Thank you to Red Tower Books for the gifted ARC!
I am a BIG Shanora Williams thriller fan, and now that I've started getting into romantasy, I was so excited to hear she had a debut book in the genre. It was even MORE exciting to receive a fun PR box for this book.
Unsurprisingly, Williams delivered another banger. I loved the world she built, and all the characters were very well-developed. I grew particularly attached to Algar and Zephra (IYKYK).
The tension between our two main characters was *chefs kiss*, and the spicy scenes were spicingggg. I loved everything about Zaira and Thane.
The CLIFFHANGER though!!! I am so excited that it indicates there will likely be another book in this series, but that was a BRUTAL way to end the book!
If you are a fan of the romantasy genre, I HIGHLY recommend Mayhem and the Mortal. Pub date: March 17.

I love a good quest fantasy, and this one absolutely delivered. The world felt rich and dangerous, filled with some of the coolest beasts and unique creatures I’ve read about in a while. Shanora Williams created a setting that felt vivid and alive, and it made the journey feel even more immersive.
The story follows Zaira, who sets out on a dangerous mission to save her sister from a soul-devouring curse. To do it, she hires Thane Valkor to guide her across the deadly Shallows which is place full of shifting paths, ruined magic, and terrifying creatures. The stakes are high from the start, and the pacing kept me turning pages the entire time.
I really loved Zaira as a main character. She’s resilient, determined, and refuses to give up even when everything seems stacked against her. Watching her navigate this brutal world was one of my favorite parts of the story.
The romance is a slow burn, but the tension between Zaira and Thane is so good. Their dynamic adds another layer to the story without taking away from the adventure and danger of the quest.
Overall, this was such a fun read it was fast paced, never boring, and packed with tension and adventure. If you enjoy quest-driven fantasy with dangerous journeys, unique creatures, and a slow-burn romance, this one is definitely worth picking up.

This book will leave you eager to know what happens next by the end. This book is an adventure/traveling book. It starts off either the fmc journeying to find and save her sister. Along the way she meets the mmc who is very rebellious and mysterious and each on their own reasons team up for this mission. I liked ghe world I think it was creative and involved a variety of creatures, magic systems and interesting world building. I really liked the journey plot/sequence and how the MCs met more characters on the way that later became found family. This book has intrigue, adventure, danger, betrayal, curses and so on. The romance was full of tension and even though the mmc had to grow on me due to his overly grumpy vibes I was rooting for them to get together. There are a few steamy scenes with lots of chemistry and some spice. The last like 20 percent of the book had a lot of movement in the sister plot which set up the next book quite well. I definitely recommend this book for my romantasy lovers, thanks to Red Tower and this author for the arc!

What an adventure! 😅 Mayhem and the Mortal definitely has its moments of chaos! If you are a reader of Shanora Williams, her humor is there even in this romantasy!
I wasn't sure what the outcome of Zaira picking Thane, who's a dark assassin, as her travel partner would be. While I was rooting for the crew to make it to their final destination, there were some moments I was like, "Oh no! Here's the end!" Each stop on their journey offers something different & unexpected. That alone kept me invested!
The world building of Thelanor & the magic system are easy to understand. The amounts of romance and fantasy were balanced where one doesn't overshadow the other. The pacing overall was great!
Let's talk about Thane 🩷.. my new shadow daddy! I love a multi layered, mysterious man who isn't afraid to fight for what he wants! I enjoyed trying to figure him out!

I want to thank the author and Entangled Publishing for the ARC and PR box for this book! It’s my first novel by Shanora Williams and I can’t wait for more.
This book drew me in on page one. The world building, character development, action pack scenes, and some of the greatest plot twists you don’t see coming keep you invested in Zaira’s mission to save her cursed sister from death. There were so many moments where I was like “are you kidding me” and keep turning the pages.
I hope to learn more about the side characters because they bought so much to the story: Humor, complicated backstories, joy, and frustration.
Zaira and Thane bring this energy that has you rooting for them to overcome the circumstances that brought them together. The push and pull with the will they or won’t they angst… undeniable chemistry that leaves you questioning if someone showing up and holding space with you is enough to change your guarded heart.

