Space ship travel when you've been kidnapped sucks. I don't get a pillow, there's no snacks, and worst of all—the whole ship crashes. Except, it doesn't crash on Earth, or even Mars. Nope, I'm in a whole new galaxy on a foreign planet and some body-builder-looking blue horned aliens with lots of piercings have decided I'm their new play thing. And not in a good way.
Until one alien decides he's not going to share, and maybe I have a concussion from the crash, because I'm all about the possessive way he protects me. But there's no way he'll fight his whole clan for me . . . right?
Even though he is skilled in pleasuring a woman he has never seen one in his life. I particularly like this exchange: “Please, Emma.” I whispered. “Please what?”, she said. “I don’t know,” I stared at her helplessly.
😁 I like that!
But, I didn’t like that for a guy who has never orgasmed in his life, he was able to bang her a long time, flip positions 2 more times and hold off until she came first. I mean, he might have been taught the mechanics of sex but he never had a chance to practice stamina so… how?
Oh!? The story? You want to know about the story? It is short and sweet and a prequel to the series. Although I was surprised there were “bad guy” Drixoians. You can read it any time though since it is the back story to the original Drixonian/human couple. I liked it!
Virgin rating: Innocence of virgin hero: 4/5 (these Drixionians! He explains he has never seen a sentient female of any kind and yet he has been well schooled in the ways of giving sexual pleasure. Never sure how to rate these guys! Innocence in losing it: 2/5 Build up to losing it: 4/5 Hotness of losing it: 4/5 Busted touching himself: no POV of losing it: male
Okay this was a pretty good prequel. It made what I saw of Tark and Anna in book 1, more clear on how they ended up where they were, and how they were able to make a life for themselves. Their story was touching, intense, a little scary and at times, very hot.
I do think one more chapter or a mini epilogue would have benefited this Novella & not have caused the ending to feel so rushed here. So this is why I gave it 4 stars. Not to mention, I think that book 1 does a much better job with the set up and plights of these warriors, and also the connections that happen. I think this was written only to satisfy those who were curious about how Tark and Anna came to be, after you've met them in book 1.
Quick read with a lot of packed story on the history of the Drixonians and laying the premise of the series of what's to come...
It's OK, a lot of common tropes. The h is human, taken by aliens. The alien leader is mean, sees her as something he can trade. The H is one of his team, but he keeps himself apart from the other mean aliens. He helps her to escape, discover they are fated mates with matching tattoos. The end, hmmm.
While this novella felt pretty cheesy I cannot wait to get into the series. I read book 1 first on accidenta and it was fantastic. I wish the narrator had a different accent for her becuase the southern twang felt so funky with how the character was presented to the audience. Othere than that who doesnt like a rescued from aliens to find aliens story.
The way this book starts off with the captured heroine giving not so flattering nicknames to the others on the spaceship made me laugh. Blow hole, poney tail ect. Lol.
This book combines humor, sarcasm and sex and turns it into something rather enjoyable. If you enjoy sarcasm, bikers, piercings, tattoos, humor and sex then check out this book.
This is the prequel to the Drixonian Warriors book. Anna and Tark are introduced in the first book and then she wrote this prequel. This tells the story of how Anna and Tark met. It was a quick read and cute. Tark was protective and Anna was sweet. Plus side, no use of the c-word! :)
Description: Space ship travel when you’ve been kidnapped sucks. I don’t get a pillow, there’s no snacks, and worst of all—the whole ship crashes. Except, it doesn’t crash on Earth, or even Mars. My Thoughts: I was already familiar these characters, we meet them in the first book briefly. But it was nice to read their full story. At the time of writing this i’ve read three of these in the series. I will say this isn’t the best one. But i still think it’s fun and an easy read. Tark and Anna’s relationship was nice. I really like both of them. and the plot had me interested the whole time. I will say some of the downsides for not only this book but this series is that all the relationships are insta-love and they are all short books. But these book have been the great for my reading.
This is the second book in the series Ive read and I wish i’d read it first but happy to read their story. They might be my favorite couple so far! Next Sax’s story
This was a little prequel to the Drixonian Warriors series, and I enjoyed it. There was only eight chapters, so it was pretty short and we only get the bare bones of what’s going on with this alien species. I am looking forward to digging into the next, more full-length book, The Aliens Ransom.
Typical alien abduction storyline. It was a quickie so I felt like some things could have been fleshed out a little more, but it wasn't bad. I've heard book one is actually much better than this prequel so crossing my fingers that rumor is true.
Bien, esta novela nos lleva a un planeta selvático en donde viven unos aliens azules moteros... Moteros y bastante violentos. No puedo decir que no me haya parecido una historia interesante, pero no la encontré muy de mi agrado.
Was so excited to get tark and Anna’s story! After meeting them in daz and Frankie’s book. And all that they have done over the years and books of the others. Wow. Love tark even more for all he did for Anna right out of the gate. Much similar to daz and Frankie’s first interactions. Getting their story was awesome after seeing how they end up in the books. Can’t wait for more.
The Ice Planet Barbarian renaissance is continuing on TikTok and I’m still trying to find any alien romance series that lives up to it. I’ve read quite a few and haven’t found any.
I will say, something I love about sci-fi romance is that writers turn the alien men into top notch vibrators that are attached to 7 feet of muscle. Like in IPB they have the spur, and in this book the alien men have super long, pierced tongues, can “vibrate” themselves, and have a notch on their *thang* to hit the g-spot.
