Two princes are in love with Lucy. Too bad she's an imposter...

--

I waitress at MadDog biker bar to pay my uncle’s rent at Assisted Living. I work my a** off but when I pour a pitcher of margaritas on a loser harassing my BFF -- I’m fired. I scour want-ads until I find one that doesn’t make me want to hurl.

"PERSONAL ASSISTANT WANTED: Twenties. Fab people skills. Celebrities don’t intimidate you. If actress -- you can NEVER use this on your resume."

Sounds dicey as hell. I apply immediately.

Lady Lizzie Billingsley– who if you get drunk and squint could be my impeccably polished twin -- is entering into a marriage of convenience with playboy Prince Cristoph, the heir to the throne of Fredonia.

Lizzie doesn’t really want a PA…she's hiring me to impersonate her, keep Cristoph's wandering eye in check while she clears up a few loose ends. Did I mention the gig pays a fortune and includes a makeover?

What could possibly go wrong?

Oh dear, what was this? A young woman, desperate to make money (to pay for her I think grandfather's nursing home bills) signs up to impersonate a princess from a small European country who had lived in the USA for a while. To her closest family and the press. Nobody suspects anything even though she blurts out a telling faux-pas in nearly every second sentence.
The writing on the cover spoils a major surprise, which really sucked. I t all seemed so designed to appeal to the not so smart (sorry).
I was really disappointed with it all. It was unconvincing, had some major issues with logic and was flat as can be.

I liked this book. It took some getting used to but I really enjoyed it by the end. The heroine, Lucy, seems quite a bit immature in the beginning of the story but slowly matures throughout the book. She's hired to do one job -- be someone else for a few weeks. Not just someone, but a famous someone. Here's where it takes your imagination to go with the book. Lucy doesn't look anything like the girl Elizabeth until she gets a super nice makeover. She learns to walk and talk like a princess, etc. Once all that is over with is where I finally started getting interested in the story. Nick, one of the guys after "Elizabeth", is absolutely yummy. I really liked his character (except the part where he's slept with the real Elizabeth) and he and Lucy have good chemistry. There are plenty of funny parts as well. The Ladies-In_Waiting are a hoot!

It's a sweet story and it made me smile.

I wrote it. I love it. But of course. I might be partial, yes?

I can't wait to write the next one and stir up more trouble. And wait until you hear the Audio version narrated by Lesley Fogle. It is hilarious! And a huge thanks to Regina Wamba at Mae I Design for a freaking adorbs book cover.

This book is just a little naughty but a whole lot of fun.

If I had to compare this book to one other, it would definitely be the Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot… but then again, I like this book more than those!

At first I found it hard to get into the style of writing. The book was written very much through the voice of the main character, called Lucy. And well, she seemed at first to have a childish way of thinking, but it was not so much childish as outgoing. She also had a right to be astounded by all the things happening to her because she was going to a new country and taking on a pretty difficult job if you ask me. Either way, within ten percent of the book I was used to the writing style and loving Lucy’s character, and that was basically the only thing I could find wrong with this book.

The characters were very well done. I loved Lucy who seemed like someone who was just trying to make everyone happy, and would do anything for her friends. She was pretending to be a princess in replacement of someone else, but she couldn’t help loving the life and the people she got to know through it. She cared for the people there, her family and friends back home, and still was someone who often saw the happy side to life. I really liked who she was. I also really liked the character Phillip, who was basically her support throughout the whole novel, along with her ladies-in-waiting.

The two love interests, Nick and Christoph, do make the novel include a love triangle. This love triangle didn’t bother me because it seemed like something that made sense. Lucy was supposed to be keeping the interest of one guy as her job qualifications demanded, but she can’t help but personally be attracted to someone else. It wasn’t so much a pitiful girl throwing herself between two men, but more so the choice of job over happiness. I liked that.

This was ultimately a fun book. It was a joy and a breeze to read – I managed it in one day alone because it had me smiling at parts and I fell in love with the characters. Even though it’s a nice, light read there was still a significant plot twist which always left me wondering what choices Lucy was going to make, and how it would affect what was happening around her. In my opinion this is something you should definitely read.

I can’t wait for the sequel, and I wonder what it will bring!

