☆☆☆☆4 WOLFY STARS!☆☆☆☆

How The Wolf Lost Her Heart is a dystopian adventure novel set in the future.I liked the future part because I haven't read a lot of books like that lately. And this one was quite refreshing.

description

I did like the plot.It was somehow unique from other dystopians out there. The thug band was a great great idea, and also the story sets place in London, which is one of my favorite cities of the world.

description

I also enjoyed the changing into spirit animal thing.Actually I haven't heard or read anything like that before.I could visualize some scenes and I think this would make an interesting movie.

description

The characters were well build especially some side characters like the twins, but I did have a problem with Skye. She is strong and caring and everything but I don't like the way author has described her personality. She tried to be resistant, didn't accept any jokes, and sometimes was quite rude, and somehow I couldn't connect with her, seemed fake to me!

description

I also wanted to see more action, more happening because I felt like sometimes the story dragged on with not very important things and in the other hand there were so much going on what could have been more interesting!

description

This book follows a girl named Skye who can morph into a white wolf. One day she meets Raphael,a boy who can morph into a tiger. On the other hand there's this band of thugs who are trying to destroy everything good. With everything going on Skye finds herself caught up with feelings and with this desire to fight the band, which can bring her her own destruction.

description

I recommend this book to every reader out there, especially if you like dystopians. It's a great read,so pick it up!

There are several things I liked about the book. The cover being the first- it’s very captivating, don’t you think? Another is the setting/world building, which is a futuristic, chaotic London sometime in the year 2217. Quite another are the characters who are no ordinary humans- they’re morphers! SKYE morphs into a…

…while Raphael morphs into a…

HOW AWESOME!!!

But wait, there is one more thing that really caught my attention. The Thugs or a group of really bad people who infest the futuristic, dangerous London. They go about doing unimaginable crimes but the government keeps its eyes shut and allows all sorts of crimes to happen day in and day out. The world reminds me so much of that of the Purge only here, the “purge” takes place every day!

What a scary place to be living in!

>

I must say however that the best thing I liked about this book is the writer’s constant references to Philippines and Filipinos as Sarah Brownlee has a bit of Filipino blood in her. It makes me quite proud!.

It was as though the beauty of the man before her, a beauty that shone inside and out, had just illuminated itself as a beacon in front of her eyes...and she didn't want to stop looking.

The ending however was a bit hurried. What happened between the major characters in the second to the last chapter was quite of a shock. I wasn’t really prepared for that. Also, I guess a bit more elaboration on the system of government as well as the form of society would have helped the reader understand the present situation better. The writing and pacing could also use improvement but overall, it was an entertaining and unique read as this book is a diversity of genres from fantasy, dystopia, romance and YA paranormal.

“Her heart pounded irrepressibly as she climbed into bed and realised without a shadow of a doubt, that she had fallen clean in love with him.”

This was an interesting YA paranormal romance featuring ‘Morphers’.

Skye and Raphael were both good characters, and both had lost people in their lives which had impacted greatly on them. Skye did come across as a bit standoffish, and she really liked to jump to conclusions too, which made me want to slap some sense into her, but otherwise she was a strong character.

The storyline in this was quite a slow romance with a background of tensions between different gangs, and a couple of attempts on Skye’s life. It was nice how Raphael played bodyguard and hero though, and saved her at times, even if she didn’t want to admit it! There were a couple of points when Skye jumped to conclusions that irritated me a bit, but otherwise the storyline was pretty solid, if a little too slow.

The ending to this was interesting, and it seems like there will definitely be a sequel.

It's been a while since I've read a YA to be honest, but I enjoyed it so much, that I didn't even notice what type of book it was until I finished it!

I want to thank Sarah for giving me the opportunity to read her book & I want to advise people who like reading YA dystopian novels to give her novel a try, because it's definitely worth it. :)

First of all, I'd like to say that it was a nice, sweet and quite entertaining read! I liked reading about a dystopian England, it was a nice & pleasant change.

Now, back to the plot.

We are set two centuries ahead in time (around 2217 if I'm not mistaken..), where London suffers from an army of thugs, who attack people on a frequent basis and no one can do anything about it. Skye is a young girl who is a Morpher, which means that she has the ability to transform in her inner spirit animal, a white wolf. One day she meets Raphael, another Morpher, whose spirit animal is a tiger. Skye tries to keep her ability hidden, while Raphael's is known amongst the society. Raphael comes from an important family, while Skye is just a normal citizen. Raphael is trying to convince Skye to become friends, but she doesn't make it so easy for him..