This book came on a journey with me. From two trips, one event, trains, restaurants, car rides to night time wind-down reading, Mayhem and the Mortal has been through it all with me.
I have read this book in nearly any social situation you can think up of. Despite it being a two week journey I took with this book—simply because I was so busy, not anything to do with the book—I was somehow always in touch with it. Even when I went through a small slump (that zi often experience from travelling, being so busy and exhausted) I knew I was going to be perfectly fine because Shanora Williams’ book was waiting for me.
MatM begins in a way that draws you in immediately. I love books like this as much as I love books that let me unravel them to reveal the treasure they hide. Strangely … now that I think about it, this book might just be a bit of both. It was quick to draw you in, even while it slowly unveils the true depth of its story with the turn of every page.
The writing is usually the first aspect of any book that I’m quick to notice. It usually shapes my experience with, and influences my journey through, the book. Williams’ writing was a breeze for me. I stepped right into the metaphorical waters of her writing and was happy to stay in there until the end. The temperature was perfect, the night was cool, the place was mine and the time was abundant. *floats in the magical feeling created by Willaims*

The book was based in a fantastical world, but somehow the writing felt like it was something that I would encounter in a contemporary novel, and I mean this as a compliment! There was something about it that made it feel more real than a fantasy book typically would and I enjoyed that aspect of the book very much.
The world in this book is wonderfully different even while still being mildly familiar. There are some themes to it we may have heard of, or seen, in other stories, movies or books before. But the author has taken them and made them something that has never been seen before—as far as I know. The world building does take awhile to expand and when it does, it does so in a way that’s intertwined with one of the main character’s life. It’s a bit easy to miss out on one while focusing on the other, so do ensure you’re taking in both as you read.
The pace was extremely even for the most part, save for a small portion between the 60-70% where I felt a mild dip in the rhythm of the story. Usually when this happens, it means the author is building to something, adding in details, creating tension and marking the beginning of a new chapter in the MC’s life and I do think that’s what was happening in MatM too. It also allows the readers to feel a mild lull before the storm hits. And it does. Believe me.
The characters are the backbone of any book, in any story. Mayhem and the Mortal is no exception. The connections made in this book are extremely interesting! It’s a found family trope but it’s so, so different at the same time. There’s one line in the book (that I’ve quoted above) that perfectly describes the connections in this story. You love every single one of them but there’s so much more to see, so much more they need to do before they become a true family. But we see glimpses of the potential they have to be and become something very special. I can’t wait to see how they grow together. Or if they do.
The plot of the book is established pretty early in the story, however, I feel that what we see in this book is simply the very first steps that we’ve taken in Williams’ world and there is a lot more to unpack and witness. If I’m not wrong, book two, is likely going to be a lot darker and a lot more serious than this.
Around 50% or so into the book, I remember feeling my heart break. This book is here for you to feel everything. Be prepared for it.

Dear Shanora Williams,
I would like to start off by saying thank you. Thank you for introducing me to black romantic fantasy. I’ll just be honest and admit that I didn’t know it existed. I could not get enough of Mayhem and the Mortal. I’m definitely going to have to check out your other fantasy and romance books.
Now, as I mentioned, I didn’t know black romantic fantasy was a thing, and that’s what initially drew me to Mayhem and the Mortal. The first line of books are important, and I was definitely drawn to the story because of your first line. You had me wondering what it meant and what was going to happen. The first meeting between Zaira Quinlocke and Thane Valkor was so funny that I couldn’t stop the cackle that came out of me. Then I proceeded to feel a little awkward on Zaira’s behalf. But it was definitely funny.
I loved that you wrote a fantasy romance where the heroine was just a girl. You didn’t give her fighting skills, extraordinary powers, or have her tasked with saving her realm. Zaira is just a mortal baker with the purest of trusting hearts, who simply wants to save her cursed older sister, Analla. Your hero Thane. Oh. This man has being a bassbowl down to a tee. But I love that about him. While he is a sorcerer and a highly-skilled assassin, I think actually taking someone’s life weighs on him. Unlike others, he doesn’t do it for fun. Thane is a troubled soul, and the backstory you’ve written for him is sad, tragic, and touching. Thane is all brooding and dark, whereas Zaira is light and airy, a ray of sunshine.
I also loved the secondary cast of characters you surrounded Zaira and Thane with. Like Zaira and Thane, these characters own a piece of my heart.
You did a wonderful job of making this an adventurous story with dangerous moments, while making it fun, with banter between this mismatched group of characters. The fact that along the way they unknowingly became a found family was truly special. Thane and Zaira have this magnetic pull between them. I knew the book was supposed to be spicy, but wow. That third-hand scene was something. Oh my god. You gave Zaira glasses! The fact that you made her have the idiosyncrasy of actually having glass made me feel seen.
In case I wasn't clear before, I loved Mayhem and the Mortal. The last sentence. Oh. That last sentence got me. I’m excited that this is the first book in a trilogy. I am going to be anxiously waiting for news of the sequel. I really think this series has the potential to be one of my favorite series. I’m sure this story is going to live rent-free in my mind for years to come.

