RICHARD SCARRY is one of the world's best-loved children's authors EVER! In his extraordinary career, Scarry illustrated over 150 books, many of which have never been out of print. His books have sold over 100 million copies around the world, and are currently published in over twenty languages. No other illustrator has shown such a lively interest in the words and concepts of early childhood. Richard Scarry was posthumously awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Illustrators in 2012.
It's hard to find this book even as a reprint. This is a great example of Richard Scarry's work - I would say solid example that's why it gets 5 stars and not six. Has a place on every child's bookshelf.
This is a book about seasons in the year and various activity in each of the seasons. Zain hasn’t read it yet - just me so far. I suspect it won’t be as much fun as our favorite Scarry books “Busy Town” and “Cars, Trucks, Things that go”. Will try though. Will update my review if he likes it, but I found it too dry.
Read this again because I needed a book with children's games in it for a reading challenge. It was a lot funnier when I was a child, and I recommend it to people with small children.
More anthropomorphic animals teaching kiddies about cutting down trees and building roads. At thanksgiving dinner the turkeys and cows are absent, except as menu options.
I love Richard Scarry. Much of my childhood I can remember spending hours on my belly on the floor pouring over some adventure or another with Richard Scarry's characters. MY favorite was the Big Book of things to do on a Rainy Day, although I'm not sure of the exact title. (We even had a German Richard Scarry from my brother's childhood - during my father's military career!)
This book is awesome. Seasonal things and vocabulary make this a great education and entertainment resource. I am delighted to have this for my daughter's very own first Richard Scarry, but it definitely will not be her last.
*Thanks to Sterling for providing a copy for review.*
I did not grow up with any of Richard Scarry's book (or any children stories for that matter). What a pity. But now that I have discovered him, I'm having as blast reading anything by him. Love it, Love it, love it.