I don't really want to say more, but I truly enjoyed this novel. I liked how their friendship slowly built, I liked the fact that there were small chronical spaces between the chapters. I like watching progress and not insta love. So I'm thankful for that!

I loved both MCs , even though I have to admit that there were moments that I could slap Skye in the face. I like her, all right, I do. But I think that she wasn't doing a great job being a friend. Not only to Raphael, but to Daphne as well. Daphne, the twins and other side characters were people I really enjoyed reading about. I loved how I got to know a little bit of their personalities, even if they weren't the main protagonists.

Last but not least, Sasha my dear,

I am really curious now to see how the story is going to develop on the next instalment. I can sense already that it's going to be a lovely adventure & I'm looking forward to it :)

***I received a free digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.***

I never read a book about Morphers before so this was quite an interesting read for me. I thought the author did a good job in creating this new dystopian world and I really liked the strong female friendship portrayed throughout the story. However, the characters lacked development for me and the writting seemed very redundant at times which is why I ultimately gave it 3 stars. The book ended on a cliff hanger although I'm not sure I would be interested enough to continue reading this series.

•Pity. This book is not just for me.

The things I like:
•the base story about shifting into an animal.. Well if I can shift into one, I'll be a worm. Atleast I can stay and eat books all day.. (ha-ha.Lame joke.)

•The twins. Reminds me of my favorite twins Jigger and Trigger (Filipino Pocketbook heroes)

•the Filipino foods. Halo-halo and rice cakes are my favorites...

The rest is okay (except the heroine.. don't make me start with her)but not exactly the type to make me go crazy.

This book was such a breath of fresh air and really different from the types of books I usually read.. I love shifter books.. and this did have shifters in it but they aren’t called shifters. They are morphers! Which basically means they “morph” into whatever animal is inside them…same as shifting just called something different. This is definitely YA and there is very little steam. Not until the end and it still wasn't graphic. But it was sweet. Now for me.. I love lots of hot sexy scenes.. but it really just would not have fit in this story.

This story takes place 200 years in the future in London.. this is supposed to be sort of dystopian and I guess it is in a sense .. but at times it seemed like it was still 2015. The city has been divided into two groups.. pretty much you’ve got the good side where people still have morals and believe in right and wrong and then you have the other side that through their morals out the window. There are still laws.. but government just basically exists. They aren’t doing anything to stop crime and are just a face. Now during this time.. there are still cars that people are driving although they are much cooler.. people still have jobs and go to bars and dance.. a lot of things were just like it is today. Communication via cell phone is a lot different as they are called TAG devices and you get a hologram of the person calling you.. so that was cool

OK.. back to the morphers.. 200 years ago ( our current time) an experiment was done with a group of people where they were injected with something that would give them the ability to morph into an animal. This serum affected the gene make up of people and this ability to morph was passed down through their generations. Not every person in the family tree gets this morphing ability though. It sometimes skips a generation. OK.. now morphers are held in high regard but at the same time they are feared. They are looked up to but sometimes avoided. They are considered different and not everyone wants anything to do with them. Some keep their morphing ability a secret because of this. One thing stands though.. if any morpher is caught attacking a human they can be put down.

One of those people that hides her their morphing ability is Skye. Skye is able to shift into a white wolf. She doesn’t want to be looked at as different.. she’s 19 or there about and has a really boring job. She’s got a best friend that she hangs out with but her life is pretty boring…. Except for those times when she lets her wolf out at night and she can go running and let loose.

Raphael Renzo... now he has no problem with everyone knowing he’s a morpher. His family is kind of like royalty in the city..the good side. He’s in his early 20’s and sexy and sweet. No bad boy here.. the girls do love him though.

Raphael and Skye meet when she is being harassed by the local thug that hates Raphael and Raphael's entire family. These two families have been a war for a long time. They avoid each other now to keep the peace.. but its a fragile peace. Especially when this is one sinister douche. Super bad dude.. not a morpher. Anyway.. Raphael saves Skye even though she didn't need saving considering she's a morpher. They find out right away what each other are. Its highly unusual for either of them to meet another morpher..so they strike up a friendship. Both secretly want more as time goes by but neither will admit it. There are plenty of mis-understandings but nothing to angsty.

This was a really sweet story and I loved the way Raphael and Skye's friendship grew gradually and it wasn't all insta-love. They took their time falling for each other and when they finally did...

I awwwwd :)

With evil dudes lurking, morphers falling in love, and a kind of dystopian society.. I really did enjoy this story. There was no cliffhanger but the ending did leave enough open for their story to continue. But for now, they are finally where they are supposed to be...together.

