his jaw, "I'm good at it. I save lives"
Book 1 was a fun read and had a few errors throughout. The characters and plot are well done. Some of the explanations are a bit plain in the description. I look forward to book 2.
A good and entertaining read. Good character development, and lots of action. A short and easy read with not a single editorial error. Though the ending is a bit over-the-top. Nevertheless, I look forward to reading more in the Axel Strike series.
Very intriguing a great plot with twists and turns. I could not put this book down and would have finished it in one go, if it weren't for my cat! Can't wait to read more books by Mars!
