Tiger's Den: Black Wolves

Milo, the Black Wolves’ omega wolf, always stayed on the sidelines. He’s a hacker – not a badass. Hell, he can’t even get laid, much less play the part of a dangerous gang member.

But, in order to stop an ongoing gang war, Milo is unceremoniously thrust into the middle of the Tiger’s den as a nark (for the cops) and a spy (for the Black Wolves). Not to mention the dead sexy Tiger leader, Xian Fei, insists Milo stay by his side at all times. For protection purposes, of course. Milo’s not even sure if he’s gay, but Fei makes his stomach do backflips, and his cock – well, that’s another story.

Yeah, the omega is pretty sure he’s fucked, and he likes it. A lot.

Fei clawed his way to the top of the Tigers after years of serving the desires of others. He’s close to ruling his gang in peace, if he can protect the hot little wolf in his care. Problem is – Fei’s not sure he can keep his paws off Milo. While Fei plays the confident leader, he’s hiding a dark past and a vicious secret.

Milo’s the only one who can break Fei’s cool – the only one who can bring the tiger to his knees.

Passion burns between Fei and Milo, but will the lies and twisted loyalties tear them apart before they find a happy ending?

Tiger's Den: Black Wolves

Milo, a fast talking, too much redbull, hacker working within the both sides of the war. He's a great character who is smart, lovable, but a little naive. He has mad computer skills and uses them to keep a watch on the pulse of everything. Including a certain tiger-shifter that rocks his world in more than one way.

Fei is the tiger-shifter who sets out to make sure his gang of tigers comes out on the right side of this war. A task not made easy with the interference of a certain hacker.

Milo’s HEA was not who I had originally guessed for him

Beyond the normal paranormal suspension of disbelief, this series sometimes stretches it with expecting you to buy into 3 shifters forming a gang to fight all of the other gangs in the city as teenagers, and succeeding. We are asked to believe that these three became a feared gang without anyone clueing into the fact that only two of them were EVER seen.

And yet, I love this series. It has fun twists and developments that are a joy to discover, and rediscover.

Good shifter erotic story

Omega Milo absolutely charming character, outspoken honest and desperate for affection. Possibly high point of whole series. But too explicit sex, violence, and proofreading problems hurt series for me. You you're and misspellings of unusual and old fashioned words like dour are not as bad as some books but spell checkers are not as good as hiring a spelling bee 🏆.

Fei and Milo are maybe the most adorable pair of shifters in this series. Happy to see the gang stuff mostly resolved. Some of the end action got a little confusing for me, but that's mostly a me thing. I'm not great at following action sequences.

Fun read

Even the corky nerd can find love. The one everyone has a difficult time understanding but he's to genuine to mean too. Oh but the tiger has just the right heart to embrace him. Love it...Great series. Start from beginning that way familiar with characters. Will not disappoint.

The poor writing got so annoying I've sworn off this author. Really. Littered with grammatical errors, typos and general sloppiness. Does the author really not know the difference between `phase' and `faze' or when to capitalize a title? Or when to use the past tense? The sheer number of "you're" instead of "your" and typical typos might have set publishing records in this series. The earlier books at least were better, the vast amount of egregious errors at least compensated by an interesting story and fairly decent world-building. I liked the earlier characters. The first couple of books which focussed on the detectives (Detective Alwen and Seth, note the capitals) were actually terrific. This one is just atrocious, The dialogue is silly, with Milo apparently appearing to be somewhere between a seven year old and a teenager most of the time. Unconvincing plot, and unlikable and uncomfortable characters, with nothing to alleviate the cumulative awfulness of it all.

I won this book as part of a Goodreads Giveaway.

I wouldn't normally pick this kind of book off a shelf but I chose to enter this Giveaway because I wished to explore different genres of books. I am pleasantly surprised to say that I quite like this book. It is well written and has an interesting story line, as well as engaging characters, that kept me reading to the last page. The fact the story was seen through the eyes of two of the characters (switching between the two though out) was a refreshing change from the conventional way of telling a story through the eyes of only one character. I myself am not a homosexual but I still enjoyed this book, so I would encourage anyone (homosexual or heterosexual) to give this book a go.

Needing this book for a Bingo Challenge, I neglected to pay attention to the "#5 in a series" designation. That was a mistake for me. Sometimes, I can jump into the middle, but this one took longer to get up to speed than was comfortable.

