Project StrikeForce
By: Kevin Lee Swaim
Narrated by: Patrick Freeman
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
This book is a combat/anti-terrorist book with sci-fi elements. It is super action packed and never dull. This story is about a soldier named John, a good soldier but gets screwed over by the army and he comes back to the states mentally wounded and angry. He commits a horrible crime and ends up in Gitmo. He is taken from there and experimented on and his memories erased and replaced with new ones. He is made into a super soldier. If he remembers his old life, he is a dead man.
The narration is wonderful. The narrator does an excellent job with the voices, mood and emotions. He does the crazy daughter too well, I am scared of her and I know she is not real! LOL

This was a fast-paced action thriller. There were a lot of twists and turns to keep the reader interested and guessing what was going to happen next. It combined military support, a secret government agency, advanced technology (including medical technology), and lots more. Part of the main story line was somewhat unbelievable. However, the novel is full of thought-provoking and ethical issues while the agency is working towards the greater good and safety of the many.

I am a big fan of almost anything military related, whether it be fiction or non fiction. When I added this book to my reading list I did so as a non fiction book to read in between some of the more serious and heartwarming books I've been reading lately. I was looking for some quick paced reading and a lot of action. Too say the least, I was definitely not disappointed in it in any way.

In fact, I was rather Impressed with the authors ability to make this fiction book all too often feel like I was reading a true life story of an American Soldier sent off as a young innocent child to face the horrors of war and being trained by the government to become a killing machine and then wonder why these same young men come back from years of living this "life of kill or be killed" 24/7 & most often left to learn how to cope on their own in our real world, which they no longer fit into. As a result we are often faced with many soldiers having PTSD and being too ashamed to admit it , or even unaware of why they feel so edgy and out of fit for society, unable to cope with the daily activities that are so mundane in their minds as they have been dealing with death, day in and day out, never knowing if they will live to see another day. A person can only take so much of this type of physiological strain before breaking down and unfortunately in too many cases they fall under major depression and become agitated at the slightest provocation and many times are looking for a way to turn something minor into a huge incident in their minds that can only be dealt with through the use of aggression and violence. What should we expect of them as that's all they've lived with day in and day out for years at a time; always having to remain on alert for the slightest sign of an enemy approaching so they can kill them before getting killed themselves. In their minds they are back in the deserts fighting the enemy and that's who they see standing before them, not their wife, husband, neighbor, etc but they truly believe they are being confronted by the enemy and as a result they do what they have been trained to do..hurt or kill. Then when they snap out of their illusions of war and are confronted with the horrors they just committed they fall apart often irreparably. In some extreme cases, returning soldiers may retaliate upon society in general to get back at what they believe their own government took away from them and perhaps attack/bomb a government or civilian center hoping to inflict the same pain they can't deal with upon those they feel responsible for creating the killer instinct in them.

As I read through the beginning all I could think about were all of our true military personnel that come home and are expected to just fall back into their old position within society as if the last few years of fighting and killing had never happened. It breaks my heart to think that we send these young, innocent barely adult people into situations such as the ones they are faced with, train them to be the best at killing the enemy and then when they return home we don't provide them with the much needed physiological counseling or medications they need to deal with all of the horrors they have faced; nor do we help them go on to find a job so they can feel productive.

It was at this point that my mind began quarreling back and forth between the fact that this was supposed to be a fictional story but hit so close to home that I felt as if I were reading a biographical account of a returning soldier. This actually lured me into reading long past the time I had allotted myself - which in my mind makes it a good read when you just keep saying only one more chapter.

I am not going to go into details as to what this returning soldier did to draw the attention of the government's need to capture him and "attempt to rehabilitate him" when in fact they were doing no such thing (no spoiler alert - will have to read it to find out) They instead used him as a guinea pig and experimented on him using all sorts of.untested procedures and gene manipulation in order to create "the ultimate killing machine that would be subject to their commands and used as a weapon rather than a person, further dehumanizing him rather than helping him cope with his PTSD and the effects the war had on him.

On a personal aside, I wish that we as a nation would make this a priority for all.of.our returning soldiers not matter how short a time they are in combat. Back to the enhancements that were made on and to this human being, words fail me in trying to express the vivid imagination and creativity of the author. Many seemed so within reach that you can't help.but wonder if some of them are either ready to be used by our Black Op or Special Forces, possibly already being used or are close to completion.

I will say the enhancements do exactly, if not more, then expected. But what wasn't calculated into the equation was the human factor and the ultimate impact it would eventually have on him.
Reading the various encounters was as exciting and fast-paced as I expected but I never expected to find myself so emotionally attached to.this character (for reasons which will be obvious when you read why he was chosen), but in fact I felt more emotionally attached to him than any other character in. the book, so the author did a great job turning the protagonist into the good guy that.you cheer for in the end.

I so highly recommend this book to military minded readers and can tell you as I write this that I have ready read the next book and wasjust as Impressed with it to the point that I delayed in writing this review so I could immediately start the next book. This author has me hooked.