Shanora Williams - Mayhem and the Mortals // Thank you Valentine PR for the ARC!
Zaira’s sister is cursed by an evil sorcerer and the only way to save her life is to travel through the dangerous Shallows and retrieve a special stone. Since she’s only a mortal, she pays Thane Valkor to accompany and protect her. It’s only afterwards she finds out he’s an outlawed assassin sorcerer, but then it’s already to late to back away from the mission and the feelings.
Mayhem and the Mortal is what I’d call a cozy, adventurous fantasy with a romantic subplot. The stakes are never too high and there’s always a more cozy vibe despite all the murders and slayings Thane stands behind. I think it’s much do to the fun, easy banter between the characters. And the fact that our heroine is kindness impersonated. She tries to see the goodness in everyone and wants to help and save every bestial, human or sorcerer she encounters. As their travel moves along Zaira and Thane gathers a ragtag team that’s both brave, skilled in weaponry and clever. Together they overcome several challenges but they never loose their spirit or end goal.
The romance between Thane and Zaira was a slow burn, spicy affaire. Thane was very territorial but also sweet and attentive. He made sure she ate, he mended her glasses and protected her at all costs. I think that might be a new favorite micro trope of mine, the MMC fixing the FMC’s broken glasses. Might someone please erase all of the scratches on mine as well? It was a push and pull kind of romance, because Thane was closed off and didn’t want to give too much of himself. Zaira wanted to be the one to save him, but he didn’t want saving. When they got together it was hot and heavy but sweet and caring.

There was never any real danger or tension that kept me on edge. Very low stakes. The world building was simple but good and the characters well fleshed out. Zaira wanted to be the one to save him, but he didn’t want saving. When they got together it was hot and heavy but sweet and caring.
I liked the short chapters and the even pace of the book. The adventure was my favorite part but I also found the challenges they encountered very easily solved. There was never any real danger or tension that kept me on edge. Very low stakes. The world building was simple but good and the characters well fleshed out. I liked the found family and the banter between them. It was predictable at times, but I liked our heroine and her clever solutions at the end. The book ended on a small cliffhanger, but luckily not one that leaves you in a slump for days. All in all an enjoyable fantasy!

Honestly, this is why I love fantasy and why especially I love Shanora’s fantasy. This world she built and the descriptions of the beastials was everything. On top of that the tension between Zaira and Thane did its thing and although the two do get down this isn’t the spiciest so keep that in mind
With the way I was able to picture everything and feel what each character was going through this was an easy 5 star for me
If you’re looking for an immersive romantasy with adventure and flawed but lovable characters then add this to your tbr. I love this ragtag group and can’t wait to see more

One mission. One curse. No escape.
Now, if that doesn't sound like a good time, I don't know what does. 😉
I have found myself reading more and more Romantasy's recently, and I'm loving it. I always prefered watching them in the movies or on TV rather than reading them, and I honestly don't know why, it could be because I rarely had time to sit and read one book that was over five hundred pages, like this one, because of my schedule, but now I don't mind slowing down and having it take longer to finish a book than it use to. Especially if I'm connecting with the characters and the wonderful fantasy world the author has created for us. In MAYHEM AND THE MORTAL, we have four loveable characters that are so different from one another, but they all have the same goal, each for a different reason, but that doesn't matter in their quest to get to The Shallows.
Zaira is in desperate need to save her sister, Analla, from a Dark Sorcerer, Seferin, who has put a curse on her and is slowly draining the life out of her. Her only hope is to hire a guide to help her make it to The Temple of Elphar, which is located in The Shallows, a place where no one has ever returned, and back alive. The only problem she has is that no one is willing to help, that is, until she meets Thane Valkor, a sorcerer, an assassin, and a huge walking red flag. I LOVE the bickering between these two characters. Thane is a character everyone is afraid of and clearly stays away from, but Zaira has no filter when it comes to him and sometimes says things she should probably keep to herself at times. But the girl does have a soft heart and cares for everyone, even the morally grey assassin.
I love the chemistry between Thane and Zaira, and the bonds that they make with Algar and his cute little pink dragon sidekick, Zephra, a childhood friend from Thane's past, as well as a manator, Rynthea, both of whom accompany them on their quest to The Shallows. Along the way, they are dealt with all sorts of obstacles that they must defeat, or they themselves will be the ones who die. Shanora's writing had me captivated, and I was holding my breath each time they found themselves in trouble. This little found family group of four all had each other's backs, but don't let that fool you; there were a ton of secrets and lies between them, too.
This was my first venture into Shanora Williams' fantasy world, and I'm here to stay. With this ending, I know there has to be more to come, and I cannot wait for it. I also checked out her backlist and was happy to see she has many more books, both fantasy and contemporary, for me to check out while I'm waiting.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy Romantasy, Grumpy/Sunshine Romances, Found Family Romances, or anyone looking for a good book to lose themselves in for a while.

