I'm upping from 4 to 5 stars after a reread. I also plan to read the remaining three books in the series as part of my 2023 challenge. It is really that good of a debut.

This was one of those books that I found myself struggling to read through. I did not like the hero and found the pacing / development of romance to be a bit on the slow side. I've read a few books by Kathryn Albright that I did enjoy, however, this novel did not do all that much for me.

The book is pretty good, but the cover art is completely misleading. This is not a pioneer book.

I wasn't expecting much, but even then it really didn't live up to my expectations. I was truly hoping for something corny and maybe a little about redemption or healing. There wasn't much of anything there, in either characters or story. I also had a hard time believing that after everything she still maintained her position and her reputation. The book just ok and I was more than willing to post it on paperbackswap.

Just could not really get into this book. Just didn't care about the characters. The plot seemed real weak. And I know it has nothing to do with the story really but it takes place in San Diego at a lighthouse and the cover with the river and the prairie schooner have nothing to do with the story.

This is a really sweet Romance. Kathryn Albright is local to my area and a sweetheart of a woman. I love her books and recommend them to all fans of Romance.