Once upon a time, there was a young woman named Lucy Trabbicio. She was down on her luck and really needed a job. You see, Lucy didn't take kindly to obnoxious men in a bar and dumped a pitch of water down drinks on a specifically nasty piece of works head. Leaving her in a quite a predicament. When a once in a lifetime chance comes up to save her financial situation, Lucy reluctantly jumps on board.

You'll never guess what her part time job entails and she can't tell you because she's under contract with a gag order...but I'll let you in...she's got to impressionate a princess for 10 days.

Part-time Princess was a fun, laugh out loud, story. The characters are outrageously quirky. With my family giving me funny looks for my unprovoked smiling, I rather enjoyed taking a diversion with this lite and humorous reading.

The comedy was spot on but the romance was a little under developed. Guess I was too busy laughing to really feel any character connection.

A fun, sexy, story packed with belly laughing humor Part-Time Princess was a very entertaining read.

This book was incredibly charming, witty, and fun! Pamela DuMond is an incredibly talented writer, and I am so glad I got a chance to read this book. The plot was great, the writing perfect and the characters were hilarious! I couldn't have been more please, from the very first page I was hooked in and fell in love with Lucy.

Lucy is bold, outspoken, self reliant and always getting herself into situations that aren't ideal. She loses her job, because she defended a co-worker and stood up for her. But she doesn't only need a job to support herself but to keep her only relative out of a state facility. So Lucy hits the want adds hard, and comes across an interesting job add...

"Part-Time Job:
Personal Assistant Needed. You: Twenty-something. (Not actress years-real years.) Blonde. (Or willing to become blonde for this job's duration.)Medium height. Average weight. You are cute. Presentable. Can think on your feet. Willing to travel for job. You like older people-they do not creep you out. You are not a huge partier, but can sip champagne or enjoy a hearty lager. You are not addicted to drugs or alcohol. You have a high school degree and preferably advanced degrees and/or are working toward that goal."

...now intrigued and seeing nothing else that wouldn't require being a driver for an alcoholic or becoming an escort, she goes to the interview. With little to no details she gets the job and, in a whirlwind of activities she gets primped, plucked, constantly scolded and taught how to be a lady, then flown off to Fredonia, a tiny kingdom in Europe. Lucy finds herself taking the place of Lady Elizabeth, who's hand has been promised to a Prince and taking her place for two weeks.

Lucy finds herself falling in love with a prince, just not the right one! This book is funny, romantic, and full of bumps all along the way. Lucy is hilarious and I fell in love with all the characters in this book! I cannot wait to read the next in this series and many more things written by DuMond!

You know those books where the MC annoys the hell out of you, and it makes the whole book sound like mouldy cheese? This was not one of these books.

The MC Lucy, was one badass heroine in my books.

A few nights ago, after I had finished Part-Time Princess, I googled "How to become a princess" and found a quiz on whether I'm a Princess on the inside or not. Apparently, I'm not really fit to be a Princess, but you know what, I was one of those kids that when they grew up, I wanted to be a garden gnome, not a princess. Well now, I want to be a Princess.

gif

I'll start with the character I liked least;

Prince Christoph Edward George Timmel the Third of Fredonia:
I was hoping that I would like him even a sqinch of a little bit, but I hated this guy. The only time this guy made me laugh was about his stupidity towards Lucy/Elizabeth. Through all of the chapters with Christop and Lucy/Elizabeth together, I'm guessing that their was a sham on his behalf, but to be completely honest, I have no freaking clue.

"(Christoph> nodded and smiled. 'I remember everything about you Elizabeth.'
'Do you remember that you yanked her doll from her chubby hands, tore off Betty Wetty's arms and legs and then tossed them over the schoolyard fence?' Nick asked"

LOL Christoph seems like a ditz to me.

gif

Helga:
You're the best badass villain ever. I really loved Helga and her wicked ways. Everytime she spoke, an Arnold Schwarzenegger voice sounded in my head. Try it!

"Hah-hah! Youz alwayz crackers me up, Elizabet."
"You need ze rest. I vill vash. Vat az you stinking?"

