“𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒉𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒅𝒐 𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒊𝒇 𝒊𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒆. 𝑰 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕, 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒚 𝒅𝒐𝒗𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖.”

I rarely read fantasy, but this magical romance completely hooked me, I read it all in one day!

A fae thief and a broody vampyre art dealer team up for treasure, revenge… and maybe love?! When Taria accidentally releases Lucius the Vampyre from his coffin, he could’ve bitten her, but instead, they strike a deal. She’ll help him retrieve a powerful artifact while pretending to be his wife, and in return, he’ll reward her with a hefty sum of gold.

They barely know each other, but working side by side sparks unexpected feelings. Can a fae and a vampyre really have a future? And what happens when their plan ends?

With cozy fantasy vibes, witty banter, and a just-kisses romance (but includes some suggestive innuendo), this story delivers with: fake marriage, forced proximity, a mischievous squirrel sidekick, as well as a handsome mmc that falls first.

Romance, magic, suspense, and a hint of danger made this an amazing read! I would definitely read more by this author.

I received a complimentary copy. This review reflects my honest opinion.

If you your comfort reads are just cozy fantasy stories… this is perfect for you!
I love reading a more cozy fantasy every now and then and this one was perfect.

I love Eliza Tiltons books so I thought I’d love this too and I did!:)

Our FMC Tavia is a skilled thief and one day her thieving ways get her stuck in quite the predicament. She’s accidentally unleashed a Fae Vampyre, Lucius who now requires her help since he is unfamiliar with his surroundings after a century of being locked away — and he will pay nicely for her enthusiastic assistance.

“Now, my pretty dove,” he said, his red eyes dimming to a deep emerald, green, “let’s make a bargain.”

Their adventure is cute and and I love the little quips between them. The fake marriage trope got them to get closer even though Tavia was just trying to do the job and get out. Lucius made it very hard to resist as he became enamored with her and immediately treated her like his queen in their fake marriage — how can you resist!?

"I have sat in darkness for a hundred years, and I would do it again if it meant you would always find me. I know what I want, pretty dove, and it's you."

Oh and wait til you meet Wiley!!! So cute:)

Oh, Lucius, you sweet, sweet vampyre soul, how I loved meeting you...

To Sway A Thief was just what the doctor prescribed—a sweet, lower-stakes fantasy on the shorter side, filled with wit, banter, romance and mixed in with some spice.

Being a novella, I didn't go in expecting massive world-building or intricate character development. Still, I got exactly what I hoped for—a well-rounded story with intriguing characters, each with their own struggles and inner demons, packed with action, beautiful romance and love at the bottom of a coffin. How could I ask for more?

Eliza Tilton is an author who knows her way to my heart, and I was so glad I got to be on the team again. For those of you familiar with her Immortal Fae King series, I believe you will be happy to see we are back in the world, just with different protagonists. Trust me, Lucius and Tavia are worth your time.

And you also get the cutest animal companion in the form of a mischievous squirrel sidekick as a bonus. Add fake marriage, forced proximity, a handsome MMC who falls first, and you get just the right mixture for a swoony fantasy romance.

I’ll start by saying that the moment I saw the stunning naked hardback character art for this novella, I had to read it. The premise—a fae thief and a vampyre art dealer attempting a magical heist that’s about more than just treasure—sounded totally up my alley and promised a swoony, enchanting fantasy romance.

Unfortunately, I struggled to fully enjoy the story, even though it’s undeniably sweet, for two main reasons.

1. Since it’s a novella, I wasn’t expecting deep character development—but I did hope for at least a solid backstory. Tavia’s motivation for becoming a thief felt kind of thin: her family is poor, they live in a small cottage far from the nearest village, and she turned to thieving to give them a better life. That’s... fine, I guess? But morally, it left me wanting more. Usually, characters in her position are driven by desperation, oppression, or some past trauma. Here, that context is missing. I found myself wondering: couldn’t they have just found regular jobs?

