Kenina, the fire goddess of Osarious, seems to have it all—a pampered life, the power to burn down a city, and a father who reigns over the other gods, but deep inside the flame, Kenina feels trapped. As her arranged marriage to Neveresis, a water god, draws nearer, she has no choice but to flee the immortal world to escape the commitment, even if it means disappearing into a world she despises.
Together with Sarah, her faithful servant, Kenina crashes into the mortal world, ending up in Nevada, where she and Sarah are taken in by Jack, a mortal who shows Kenina there is much more to life than she thinks, including love.
There’s only one problem, Neveresis refuses to let Kenina go, and he will do anything to reclaim his prized possession, even if it means destroying her and the ones she loves.

Review:5 stars ****Pre-release review***
General: I absolutely have to start with the cover; it is beautiful and amazing and one of my favorites! It really set the bar high and then the back blurb continued to impress! The book didn't disappoint either. From the beginning I was captivated wanting to know more about Kenina and Neveresis from their explosive beginning. The plot was fast paced and never felt rushed. I wished this short was a full novella! I can't wait to see what the other gods and "elements" will bring to the series.
However while the plot was strong and the characters amazing the best part of this book were the descriptions themselves. The world was wonderfully set up and I could easily picture and place myself within it form the desert of Nevada to the fire and water powers that were often used between father and daughter. The descriptions also helped to amp up the tension and growing desire and relationship between Kenina and Neveresis.
Characters: Kenina- Kenina I honestly didn't like for 95% of the book. She was wonderfully written but she annoyed the heck out of me. She was a petulant child for the most part - taking responsibility for nothing and throwing temper tantrums at pretty much everything it seemed. I enjoyed watching her mature through the story and grow up a little. It felt very realistic and well done.
Neveresis: Neveresis was an interesting male. When you first meet him he almost seems cocky and arrogant but as you read and realize that was due to Kenina's perception of him he changes greatly. He was cocky but he was also mature, intelligent and protective. Plus his name is super cool.
*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*
This is just a novella to give you a taste of things to come and from the looks of things the full story will be delicious.
The author has done an amazing job of creating some very unforgettable characters and an interesting world for them to exist in.
My only "little" negative is that I couldn't really connect with any of them as I found most of them rather irritating a lot of the time but in an "I am just going to bitch at the characters as I read" kind of way.
I look forward to seeing where the rest of this series will take us.

This story is amazingly creative. The characters are well developed and fun. The story line is about a goddess that runs away from a prearranged marriage that she does not want. She comes to Earth to escape and ends up falling in love with a mortal man that helps her. Author Shannon Eckrich has created a beautiful story with a amazing plot. She has given her character wonderful personalities and I have been captivated from page 1. She has enough suspense, romance and intrigue to keep the reader turning pages. I loved this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series.A fabulous and original short story to be enjoyed by many.
What happens when the Ruler of the gods tells his daughter the Fire Goddess (Kennina) she must marry the god of water? She revolts and escapes to the earth with her servant.
I loved how the characters where developed and the scenes were well described. The obnoxiousness of the gods is perfect. That they think only of their needs is what I would expect.
Shannon does a great job writing about the maturing of Kenina into a caring being. Loved the twists and the fact that "Love at first sight" did not happen in this book. Great beginning, fast read!
Skillfully written, Goddess of Fire Burn, will capture your attention and not let go. This is one of those short stories where the characters stay with you long after the book is done. The author creates a believable world, likable characters and a tale of forbidden love that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I would recommend to anyone who enjoys YA paranormal with a bit of romance.