Do you now understand why the Terminator now permanently lives in my brain?

gif

Everytime I read a book, I try to relate myself to the main character. These are the similarities that I found with Lucy/Elizabeth:

ME: Hi there! So, what are your favourite movies?
L/E: My Favourite movies are... The Bourne Movies, The Heat, Bridesmaids and so on.
ME: Oh My God, really? MY Favourite movies are The Bourne Movies, The Heat, Bridesmaids and so on.
L/E: REALLY?! Then, what about.. Oh, i've got it. Have you ever been hired to be a Princess one time? Hah those were the days, right?
ME: Um, I've never been a princess before... I'd like to be one though! Hah
L/E: Oh. Maybe we're not so similar after all.
ME: Yeah. Oh Poop. See you around then?
L/E: Actually I live in a mythical country, so probably not. Kay bye.

I like that the MC had a good sense of humour. She made me laugh more times than not.

"Because this was the biggest day of my new part-time job. And I indeed was the poster child for Ms. Liar, Liar, Pants-on-fire."

"'I didn't know that you wanted to date again after your beloved husband...' what was his name again? rhymed with Pervert"

"I probably resembled a Queen wannabe or a desperate contestant on The Bachelor"

Get yo sass on GIIIIRL

gif

Also the hot, badass, hot Prince who was hot with nice eyes and was hot wasn't so bad either

"(The Flight Attendant said) "I'm tasked with delivering the unpleasant news that the doo-hickey that connects to the what-ha-ma-call-it has separated."
"Not the doo-hickey?" I asked.
"Crap," Nick said. "Not the what-cha-ma-call-it?"

"'No complaints. Glad to see your legs work as much as your mouth does." (Lucy/Elizabeth) said. "I can't even imagine what caused you to freeze like a popsicle."
"Your breasts," (Nick) said. "Your very beautiful breasts."

Class act.
gif

The ending to the story was so unrealistic and cliché that is was so romantic and hopeful and happy. I may have even shed a tear or two.

gif

"'Maybe Happily-Ever-Afters can really happen."

I'll hold you to that Lucy.

This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are completely my own

Part-Time Princess is a romantic comedy that is part Princess Diaries and part imposter story, (an example is slipping my mind). It was a very cute, very funny and overall very fun read. It is just the kind of light read that you can escape into for a couple of hours and come out the other end feeling happy. It wasn't perfect, but it was a lot of fun. And sometimes that is just what I am looking for in a book.

I loved the main character, Lucy! Flat out loved the heck out of her. She was nice and funny and spunky. She made the story for me. She is falling on hard times, having just lost her job and only way to pay for the mental health care her uncle needs. She has had to grow up quickly, so when this mysterious job offer comes around, she can't say no. She was not given a whole lot of information to go on, and that kind of bugged me. She was told that she would be impersonating a lady of Fredonia (made up country) for 10 days while the real Lady Elizabeth goes on a secret mission of some kind. But she wasn't given much else. Keep some prince interested in her and don't sleep with him. That was it. I thought they should have prepared her much better. It was like they were setting her up to fail. But through trial and error, which was the fun part anyway, she ended up being a wonderful lady. I loved that she became known as the lady with a heart.

The romance in the book was cute, but you really don't know where it is going until the very end. Partly because the summary says that the happy ending is an unexpected one, and partly because Pamela DuMond throws tons of curveballs at the reader to keep them on their toes. I liked that I didn't know what was going to happen until I turned the page. The actual romance was lacking a bit something to make me go from like to swoony. I liked their chemistry, but I didn't feel it 100%. It wasn't rushed or insta-love, but rather I think the issue was that there just weren't that many opportunities in the book for Lucy and her guy (I purposely don't want to use a name) to gain a good basis for falling in love because there was so much else going on. In the end, what they had was really cute and because I loved Lucy (and the guy really) so much that it didn't bother me. I just didn't swoon completely over them. But never fear, there is so much to love about Part-Time Princess. The whole cast of characters are great. I adored Lucy and her ladies in waiting. This book really has a little something for everyone. It was a really fun read.

A light-hearted, romantic comedy that leaves you wishing you were royal!