Our MCs, an Omega wolf shifter and an Alpha(?) tiger are working together in a labrynthian plot to ... .well.... It's complicated. Every character in the story, and there are a bajillion of them, has multiple motives, plots, and allegiances. Figuring out who's going to screw who over next seems to be the biggest challenge.

I'll give for author bonus points for coming up with an HFN out of this plot, but the heat was lacking. Kudos for Milo, though. He was an awesome Omega character.

I think this is my favorite book out of this series so far.. I loved loved loved Milo ..he was so sweet and had such this innocent disposition about himself I just loved him.. And I felt Fei as well .. I felt all his emotions and understood his hatred for Mao.. It was also good to see the rest of the gang as well.. Milo is defiantly my favorite of pack!! I recommend this book and the series!!!

Same Comment for all the books in this series

I got the first book free and now I keep buying them. I think I'm addicted because the more books I read, the better they get. This is a series and it's better to read them in order but there are no cliffhangers, just good characters that have stories I want to read.

I liked this installment better than the first. It would be nice to see Jin next perhaps? The cover is not good in my opinion though; I took Milo to get a short haired nerdy type and Fei to have the long black hair (but he is Asian) so I ignored that and used my imagination.

I thought this was going to be my favorite of the series, and it really was for most of its beginning, but then some of the scenes by the end escalated in a way that felt really lost of thought and bland.

Up to the meeting at the church, after the private dinner with Jin, I was really enjoying the book, but after that scene some scenes turned really childish and naive and I ended up forcing myself to finish the book because they'd left a bad taste in my mouth. Ideas are dismissed too blandly, conversations are had too fast and they lack substance. A lot of scenes seem to lack substance and needed more feeling. Oh, and there are a lot of grammar errors, a lot, and it was sort of hard to read at those times (though I'm not sure if the book was edited or if it was self-published without outsider proofing, so I'm not that hung up about that particular detail).

The worst part (and one of the bad few, but it was so heavy it almost ruined it in its entirety for me) of the book was the constant homophobia, biphobia elements whatever you want to call it. "I'm not gay"; "You're not gay!" "I don't like labels" are some of the horrible few, and considering the events that happened before they were said it got to a point when it was bordering on ridiculous. (I mean, dudes have sex and one of them says "You're not even gay" and the guy doesn't even contradict him or say anything like "Maybe I'm bi" or just...Anything. Anything). The latter one is the worst solution that M/M authors find to justify the fact a man who's never been attracted to another, suddenly is. Folks, bisexuality is a thing that's real and it's not a disease let's not be afraid to say its name like it's foul and deadly, okay? Jesus.

Anyways, that fucking threesome was one of the hottest things I've read in M/M in a while, HOLY HELL, did I love that scene!

I'm guessing it's going to be a present theme in the series that at least one of the main couple has to have "on-screen" sex with another person which ahhh, I didn't really enjoy reading in the first two books (because, what was the point?) but in this one it saved my life, honestly. It was honestly hotter than the main couple's sex (and isn't that funny, my god) and my only wish was that they'd ended up in a fantastic polyamorous relationship by the end. (It didn't happen but by now I'm pretty much used to the disappointment the M/M genre provides me, ah!)

Although! The part where Milo and Fei "switched" opened a lot of doors. Finally a bit of versatility in my reads (a versatile couple in a M/M book that I read, what an honor), when I realized this was about to happen, I almost cried tears of joy.

I think one of the strongest parts of the author, in this series (since I haven't read others) is the build up, the unresolved sexual tension and the small bits of pining and angst. I'm such a sucker for all of those, and even though sometimes the climax of that build up is not as captivating as I imagined (like the moment of "finally! they kissed!" seems a bit misplaced sometimes in this and earlier books) it's still the build up I live for. I think mostly that's what keeps me on this series so much.

I'm just going to finish up by saying Milo is my son and he needs to be protected at all costs. On to the next one, I can't wait to see Jin as a main character!!

I liked Milo a lot, with his ramblings and honesty and willingness to do what he can to help. And I liked Fei too, even though I wasn't so sure of him in the beginning. But mostly I'm hoping that this is the end of the story about all the gangs and that this series is moving on to something else now. Because three books about the gangs and I'm just kinda over it.

Love little Milo

So optimistic and bubbly. Honest and sweet and his mouth runs a mile a minute, which is so adorable. Who wouldn't love him?! Fei is a great character which I mentioned in the last book. Up next is Rory the fire mage which we met in book one and two with Seth and Connor.
