As a child, Cathy Marie Hake had an imaginary playmate. Now "grown up," she indulges in a host of imaginary friends as she writes. She teasingly says she decided if those voices in her head were talking, she might as well write down what they said and make a living by doing it. She met her sweetheart in the High School department at church and married him after finishing nursing school. They live in Southern California and have two children and two dogs (one of them even moos - one of the dogs that is, not the kids). Faith in God, a loving family, and a wacky sense of the ridiculous keep her going.

Known for surfing across the kitchen on a dropped dill pickle slice, waterskiing on sea anemone spit, and using Right Guard® as hair spray; she considers herself living proof that God does, indeed, possess a healthy sense of humor.

Cathy loves classical music, romantic getways with her husband, and Diet Pepsi Free®. "I need chocolate to survive, love my friends, and enjoy a deep personal relationship with the Lord. Although an extrovert, I'm very conservative on a personal level."

In her writing, Cathy attempts to capture a unique glimpse of life and how a man and woman can overcome obstacles when motivated by love. In her inspirational pieces she enjoys the freedom of showing how Christ can enrich a loving couple's relationship.

The first two stories are written by Comeaux. Two women who consider themselves unlovable are surprised when the minister and sheriff fall in love with them despite their looks and past.

The next three stories are written by Hake. Three brothers from Scotland arrive in Texas to find women whose wounded spirits can only be healed by love.

I think this was my favorite novella collection yet. The two story lines were fun, entertaining, and sweet. But the authors also wove redemption, romance, and captivating plot to make really enjoyable stories that left me thinking about how I treat those around me. This book isn't just a romantic story, it's also a book that will make you look inside yourself to see what things might be keeping you from truly loving others.

I received this book free of charge from Barbour Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. I loved that despite the fact that life was imperfect, they kept on going. The characters did not give up, even when it was hard. They relied on their faith and their family. This collection is one of my favorites and I will be reading this collection a second time very soon.

What an amazing collection!!!! i had so much fun reading it... The three brothers new beginning in the lonestar state isn't just fun but very touching and inspiring. Each story has its own spiritual message that will touch you beyond the fun read. But its not just those three stories, for this book contains five complete novels, the other two are just as intriguing and fun, i especially loved the book about Patience. and I was really hoping that there will be a book about Bobby Joe and Susannah they seem to have a load of trouble mixed with attraction between them.
Excellent collection, I adore Barbour Publishing for the collections the collections they publish, they have a way of connecting stories to bring out the most in them. I totally recommend it to all fans of historical fun romance. you need to lift your spirits with something clean, inspiring, realistic and historical? you got yourself a gem in this collection.

Inspiring interconnected stories of women who are broken, bruised and battered by life. Combine them with a family of Scottish immigrant men who live true and love the Lord and you have some wonderful reading ahead of you! Reverend Caleb Stone goes against the town busybodies to court a "fallen woman" wrongly accused. Plain Patience Primrose never felt loved by anyone, would sheriff Lee Stone ever see past that plain exterior? Crippled Carmen Rodriguez knew she would never have children of her own, who would marry a crippled woman? So she cares for others children and for all those she sees have a need, often at the expense of her own needs. Cobbler Duncan Stone wants to give her the shoes she needs to walk easier, but she refuses anything she thinks is charity. Watch as each story unfolds and leads into the next. A wonderful, uplifting read.

A delightful and enjoyable book. I loved how the stories were intertwined with one another and the under lining theme that through our Savior, Jesus Christ, we can all be made whole. There were times I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. Then times I couldn't wait to see what would happened. I loved this book. I think of all the books I've read, this my very favorite. Thanks to the wonderful authors.

Adult and Intense

Unless you feel like explaining to someone about rape and prostitution, I do not recommend this book for 14-18 years old. It deals with those matters with tact and sensitivity. It was beautiful to read about acceptance, redemption, forgiveness, and not letting the past drag you down. The overall message is about focusing on who someone is now, not what their past was.

Light Read

Hake is the best writer. The first two were a bit too laborious to get through, too much telling, not enough revealing. Hake’s witty dialogue fills the last three stories.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This romance book contains five wonderful stories. The first two are by author Kimberley Comeaux. In One More Chance, and Courtin’ Patience, Rachel Branigan and Patience Primrose never expected to find love and marry, but when a preacher and a sheriff comes along, they both change their minds mighty quick. Both of these stories were fun and enjoyable, and I thoroughly enjoyed both Novella’s.

The next three stories are by Cathy Marie Hack. These stories are prior books of Ms. Hack’s but I hadn’t read them, so I was happy for the chance. These three Novella’s are about three brothers that find love, in a unique way. You will have to read the book to get the full enjoyment of the stories. I love the comical side of Ms. Hack and the way she places these brothers in a quest finding their women. The stories are fun and enjoyable, and funny, with a lot of laughs. If you love historical and funny stories, this is one you need to read!

I love the fact that I can read one of these stories in one sitting! So if you don’t have time for a full blown book to read, this would be an awesome alterative for you. I highly recommend this book to anyone who just loves to read a good clean book!

I received this book from Barbour Books to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

This was a great collection and I absolutely adored the first two stories by Kimberley Comeaux, but unfortunately, I didn't care for the last three at all. One More Chance, and Courtin' Patience were lovely stories and I gave both 5/5 stars. Every character had their flaws, but through God they were redeemed. It was wonderful stories of love of all sorts.
On the other hand, To Love Mercy was incredibly boring. I was bored the entire book, and sadly I didn't enjoy her writing style at all. I think the fact that everyone was Scottish had something to do with it. I just didn't click with any of her stories. Although, the last two, To walk Humbly and To Do Justice, got right into the romance and were a little bit better.
I gave all of Cathy Marie Hake's stories 2 stars. (To Love Mercy, To Walk Humbly, and To Do Justice).
Overall, the first two stories were amazing, but the last three didn't sit with me.

I enjoyed these novellas overall, although I discovered that I preferred the writing style of Cathy Marie Hake over Kimberly Comeaux which came off as a little cheesy. Despite the fact that the majority of the stories involve either a rape, attempted rape, unwed pregnancy, or prostitution, they are full of hope, redemption, forgiveness, and unconditional love. The connection between the tales of the Gregor brothers was nice since they wove together and made me feel like I was reading a whole book instead of three separate stories. I appreciated that each brother was unique as an individual but shared a heritage of strong family values and loyalty.

I absolutely adore all of Cathy Marie Hake's books especially the ones in this book! All of them were wonderful and it will be a book I read over and over again. For anyone that loves romance books that are clean this is one you must read. My family got irritated with me several times when I squealed or jumped from my seat when I was reading this. It is a must read by far!

Enjoy this delightful collection of western romances, heavily endowed with creative story lines and wonderful characters. The Gregor brothers in particular, though a little rough around the edges, managed to make three women very, very happy with their love of family, intrinsic sense of honor and integrity; not to mention their Highland sense of humor.

*******SPOILER ALERT*********

Two of the stories have women that were raped and are carrying the child. I guess this sort of jaded the rest of the stories for me. However, the last story was kind of funny. I did enjoy that one.