Lucy Trabbicio is an imposter! An all-American girl hired to impersonate Lady Elizabeth, royalty from Fredonia, while she is on a "business trip" to Chicago. What could possibly go wrong in their situation? Apparently a lot!
Lucy is immediately immersed in the world of royalty & finds herself being swooned by not just one prince, but two! First she meets Prince Nick, on her airplane trip from Chicago to Fredonia. Then, she meets Prince Cristoph, a playboy who apparently she's been promised to him for marriage.
Sometimes you can't help who you fall in love with. Duty says one thing but your heart says another.
And will the man of Lucy's dreams still love her after he finds out that she's no royal?

I laughed, almost cried, and fell in love with these hilarious characters! (My favorite Prince is Nick!)
I think any fan of romantic comedies or NA books will love this story as well. It was very well written and a full 5 stars from me!

I recommend Part-time Princess for those 16 and over.

Part-time Princess is a story about Lucy, one of the kindest, sweetest, most thoughtful girls you have ever met. Life hasn't always given her an easy ride and now to top it all off she has lost her job and is in desperate need of a new one.

Cue a vague add on Daveslist, the oddest interview ever, and a couple of weeks of training for the new job. To impersonate Lady Elizabeth Billingsley for a couple of weeks until she can tie up lose ends in the states and make her way back to Fredonia to marry Prince Christoph Timmel. She can do this, plus she will be rewarded with a "Kings Ransom".

Things don't quite go to plan in Freedonia with unexpected players, death threats, royal politics and Prince Christoph bumping up the time table.

I really enjoyed this, it was fun and bubbly. Lucy was one of the most adorable characters you will ever meet, there were outrageously fabulous, and very funny Ladies in waiting. It was quick to read, exceedingly sweet, funny and had me laughing out loud. I will definitely be checking out more of this author.

Part-time Princess was a fun, easy read that had me laughing out loud and enjoying every minute of the story.

Lucy is a young woman who has recently lost her job and is struggling to find money to pay for the care of her only living relative when she responds to an intriguing job ad it leads her on a crazy adventure to the country of Fredonia where she finds herself impersonating Lady Elizabeth Billings. Throw in a two handsome princes, some hysterical ladies-in-waiting, crazy royal relatives, a cute puppy, an awkward wedding situation and you have a recipe for a great book!

I thoroughly enjoyed Part-time Princess I read it quickly, laughed and swooned a lot and now can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I really liked this book. It's a smart and funny rom-com. And let's face it, what female doesn't dream of being a princess and swept off her feet by a handsome prince. PART-TIME PRINCESS has heart and sass and romance. Pamela DuMond's characters are likeable. Lucy is hysterical as the 'acting' princess who finds herself in one tangled mess after another. And Nick is just what any girl could want in a handsome hunk who always shows up in time to rescue our hapless heroine. I especially got quite a few laughs from "Lady Elizabeth's" (Lucy) ladies in waiting. I hear there are more books in the planning for this series. I am looking forward to reading more.

And now I want to get a part-time job as a princess just like Lucy! Well, who wouldn't?
After got fired from her last job because she was defending her co-worker, Lucy got to find another job so she can still pay for her uncle's life comfort. And then she got this job vacancy, called for an interview in a luxury hotel, and then she got the job! She had no idea that she got to impersonate Lady Elisabeth from Fredonia. And her struggle to act as a princess in Fredonia is really fun and entertaining to read.

I recommend this book to any of you who loves princess' story or in need of a light and fun reading! ^^

Even when you know it’s meant to be a summer beach read, I would expect a bit more from a book.
It was silly, too far fetched and ridiculous.

Spoiler - The people of Fredonia must really have some shitty rulers if they wanted to give her “their heart” after hugging a few kids and being nice to a few people.

Meh, characters were OTT, writing was mediocre and story raced too fast without giving the reader time to enjoy the ride. No character development and a ridiculous ending.

What's a girl to do when a man is being an asshat? She dumps a pitcher of beer over his head, of course. But when you are a waitress and do that to a customer, you are suddenly not a waitress anymore.

Lucy, the ex-waitress, needed money to keep her uncle in an assisted living center so she took a part-time job impersonating Lady Elizabeth Billingsley of Fedonia. Lady Elizabeth had to be away on urgent private business. Not wanting anybody to know, she hired Lucy to fill in for her. Lucy also had to keep Prince Cristoph interested in Elizabeth which was no easy task when the Prince was known as The Playboy Prince for good reason.