What an adventure this was! Mayhem and the Mortal completely pulled me in from the very first page and did not let go…I literally devoured this book in a day.
This story follows Zaira, a sunshine FMC willing to risk everything to save her sister, and Thane… a dark, mysterious assassin who quickly became my newest shadow daddy obsession. Their dynamic? Absolute perfection. The grumpy/sunshine energy, the tension, the banter, and the chemistry all hit exactly the way I needed it to.
The journey itself was one of my favorite parts. Each stop along the way brought something new, unexpected, and sometimes chaotic, in the best way. I found myself fully invested in their mission, constantly wondering what would happen next and genuinely worried for the characters at times.
The world-building and magic system were easy to follow while still feeling rich and immersive, and I really appreciated how well-balanced the fantasy and romance elements were. Neither overshadowed the other, which made the story feel complete and satisfying.
And can we talk about the found family? Because that trope was done so well here. Every character felt like they had a purpose, and watching them come together and form bonds throughout the journey was one of the most rewarding parts of the book.
Thane… sir. 🖤 I love a morally gray, layered, mysterious man, and he delivered. Trying to figure him out while also falling for him? 10/10 experience.
Also, that ending?! The last pages completely caught me off guard, and I’m going to need more immediately.

When I say I absolutely devoured this book in 1 day, please know how literally I mean it. I have covid. My fever is up and down and I’m racked win chills and aches. THIS book got me through the last 24 hours of isolation and it was SO good.
Mortal baker, do-gooder and archetypal sunshine Zaira lives a simple but happy life …. Until her sister is imprisoned and cursed by an evil sorcerer to die in a month. Desperate to free her, Zaira hires grumpy shadow daddy sorcerer assassin to guide her on a perilous quest to retrieve a magical item. Along the way, they assemble a team of friends and companions.
Magical quest with a grumpy/sunshine mortal/shadow daddy combo? Absolutely. I loved the chemistry between these two. There’s friction and banter and steamy spicy dirty talk. And Zaira may be a sunshine, but she’s also a boss lady - she lets Thane know what she wants and she is so very smart and quick witted (both in and out of the bedroom).
The found family aspect is so strong throughout the story, and that’s because the world building is so well done. This is a world with a violent history that has affected all of our characters, making them each alone in different ways. They bond during their journey to the Shallows in a way that is demonstrably enduring.
And that ending?!?! When I say that the last 2 pages threw me for a loop, I’m not exagerrating.

From the moment Thane and Zaira cross paths in a tavern, I was completely drawn in. Zaira needs Thane’s help to save her sister, and their journey is anything but simple. Along the way, she learns that Thane isn’t just any ordinary sorcerer, but someone far more dangerous, vicious and has a dark backstory.
Then, just when you think it’s only about them, other characters start joining the journey. Each one has their own personality and skills, and even the little sidekick add so much fun. What starts as a mission quickly turns into an adventure full of excitement, surprises, and moments that kept me glued to the pages.
I also loved how the book shows Zaira’s emotions and fears. Her doubts, worries, and the real anxiety of failing felt so real and relatable.. just as any normal person would react when facing life-or-death situations.
The writing is easy to follow, with clear and detailed descriptions. I could picture every scene and character, including the half-human, half-beast mythical creatures, which were incredibly done well. I also enjoyed the short chapters.. they made the story feel like it flew by, and I was turning pages without even realizing it. However, I took off one star because some parts of the writing and dialogue felt a bit YA-ish, though the story itself is clearly an adult read.