It isn't often that you get a unique world that is set in the very distant future, ruled by gangs and where mystical creatures could truly be anyone off the street but that is exactly what you will find in How the Wolf Lost Her Heart.

Skye and Raphael are special characters that come together by chance but have so much more in common than they ever could have imagined.

Set in the backdrop of a very dangerous futuristic city (London) full of gangs and violence and you truly have an interesting read that will keep you turning the pages simply because you are curious about what will happen next.

Will this story wasn't perfect and the romance was a bit shaky in believability, you do get a somewhat original storyline and an interesting theme of creatures descended from an experiment performed during our modern times that still affects those from the futuristic London of the story.

Overall this was pretty well written and engaging and I would be interested to see where the author takes the story next if she decides to make a sequel.

I think the blurb pretty much covers the summary of this book. In short Skye Archer is a ‘Morpher’, which means she has the ability to transform into her spirit animal; a white Wolf. Living in London, which is basically ruled by thugs and gangs who have the authorities in their pockets so they are able to beat, torture and commit terrible crimes whenever they like with no consequences. Skye keeps a low profile and never reveals her true identity but then she meets Raphael, with his fierce ambition to save lives and to not sit idly by, he shows her there's a life worth fighting for.

This book was really, really good, I’m so impressed that this was a self-published novel, way to go! So for starters I sort loved and hated this new creepy dystopian London, completely overran by crime, where you must be careful going out at night and people live in constant fear. We’re not giving much background as to how it became this way but I really didn’t mind this, sometimes a lot of info dumping about the past frankly bores me, so this was great to just be thrown into a world and focus on the present.

I have to say being a Zoology student and a huge animal lover, being introduced to Skye Archer who wants to go work with wild Bengal Tigers? Hello Soul Sister! I loved it, not many protagonists love animals or have pets so this was great to read about. Although Skye isn’t without her faults, she’s fiery tempered, stubborn and a bit rough around the edges, however I would expect no lees from a Wolf! I like a heroine who’s a little abrasive, she did annoy me at times but I would still rather this than some innocent Mary Sue.

The romance between Skye and Raphael is slow, maybe a little to slow for me as I mean Raphael spirit animal is a Tiger, I was totally expecting some hot moments but the romance was much more YA and sweet. I felt that Skye fell to Raphael slightly too fast but I still really enjoyed their relationship.

I would have loved to see more action in this book as it mainly evolves around the slow gradual romance between the MC’s, because of this the potential war between the criminals and the so-called protectors was left in the background. This caused the middle of the book to become a bit slow and felt like nothing was happening, a little bit of action of adventure would have been perfect. Although the way the book ended it looks like we will be seeing a lot more action and we finally got some romance so I will definitely be picking up the next book!

Awwwww! Okay, I'm just going to say it took me a heck of a long time to finish this. Mainly because of:

1. I have cruddy wifi that's as reliable as me when I promise to go to bed early (which I'm sure you can guess is not....)

2. I feel as if some parts dragged on, and others I wanted more of! :( there were character action scenes with fighting that could have held more inner dispute, but the romance was a little draggy (I'm only 60-70% of a romantic) so it was sweet at times and only bothered me when it got chosen to be written before the action.

Other things!: *will write when it's not midnight here (aka later)*

How The Wolf Lost Her Heart was a fun and exciting read. I felt like I was on a futuristic adventure with Skye moving through the streets of London. It was intense to see the world building and how it differs from current times, between the gangs running the streets and peoples "tags", it was unique. I also found the idea of how a person got a "spirit animal" to be intriguing, and how "spirit animals" came to be. I liked the fact some science was thrown in there, it wasn't a natural biological adaptation.

Our main heroine Skye is a young woman, she's fiercely independent with a quick temper and shaky self-esteem. I found her to be lovable, she's like any other 18 year old girl, she's still unsure of herself. Skye hides the fact she's got a spirit animal, she's afraid of being rejected again because of it. To her it seems more like an unwanted condition like acne at the beginning, even though she relies on her wolfs strength at times. Our hero is Raphael, a guy in his 20s who happens to also have a spirit animal. Raphael wants everyone to know he's capable of becoming something more, he doesn't hide it. He's also extremely popular with the ladies and feared by many.

I enjoyed the book, I can definitely see this becoming a series easily. There were a lot of original ideas blowing around through the story. I'd recommend to anyone who likes fantasy, dystopia, some romance and of course shifters.

