A Vampire Paranormal Romance

Dani Malloye hates the holidays, and with good reason. Though her best friend tries to force the Christmas spirit on her with giant Santas and elves that light up, she'd rather spend her time doing what she does best--enforcing paranormal law on the streets of Chicago. Nothing like a little evil bloodshed to lighten the mood. Besides, work means she can spend time with her sexy boss, Cornell Sutton. Too bad Cornell is uptight, her new neighbor, and a vampire. Everyone knows slayers and vampires just don't mix. Or do they?

Dani is a slayer so she shouldn’t be attracted to her boss a vampire. However she can’t deny the attraction she’s had for him for years even though he likes to yell at her. She doesn’t have the holiday spirt after what happened years earlier so when her bestie shows up at her house with a truck load of decorations in attempt to bring the cheer back to Dani. Who doesn’t love multiple Santa Clauses with twelve reindeer harps and that’s just to start. Add in a few obscene snowmen and snow angels should be a good time for the girls. When Dani’s long time crush and boss Cornell shows up things are going to heat up for all of them.

I like Dani she’s got a good reason to not be a fan of the holiday’s but I think Cornell may just have what it takes to make them a little better for her. The attraction between these two has been brewing for years it’s only natural for them to finally take it to the next level. I have to admit the slayer and vampire concept was perfect they just work so well together. I’m curious about Mimi and Finn so maybe they will be the next book.

I picked this one up as a kindle freebie almost a year ago but never seemed to get around to it. I loved the cover right from the start but it ended up lost on my kindle. Hunted Holiday is a fast paced holiday HAE romance between a slayer and vampire which totally works. They have been drawn to each other for years it’s only fitting that they finally act on that attraction. The chemistry between the two is on fire and it’s a steamy love story. The author did a great job creating a unique story that captured my interest and is well written. My only complaint it I want more of Dani as a slayer more it’s to short I need at least another 300 pages just for the book. However it’s a perfect teaser into an exciting new world I hope to see in the future. This is my first book by the author but I very much enjoyed it perfect for a quick read and I hope to check out other books by the author.

This was a quick holiday paranormal romance. It was fun and hot.

The story is about two co-workers on a paranormal police type force who keep the mean nasties from hurting the humans. They have been attracted for some time, but never done anything about it. Until now. Cornell is an old-natural born vampire who recognizes his mate in the forbidden slayer that he brought in, had trained, and now has her on one of his teams. He is just giving her time to grow up and heal from a personal family tragedy. A friend reminds him that there's no time like the present. So he goes for it.

Dani has made herself into a tough, independent slayer. She's not big on rules and deals out the snark. She's had a thing for her starched up, rule following boss, but prefers to deny her feelings and attraction. She would go right on ignoring her desires if Cornell hadn't made his move.

Alright, this one got down to things quickly as it's rather short. Its a fated mates romance set during the Christmas season, but its also a story that felt like I began in the middle. It also felt more like an intro to a series than a book with a full story arc. Still, I had a good time and I love the idea of a paranormal policing force so I'd recommend it to Paranormal Romance Fans.

Great holiday romance with a bite

Love the fact that the big bad vampire was nervous about telling hi slayer that she was his mate. Check out this short paranormal tale.

Title: HUNTED HOLIDAY
Included in the anthology KISS OF CHRISTMAS MAGIC
Author: Mandy M. Roth
Publish Date: 11.11.14
Publisher: New Concepts Publishing
Category /Genre: Paranormal Romance, Short story
Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content
Received from: Mandy M. Roth (in exchange for an honest review)
Grammar/editing: A – near perfect

This is one of twenty stories compiled from today’s top authors. It does stand alone, but I hope it leads to more stories from this alternate reality.

Dani doesn’t remember the holidays ever being a good time of year. How could she, when her earliest memory involves seeing vampires destroy her family? Her best friend, Mimi, is trying her best to force the season onto her via giant lawn Santas and twenty, not so little, reindeer (cause eight just isn’t enough). Her new neighbor, and her boss, is the very sexy, vampire, Cornell Sutton. Dani would much rather be chasing the bad supernaturals of Chicago with Cornell than singing Fa-La-La-La-La with Mimi, even if he is an uptight stick-in-the-mud….. at least he’s a gorgeous stick-in-the-mud.