This one didn’t do it for me. It has all of the things you’d expect in a fantasy. A quest. A relic. Some battle along the way. A broody morally grey MMC. A kind and naive FMC. One bed trope. But to me it just felt like words on paper. I was bored. Even with all the action going on, I felt no excitement while reading it. Very low stakes and I never felt on edge until the very end. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the main characters. Sometimes the dialogue also felt very modern. I did like the characters and featured creatures we get to meet along the way. Love that the fmc wears glasses. Thane was Mr. Get It Done. He was going to protect Zaira at all costs. Zaira was so naive. Omg. The plot twist did get me at the end. The last 10% was the best part of the book. This technically doesn’t end with a HEA.
I wish there was a glossary.

Shanora did it again with another romantasy hit! Mayhem & the Mortal was soooo good and so much fun to read! I never understood the term “shadow daddy” until I met Thane, and now I get it🤣.
I loved every second of Thane and Zaira’s quest. Everything from their chemistry to the entire crew (heeey little Zephra) had a smile on my face. The world building was developed well. I loved how diverse the various characters and kingdoms were throughout Thelanor. Each stage of their journey was distinct, and the author did a great job of pulling you further into the story as the group traveled towards their end goal.
This is my fourth romantasy read from this author, and I hope she keeps writing them! They are just as fun to read as her contemporary books, just with the added excitement that comes with the romantasy genre. Highly recommend picking this one up!

Mayhem and the Mortal is a such fun read! It’s a cozy (yet chaotic) romantasy packed with adventure, a quest, and found family vibes. Zaira is a sunshine-y mortal determined to save her cursed sister and her solution? Hire a deadly assassin.
Thane is broody, mysterious, and reluctant to aid Zaira. He might be grumpy but he does quiet caretaking of Zaira, which I LOVED. It’s the small things, right?! On their journey, their duo quickly turns into a full motley crew, picking up allies along the way. The romance is a slow burn and the tension is sooo good between them.
If you love grumpy x sunshine, found family, and a quest that feels cozy yet chaotic, Mayhem and the Mortal is for you!

From the first pages, Shanora Williams creates a world that feels dangerous, magnetic and unpredictable. There is a restless energy running beneath the surface of the story, as if something powerful is always waiting just out of sight. That atmosphere alone makes it difficult to step away from the pages.
The pacing unfolds deliberately, allowing the tension to build layer by layer. Instead of rushing toward dramatic moments, the story lets them simmer. Mayhem and the Mortal hooked me and refused to let go. Shanora Williams makes her worlds feel real and vivid without drowning you in details, which I really appreciate. This story especially also gives this constant sense that something could go wrong at any second, and I loved that edge.
Zaira’s motivation really worked for me. You can feel how badly she wants to save her sister, and it makes some of her more questionable choices easier to go along with. Like hiring Thane Valkor in the first place … not the safest decision, let’s be honest, but it made things so much more interesting. The second they entered the Shallows, I had that quiet feeling of “this is going to get messy,” and it absolutely did. Every time things started to settle, something else came in and made it more complicated.
The tension between Zaira and Thane is a slow build, but in a good way. It kind of simmers in the background until it suddenly doesn’t. The romance adds just enough heat without taking over everything else, and the spice definitely delivers. Thane was easily one of the highlights for me. He’s guarded, a bit (a lot?) dangerous, and clearly not telling the whole truth, which made him frustrating and fun to read in equal measure.
The found family aspect was truly beautiful. It didn’t feel forced, just people slowly coming together over time. By the end, I cared about all of them more than I thought I would. Especially Algar and Zephra … yeah, I got attached.
Now here’s to hoping there will be more of this world. The ending definitely gives me hope. I need more of this type of chaotic adventure!