This book would have been so much better if it had been written in and/or set in the 1980s. But apparently 200 years in the future, we still have crap like this:

"Picking on girls again because you're too much of a coward to take on anyone your own size?"

"And why in the world are you wearing men's clothes?"
"Oh, ah," said Skye. "I, erm, bought them."
"Bought them? Why?"
"Oh, just felt like a change," said Skye in a would-be cheery voice.
"Felt like a change? Oh Skye... Please tell me this isn't a sign that you've lost interest in the male species!"

Nice to see that sexism and transphobia are still around in 200 years! Everything from the nightclubs to the weird rivalry between Skye and the "mean girl" seems straight from some '80s movie!

The world building here was weird. There were things that we explained in too much detail, while we were just supposed to let other things slide. Like apparently newspapers being abolished? Wtf? Why? There isn't a strong authoritarian government here so that just makes no sense. There's an attempt at explaining all the thugs that run rampant in the city, but it makes no logical sense. It would be better if there just wasn't an explanation.

How the Wolf Lost Her Heart is a fun book. Set in the distant future this book presents us with a world of chaos where the thugs run free and the authorities turn a blind eye to their antics. Skye, a morpher, just wants to keep her head down and out of trouble but when Raphael charges into her life with all his ideals she has to seriously take a moment and think of where she stands.

For me this book had a bit of a rough start but it definitely pulled through. I think there could have been a bit more detail about the Morphers in general and how the society functioned, specifically the government entities. While there were some standard cliches there was something unique about the story as well. I enjoyed reading it! Sure there is a bit of lost potential along the way but overall this was a great book and i'm so glad I had the opportunity to read it.

Side note Joey and Ricardo should totally have their own spin off book or something. They were fantastic!!!

I received an ARC from the author and have voluntarily left this review.

I'm not really sure what to rate it, to be honest. It was hard to put down, but I'm not sure I was really in love with it. I liked it, I'll definitely read the next one, it was all a very interesting concept...I've not dealt with too many shifter stories, and it definitely left me wanting. It was a short and sweet story. The main characters, and their families were likeable. The people you weren't supposed to like, you definitely didn't...but I didn't care too much for Skye's friend, that's okay though, I didn't find her to be entirely important anyway.

so i finished this book how the wolf lost her heart by sarah brownlee which she sent me some months ago to read and give an honest review.

i really liked this books it was pretty good :) its a paranormal romance and this is the first book if u like paranormal roamnce dystopian shape shifter books this books is for you :)

this review may contain spoilers..(im not sure if some things are considered spoiler but i dont think so)

what i like about this book: the love and romance between the characters is not insta love.. that happened really fast, i liked that it took some time if not a long time for the characters to be in love with each other and mainly to tell their feelings to each other..

loved the thing where they are shape shifters/can transform into animals :) i also love the tecnology in the book *.*

i liked the main characters which are sky archer and raphael renzo :) skye is really sttuborn and hot headed, sarcastically funny and sometimes really rude.. i think i kinda relate to her which was good :) i like the fact that she is a pretty normal girl (except the fact that she can transform into a wolf) when i say normal girl is that she has her insecurities and her dreams and fears.. i also liker her funny friendship whit her bff daphaene and her mom :)

raphael renzo is also a relly good character he may be rich and very good looking but he also has his insecurities and fears and he can be protective he is also brave i also love his dad and their brothers :)

i also like that london is the way it is which gave the book a dystopian feel to it.. with all the thugs and criminals and fear in the streets (some scenes in the book are really sad and scary :c) even if the book has this dystopian fell to it (its not that way form reality with the thugs and criminals and crimes and murderes and all those rela life stuff that happen) i like that real feel to it.

i also like the mystery behind the experience of their ancestors and how the ancestor of skye and raphael were connected (we didnt get to explore that much of it in this book just the enough to make us think and wonder and make connections between both ancestors of the characters)

i also love the feeling of founding and solving the mysteries in the book (related to their ancestors and their connections, and other things) and the anticipation of events (like i could see that coming (which makes the situations kinda real)

now things that i was indifferent or sometimes i didnt like in the book: the stuborness of skye towards rapaheal.. and also when she hides her feelings from him (these two things may make u mad bc u want them to get togheter, but at the same time these things are good beacuse it makes the romance to go slower and take its time and it makes the situation real in my opinion (i know we all hate when two characters just met and they are already in love and dating bc it usually doest happen in real life)

after reading the book u end up hating the main vilan called pierce and all the thugs/criminals for all the stuff they done :c

i dont see anything i didnt like in or hated in this book.Sarah BrownleeSarah Brownlee

this book its a really quick and easy read , so i totally recommend this book :)
i also liked the ending and i cant wait for the prequel which will tellt he story of the experiment and their ancestors and the second book which is called 'How the Tiger Faced his Challenge' :)

Whoa, where to begin? This book was quite different from anything that I've read - which is wonderful! It is an amazingly original story that I absolutely devoured.