2. There are a few worldbuilding inconsistencies. Lucius has supposedly been imprisoned for about a century (I won’t spoil the details), but it’s like no time has passed at all. The story mentions that a century has gone by, but that fact doesn’t really impact anything. For example, Lucius takes Tavia to his favorite café and orders his usual dishes—as if the world hadn’t changed at all in a hundred years. That kind of threw me off and broke the immersion a bit.

Overall, it’s a cute and charming novella that I think will appeal to readers looking for a soft, romantic fantasy. But more hardcore fantasy fans might be distracted by the lack of depth and those small inconsistencies.

Huge thanks to the Author and Booksprout for the ARC in exchange for my honest review

To Sway a Thief by Eliza Tilton is a closed door romance with tension to the max.

** I would like to express my thanks to ☆ Eliza Tilton ☆ for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review **

What would you do if you happened to wake up a vampire from his 100-year slumber? Would you follow his plans for revenge to prevent your untimely death by an attack to the neck? Well, this author did just that. The tension between the characters was intense, and the writing was fast-paced. The characters were cute and the back and forth between the characters was amazing.

This book was well-written, and read this book so fast to figure out what would happen between the characters. There were so many things that kept me on the edge of my seat, the situations that the characters got into made me need to flip the pages faster and faster. A thief, a vampire, and a squirrel, a trio that I didn’t know I needed.

I highly recommend this book if you want a fast paced that keeps you on your edge on your seat.

I received an ARC from the author but was not required to post a review. This is my voluntary,
honest opinion after reading this book.

Tavia has had to resort to being a thief to try and get money to support her poor parents. Thinking she has found a heist that will help her and them she waits for the time to make her move. However, what she finds will change her life in ways she never saw coming!

This as a slow burn romance between two people that all logic would say wouldn’t work, but somehow did! I enjoyed it and the feelings that both Tavia and Lucius developed for each other. Kindness and compassion emerged almost from the start as they plan to steal back a object Lucius had taken from him. The perfect plan was devised and executed but in doing so a twist unseen came to play and altered it somewhat proving love comes sometimes in ways we don’t see coming!

I enjoyed this tale and heartily recommend it to one and all! I enjoyed the story and the characters and believe all who love a good romantic book with no spice will as well!

I invite you to read this book and discover once again qualities that define an individual and make him or her a person you would want to have in your life and be like as well!

If you love adorable and fast-paced fantasy romance with a cute animal sidekick, then this book is perfect for you. The main characters are polar opposites of each other, but they work great together, and you just can't help but love them. Tavia, an almost too innocent fae, turned to thievery in an attempt to earn extra money and a better life for her family. That is, until she stumbles upon Lucius, a gentlemanly vampyre, who just spent 100 years locked in a coffin. Upon their meeting, they make a deal, and both their worlds completely change from then on out. Although a bit too fast for my taste, the romance will leave you giggling and kicking your feet. Mixed nicely with the heist subplot, which adds a bit of a tension to the story, but ties up nicely and answers all the questions.

Favourite quote: "If you were harmed... I'd burn them all to the ground."

I got this book as an ARC for an exchange for my review, but all opinions are honest and my own.

I love Eliza's writing style and her ability to transport her readers into the story. While this is a standalone book it is part of a series with multiple authors. I'm not usually a fan of this type of series, but I really love her books! I also appreciate the closed door aspect so I can share this with friends and family with teen readers and ones who don't necessarily want or need the spicy scenes.

It was only supposed to be a heist. Tavia’s last one as the seasons changed to winter, a dangerous cold was approaching. She did not expect to find a vampyr fae, Lucious, in the process. This meeting would change everything for them both.

“ There was something captivating about this fae, and despite the dangers and uncertainties, he felt a peculiar sense of anticipation”.

“Their meeting was more than destiny. Somehow, she had been searching for him”.

If you’re looking for a cozy slow burn romance, this may be the book for you. I enjoyed the banter between the main characters and detailed world building aspects.

I really wanted to love this book. When I read the blurb, I was instantly hooked and rushed to buy it. I loved the story idea, the cover is gorgeous and I was eager to read it.