This was a fun holiday twist on paranormal romance. Vampires, slayers, and fae, I love them all - Dani, Mimi, Cornell, and Finn. Dani may hate the season, but she appreciates her friend and understands the love being shared. She also doesn’t lie to herself or her friends, no matter what the question. How refreshing is that! Finn may appear up-tight, but when he decides to claim his mate, nothing gets in the way of him vampiring-up! Sigh!! He’s sexy, sweet, and completely alpha yummy.

I am so glad I got to read this story from the anthology and I am looking forward to reading the rest of them and more from Mandy M. Roth.

Happy Hunting! 5 stars

Terrific!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this very uplifting sexy *HOT* magically romantic holiday/Christmas (piece of) tale. I have yet to have read a book from Mandy that I haven’t loved, and this one is no different! First off, the hilarity of a vampire finally finding his mate after centuries of looking who just happens to be…well, I don’t want to ruin the magic of this book, so you will have to read it and find out for yourself! I can tell you that I laughed hysterically and WOW! It is just the perfect amount of story with an HEA. I have to admit that I am in awe of Mandy’s power! I have said this before and will keep on saying it Mandy is one of those rare authors that can make you believe that the characters are real people and make you long for it to be true all while she has you fully immersed into the story for so long after you have finished the book that you are still thinking of it and wondering how all of your new friends are doing! To be able to “experience” the story is truly rare. I never find myself “disconnected” from the characters or the story at any point, and always want more to read! Didn’t know that I had ever shared my longing for a Vampire Mate, but I guess that Mandy’s powers are REALLY strong and her power of intuition, or mind-reading, over great distances, maybe dream-walking?, ARE that powerful that they enabled her to have come so very damn close to my own heart’s (secret) desire!! I would love Love LOVE to see this expanded into a full length novel and as the first book or at become part of a series!!!

Short and sweet, but totally fun holiday romance story.

Hunted Holiday was typical Mandy Roth, considering the comedy and snark, but it was also a sweet little romantic tale too. The side characters offer a touch of hilarity and chaos to the mix which makes this book extra fun. Hello Finn, you snarky pain in the butt, I like you a lot. and Mimi, you are a riot of a best friend.

Cornell is a Vampire. Dani is a slayer. Cornell just so happens to also be her boss. A slayer working for a Vampire, you'd think this wouldn't end well, right? But of course, in this story, it works out quite well. Except for the fact that Dani is Cornell's mate and neither of them is making a move for the other.

Cornell and Dani were super fun characters. Both a little afraid to go after what they really wanted. Both fearing it could never work out as they should be "sworn enemies" But alas, fate has a way of divining what we need and its not always what we've come to expect.

I loved how they finally came together, it was a super sweet and funny moment. Sort of an Oh My Goodness, I can't believe that's how it happened! It's nice to see a Big Bad Alpha fall sometimes, but it's equally as enjoyable to watch them hold firm onto what or whom is theirs.

I'm totally down with most of this book, but when the main dude gets his name shortened to Corny (by his best friend who has perfected the art of annoying him in ways no other can) I did a double take. Because hunks of burning love and "Corny" are not two things that go together in my head.

That said, I liked the world here. It has a boatload of supernaturals, a world that's a little dark and dangerous, and a bet friend who is determined to spread some holiday cheer. BFF, don't let this give you any ideas. If you show up at my house with a giant Santa and various other holiday baubles, I will give you the strangest look known to both man and beast.

Dani and Cornell. I liked them. Cornell's moods and Dani's desire to spread a little havoc amongst those who are breaking the laws made them fun. The fact that Cornell goes to such extremes to be near Dani even though she's not aware of the connection they have (well, she IS aware of it, she just isn't aware it's reciprocated) made me nod sagely. Because men who build houses to be near the women who captivate them are either stalkers or vampires with a mating issue.