Skye is an eighteen year old girl who is a morpher - someone who can transform into an animal. She is a strong-willed young women who values her independence. Skye doesn't flaunt the fact that she is a morpher, she has experienced negative reactions from her gift and also harbors guilt over something from her past. When she meets a fellow morpher, Raphael, she learns that he wears his ability with pride.

Skye and Raphael embark on a friendship that creates a bond Skye could never have dreamed of having. Skye desperately pulls away from Raphael because she is so afraid of her feelings and doesn't think that Raphael could possibly return them. I got so frustrated with her at times for not being confident enough and just telling him how she felt! Also her quick temper brought out mine! I just loved every minute that they spent together. Both of these characters have fierce, loveable personalities that sparked a deep connection for me.

The storyline was spellbinding, engaging me from the first page. I loved that it was set in the future, on top of the paranormal aspect. Also, I loved that it is set in London, because I'm American, and I enjoy learning of landmarks and different types of slang :)
This story is exciting throughout, I never wanted to put it down. I became so invested in the characters, all of them! (well...maybe not Sasha)

I liked the writing style and dialogue. Sometimes there would be jumps between a few weeks time, and I really appreciated that because I never felt like there was any unimportant fillers.

The ending set my heart on fire! I am hoping and praying that this is not the last of Skye and Raphael. I WANT MORE!

A copy of this book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. So I have to be honest. There are some spoilers next, so you’ve been warned.
This book could be a fine read but there are some things that I can’t ignore. One of them is the word building. The situation the author describes is rather chaotic. There is no mention of a government but there is a police and a university… And what’s with the bubble breaks? That doesn’t make any sense! Skye is really annoying character. She is angry for more than half of the book and for the rest she’s whining about how she could never be good enough for Raphael or being jealous about the whole mess with Sasha (btw what a befitting name for a character like her). And, then, there’s Raphael the handsome, rich guy who could have a harem of his own but is deep down in love with Skye (something that only she couldn’t see for some reason) and who spends his nights protecting innocents and killing bad guys and of course there’s nothing wrong with that! For last, I left my biggest problem with this book that has to do with the ending. After Pearson attack Skye for the second time nothing happens! The reinforcements from China arrive and all we get is a short summary!
Well, all I see in this book is lost potential. If the author didn’t focus only on the romantic aspect this book could be really good.

Title: How the Wolf Lost Her Heart
Series: How the Wolf Lost Her Heart #1
Author: Sarah Brownlee
Overall Rating: 4 stars

A full series review of this book, and the sequel will be on my blog in the upcoming week.

Skye Archer has a special gift, one that dates back generations. However, many people see this as a curse, and she's determined to keep it a secret. Set in London, she meets the mysterious and alluring Raphael who shares this power with her. Together can they navigate the dystopian background of this criminal city?

I really enjoyed this book, Skye was a really relatable and likable main character. She was very down to earth and she didn't annoy me in the slightest, her and Raphael were a pretty awesome couple but the only thing that weirded me out was imagining a wolf and a tiger in a relationship...But other than that, they were good together.

The politics of this book was something else that really interested and intrigued me and I can't wait to see how it carries into the next book.

Remember to wait on the full review on my blog!

I was sent a copy of this book from the author for an honest review, and I would like to thank Sarah for the epic journey!

In the year 2012, an experiment was done on 42 people giving them the ability to shift into their spirit animal at will. Some of the subject were hunted down by the government but others survived and passed down their morphing genes to their children. How The Wolf Lost Her Heart is set in a dystopian London in the year 2217 . The city is overrun with thugs and anarchy rules the streets besides that of west London, which is owned and protected by the Renzo family. The story focuses on the protagonist, Skye Archer, a Morpher who's genes were passed down after skipping a few generations. She is not only a wolf at heart but can quite literally transform into a wolf at will, a power she would rather keep on the down-low.

Personally I really like Skye. She's emotional, bold, and hotheaded (I'm guessing having a wolf contained within her may have something to do with some of these) but overall she feels real. Like a living, breathing, imperfect human... errr well despite the fact that she is not entirely human. Often times she jumps to conclusions too fast and can get upset but her reasoning is still understandable and logical.