However, the first thing that struck me was the formatting. I know, but I'm a stickler for formatting as it affects how well I immerse in the story. Instead of the usual single space with indents for paragraphs, each paragraph was separated by a line of space. It made for a less smooth read.

Since this was a novella, I didn't expect heavy world-building or deep character development, but I struggled to connect with the characters at all. They were interesting but not captivating.

I liked both and their backstories, though I wasn't really sure why, if Lucius had been imprisoned for a century, his coffin was being driven around in a carriage. Unless I missed it, that never came up.

I thought there would be more on the Brotherhood, which never really materialised. Also, other than right at the beginning and right near the end, the rest felt like a lot of filler. I know there was a need to have the characters spend time together, to grow and develop feelings, but it would have been fun to see that happen with more action.

The concept had a lot of potential, the characters were interesting, and if it had been a full novel, allowing for a stronger sense of development, world building and action, I would probably love it.

To Sway a Thief is a lush and intoxicating fantasy romance that blends the thrill of a magical heist with the slow-burn tension of forbidden attraction. Eliza Tilton delivers a story full of charm, danger, and dark seduction, where every stolen glance is as dangerous as the treasures the characters seek.

Tavia, a fae thief with a sharp wit and an even sharper moral code, is the kind of heroine you root for immediately. She's resourceful, guarded, and determined to protect her family at any cost. Her accidental freeing of Lucius—a vampyre with a tragic past and an irresistible allure—sets off a chain of events that leads to an unforgettable adventure filled with magic, betrayal, and tangled emotions.

Lucius is the perfect blend of menace and magnetism. A former art dealer turned prisoner of the Brotherhood, his century of captivity has made him bitter, hungry, and dangerous—but also layered and unexpectedly vulnerable. His dynamic with Tavia crackles from the start, built on mistrust and necessity that evolves into something far more complex and enticing.

Tilton masterfully builds the tension between her leads, creating a romance that is both swoonworthy and shadowed by the weight of their individual scars. The worldbuilding is rich without ever being overwhelming—filled with enchanted artifacts, light crystal traps, and powerful factions that blur the line between good and evil.

At its heart, this is a story about second chances—at freedom, at love, and at rewriting the past. Tavia and Lucius both carry heavy burdens, but watching them navigate their alliance and slowly start to trust (and fall for) one another is one of the most satisfying arcs in recent romantasy.

I’m assuming on the fence about how I feel about this book. I definitely feel that I liked it more than I disliked it. The tension between Tavia and Lucius was great from the start. He was immediately gentlemanly and considerate of her from the beginning, and I loved how determined he was to spoil her. He didn’t even really know why at first, which I found adorable. He spoiled her with chocolates, cooking, running baths for her, all new clothes and even took her to see the gardens. The gown he brought for the masquerade sounded so breathtaking. He was so caring and kind to her and it was nice to see Tavia slowly open up more.

There were a few aspects I really didn’t enjoy. I wish that Lucius’ vampire side came more into play. It was important for a couple of scenes and was the whole motivation for their heist, I was kinda expecting him to bite her and she enjoy it possibly. Also, I’m assuming they were mates at the end, but it wasn’t very clear, it seems like we jumped right into love after knowing each other for a week or so. I guess I wanted more, or a clear mate bond so that it was more justified. Lastly, the ending pissed me off so badly. I can’t justify why Lucius would do that, like it made everything up to that point mean nothing. I don’t want to spoil it so that’s all I’ll say. There were still plenty of things I liked but the end kind of ruined it for me.

To Sway a Thief was an interesting and entertaining novella with a fun premise! It follows a fae thief who accidentally releases a vampire that had been trapped for a hundred years. In exchange for her help, he offers her a large sum of coin to pretend to be his wife as part of an elaborate plan to recover a family heirloom.

I enjoyed the writing style—it was cute and easy to get into—and the instant attraction between the characters was fun to read. There was a good amount of fluff, and the twist at the end added a unique touch I didn’t see coming.

