I like this series, alot. I love her take on vampires and werewolves, the interaction from earth, above, and below. It's all very inventive. As with book two, book three picks up right where book two stopped, it is a continuous story.

I liked seeing the characters continue to evolve, learn new things about them, and finally see Em and Sam get the love they deserve. And now there are more characters I'd like to get to know better and find out what happens to them.

I would highly recommend reading this one only if you've *recently* read (or are great at retaining information)the first two. There was a lengthy time between release dates of book two and book three, and then I had the additional wait time while the library was getting their copies.

There are a lot of characters and a lot happened leading up to book three and even half way through the book, I would still have to stop and ask myself, "who is that?" or "what happened to them?" It sucked some of the joy out of it for me. Luckily book three and four have close release dates.

Good read. Book 3 of the Shadowmen series deals with Sam and Emerald [introduced in the earlier books:]. Sam was bitten by a vampire at the end of book 2 and so is on the fast track to damnation. [Vampires are NOT good guys in this series.:] Emerald reveals the truth about her past in hopes she will allow her to try to help him. When he finds that there is danger to her, he refuses her help and makes his plans to deal with the problem HIS way.

Cinitas [a continuing villain:] is having a little convention of hell on the nearby mountain. Torturous [sometimes literally:] politics are at work...

Don't try to read them out of order - or extreme confusion awaits. Also, probably not a series for those with rigid religious beliefs, as the mythos is not quite the standard Biblical text.

I'm looking forward to next one in the series.

I really liked this book despite being very confused. I received a free copy and haven't read the first two books so there was a ton of stuff I had to get up to speed on. The central characters are very interesting and, to be honest, seem more interesting than the others who have had previous books. Em is an angel and Sheriff Sam has recently been bitten by a vampire. As the book progresses he becomes more and more in thrall to his cold side. Em has erected an angelic umbrella to keep the various kinds of baddies out. Outside the barrier, the different bad guys are jostling for position. One wants Em because she was forced to kill his brother. The other wants to be king evil guy and needs a young angel wife, who is Em's 11 year old daughter. He also wants to kill all the women as part of his coronation ceremony. There are also demons and people who live in the spirit realm. The action is great and it keeps on coming. Kiss of Darkness is well written and, as I said, I enjoyed it despite being a bit confused by the backstories.

This was a delightful read, my first werewolf novel and I must say, it's a good way to be introduced to the genre. I love the werewolf /Angel thingy going on. Emerald is a survivor and I love and respect her resolve throughout the book. I bought this book thinking its a stand alone, now I can't wait to read the rest of the series cos the author is really clever with her glimpse of what's to come from the characters.

Kiss of Darkness is the third installment of the Shadowmen series. I have to say its one of my favorites in the series. Emerald and Sam are two characters that were introduced in the first book. Very intriguing characters, their bickering back an forth was great. I'm glad to see they got their own book and their own HEA. I do have to agree with AmyC and what she said in her review of this book. If this series seems interesting to you I suggest starting at the beginning with Touch of a Wolf or you could find yourself a bit lost.

I don't usually write reviews of one star books. If I book just wasn't for me I mostly just let it go. But in this case I need to remind myself that I don't want to buy any more of this author's books.

I read a couple of chapters in the front of the book and a few in the back as well. I don't think it matters that this book is the 3rd in the series because it is almost certainly a paranormal romance with a happy ever after ending. It generally doesn't matter if you read those out of order.

The writing was OK, but I did not care for the universe.

Such a slow book to get into, things that should take a sentance or two to describe takes a whole page or two, the spelling mistakes in this book are absolutely horrid! I would fire my editor if my book ended up published with so many mistakes! After about the first 100 pages the book becomes far more intersting, however, as the book becomes more interesting the spelling mistakes increase which make for harder reading trying to decipher what the author originally meant!

I bought this book at a book warehouse sale. I tried reading it and keeping up but it really just didn't keep my interest much. I believe that I need to find the beginning of the series and then I may understand more.