This job was only for 10 days, so, needing the money, Lucy agreed to do it. Besides, she got a free makeover and two of Elizabeth's staff would be with Lucy to advise her at all times. But things didn't go according to plan.

I enjoyed this romantic fairy tale. It was fun watching Lucy be transformed into a Lady. She had to learn to walk and act properly. I chuckled when she practiced her royal wave on people. Her Ladies-in-Waiting were great. They were strong, smart women who were a tremendous help to Lucy. As was Mr. Phillips. Even with all these people in her corner, things didn't always go well for Lucy. Like when someone tried to kill her (Elizabeth). Then there were the two Princes. Lucy was falling for Nick but she was supposed to be interested in Cristoph - or Elizabeth was because she was promised to him at birth.

This is a funny story but it has a lot of troubling scenes, too. The terrific ending helped to make this a winner.

When you life falls apart and you hit rock bottom with others depending on you to take care of them what will you be willing to do to make that happen? Lucy had to ask herself that question she finds she does have limits as she crosses off one ad after another until one catches her eye, she applies and is given the job. It sounds so easy but as we know things never come easy for Lucy it is no different. She is pulled into a world wind of royalty, lies and deceit which add tons of humor that will make you laugh out loud along with a few OH MY’s. One man chases her, another wants to marry her but neither know she is impersonating Lady Elizabeth. One wants her for what she brings to the table the other wants her because he is attracted to her. Only one can win the hand of the lovely Lady Elizabeth or maybe neither. First Lucy must get through this mess for a week or two until Elizabeth comes home. One week adds to another and then another until you have one big mess that leads to a wedding you don’t want to miss.

The narrator does a good job at narration, at times she does seem child like. When Lucy is in character I would have thought she would have had the airs and tones of Elizbeth but when she is talking she has her own voice which was a little confusing at first. She does have great character voices, once I got past Lucy keeping her voice I always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. Her male voices were as nice as her female ones. Her tones and emotions were pretty good it didn’t take you long to start laughing as Lucy got into one mess and then another. The narrator really bought this to light giving a good listen. There are no background noises, no repeating of words and if any breaks were taken I could not tell. She did have me hook as she portrayed Lucy and her mixed emotions of being Elizabeth trying to be more like her but slipping up and being herself. All in all she made the listen enjoyable and kept me smiling and laughing.

The author gives you a delightful tale of mixed feelings, uneasiness as one women takes on a nation trying to be their princess. She fools so many but at the same time they know something is different. It isn’t easy to lie to so many you have come to love. I thought the author really put some time and thought into this story giving a compelling listen that holds your attention and keeps you laughing and at times on edge. There are a few heart stopping moments as danger comes near. The twists and turns are a delight but at times I thought it was a little long. She does keep the story interesting and at times your heartbreaks why at other times your throat is in your mouth waiting to see the outcome. First one prince pulls her in and then another. I did enjoy the mystery of Nick the handsome hunk who is a big flirt. I loved the scenes on the plan and in the park. I will tell you this one you will fall deeply in love with one man who wants Elizbeth and not so much with the other one. I really enjoyed the many different characters they add so much to the story. It was well worth your time and is totally enjoyable. The ending is heartbreaking and then the author twists it around making you smile big and loving every bit of it.

Class and sass equal out to pizzazz...
Lucy is an imaginative and fiesty character. She's a scrapper. Not afraid of hard work, but despite her station in life, she never loses her sense of humor. I love this character. Modern meets and delivers age old. Easy to love. Hard to forget.

A solid 4.5. I enjoyed the story although it was very similar to Hallmark movies and some other royal books I’ve read. Lizzie and Nick were a great couple, though, and the bit of mystery was fun, so even while predictable, I really enjoyed it!

What a fun read.

Lucy looses her job and gets another. This one thought is different in that she is pretending to be Elizabeth. Elizabeth is the girlfriend of a crown Prince but has to stay in America for a couple of weeks longer. Lucy goes back in Elizabeth's place and so many things happen.
Will Lucy survive until Elizabeth gets there, Will Elizabeth go back back?

I would recommend this book.
