Typical Sam Archer thriller from Tom Barber. Fast moving story without much suspense. No lack of action, however.

Following on from the last two books of the series, I marvel at just how much trouble Sam Archer can get himself and others involved with. Helping a young lady in a car park results in him being hurt and his partner, Alice Vargas ending up in hospital. Having to already face an inquiry into his previous conduct, things only get worse when a senior officer in the NYPD appears to have it in for Sam, and provokes Sam into hitting him. To add to all of this, Sam’s actions have led all his friends into something much bigger than they could possibly have imagined. The plot is quite complex, the pace is unremitting, the forces involved extremely deadly, with a unique method of disposing of bodies just one of the horrors to be faced.
All the characters in I the series are so well developed by now that it is no wonder that they all pull for each other. A very readable novel, part of a series that are all attention grabbing. Highly recommended, especially as I have just acquired the next in the series totally free via Bookbub!

This is another winner in the series. The story grabs you right from the start as it leads off with the murder of a high price escort in which Sam and Alice become unwilling participants. When the murder is occurring, Sam has just gotten off a high speed case and were stopping to pick up some wine to wind down. During this murder, Sam and Alice both a shot out and Alice's wounds have her kept at a hospital for a long period. Sam was wearing a bulletproof vest so he was not incapacitated.
During the time after the shooting, Sam in placed on suspension and winds up be arrested later and is indirectly sent to Rikers where he is almost killed. After Sam is released, the team gets involved in the Escort murder which was poreviously closed by the Homicide team. During their review, they discovered that beside the murdered escort, there were 11 other girls who were also a party to the investigation and who had gone missing.
The action in the story just intensified with the addition of the Russian Mafia who began targeting the team because they thought they were involved with the disappearance of some of the Mafia members earlier. Also at the same time, there was a team of three who were the real party responsible for the disappearances and who were also involved with Alice's murder.
After many battles, Sam made a discovery and was able to ultimately conclude the case with assistance from other team mates at a warehouse on the docks. The story ends with Sam being cleared of the incident which caused his suspension.
The ending of this story blew my mind. If you want to find out who all of the characters associated with this story and what in the ending was so surprising, then you need to read this. This is defimitely a winner in the Sam Archer series of stories.

I am getting too old for these new style stories that take violence way beyond any view of normalcy in today's world. I can remember when Micky Splain was considered violent or way to much sex but is pretty tame stuff when compared to Sam Archer.
Police detectives do not run around every day with guns blazing at every criminal they encounter and police departments that can have petty personal conflicts do not have cases where the department hierarchy goes about wiping out a large portion of their best detectives. I am not saying that police work in large urban forces is without a certain amount of wrongdoing and law violating it just never reaches Archers take.
I prefer stories that have unique plots requiring a certain amount of intelligence and procedure to detect and arrest the evildoers, the officers can be real-life like people who have the everyday problems we all suffer through. Stories that have intelligent officers and realistic contact with criminal perpetrators.

Sam Archer is on a train to DC; a drunk is causing a commotion and bothering a lady on the train, so Sam asks him politely a few times to sit down. The drunk doesn’t listen to reason and he starts attacking Sam. Sam subdued the man and the next thing he knows, the law on the train has put cuffs on him, Sam! This type of occurrence happens around Sam lot. He doesn’t put up with guys like that drunk fella bothering the passengers and he takes steps to stop the attack.
This is book #7 in the Sam Archer series. I enjoy an action book and the author doesn’t disappoint.

No Green light from me
Too bad. I think this author has the ability to write a good book. Unfortunately this book isn't it. Everything is so improbable that after reading 60 percent of the book I had to give up. This book is kind of a one trick pony where the evil bad guys can fill a bathtub with their special lye and acid mixture that melts the numerous victims bodies within an hour. Then they just open the drain and wash out the tub with no evidence left.

The investigation into the young woman's death is quickly solved. Too quickly. Sam continues to investigate, and gets involved with corrupt police, Russian gangs, and prostitute tings. The action never stops in this book, and the story ends with a nice surprise.

If you love non stop(and I mean literally) action with no flowing descriptions or deep back stories, Tom Barber is your man. I think I've read the entire Sam Archer series and they are all great reads. Of course there is plenty of fiction license granted to Archer and his cohorts in terms of realism, but this had an intriguing and complex plot. It's pure escapism and a goo tonic for the corona virus. Hail Barber!