I hope you can figure out which side of the fence Cornell falls on here.

Vampires and slayers. I liked them in Buffy. I like them here.

Hunted Holiday by Mandy M. Roth

A quick and delicious novella that introduces us to Dani, a paranormal slayer in Chicago. Unfortunately it seems that you can't slay your best friend, a Fae that just LOVES the Christmas season. You know when said friend shows up on your front lawn with a TRUCK and begins to decorate your entire yard with huge Santas and enough lights to land a few planes. Add to Dani's bad day, her falling on the ice multiple times after getting bruised up in a fight the night before, while your boss, that you might just have the major hots for, and who did the unthinkable thing of building a house right next door to you, sees.

Enter Cornell, Dani's vampire boss, that is tired of waiting for what he wants for Christmas. A quick fall and a trip to his house, finally opens Dani's eyes to the fact that he wants her just as much as she wants him, if not more. Let's just say, that Dani and Cornell do their best to warm up the season while giving the nasty homeowner's association leader an eye full.

I so can't wait for full stories on all of these characters. Everyone of them has huge, fun personalities that grab you from the first moment you meet them. My only downside, it's a short and sweet, and sexy story – I wanted about another 400 pages!

AGAIN MANDY ROTH HAS DONE IT....A ENTERTAINING LOVE STORY.......OVER 18,

This is a GREAT story. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I mean that you have Danni,A Slayer, who 10 years ago watched vampires kill her whole family. Danni now works for Chicago Bureau Preternatural Investigation-Enforcer (CBPI). Her best friend Mimi (a fay) who also works at the same place as one of the Magiks. Mimi lived in a mansion on the other side of town, she didn't need to work but did anyway. Cornell Sutton, from one of the ruling Vampires families, also her boss, and 2 years ago bought the 3 properties next to Danni and torn down the house and build a giant Gothic mansion, which he moved into 6mos. ago. All slayers have a certain sensitive to certain supernaturals and Danni"s is vampires.A certain vampire that lives next door, the only one she has ever been interested in, he is watching her and Mimi in her yard, Mimi decorating her yard for Christmas because her family wouldn't let her at home. Cornell's friend Finn , also vampire who worked with them. Now after telling you main people and hitting lightly on their connections, I won't say more but to say this shall be a very interesting night. With a lot of things kept hidden for one reason and thought for another.

I am a Roth Head for life.
I started with Immortal Ops Books 1-4, and thought I was hooked then. I then became a member of her review team, and am sent books for an honest review. I had already bought the 20 box set that included Hunted Holiday, when I received it for a review.
This is a short story but with just enough background to the characters to make you love it. Dani Malloye is a Preternatural enforcer (slayer), who has the hots for her boss, a vampire, named Cornell Sutton. She believe him to be a stick in the mud, but unknownst to her she has the hots for her as well.
Mimi, Dani’s best friend, is trying desperately to get her in the holiday spirit, and gets Dani to let her decorate her house and yard for Christmas. Cornell is watching from his window, and his longtime friend and fellow vampire, is trying to talk him into going and talking to Dani.
While there are so many reasons they shouldn’t get together they can’t resist the pull they have to each other.
Although it’s not an action packed story, it does have plenty of giggles, anatomically correct snowmen, hot vampires, and hot and erotic sex.
Mandy manages to capture a perfect story in 7 short chapters, she happens to make you love the characters, with just a few words.

This story was provided for free by the author in return for an honest review.

I loved this story. I loved Dani. She was snarky and funny. I adored how she was with her friend. She didn't care for the holidays but that didn't stop her from allowing her friend to run wild with holiday cheer and decorations. Ms. Roth gave us a peek into her brain that I found hilarious, but she also showed a vulnerable side to Dani. Since it is such a quick read, Ms. Roth wasn't able to give us much back story but what she did tell us felt right for the type of story she gave us. I also enjoyed Cornell. He came off as harsh, at least to Dani, but we learned fairly quickly that it was just an act. I enjoyed the interplay between him and his friend and what that told us about the type of man he is. I loved that he gave Dani time to grow up before he told her what he felt. Ms. Roth told a story in which I could feel the respect each had for the other even as they hid the emotion. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to reading about more from this paranormal unit.

