Well..... that was quick and interesting. We meet Red, she is broke, lost her job, her boyfriend left her, generally she's not in a good place right now. She desperately needs help and reaches to her estranged grandmother. She gets an answer, one word:
"COME."So she goes... to vist her grandmother....far far away....on the Island..... But instead of her grandma, she is welcomed by BIG. BAD. WOLF. He is tall, dark and hansome. And sinfully sexy asshole, who manipulated her into coming to an Island, though her grandmother is no longer there.
It is funny reading, Red while being broke and desperate is still witty and her thoughts are amusing. But as soon as she meets Wolf, funny changes into mysterious and anticipating "bad things." And that last sexy scene... oh my poor ovaries... I want more!!!
It is very promising start to this series. I am definitely intrigued by the plot based on a fairy tale and am looking forward to what will happen next. Will Big Bad Wolf eat Little Red Riding Hood?
Off to the next one...

Red & Wolfe is a short novella about a girl named Red. She's having a hard time. After losing her mother, her boyfriend and her job, she's getting desperate. So desperate she seeks out a grandmother she's never met. She goes to visit this grandmother on her island in SC only to discover James 'Race' Wolfe.
I loved that this novella had some humor to it. It also had some sexy at the end. I'm excited to see where the story goes in part 2 and I'm grateful it's out in a few weeks!

4 Short and sweet Red meets the Big bad Wolfe stars
Sarah known as Red is an art critic at a Boston newspaper, she's good at her job, she loves writing she thrives when she writes and loves being part of a team, and well she loves Art. But she loses her job and quickly learns what it's like to be broke. Her boyfriend has also left her to be with a man yes he's leaving her gorgeous Red hair, red lips, freckles, beautiful even if she doesn't think it- I felt her beauty from within when reading her story and well her boyfriend left her to enjoy Cock... all that sum's up to being heartbroken and lonely.
She has to sell her belongings, her clothes and things eek personally that would brake my heart but I admired 'Reds' strength here and she took it all in her stride, she sold them and moved on living in a cold flat and she's struggling to pay for, so she try's to contact her long lost Grandmother wanting to find 1. family and 2. Financial security.
Enter the Big Bad Wolfe Dark, Dangerous, attractive, Arousing, Wealthy, Appealing has lived with Reds grandmother and has also lost her this past week to Cancer meaning he owns the land that he lives on, Reds grandmother left it to him but he needs family to give him the right to own it and her only left relative-Red needs to hand over the land and sign the papers in return she'll gain $30.000 dollars in return? Bit unfair you say? This is his home though and she needs Money like yesterday....
But he's offering one night for her to see how she lived, to stay at their property and maybe what she's giving up?!!
It ends abruptly but is part of a three part series of three Novellas book two's out at the end of May so not long to wait.
I really enjoyed the Red riding hood and the Big Bad Wolfe theme going on, I enjoyed the Poor heroine needing a strong Male to save her this was all that, that saying I don't trust Wolfe and I'm really looking forward to more.
This part of the BEND Anthology but being that Bend has been taken off Amazon this can now be brought as a Novella on it's own for $99 or 77p

James 'Race' Wolfe has been in seclusion for the last few years, he didn't have any reason to come to the mainland until her.
Ella James gives us a modern spin on a classic tale, Red & Wolfe is just the beginning to this intriguing story. I loved the humor in this story and how no matter how shitty things got, she dealt with it. And boy does it get bad. Ella won me over with her Love Inc series and this was such a little gem.
James is left a bit of a mystery. There is a story waiting to be told with his past and their future and I can't wait to read it!