That said, there were a few inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story. The fake marriage trope is one I usually love, but in this case, it didn’t feel necessary or relevant to the plot. I also had a hard time believing that after being trapped for a century, the vampire’s favorite restaurant still existed and hadn’t changed at all—not even the menu. He even still had an apartment? It just didn’t quite add up. And the fact that she had never kissed anyone before him, despite being an adult, felt oddly out of place.

Overall, this was a quick and enjoyable read with some great ideas, but I think a little more attention to world-building and character realism would have made it stronger.

This is the first book I’ve read in the tempting thieves collection and I really enjoyed it for the most part. It is a shorter book, but it doesn’t lack in creating a beautiful world that you can lose yourself in. You follow Tavia, a thief and she happens to stumble her way into meeting Lucius the vampyre. I will do no justice to the amazing writing that is in this book to describe how these characters just melt together. If you are into the romance-fantasy genre with a tame, non-sexual reading experience, this is the book for you.

The only part of the book I felt was slightly lacking was the ending. I don’t know if it is because I am so used to being left in suspense or if it just fell a bit flat. I was expecting a bit more excitement and a curve ball to be thrown in last minute. But there were no cliff hangers or suspenseful catches, it all just went too smoothly for me. It is also a novella and I understand that it probably can only be so long.

Overall, it was a wonderful read that kept me deeply immersed in the character development and the story. It is a feel good read that will make you want to read the rest of the series.

Someday I'll stop getting books that I picked up because of the book cover and or the title. But not today. A novella is the perfect way to begin reading a new author. This is my first Eliza Tilton, finding out at books end that she has made a series of 'Swaying', was delightful. I think the entire story can be summed up in one line:

"I have sat in darkness for a hundred years and I would do it again if it meant you would always find me" (p 177) Lucius's words to Tavia, pure magic.

A Fae thief, thinking she's going to find riches in a coffin, accidently lets loose a vampire who was imprisoned 100 years prior. They form an uneasy alliance. She agrees to help him get vengeance upon the Brotherhood that held him captive and they agree to a pretend marriage.
Tavia and Lucius were an absolute delight. There's just a tiny bit of sizzle, kisses, kisses, and lots of tantalizing thoughts. Great world building. And Oscar for the best actor in a supporting role is Wiley, the squirrel.
It was pure enjoyment and a quick read. One of those books that you didn't know you needed. Until you sit down with it.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my review.

This one started off well, but got fairly romance-heavy quickly.
There was one sacrificial moment for a stranger that I loved, but the rest I found a bit contrived and lacking in tension.

Tavia starts to see Lucius more as a victim than a murderer, which is a bit problematic. I know he's reformed and all, but at the start of the book he does murder three guards.

Then, quite quickly, the tension you would normally have with a vampire is all gone. He's a giant softie, who never wants to put her in danger. After the first scene, he never shows signs of lacking self-control or like his dark side might take over. And when she thinks about him possibly being cured, we get that 'She knew he missed the simple things, like enjoying a piece of chocolate'!!!! I think there's more significant problems about being a vampire than not enjoying chocolate...

Tavia's instinct to withhold the cure from that poor man was rather disappointing too.
But, him giving away the only possible cure to someone else to save them was brilliant. I wish there were more moments like that throughout.

It was okay, but lacking in depth and character development.

CW:
- opening scene, he murders some guards and then drinks their blood after they're dead
- reference to domestic violence
- the vampire has a hidden stash of bottles of blood, some of whom were his own victims. They wash them down the sink and it takes a whole hour to do it all.

Some novellas manage to fully develop the world, characters and story despite a relatively low word count, this one doesn't manage that. The motives for the characters are either flimsy or never really explained. I was expecting a lot more to be happening with Tavia's family and their backstory, but was disapointed. There are problems with the timeframe of events in that one character has effectly missed one hundred years and yet aside from a little dust his homes (more than one) are in pristine condition, there is edible food in the cupboards and the apartment in a city hasn't attracted squatters or been reposessed or touched by anyone. It's a fantasy world so magic could explain at least some of these things, but no explanation, magical or otherwise, is ever offered. There also seem to have been no changes to the world in one hundred years, even the location and menu in a cafe are exactly the same.