After reading the 2nd book I had to cone back and raise my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Whenever I read a series of books I tend to hold back that final star to see if the author dies a good job in making a smooth transition from first to second book and so on. This author did just that and surely deserves the 5th star amendment made.

Happy Reading!

Brilliant novel

Kevin has fashioned a great novel, one that links fictional events with action and some scientific facts. It is a real page-turner that keeps you wanting more. The fact is . . . the basic storyline COULD just actually be there in real-time and we will never know for sure whether such black off the budget organisations really exist. In the meantime . . . enjoy!

This is a well written and exciting black ops thriller. Swaim created some interesting characters here and the ethical issues of memory manipulation are addressed to some extent. Fast paced action throughout. Solid start to the series.

Great read, fast paced terroristic novel

This book is most likely the start of a amazing series of novels regarding a top secret organization hell-bent on providing security to the United States and its allies. The character development was excellent and the characters most enjoyable with their numerous faults and more numerous strengths. I am a huge fan of this type of writing and found this to be comparable to many of the top novelists of this genre and worthy of a read.

I have found a book series that I really like.

This is the first book in the series and I am now reading the third one.

I will get all the books in this series even though I know the stories may be similar.

I like the characters and I like to see how they are going to solve the problems.

I know that John is going through a lot and I see the mental things he is going through.

Gripping, fast-paced action

Exciting story and great writing make for a on-the-edge-of-your-seat story that could be taken from today's headlines. The writer has knocked it out of the park.

Good read!

Slow in the beginning, but this book quickly grew on me. Edgy and exciting action scenes. I liked the characters and the inner conflict and turmoil they were all going through. This was an impulse buy, but I'll definitely be reading the next one in the series!

Book 1

It was action packed and believable. It portrayed the radical Jihadist way of thinking that still exists among some people still today.
No offense intended to the Muslim community, I try to respect all forms of religion and beliefs.

The character Hohn Frist is a highly flawed character used by a secret government organisation, he has committed an unspeakable act of terrorism and now has a chance at redemption. I enjoyed the story immensely and will follow his story with enthusiasm

I am sure they did not read "How to choose a suitable protector of the union" but never mind. A fast moving "if it moves kill it" type of escapism or is it really based on leaked american conspiracy theory.

Seal Team Six is probably the most advanced army trained team in the world. Whenever the army has to go to the last resort to accomplish a mission, Seal Team Six is called on to do the job. If they can’t do it, no one can. In Kevin Lee Swaim’s story, a much more advanced project is operating within the U.S army which is called “Project StrikeForce.”

In the book, the project is run by Eric Wise, a Delta Force Operator and he is assigned to train John Frist, a soldier who survived a bomb explosion while in his HMMWV. Frist is trained by actually being programmed into a more advanced human being to find the terrorist responsible for many different bombings. As Wise “trains” Frist more and more, he must overcome his own demons and he must also make sure that Frist will have no memory of his past so that he can perform his missions much easier and so that he won’t be able to reveal any classified information about the project.

I won’t give away any more details except for a few more things; this book is purely action packed. If you ever wondered what the “Expendables” looked like in print; this is how it would look. It’s also like reading a comic book with no pictures. Of course, you have to picture what’s going on in your imagination. I also want to hint about something else too. There were a lot of technical aspects with how Frist was being “trained”. This thought of mine always concerned me; with all of the technology the army has; could it actually do more harm than good? What I mean by that is when they perform technical stuff on the soldiers. Could it lead to more harm than good? As of right now, we don’t really know for sure but an entertaining clue would be to read Kevin Lee Swaim’s action packed book; “Project StrikeForce”.

A NEW WEAPON

John Crist, a man with many devil's inside, he lost a lot and want many to suffer as well as he does. Secret Agency wants him to become their private Killer.

Just a little to begin. I was happy to read this book, somehow it makes the story more interesting. Some character development is needed as well as the story. But, even though is a work in progress, I was totally happy to have another author books to follow, that's why I gave it a 4⭐

Excellent read!

The very first scene draws you in. I am not a sci-fi reader/movie watcher, however, the technology was not totally unbelievable so it intrigued me rather than alienating me. The opening scene... a bomber watching the Red Cross building. WOW. I read this in two sittings, as it was that interesting. This is not just a read for action, sci-fi, or men... as a woman, I quite enjoyed it as well. It was well formatted, contained little to no grammatical errors, and the characters were well developed---each having different speech and attitudes. I hope to read more from Mr. Swaim! Thank you, sir, for giving us some great entertainment.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book....

This is a new author to me and so glad to start reading his books. The premise is quite good. The tech speech is a little over my head but I can usually get the gist of it all. Erik is a cool guy. I get the impression that John is deeply in trouble because of his past. Wonder how Kevin will use these fellas in future stories???. Good job, Kevin.....Amarillo Turtle
