Willow Rhoswen is finally coming to terms with the fact that Talisen—the man she thought was the love of her life—has left town, when his new superhuman drug becomes toxic and people's lives are on the line. Now she has to go after him before it's too late.
But when she gets to her home town of Eureka, California, Willow learns the truth of her brother's death and once again finds herself in a power struggle between her brother's murderer and the Cryrique vampires of New Orleans. With only her wolf, Link, and herself to count on, Willow's determined to end the political war once and for all, all while saving her friends and getting her happily ever after.
Deanna is a native Californian, transplanted to the slower paced lifestyle of southeastern Louisiana. When she isn't writing, she is often goofing off with her husband in New Orleans, playing with her two shih tzu dogs, making glass beads, or out hocking her wares at various bead shows across the country. I really wanted to like this series. Deanna Chase is a great author and love her other series. From the beginning of this series I hated Willow! I found her to be very whiny and irritating. She was a weak character, who always wanted to be seen as a strong woman but always ended up needing rescue. Tal never seemed to develop as a character, he seemed 2 dimensional through out the series. I did like David and felt he truly loved Willow and was saddened with the ending. Wont give up on you Deanna! Youre still one of my fav author!!
I really liked the first book, the second book was ok, and this one was blah. I never liked Willow, however I was a huge fan of Phoebe, Tal, and David. Phoebe was barely featured in this book, and didn't get her own storyline. I was really disappointed by that. Tal and David were in the book a lot, but they were mostly just there to alternate between saving Willow, fighting over Willow, and confessing their undying love. Willow was her usual annoying whiney self, and spent way to much of this book crying. The end was a little to convenient, and I really don't see how everyone lived happily ever after. I find it very hard to believe that word never got out about Willow's ability and Vampires the world over aren't hunting her down to turn them into daywalkers. There were simply to many opportunistic bad guys in this series for me to buy that no one told someone outside of Allcot and Asher's circles for profit.
I was disappointed in this final installment. I found Willow annoying and petty. She wanted to be strong and independent, but yet was in continual need of rescuing. I really liked Phoebe, and Loved David. I just didn't get the ongoing hidden lovefest between Willow and Tal. She spent all that time with him, in the first book and returned home, and it wasn't until Tal showed up and saw her getting in touch with David , that he got jealous and seemed to want her. He never gave that impression when she was at her mother's farm. Willow seemed to forgive Tal for the very same things she despised David for.
this was a great way to end the series and I'll admit I had cried happy tears at the end. I really do hope Mrs. Chase will make another I'd like to know what happens with Willow and Tal and the others.
To me, this 3 book series was really like one great big saga broken into 3 pieces. They are not really stand alone books. The first 2 are dark as the Void investigators Phoebe, a witch, and Willow, a fae, run down rogue vampires. But then they start to unravel a long standing feud between two master vampires. Willow becomes embroiled in the fight as her own family and past play a prominent role in the feud. Enemies come from everywhere, including the Void where Willow works. It is a dark story until the third book when we finally have clarity of relationships and enemies, and a long awaited resolution to the conflict. I have to admit it was tough getting through the first two books. Not that they were boring or slow. Just the opposite. A lot happened and the pace was fast. But it seemed the bad guys were winning and nobody could be trusted. The third book was worth the wait. It had a fantastic ending, and happiness seemed to be the reward for all the pain and anguish.
I wish this story was about Phoebe as she is a much more compelling character. Really the book could have followed any other character. I read this series because I was interested in the story, but reading the flakey idiotic thoughts of the main character was grating. She is hot-tempered and ready to storm into situations despite reiterating throughout the series that she can't fight, is small and weak, and has no defensive magic.
Every other scene seems to involve her being kidnapped or hurt or compelled. I have never talked back in frustration to an audiobook so much. Also, it was hard to get too invested in the love triangle because you get the impression throughout that Willow will change her mind about what she wants multiple times anyway. Also the ending suuuucccckkkkeeed. The tidy conclusion was stupid.
I wanted to finish this series before I wrote my review. I was not able to finish the third book, but did skip to the end to see if I agreed with how it was going to turn out. I would've written a different ending, but it's not my book. I didn't miss anything important by not reading those chapters.
I read someone's review before I started the second book. She wrote that she did not like the main character. I don't know why that is, except that she's self-centered, self involved, and basically insufferable. Some of the other characters are really good and likable, perhaps too likable.
The premise was promising. If you are looking for a book series that is not one with which you are familiar, this may fill the bill. If nothing else, it should remind you why you have favorites that you reread happily. I do not think this will be one.
