my daughter absolutely loves this series. we read a chapter or two a night and the books are just perfectly laid out for that. While the story didn't grasp me as well as it could, I can definitely see it being beloved by kids. very enjoyable installment in a cute (girl powered) series

Kate and Lucie are best friends who love dogs. They can't own dogs ... but they can turn into dogs! By virtue of a magical dog bone charm necklace, the friends turn into dogs by giving each other a high five, and with a "woofa-woof" they become dogs. The friends help the owners of a new hot dog shop search for their lost dachshunds Ketchup and Mustard, and have various other adventures that require turning back and forth from girls to dogs. A lighthearted early chapter book with cute black and white illustrations. Being safe with dogs is incorporated into the story, and "bonus materials" at the end include jokes, facts and stories about dachshunds. It's not necessary to have read other books in the series to appreciate the story.

Continuing their doggone adventures as dog-loving girls with the ability to become dogs, Kate and Lucie help two new hot dog vendors find their missing dachshunds, Ketchup and Mustard, when they disappear. They also help two somewhat-annoying neighbor boys, DJ and Danny, have some fun at the town's competition to see which dogs are best behaved. I was worried for a little while that the girls might be stuck living out their lives as dogs when the boys first put leashes on them, but things get sorted out nicely. This is a funny, sweet series for readers just starting to read chapter books. The different personalities of the girls are really noticeable here.

This is a part of the Ready, Set Dogs! Series. My niece is a huge lover of dogs. The entire time I was reading this book I put myself in her shoes. Oh My!!!! How any dog lover would eat up this bookThese 2 darling girls Kate and Lucy love dogs. They found matching pink dog necklaces. When they put them together they themselves become dogs. There adventures include a Bark in the Park event and helping out a hot dog stand owner with a crisis. This quick read is perfect for the emerging reader just moving into chapter books. Incredibly cute and “dogilicious.”

It was about two people who had a hot-dog stand in their yard, and the two girls got hot dogs, and the people had their pet dogs, so it's kind of like a trick: HOT. DOGS. and, their dogs were hot.
