I got caught up in less than 24 hours. I knew it would be good and I was so so so right, and now I just want more. I love them. We don't have to talk about the little girl at the end, nothing happened, the boys are together again and gayer than ever.
I know you can! 'cos you ain't ever looked away from me this was giving me panic attacks left and right--- also the drawings of the other side go hard!!🔥🔥🔥 This was a veryy risky thing for Hikaru to do, ALSO ASAKO AND TANAKA?? YOLO?? I'm waiting for the next chaptersss ....

I don't know which chapters this will cover but at the moment I've read the latest chapter (32). To be honest I'm not entirely sure I'm following the plot, there's something I'm missing so I'll probably read everything again to see what I missed. A while ago I said that the bl aspect of the story wasn't the main thing going on, but now I see that by wording it like that I was downplaying the importance and complexity of Yoshiki and Hikaru's (both of them) relationship.
Edit: I'm starting to think this might end with Yoshiki grieving both Hikarus deaths and learning to let go and move on, which will make me incredibly sad but so far I think it would make sense.

a lot more action packed than the other volumes as we watch them go on their hole closing mission and deal with fighting feet and hands... but i'm still loving it a lottt!!! also must mention that i absolutely loved chapters 33-1 and 34-1 (honorable mentions: 32-3 & 33-3) !!! definitely my favorites from this volume. and the duo that i never knew i'd love which is asako and tanaka (i swear they look like they're related so i'll hc them as relatives)
ALSO I LOVE ASAKO SOOO MUCH. she's such a great character. god. definitely one of my favorites ever
i've been taking so long to catch up to this manga just because i don't want to finish it so fast and then have to wait a million years for the new chapters💔💔 i'll also really miss binging a volume a night... so amazeballs...
"you'll pull me out using the connection between you and me! i know you can! 'cos y'ain't ever looked away from me." "then make sure ya get back here, okay? that's my wish." i have one word for them...
"accepting something with no form, the way it actually is... is next to impossible for humans. that's why... naming things... enables us to recognize them. it's not a bad thing, per se. it's what humans need to do. but reality's complicated... and most things can't be easily categorized. even more so in the world of monsters. and as soon as you apply human values to them... you lose sight of their true nature." "humans only see what they want to see. so as soon as you *see* one of those things, you’ll fit it into some sort of familiar concept or shape.” the queer allegory…
"maybe i'd see hikaru again. but... what about "hikaru"...?"
I am in awe over this manga, and this volume in particular. The way the POV keeps switching in between the two duos trying to close the holes was jaw dropping. The pace is intense, the stakes are high, and the very disturbing horror is unparalleled. The beautiful art only serves more in highlighting the terror of it all and the fast-pacing of this action. It’s so beautifully done.
Even for an action-packed volume like this one, our characters keep progressing and developing. The bond between Yoshiki and “Hikaru” is stronger than ever, and it’s only strengthened by the sheer desperation of them wanting to be back by each other’s side. Yoshiki subtly chooses “Hikaru” over his memory of Hikaru, and I feel like these events will be a turn in their relationship. Tanaka and Asako also show more strength in their respective characterization, and I’m so glad we get to see a bit more of them throughout their mission.
The ending of this volume was as insane as the rest of it, and I’m almost to pick up the next one. Knowing the author, I can't be ready for anything that's about to happen.
As Tanaka asks Asako for help closing a nearby hole, unaware his company superiors are closing in on the town, "Hikaru" enters a hole near Maki's place while Yoshiki waits to help him return - but the spirits will not go quietly, and the cost of fending them off may prove too high. Mokumokuren offers fans a tense and shocking entry, ripe with wonderfully unsettling imagery. What price will be paid for the safety of the villages...?
Another volume which focuses a bit harder on the supernatural stuff than the character drama. I enjoyed it better than vol.6 but this still isn't quite what I love the series for (I did love the folk horror mystery elements in vols 3-5 though, those were woven together with the character drama really nicely). Time to catch up on the unpublished chapters next!