This is a cosy fantasy style novella suitable for someone looking for a quick, fun read that doesn't challenge the mind.

I received an ARC and leave an honest review.

A Cozy, Closed Door Palate Cleanser

I received a copy of this book from the author for review. All opinions are my own.

This was a lovely little novella! It grabbed my attention from the first page and I read it in one day. I think anyone who likes cozy romantasy where the spice doesn't go beyond kissing would enjoy this. As someone who reads books of all spice levels, I think the level in this one fit the story and the characters perfectly.

Watching Tavia and Lucius go from uneasy allies to lovers and learn to trust and care for each other was a delight. The relationship developed quickly, but it didn't feel like instalove. And the pet squirrel was adorable.

But this wasn't a five-star read because it was somewhat lacking in character development, even for a shorter read. There were also a few aspects of the story that didn't make sense to me. And for a book to be five stars, I need it to have a "wow factor" that this one lacked.

Still, I could easily see myself reading more of the standalone romantasy stories in this series, especially between longer, heavier reads!

I was fortunate enough to get an advanced copy of this book. I was intrigued immediately. I mean a fae and a vampire in the same book just kind of hit me in my soul.

I loved Taria and Lucius. An unlikely pair with witty banter. This book had mystery and intrigue along with hints of romance and suspense. I mean who would ever suspect that a fae thief would wake up a vampire from his slumber and then they'd partner together to not only get what she wants but allow him to exact revenge.

I loved the story line and the plot. I also loved the slow burned romance because it was just enough for me. I love some good spice but sometimes It overtakes a story. So I absolutely love that this was hints of subtle romance without all the distracting spice. I fell in love with the characters and was truly invested in the outcome of their story.

I have never heard of this author before but I will definitely be looking at more of her books after reading this.

Unfortunately, this one just didn’t work for me. The premise sounded promising — fae thief, vampyre art dealer, forbidden magic heist? I was in. But the execution left a lot to be desired. The pacing was way too fast, and it felt like the story barely scratched the surface of what could’ve been a deep, emotional, and magical journey.

The romance didn’t have time to breathe, the backstory felt paper-thin, and the worldbuilding had inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story more than once. Characters who’ve been locked away for a century should probably act like it’s been a century — not like they just woke up from a nap and went for brunch.

While it may work as a cozy, quick fantasy for readers who want something light and low-stakes, I personally wanted more depth, more development. Sadly, this one just didn’t steal my heart.

Tavia and Lucius . . .

Tavia is a Fae who steals to take care of her family. Lucius is a vampyre who has been locked away in a coffin for 100 years by the Brotherhood. On one of her heists, Tavia finds and unlocks a coffin, imagining there might be a treasure hidden inside. She ends up freeing the ancient vampyre who is driven by vengeance to go after those who held him captive for the past hundred years within a coffin sealed with light crystals. His highly treasured artifact is missing. But now that he is free, he must find a way to track it down. Tavia, a thief, is the perfect partner to help him get his artifact back. He is willing to pay her well for her help which will allow her family to have a real future. However, falling in love was not part of her plan when she agreed to help him. Will they both reach their goals? Grab your copy and see the outcome for a thief, vampire, and a squirrel (don’t ask) in this fast-paced story.

Thank you to the author for an eARC!

⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love Tavia and Lucius's story so much! A chance encounter leads to so much more as Tavia is just trying to make enough gold to help her parents, and Lucius has been stuck in a coffin for the last one hundred years.

Both are closed off from being alone, and it’s nice to watch them open up to each other. Even before going out on the road by herself the last two years, Tavia’s parents isolated the family, meaning she didn’t get to interact with a ton of people. In addition to being locked in a coffin, Lucius didn’t really have people around him because of his line of work.

The pacing of the story was great, with constant beats and decisions being made as Tavia and Lucius make their plan to take back something stolen from Lucius before he was put in a coffin. They are always moving and planning, and I like how on my toes it kept me as the reader.