Though I love all of the other books I’ve read by this author, the third and final book in this series was not my favorite. The heroine was really grating on my nerves. Her inability to decide between her two loves was getting a bit trying. Flip flopping between the two was getting ridiculous.
Caught in in the middle of a war between two vampire lords, Willow Roswyn spends most of her time mooning over her situation with vampire David, her ex-boyfriend, and Talyson, her childhood crush and best friend and sometime boy friend. When she’s not doing that, she is still at the mercy of the Void. She discovers vampires she can’t sense and doesn’t understand why.
In the final entry for this series, we learn what happened to her brother and all the sordid details of Vampire Ashers’s plan and obsession.
While not the best of the three books, it does bring the series to a satisfying end.
The third book of the Crescent City Fae does not disappoint. Like the previous books we follow Willow in this crazy journey of hers. I absolutely loved this book. So much great things happens. This was the perfect ending to the book and I feel like the author did a fabulous job ending this series. It was bittersweet but I truly felt like everyone got their well deserved ending, especially David, Tal, Willow, and Beau. I listened to the audiobook and I enjoyed it immensely. Highly recommend. If you love the Fae and vampire world I would recommend that you pick this series up.
The main character, Willow, isn't very smart, and she puts herself and those around her in danger, but her not being perfect and badass lends a certain realism to the story. I love her supporting characters though. Besides Phoebe (who has a little less active roll in this book than the last one) and Tal (who has a much bigger role in this book), I really enjoy the scenes with Allcot, David, and the rest of the crew. This book has a lot of exciting moments and a REALLY good ending.
These books got worse over time, and if this wasn't the final item in the series, I think I may have DNF'ed. Willow is just so frustrating and dense, and the architect of all her own misfortunes. If she had any brain or impulse control, the book would be over in half the stress. I also never really bought the End Game relationship - I'm glad there was a HEA for all the main characters, but it almost felt shoehorned in, instead of building real connections.
A good ending to the trilogy. I liked how the author tied most of the storylines up. A fun trilogy full of fae, witches, vampires, and the most adorable shitzu that turned into a fierce wolf. Urban Fantasy, not much in the romance but a lot of slow burn and fade to black. Loved Willow and Phoebe's relationship and how they would do anything for each other. Four glittery stars!
The story is great the main character Willow is a great journey. Starts off by being a very passive and winey but through each book her character starts evolving to a no holds bar person no longer being a weak winey fea to a take charge but she never loses who she is inside just more confident. Great job!
Wow! This is the third book in the Crescent City Fae series and is full of action and suprises. Willow repeatedly shows how strong she is by believing in herself and not taking the easy way out. While she did not end up with the man I had been hoping for, she did get a hea with HER perfect match, so I can't complain. A great ending to a great series!
Audiobook review- Plenty of action and twists to keep my wayward attention! The crew is back as well as the paranormal politics. The characters are likable and entertaining. The storyline is interesting. The narrator did a great job. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This is probably personal preference but I struggled with this series. It was enjoyable enough to finish but by the third book the love triangle was a bit tedious. There seemed to be a repetitive loop of the FMC needing healing but insisting she didn’t need to be rescued all the time I didn’t particularly like either of the MMCs and would have preferred she binned them both off
I finally got around to finishing out this series. I have to admit that it wasn't the best read I've ever had, and it did skip through the plotline a little too fast and haphazardly, but it really did tie up any lose plot lines we had. I'm glad Willow finally ended up with Tal.
The plot, people etc. we’re great but this third book is especially rife with typos! All the books have several, but there’s one on nearly every page of this one. It’s Extremely distracting.
I was excited to read the conclusion of Willow's story. Overall, it tied up the loose ends nicely. I was very disappointed at the number of typos and grammatical errors. I started marking them half way through and found over 30.
Upfront, I received this book as an audible promo, and Deanna Chase is one of my favorite authors.
I love this book from start to finish... and that willow, tal, and David all get their happy endings. Hate to see the series end. Can hardly wait for Bo Jr to grow up.
Absolutely loved this series so very much! Willow is an amazing character as well as the others in this book. Allcot has more of a heart than he lets on and that is due to Pandora. Love Phoebe!
Page turner from the start. Not everything is as it seems. Double agents, hidden agendas and murder. Great conclusion to Willow's stories. No cliffhanger. Can't wait to read about Phoebe, her best friend.
Not bad. a pleasant enough journey thru love both romantic and family. strong female characters and an adorable shape-shifting dog. and a very lovely conclusion