Such a fun read
This book was so fun to read. I loved the banter, I loved the adventure and I loved the grumpy MMC.
This book was more of a cozy read than a high fantasy book though.
Zaira takes on a dangerous quest with a sorcerer assassin and two other unexpected allies to save her sister from a soul devouring curse. Zaira optimism and good hearted nature leads her to trust easily and walk in to dangers that her sheltered life couldn’t have prepared her for but despite it all she dives in head first all for the sake of love and family.
In the beginning Zaira and her naivety annoyed me. I was like girl why do you keep walking right into dangerous situations that you’ve been already warned not to? Eventually she did grow on me though. I loved how brave and kind she was.
Thane was definitely an intriguing character. He came with secrets and everything that would allure you to him against your better judgment. I hated how everybody seem to have a prejudice against him just because he was a sorcerer though. At first glance everyone they encountered saw him as a threat even if he had no intentions of causing any harm. He was such a scarred soul but I loved him. I love how protective he was of Zaira. When he says “she’s not yours to take.” I swooned ! His shadow tricks was also the highlight of the book.
Rynthea, Algar , zephar were great additions to the crew. I loved Rynthea’s fierceness and Algar’s humor.
The quest was definitely a thrill especially when it got to the shallows part. All the adventures were exciting and you witness each character’s growth a little.
I do wish some terms were explained though. What is buffers? The term was used a lot but I never got what it meant.
Overall this was a fun fast paced read ! I had no idea there would be a sequel so that cliffhanger threw me for a loop but I still enjoyed the story nonetheless.

Mayhem and the Mortal follows Zaira Quinlocke as she embarks on a journey to obtain a magical item to save her sister from a soul-devouring curse with Thane, a sorcerer-assassin whose name clears rooms.
The book had me hooked from the very beginning and had absolutely no problem keeping my attention throughout its entirety. The book’s vibe is beautifully balanced between the seriousness of the plot while also maintaining a lighthearted feel with moments of levity.
Zaira’s fierce love and loyalty to her sister and her desire to help others feels truly genuine and makes her a loveable and relatable main character. Thane’s grumpiness and cynical nature is the perfect counter to Zaira and it lends to truly amazing banter between the two as well as some entertaining moments where their natures clash. I love watching them develop both individually and together.
The side characters are just as well developed and I love the found family that develops as the book progresses. They are just as entertaining as Zaira and Thane.
While the events of the book take place over the course of perhaps a few weeks, it is well paced and easy to follow along. The character’s struggles and challenges throughout the book feel very real and relatable and I empathized with all of them throughout the book.
I sincerely hope that there is more in this world as I would love to see more of Zaira and Thane in the future.

Comedic Romantasy!
This is an ARC review. I want to thank Shanora Williams and Red Tower Books for allowing me the chance to receive this physical book before release day! I’ve NEVER read a comedic romantasy and realized there is a NEED in the literary world for more books like this!
Zaira Quinlocke will do anything to get to Temple of Elphar in The Shallows to save her sister from an evil sorcerer named Seferin. He truly is just awful! She is so determined she recruits a stranger named Thane Valkor to assist. This stranger has MANY secrets. And somehow has even more people trying to kill him!
Zaira quickly becomes Thane’s Sweet One and I am OBSESSED with that name. Well that is until her nickname has an upgrade and I pray that they are able to see stay in the light through the next phase of their journey. Their love journey for sure is not a linear line to love but each time they save each other (mostly Thane doing the physical saving) they were drawn more and more to each other!
side character shoutout: Algar (Zephra) & Rynthea the minotaur have become more and more like family to me throughout this journey. This very battle filled and intense journey! I have LOVED watching them have each others back and be each others support system. Even if it’s slightly reluctant.

This story starts off immediately getting into it which I always love & were explained the plot right away. Zaria’s sister Annalla has been cursed by an evil sorcerer, leaving her only 30 days to live. Zaira enlists the help of a sorcerer/assassin, Thane, to be her protector while on a journey to find stones that could possibly save her sister. You instantly connect with Zaira because you can feel how much she loves her sister & how important it is for her to go on this journey.
Thane sounds like the ultimate grump who hates everybody & everything, but he was a fierce protector & I really enjoyed reading his & Zairas relationship.
Along the way we meet a few characters: Algar, Rynthea & the cutie Zaphar. We watch the relationship & bonds form between them as well as Zaira & Thane as they make it through all the different realms.
The character development & flow of the story was *chefs kiss*. It was a slow burn which I’m not too much of a fan of but there was so much happening beforehand that I wasn’t too bothered by it.
Truthfully Shanora Williams is probably getting me into Romantasy era moving forward. This book honestly had everything I needed & love in a story. The only thing I’m sad about is that I now have to wait for the next book because that cliffhanger!
