Rate this book

"Mostruoso".

Wow! A fantastic book all about exploring emotions. This excellent story describes emotions as different colours! It tells the story of a monster who has got his feelings in a muddle. Then a little girl comes along to help the colour monster sort out his colours (emotions) so that by the end of the story they are all sorted out and jarred up. I love exploring this book with children and I can’t wait to share it with more children in the future. The pop up elements of this book are amazing and really add to the character and feel of the story. The monster looks like it has been coloured in by children so it’s easily relatable for children. In a classroom setting this book could help individuals explore their feelings but you could also use it with a child to help them understand their emotions. You could ask them to draw a colour monster of their own and colour it in the different colours for their emotions. You could take it one step further and use it as an emotion regulation tool for a child who could stick his/her colour monster on a chart that the teacher and the child has access to so that the teacher could easily see how the child is feeling.

I absolutely adore this book! It tells the story of a colour monster who seems to have got his feelings in a muddle. He soon meets a young girl and together they embark on a journey, exploring all the different types of emotions. It is a truly fabulous way of encouraging children to acknowledge their emotions, alongside explaining feelings they may or may not have already experienced. I will definitely be using this in my classroom. There is so much to be discussed and learnt together.

Mądrze i zwięźle o emocjach.

Lovely book about how our emotions link to different colours. Makes emotions more accessible, and the added pop up book is really good for a more exciting read.

Read again for PSHE and as we started one of the children believed it was going to be "cringe" when in actual fact they really enjoyed it and it was great for my PSHE lesson.

Honestly, what a fantastic book - 5*

I will be reading this to my class tomorrow for PSHE live learning. A word I didn't think I'd ever utter a year ago but here we are.

This book is great for understanding emotions and realising that all these emotions are important and how to deal with them.

Brilliant book to develop children's emotional literacy and vocabulary. Used on placement to make children more aware of their feelings and how their actions can make other people feel. Would be a great resource for PSHE lessons.

One of my teacher friends was looking for this - I didn't have it, now I do!
Great explanation of recognising emotions - in the simple way of colours.
Love the sensation of the feelings each page evokes, the multimedia based artwork is so clever, just perfect for the target audience.

Idly read as my mother works with children and had it in the house. So gentle, so lovely, so calming and instructive for children whose emotions feel confusing and messy.

We also had this one which I didn’t ask the kids to rate but it’s a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me!

I think every house hold with kids should have this book. It’s all about emotions and how emotions get muddled up and can leave you overwhelmed and confused. Then the colour monster sorts his colours (each colour is an emotion) and then he’s able to feel calmer again.