I’m just gonna say it - men written by women are better!!
ANYWAY I’ll stop rambling. This is the prequel novella to the Drixonian Warriors series. I don’t think I’m going to continue with the series. Something I want is to love the WORLD the sci-fi romance is set in. Like despite the fact that Not Hoth is tits cold, I’d want to go because I want a sa khui mate and resonance. But nothing about this world makes me want to go there… even a vibrating dick. ):
I got this free. I think from the author's website. This is also a novella as introduction into a series. It was also "insta-love" which I'm not the biggest fan of. It was mostly a set-up for the world building with an Earth woman , Anna being kidnapped and crashing on a planet with Alien's that are blue skinned and horned (Ruby Dixon anyone?). There is a motorcycle club with rivals and another alien race as enemies. Quite busy for the short page count. A cross between Mad Max and Star Trek. The story was competent but the characters were a bit meh. Anna was a librarian (of course!) and Tark our hero was the rebel among the motorcycle gang. I'm not sure if I will dive into the series based on this novella.
This novella is a great introduction to the series. Anna finds herself on a strange planet at the mercy of aliens when she's kidnapped from Earth. She meets the Drixonians, an alien race that lost all it's females to a plague. She feels a connection to Tark, one of the warriors who feels strongly protective of her. Some sexy scenes with really great story telling.
That’s a good introduction into a new SciFi Alien World of bikers and an intriguing plot where the „SHE is all“ on a planet of burly bikers deprives all their women of their own kind - For sure I want to know how this is going on and especially how it will works in and for the future.
Wanted to check out the new Megan Erickson/Ella Maven venture into sexy science fiction. I’m interested, I’ll be one clicking the first full length book when it releases on the 24th.
A start I'm not sure if I can get behind. Do you know that feeling, that mental click in your brain that lets you know you've stumbled on to a world you can lose yourself in, that roaring in your blood urging you to turn the page... well, that feeling lay dormant for this book. It wasn't the characters, or the world because, by themselves, I found that they could have been interesting enough to satisfy my craving for otherworldly interdimensional romance with a not-so-human male lead that had my hands itching to slide against scales. No, that wasn't the issue at all. The issue was the writing. The dialogue and wording of some of the descriptions felt like they were purposefully written to sound more "relatable" (By the gods and goddesses I hate that word) and it just made them feel ick. The beginning of the book was like trudging through mud, and when it finally started to pick, about 40% of the way in, it felt rushed and unfulfilling. The potential for romance was there and I could see sparks of Tark and Anna's bond, however they were strangers by the end of the story. I get the fated mate pull, I love the fated mate pull, but there still needs to be more. The physical characteristics of the Drixonians were still captivating and worth the mention. I love the way the author incorporated a natural defense system in thier genetic makeup. Very fun and vicious. This book is a hot debate in my mind, I'm not sure if I'll continue the series, and if I do the next book will be a make or break for me. Romance: 2.5 Spice level: 2
I had been looking for something totally different in my Audible library and I thought aliens, why not? hahaha and I am glad I did. I listened to this introductory novella in a quick turnaround and am already almost done book 1 of the series. I am digging the world and how the author is painting these creatures in my mind with their detailed description. I love imagining this amazing world.
The narration was good from these two, I have listened to the female narrator a lot and have no issues with her or her performances. I felt Anna's fear but her resilience in this novella and the narrator did a great job. I laughed with some of Tark's antics and I wanted more of Shepp, not gonna lie! I loved the aliens trying to learn earth phrases/mentions and I liked the translator thing. I am interested to see how any of the side characters we meet in this intro will be in future books, but only time will tell. I liked the bands they get on them when they are confirmed mated. I liked all the awesome appendages and extra fun things the author added to Tark's anatomy haha. Spice was good, I enjoyed some of the sweeter moments more, but overall a good mix of story and spice.
Already listening to book 1, almost finished, so I am definitely invested in this new world and new to me author. I like switching up my listens/reads and I had listened/read an alien one in a while so this was a nice change of pace. 4/5 for this short story in this overall bigger series.
Ease up on the italics I read The Alien's Ransom before reading this one and I listened to the audiobook so all of the mentions of the alien language in the reviews didn't really bother me. Then I read this. I get it now. It seemed like all of the alien language was italicised which was really off putting. There were also small things where she contradicted herself like she says she wants to survive so she can "taste strawberries again. Be with a man. Laugh with my friends." But then a few chapters later she claims that she'd only been with a man once, it hurt and he dumped her right after and "frankly I wondered if I felt attraction, because men didn't do it for me. I thought maybe I was attracted to women, but that had also been a no-go." I get it's only a small thing but little things like that can really take me out of the story.
This novella was a brief introduction into Ella Maven’s Drixonian Warriors series. In it we get the story of Tark and Anna who audiobook listeners originally met in book 1, THE ALIEN’S RANSOM, since that book came out first on audio. I must admit that when I first came across them I wanted to know how they ended up together so I’m thrilled that the author decided to put this prequel on audio.
What I liked most about this novella was the word building. Life isn’t a cake walk for the Drixonians. They’re warriors yet also survivors. I love their mantra and how it’s been resurrected.
Heather Costa and Jeffrey Kafer lend their voices to Maven’s creation bringing it to life for us listeners. It was fun hearing Costa’s southern accent for Anna and it was hilarious hearing Kafer take on a feminine voice with a country twang.