****A gifted copy was provided by the author for an honest review****

Ah how good is this story? Let me tell you. It is a short story about Dani Malloye who cant stand the holidays- she does have good reason- trust me (don’t want to spoil the reason why). She has a crush on her boss, Cornell, who she thinks doesn’t realize she is alive and oh another thing—she is a slayer and her boss is an undead vampire. If things couldn’t get any worse…
OMG, this story was awesome!! I loved how Dani and Cornell literally just burned up the pages with their words, their eye glances at each other’s…
Bet you are wondered if they finally got together and made Christmas right. For that, you have to read this story. I can say, you’ll not regret reading this story. The cast of characters in this story will enrich the canvas and take ths story and make it so rich with characters that you won’t want to stop reading. Just wish this story was longer, for I didn’t want the story to stop.

My rating: 4.8 stars ****

Dani and Cornell are a great couple, she's a slayer and he's a vampire, oh and he's her boss. No problem there, right? She thinks he mean and doesn't like her, but that is the furthest from the truth, for he knows she is his mate, but thinks she doesn't like him. I found their efforts to resist the temptation of each other to be cute. This is a great holiday read from Mandy!

Dani Malloye hates the holidays, and with good reason. Though her best friend tries to force the Christmas spirit on her with giant Santas and elves that light up, she'd rather spend her time doing what she does best—enforcing paranormal law on the streets of Chicago. Nothing like a little evil bloodshed to lighten the mood. Besides, work means she can spend time with her sexy boss, Cornell Sutton. Too bad Cornell is uptight, her new neighbor, and a vampire. Everyone knows slayers and vampires just don’t mix. Or do they?

Great Book!
This is a great book; it is a novella so it can be read in one sitting. Dani is a kickass slayer, she hates the holidays, but her best friend is determined to change her opinion about the holiday. Her friend decorates her yard with a giant Santa. Dani has had the hot’s for her boss Cornell since she first met him. Cornell is a very old vampire, who has also been interested in Dani since he first met her. He knows that Dani is his mate but he doesn’t want to scare her off. This book is great, the characters are funny, and have a snarky attitude with each other. I hope the author Mandy Roth writes another book with the same characters because they are great!

A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

***ARC was received for an honest review

The reader enters the story amidst the chaos of electrical cords, lawn decorations and a Fae friend with an overzealous penchant for all things Christmas. The heroine's penchant however is for her broody next door neighbor who also happens to be her boss, never mind that he is a vampire and she's a slayer. Little does she know, and will soon learn, her feelings are requited and then some.

While this story was short, it is the most "complete" novella I have read in some time. The pace is spot on, all characters are well developed and the storyline itself is engaging and more than fulfilled this reader's romance "fix". It definitely holds up as a standalone but I for one hope to see more from this world (hint, hint). I'm sure that many a reader will feel the same.

It's a short read, but so good!! You get it all, the love, romance, sexy vampires, and a kickass slayer, whose best friend is a Fae!
I don't want to say a lot with what happens since it's a short read, but....

Vampire meets slayer and falls in love. But slayer doesn't know, thinks vampire (her boss) is a stick in the mud lol
She is attractived to him, but come on her boss, it's a no no. She has problems with the holidays, I'm guessing family got killed, you really don't know.

So the big question...do they get to together? Does she love him? Are they a mates pair? And does she have a happy holiday? Well get the book and find out!! You will love it and won't be disapointed! Great job Mandy, awesome short.

Mandy M. Roth has done it again. She has written a story that as always makes me want more, but is as always the perfect amount of information on the characters, story line, sexy sizzle, and giggle.

