Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home.
Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

Cute and enjoyable vacation mystery set on the island of Maui. Along with the murder and mystery, there's beautiful island scenery, treasure hunting in the deep sea, a colorful cast of characters, and a story that's interesting and fun. Plus, there's a cute dog, too.

The four friends Zoe, Zak, Ellie and Levi are going on the vacation to Hawaii which was arranged for Ellie's honeymoon. But since the wedding is cancelled the vacation will distract everyone from the bad things that have happened and brighten the moods. But of course Maui is not only fun and games. The pig in the BBQ of a big party they are invited to is replaced with a dead body....
Another great Mystery for the friends to solve.

Zoe, Zac, Ellie and Levi are vacationing in Hawaii. While attending a friend's luau they find that pig in the fire pit has been replaced with a body. Zoe thinks that the murder victim is connected to the disappearance of a local judge and two others who were on a sailing trip. This was a great entry in the series. I enjoyed this book for its scenic descriptions and well drawn characters. The murder was a twisted plot of revenge and greed, mixed with environmental issues. A great adventure, including diving for treasure!

Zoe, her boyfriend Zack, and her best friends Levi and Ellie have decided to travel to Maui to enjoy paradise and try to forget their individual woes. While there they partake in hunting sunken treasure, help in a murder investigation and Zoe tries to figure out what is killing the squirrels back home. With the suspect growing longer by the minute and the danger growing even quicker Zoe and her friends begin to question who they can trust. Even friends, old and new are keeping secrets.


Enjoy the tropical breezes and scenic vistas to be found in paradise. Kathi Daley brings it all to life for our pleasure. Zoe draws you into her daily life as she tells the story in first person. With humor and snappy dialog this story will keep your interest as the plots and twist keep you guessing. I fell in love with this series a few months ago and have looked forward to each and every book. Usually the Zoe Donovan books can be read as individuals, but Maui Madness really needs to be read after Beach Blanket Barbie to fill in the reason why each of them are in search of solace. Maui Madness can be read by itself as Ms. Daley briefly highlights past events, but I am a firm believer in reading a series in its entirety so that you can see how characters and their inner-relationships develop as the series progress.


Pick up a copy of Kathi Daley's Zoe Donovan series and binge. You will roller-coaster on emotions but your love for the series will never diminish.

Maui Madness by Kathi Daley was a great cozy read. Since I've read all the other books in the Zoe Donovan Mystery series, I was a little concerned that this book would not be taking place in Ashton Falls, the home town cozy setting the other books took place in. I had no reason to be concerned. The descriptive writing of the Hawaiian setting made you feel that you were actually there. The setting and traditions were characterized by someone who had first-hand knowledge of Hawaii. This added another level to the reading and made you want to be there to see for yourself where everything was taking place. The cast of characters continue to be well- developed and there were some unexpected things happening in their lives, making it a must to continue reading the series. As usual, the mystery was well thought out and not easily solved. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well-written cozy mystery. Wherever Zoe and the gangs lives take them, Kathi Daley will make it a fantastic adventure. Can't wait to read about the next chapter in their lives.

Perfect Summer read! Kathi's description of Maui made me feel like I was there, and reading her books is like getting together with old friends. Kindle Unlimited liked it but didn't love it hence 4 stars. Wasn't anything stupid such as typos or anything like that, just didn't love this.

This was such a fun vacation mystery set on Maui. Murder, adventure and romance were all rolled into one and even a Hawaiian luau which would definitely be a memorable one for Zak and Zoe. The missing judge and his friends news story hit home for the vacationers when they found out that the judge was one who issued an injunction against a developer, and when a friend's sister's fiance ended up dead, Zoe was compelled as usual to investigate.

I've never been to Hawaii and probably won't ever go, but I've seen plenty of TV shows set there and could just picture the setting as it was described in the book. I'm sure these four friends had a hard time adjusting to life back home at Ashton Falls when they returned!

The location was beautiful! And some time spent discussing preservation vs development.

What I enjoyed:
* The new characters - Malie, Keoke and Pono seem pretty interesting. Lots of time spent scuba diving and searching for treasure.
* The islands sounded beautiful.

What could have been better:
* Zoe is incredibly nosy and I'm surprised perfect strangers put up with it. I mean who goes to search her hosts office in the middle of the night?
* The mystery was pretty blah, other than the discovery of the body as it being in the pig pit was gruesome. In fact, the mystery of the dying squirrels back home was more interesting than the one in Hawaii.

Zoe, Zac, Levi and Ellie take a trip to Maui to stay in a friend's of Zac's beachfront home. The trip was to have been Ellie's honeymoon but she and her fiance broke up , hence them all making the trip together.

As usual, Zoe steps into a mystery which sees her and Zac in danger. Zac has a question for Zoe, how will she react?

A great cozy mystery series set in Ashton Falls, by a brilliant cozy mystery author, Kathi Daley. If you like this series, try one if get others, they're all great. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

Zoe finds murder everywhere she goes

All of the fun characters on what was supposed to be Ellie's honeymoon in Maui. Finding a grisly murder victim is no way to enjoy a party, but that is Zoe's way. This mystery, as with most of Kathi Daley's, figuring out who done it was impossible. I love her books so much that I even went right on to book 8 before reviewing book 7. Now I have another book to review, then I'm on to book 9. Can't wait!

Imagine an oceanfront home in Maui for free

Zak has a friend who owns a home on the Hawaiian island of Maui and has loaned it to Zak and Zoe for two weeks. They take Ellie and Levi in an effort to help them recover from Ellie's broken engagement and Levi's ex girlfriend having been murdered. Little did they know that they would be involved in murder and mayhem. Another great story by Kathi Daley.

I discovered this series later in the publications and have just completed the first eight. I enjoyed 1 - 6 very much but did not like this one at all. The only reason I gave it one star is because I do like the series and was hopeful that the next one would be back to normal.

Eight is certainly better and I enjoyed it. I am hopeful of the remaining books in the series because I am enjoying the series. Hopeful, Hawaiian entries will not be frequent in the remaining series.

This book read like someone else wrote it.

Ellie's plans implode! Instead of a honeymoon, Ellie, Levi, Zoe, and Zak take advantage of the plans and fly to Hawaii. Along with some new friends, the group end of diving looking for a treasure ship. Of course, there are evil, greedy men committing crimes needing to be solved.