Raphael Renzo a man of royal blood, is a publically known Morpher with the ability to turn into a tiger. Although rich and famous he bears no snobby tones or prideful arrogance, rather, he is a loyal friend and pure hearted, if not a bit of a flirt. Raphael saves Skye when she is harassed by a group of thugs (well really she didn't need saving, or so she likes to say) which then starts a hesitant friendship between the two. This friendship then blooms into a jumble of confusing emotions as the two sort through their feelings for each other. I loved every confusing bit of it, and truly look forward to reading how their relationship grows in the upcoming sequel novel.

All the characters seemed to be very interesting, and I even enjoyed the dialogue with side characters, most of which are unique and fun. I especially liked reading the parts with the Renzo twins and also Skye's best friend Daphne. There is one thing that bothered me with the dialogue however, well really it was just one word. This is really a minor thing, but I couldn't help noticing the use of the word "erm" being used a bit too often for my taste.

The Pearson family who rule East London and all the thugs serve as the main antagonists of How The Wolf Lost Her Heart. Pearson's son proves himself a good villain with his sadistic psychopath characteristics. In my opinion the thugs, while threatening, should have had some work done to them in order to seem more real. For instance, (again this is just my personal idea) separating the thugs into their own gangs with their own names seems like a missed opportunity, because in reality 'thugs' aren't going to be happy being ruled under one command nor raping and pillaging by themselves. Another antagonist that I cannot forget to mention is the malicious and venomous Sasha. She is basically at Regina George level of bitchy-ness, and definitely could pass as a candidate for the spot of a modern Evil Queen.

The idea behind the whole story is really innovative and was sincerely a breath of fresh air after sifting through plenty of the same old dystopian novels. The way the dystopian setting presents itself is fascinating, although I wished Sarah went into a bit more detail with politics, history, and technology. i must admit, I did like the idea of 'bubble blowing' becoming a new addiction as well as the holographic Tag devices used to communicate. The idea of shifting into an animal has always been interesting to me ever since I was a kid (I still remember the time I convinced my younger step-siblings that I was a werewolf. Oh and of course, Animorphs was probably the one that started my interest in the matter) and I now know that I still find the concept intriguing. I really have not read any books like this, and I'm glad I gave it a read.

How The Wolf Lost Her Heart is a fantastic novel, and positively earns my recommendation. It seems like the sequel is going to be a bit more action packed, and I am so excited to give it my opinion.

4/4.5 Wonderful Stars!

Let me start off by saying that I LOOOVVEEE wolves! They are my favorite animal! So yes, reading this was an extreme treat for me.

The story follows Skye, who can transform into a white wolf, and Raphael, who can transform into a tiger.
There is obvious tension and chemistry between them, but Skye knows that there's a problem. He is way out of her league. Raphael is gorgeous, rich and popular. Hardly anyone knows who Skye is, let alone that she can morph into an animal at will. The fact that they both have this ability only draws them closer together, but Skye refuses to give in to her feelings. Instead, she finds herself pushing him away.

This is one of the problems I found in the story. It bothered me how snappy and emotional she was. I tried looking at it from Skye's point of view. Some terrible things have happened to her and I get that she's emotionally unstable... but sometimes her outbursts still seemed like too much.
The only other problem was that I hated how fast the book moved. I read it so quickly... but even if it was a longer book in length, the story itself was still very fast paced.

"...the two great beasts lay, shattered, tangled in the fur of their four-legged bodies and lost in the purest essence of their love."

I overall loved this story. The characters were awesome. Even smaller characters like Daphne, or Raphael's brothers, stole my heart. Sarah describes their personalities so well. I loved all their traits and the way they look.
The imagery in this book was phenomenal. I saw everything that the characters saw, and felt everything that they felt. You know a book is good when what you're reading becomes a movie in your head!
This book was written really well! Once you get into it you'll find it hard to stop! It was everything that I had hoped it to be. Sarah creates a beautiful story of love, action and sadness that will capture your heart.

"I call it 'How The Tiger Lost His Heart'" Raphael told her.
"I should have painted one for you too, about how the wolf lost hers." She smiled at him.

This is probably one of the best YA novels I have ever read.

Brownlee truly has a gift with words, and created a captivating original novel. I honestly thought I had read it all when it came to the paranormal genre, but I was wrong.