This story is about Dani a slayer and Cornell a vampire, who is also her boss. Slayer, vampire, boss...so many rules to be broken there. With anatomically correct snowmen, hell hounds, a prejudice head of the home owners association, and a Scottish vampire who will be lucky if he doesn't get his balls racked playing pool with a feisty fae. you cannot go wrong with reading this book.

As always Mandy M. Roth rules at writing a perfect book to read in between books. This is short, you get a good story and some sexy hotness, and an HEA.

Quick Quirky Love story
Very enjoyable story about Dani a slayer (Preternatural Enforcer) and her vampire boss. And Dani’s friend Mimi whose goal is to bring the joy of the holiday back in to Dani’s life. It’s been a long time since she had holiday spirit, because bad things always seem to happen that time of the year. Her boss (Cornell) who happened to build a house right across the street from her, is one hot sexy off limits Vampire. But Dani can’t stop thinking about him. This is a very enjoyable love story with a HEA and no cliffhangers. I was given a free copy for an honest review.

A short holiday gem.

I find it necessary to shut myself behind closed doors when reading one of Mandy Roth's short stories. She makes me laugh out loud. Hunted Holiday is no exception.

Dani is a Slayer, in lust with her boss, who is a Vampire. He's straight laced, she's irreverent. The two can never make it as a couple—then why are they fated mates?

Dani's best friend tries to force holiday cheer with uber decorating, she knows the holiday holds terrible memories for Dani. Their banter is great.

Will her up tight boss object to the display, or surprise Dani and make a move? Read for a delightful short tale.

So good! I really enjoyed this book! Cornell is an alpha Vampire, that we would all like to meet, tall, dark and super sexy. Dani is a strong female, and a slayer to boot, which means that she can kick ass with the best of them. Their relationship is quick, as this is a novella, but it's written well, and the characters are engaging enough, that I will definitely read more, in the series. It will be a series, correct?!!!! The secondary characters are interesting enough that they simply beg for books of their own. Finn sounds like he would provide a most excellent read, LOL! Mandy did a fantastic job building a new world, that I look forward to visiting again.

This is a short story. Dani is a member of the Preternatural Enforcer, a vampire slayer and her boss is Cornell Sutton, a vampire. She feels that he is always finding fault and giving her a hard time. Then he buys the house next door and several others and built this huge mansion. She isn't happy to have him next door. Dani hates christmas and her best friend shows up with a truck load of ornaments to decorate her year. She never decorates or celebrates Christmas. Why does Cornell keep looking out the window at her? Why has he and his friend come over to her house? Read the story to see what happens. I really enjoyed this short story about Christmas.

Hunted Holiday was a really quirky and adorable story. Dani is a slayer with the bah-humbugs and the hots for her boss. Hunted Holiday is fast paced introduction to who Dani is and her life without dragging the story out. Dani’s boss Cornell is a vampire and she does everything in her power to annoy and irk him. Cornell keeps his eye on Dani knowing that she is his, even if she doesn’t know it. I love how Dani is sassy and sarcastic all the way to the end. I’m ready for more of Dani and Cornell as well as Dani’s best friend Mimi and Finn.

A quick hot vampire read that is included in a new holiday anthology. This one is about a vampire and a slayer who works for him. She thinks he mean and doesn't like her, but that is the furthest from the truth, for he knows she is his mate, but thinks she doesn't like him. The holidays hold no good memories with our heroine, but this year will bring her new ones. The characters are fun, kick ass, and loving in their relationship with each other and their friends.

I discovered Mandy M. Roth through the Happily Everlasting series where different authors write the various books. I was so impressed with "Once Hunted, Twice Shy" that I think I had too high hopes for this novella. "Hunted Holiday" is less of a short story than a lead up to a sex scene. It feels incomplete and underdeveloped. While it is a nice intro to the characters it doesn't really give a sense of whether the subsequent stories will be well plotted.

Great holiday book. I liked Dani's snarky attitude. She obviously loves to verbally poke at those around her. She and her BFF Mimi are a hoot. Cornell had been waiting five years for Dani. He's finally ready to claim his mate. Super spicy but sweet ending.