This book is not revealed until the end chapters. I am not a fan of all the killing, so that is a strike against Barber. His main Character Sam Archer is made out to be one hell of a detective and he’s a cat with more than nine lives. I think Barber over does it with him getting out of jams, have someone help him. Really didn’t like being held in the dark to the end. At best 3.0. Too much gore! Should have read the low reviews.

The books keep getting better!!
I've read every book in the Sam Archer series so far. Every book has a different element to it and this one is no exception. This was n action packed fast paced book with a plot twist and a huge surprise I n the end that I don't think any reader could've expected.

A thrill ride
Every time I read a Tom Barber book l feel like I must be on a runaway train. It would take a super hero to survive everything that Sam Archer endures in Barber's books. But then, who doesn't love having a hero to to applaud. If you enjoy screaming action and good verses evil I think you'll like this one.

Action packed, twisty thriller
Very nicely written, full of twist and turns! All thriller lovers must read Green Light by Tom Barber. I didn't feel it slowed down even for a second! So much action and curiosity as to what will happen next. I was so excited to keep reading it and it had an action packed ending that will satisfy you.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author.
After the first third of the book I just wanted to be finished with it.
Characters are are unbelievable, plot line silly and the ending very weird and not in a good way.
Plenty of action although catastrophic wounds heal over night or in some cases within minutes.
Mole was easy to see after a few brief seconds of reading .

You know this is a work of fiction, and a series of fiction, because if all the stuff happened to one man, like it has to Sam Archer in these first seven books, he’d have a severe case of PTSD, and would need to move some place out in the country, where, probably, even the sound of a cricket would scare the crap out of him.

Wow! A book that tests your heart!
Tom Barber has created amazing characters in Sam Archer and his fellow agents. His books are thrill after thrill with twists and turns like a pretzel.
My heart is still racing at midnight as I finish this fast paced book!

complete baloney
Everyone but the Girl Scouts are out to kill this guy, to the point that it gets boring. “Ho hum, another miraculous last-second escape.” Artificially manufactured and totally unrealistic sudden plot turns, all written like a made-for-TV movie with sudden cuts and scene changes. Laughably unrealistic characters. Save your money, even if its free.

Action packed from beginning to end. Never thought that what was this whole thing about turned out to be about money yet we can actually look at what is happening today and see the same thing going on. Was not disappointed spending time in this author’s book. Will be reading more from Tom’s writings.

Not bad at all! Plenty of action. I love a well-written detective story.
This one fills the bill. I have it 4 out of 5 only because I want to see more of the thought process with the characters, especially Archer.

Adrenaline overload
Barber blasts you page after page with hyperactive bad guys and Sam Archer who just happens to be there to bring law and order to the situation. A little too much for me, but you won’t be bored and looking for action in this book.

Violent
if you don't care for really violent books , pass this one by. I like action in a book but there was to much in this one. I didn't finish it. Couldn't get past the James Bond type action only worse. To many people dying too violently. Will not get any more by this author.

Green light, sure, no red light to stop midway !
A page turning, roller coaster ride. Action packed. Like his other books, Green light is also a action packed, fiction. No dull moment. Enough ingredients to make it a movie which you can hopefully wait for.

Gripping story
Trying to guess who the bad guys are in this story is pointless. You think you know, but then you find out you are wrong and then you are right again, but still wrong about why. I couldn't put it down because there was so much happening from beginning to the end.

Sam appears to have 9 lives. He's usually in the wrong place, at the right time. Edge of your seat action and a brutal fight to take out the bad guys. Can't wait to read the next book.

Non-Stop Action
Another outstanding Sam Ached novel. The storyline appeared straightforward seemingly on two different levels, however the twists and turns, and coming together at the end made for a very surprising ending!

I read the whole story but I just never got hooked, there was a lack of something that I can't really put my finger on the story just kind of plugged along with no real story line that flowed the way I wanted it to.

Great story
This story keeps you interested because it switches from one person's view to the next. You are able to see what the bad guys are doing and also what's happening with the good guys. Curiity keeps you piqued.

Non stop action
If you want non stop action this is the book for you. I couldn't hardly put it down. It is very graphic so beware if you don't like that sort of thing. The only problem I had was it was hard to keep all the characters straight.