The world building in the novel was phenomenal and truly made you feel like you were living in Skye's world, and what a fascinating world it was. I also loved that for once the morphing/were world was not based on being bitten or a hereditary trait, but resulted from a science experiment. I was fascinated with how the animal they got was based on what spirit animal they were.
I hope in the next book were learn how Skye's ancetors' spirit animals were determined based off the test they took. Really I just want to learn more about how Skye and Raphael's ancestors were involved, and what happened with that whole situation.

I enjoyed Skye and Raphael's relationship, even though at times I got a little frustrated with their immaturity. But in all fairness they are very young, and I think that is how a normal guy and girl in their age group would have realistically behaved. And I gotta say I enjoyed the ups and downs in their relationship, it just felt realistic. I adored the scenes were they would run together and their animals would nuzzle and play, it was just too cute and you could feel the bond between them. And OMG the secret room, that was just about the sweetest thing EVER.

The only characters that I didn't like were Daphne and Skye's mom. They both drove me nuts with the constant hounding about Raphael or whatever was going on in Skye's life. I just wanted to tell them to back off and shut up. Also, I thought they were both overly enthusiastic.

I was actually really surprised how much I liked this book since most YA novels drive me crazy or frustrate me. Brownlee really did an amazing job at capturing their youth without making them too immature, or making you want more from their relationship. The slightly steamy scene was handled perfectly and gave you just enough so you weren't let down. It was the perfect balance between YA and PNR for me.

I really cannot wait for the next book in this series to see what happens during the war between the East and West. Plus I just want to see what Skye and Raphael are up to, and maybe what the twins are up to as well.

I received this book for an honest review.

I really wanted to love this book. It has a lot of things I like in a book: shapeshifters, a dystopian society, romance. It has plenty of potential but in my opinion it also has a few flaws. There needs to be more world building. When I read a book I like to get immersed in the world that I’m reading about. I couldn’t do that here. How did this world get to be a dystopian society? How exactly does the government work? More backstory on the world and the gangs would have went a long way to rounding out the story. I could have ignored this except I hated Skye. She was constantly jumping to conclusions and creating unnecessary drama. She came off as insecure and immature. She did have a few good qualities. I liked that she wanted to help people against the gangs, but it wasn’t enough to offset the rest of her personality.

As far as the romance aspect, I had a hard time believing their love story. It wasn’t the insta-love that bothered me. It was Skye’s treatment of Raph. She was rude and dismissive of him so I didn’t understand what he saw in her.

I love the idea of a dystopian London society but I needed more for me to love the book.

I received this book in an exchange for an honest review

I have to admit, I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I have read many wolf books, and more or less they contain the same plot. Boy! was I ever glad to be disappointed. This book was nothing like I expected it to be. I loved the sizzling chemistry between Raphael and Skye and their growing romance. Some of the events that take place by the thugs is gruesome and despicable, hard to imagine that humans are even capable of such enormity. Nevertheless, this book carried a good message by remaining hope even in difficult times and aspiring what you want to be and believe in. I found Lord Renzo to be a truly remarkable character who is not only a caring, loving father but also cares for the well being of the human population. I cannot wait for Pearson and gang to come down!

Overall, a truly great read. I would recommend this book

Warm regards for the author for giving me this book to review!:)

Such a cute book, I would say more for teens but I very much enjoyed the book! It had elements of love, not just of a person but of ones self. The struggles of anger and how to deal and not to let it get the best of you. The book tells a story of a girl and her struggles as being a morpher on top of being a teen/adult. She is driven, stubborn, and has a heart of gold. She Falls for the handsome rich boy who also is a morpher and they go through a journey/connection unlike most, in a time when there is chaos all around and innocents are in the path of destruction, they both find themselves as they try to also fight for others who are helpless.

Oh. My. Lanta.

Skye is a morpher that can change into a wolf at will. In her world there is a civil war going on and people are dying everyday. They name of the game is to blend in, to be the same as everyone else so that you can survive. The Pearson gang are the thugs of her town they rape and pillage the town doing whatever damage they please, whenever they please. Then Renzo family activity to whatever they can whenever they can to thwart them, although one Renzo doesn't see the efforts as enough. That Renzo is Ralph. Ralph is also a morpher that can change at will, however he can change into a tiger. Ralph's mission in life is to stop the Pearson thugs. In the beginning of the story he stops the Pearson thugs from hurting Skye, to which Skye is to stubborn to admit that she even needed help. From morphing together and going on runs to sitting and talking about being a morpher Skye and Ralph become friends after a few attempts due to Skyes stubbornness. Through many obstacles and fights Skye and Ralph admit to falling in love with one another.

This book had me addicted from the very beginning and I absolutely couldn't put it down. I was instantly drawn to the characters and felt connected to them. My only regret was there wasn't more to read. This was a very well written story that kept me on my toes.

In a future London that would be strange to you and me because it is missing all the things that we take comfort in and the security of police is a city overran by thugs who terrorize and rob it’s citizens. One night these thugs pick the wrong girl to terrorize. Right as Skye Archer is ready to morph into a wolf and tear these guys apart, a handsome young man that the thugs refer to as Renzo comes to her rescue. During the back and too banter between the head thug and Renzo Skye learns that Renzo is also a Morpher. She agrees to have tea with him and get to know him better, becoming more curious about him as she finds a picture of her great-great grandmother and a boy that looks a lot like Renzo. Used to being a lone wolf Skye has a hard time accepting the friendship that Renzo is offering. She keeps him at a distance due to feelings that she is not familiar with. Will Skye allow Renzo to love her or will she let her pride stand in the way of the love she wants.

The number one thing that stood out in this book to me was that it started with some suck you in action! I hate reading a book that has a slow build, and have been known to read them more slowly or never finishing them at all. Chapter One tells how the Morphers came to be but does not go into so much detail that it is boring to read. This was a great story that kept me wondering what happen next. Skye’s pride drives me nuts and makes me want to go into the book and shake some sense into her! I would love to read a second book to find out what happens during and after the war. I have a friend that always suggest shifter books but have never bothered to try them because they never seemed to spark my interest. I’m happy I read this one and will be looking for the second book to this and more by this author.

When I sat down to read this book I intended to read it for a few hours and then to do other things. But it was easy to read and interesting, so I just kept reading for a little bit more. That "little" lasted enough for me to read most of the book. And then I just wanted to keep reading till the end. I ended up reading late into the night. Even though I do that rarely recently. And it is one of the stories that stayed with me after I've finished reading. I just wanted to read again my favorite part, and as I kept thinking about it, I found there were many favorite parts, and even whole book would be worth reading one more time.

There was intriguing beginning from the first sentence. It got me interested in the story happening at the moment and in the beginnings of it. The main character Skye was easy to like and to relate to for me. She is strong, having her own opinion, stubborn, having her flaws too, but they made her even more likeable. I cared for her, and I could easily feel her emotions. I kept going up and down along with her. I enjoyed reading about the relationships between the characters. And I was interested to know the story of their ancestors too. It was beautiful story. Sometimes it just melted my heart. There were fun moments, nice moments, emotional moments and beautiful moments. There was interesting and important topic/question too, if you choose to be safe and ignore bad things happening around, or to be brave and stand up for what's right. This quote I found quite powerful and worth to mention "Ability or not, was there ever an excuse not to do the right thing?"

There were some sentences, where it was written a little bit too straightforward about the reasons behind behavior and feelings of the character. I would have liked it given in a little bit more subtle way, to find out these reasons myself, to figure them out, to read them between the lines.

But all in all, I enjoyed this story a lot, and I'm interested to read next story and to know more about the future of the characters I care about.

P. S. The cover is nice too.

I was asked to read How the Wolf Lost Her Heart in exchange for an honest review. Well, I honestly loved it. Skye is one of those characters almost everyone can relate to; she tough, yet emotional; independent, yet the perfect girlfriend material; and confident yet, not so confident.

Set in a future where law is non-existent, bought or crooked. Skye and her mom live together in their long time family home, in spite of the crime. Skye, being a wolf-shifter, can take care of herself with no problem, yet her mother is still a bit over protective and worries about her, a lot. As a mom, I can sympathize with her, especially after knowing how she lost her husband, Skye’s dad.

The story really gets started when Skye is mugged while walking home. Of course she immediately prepares to defend herself; her only concern is, though she only wants to scare them off, she may end up killing the thugs. That’s funny. This is when Raphael shows up to play the hero and scares the criminals off. This is when Skye and Raphael first meet; let’s just say, first impressions aren’t always the best.

After this, the relationship roller-coaster ride begins. Their love-hate relationship brings everything to the story. You love, hate, laugh, sympathize with, and you may even start yelling at the book. No, I NEVER do that, ha ha. There are so many surprising twists; How the Wolf Lost Her Heart is far from predictable.

The writing was smooth, the story was fun, and the imagery was realistic. The only thing that took away from the story was the editing; there were mistakes throughout the books, as well as, several in the most inconvenient places. Overall, the book was great and I loved it, so I feel confident with a 4 Boundless star rating....Beth