4.5 Sexually Charged FairyTale Stars * * * *
Most of us growing up had some type fairy tales read to us...they were ways to impart lessons... written long ago by those who thought they knew best. I don't need to list them all but in this tale by Ella James, there is the structure of Little Red Ridding- hood and the Big Bad Wolf.... and boy, oh boy, does Ella work it.
We find our modern day Red in a pickle.... she is living in Boston; recently lost her newspaper position writing about the Arts. Her boyfriend left her with the $2,200. rent for her to cover on her own. She has sold almost everything she owns, applied everywhere for work and is at the point of figuring out if the weather in Florida is conducive for sleeping under the docks. During a drunken spurt of woe is me, she finally writes an email to her long lost Pulitzer Prize Winner Poet grandmother... the one that was estranged from her mom. Red had been crafting emails but never sending them since her mother's death. But just like drunk dialing or texting.... when the fingers get a mind of their own... nothing stops them from hitting that send key.
Red thinks maybe in her drunken state, sending the email wasn't such a bad idea after all... she really hasn't anything to lose... so she pursues the correct address to send a letter to Gertrude and low and behold, in the last days of poverty...she receives a deposit of cash in her account and email with one word on it from Grandma.... COME.
This changes everything... Red can stay in her apartment, buy a used car and learn about the one living relative she has.... things are changing for her.
She goes to the location of the dock where she will finally get to meet her Grandma. Gertrude lives on an island off of South Carolina and the only way to get there is by boat. As she anticipates the meeting scanning the dock, she notices a talk man coming towards her. His face is in the shadow from the baseball cap, yet there is something about it which is captivating. He calls out to her and she is hesitant.
This is where our story becomes very interesting, indeed. You see the man is actually infamous... he was accused of killing his girlfriend. It was a huge scandal but he was acquitted and disappeared from the public eye. It was a huge to-do... and Red had just seen the Dateline type of expose only a few weeks ago. His name is James Wolfe and when he disappeared, he ended up living with "Trudie", her Grandma. She, unfortunately, recently passed away leaving him the island.....but there is a hitch... and he needs Red's help in order to keep his home...Gertrude's island.
This is a delicious tale of the Big Bad Wolfe... Ms. James does things which caused me to utter No!What!OMG!..out loud... the way she just made it hot and frantic... then also left me with concerns for what was going to happen next worked...
Please Ms. James... do not make us wait too long....

Sarah aka Red is struggling with life at the moment. She lost her job and her boyfriend to another man and has no money.
Even though she desperately searches for a job, she realizes pretty fast:
Since her mother is dead her last chance is her estranged grandmother. She never met her. Somehow her mother and grandmother didn't get along well. But she is too proud to contact her.
But on one night full of
she finally emails her grandmother.
Lovely, right?
She still gets an invitation to her grandmothers island. But when she reaches it, she is surprised to find James Wolfe and not her grandmother.
I loved the short story, the humor and the sexy time in the end.
I watched Red very carefully
and just waited for her to do or say something stupid that would annoy me. But that never happened.
Well, technically it's still stupid to go on an island with a stranger. But to be honest I would have been disappointed if she just went home instead :D
Part 2 will be out May 21.

A contemporary retelling of the well-known Red Riding Hood that bares no resemblance to anything our parents ever told us about the little girl with the red hood, her grandma and the bad wolf..
You see you would love to be devoured by this wolf, James Wolfe. He is
a reclusive artist with assholish ways and many morbid secrets.
As for our Red? She is an unlucky, smartypants, with an affinity for good wine, skating and cinnamon-crusted bagels.
They will meet under false pretenses, they will dislike each other right from the first moment and they will end up craving each other like a drug! I can't wait to read the next part.
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- Dual POV.
- I totally felt Red's desperation.
- Very well written.
- Weird and so enticing.
- I would have liked it even without the sexual acts in the end, but i understand why they were important.

Very interesting start to a much liked erotic serial. There's an air of mystery here, as is often the case with island settings. I know things are just starting but Wolfe is pulling no punches, managing to seduce Red within minutes of meeting her. I really like the fairytale take on an erotic story so I'm hopeful this series will get better and better.

Red &Wolfe--Part one, can be found in the "Bend" Anthology and is a short story. It is basically about a young woman who is very down on her luck and very broke with no end in sight. She decides to get a hold of her Grandmother whom she has never met, to see if she can go visit. Instead, she gets a major amount of money deposited in her bank account, with the condition that she go to the Island immediately where her Grandmother lives. When she arrives there, she has a surprise awaiting her..
Wolfe is a man who has been accused of murder and has been living on an isolated Island for several years, with no intention of wanting to leave. Due to circumstances beyond his control, he has been told that he may have to leave the Island. The reasoning behind it, surrounds this woman named Red. He lures her to the Island in hopes of manipulating the situation to his advantage. What happens when Red and Wolfe meet? And will each of them get what they are looking for??
This is a very short novella, and if I am honest; it was just an ok read for me. I enjoyed it, but I am confident that in time I will forget most of the details of the story. It just didn't excite me in any big way. For that reason I would have to give it a rating of 2.5 stars. I will say that the writing was not the issue, and I would be more than interested to read some other work by Ella James, in hopes that maybe a different story line might intrigue me more!

UPDATE: It was so not sexy to me.
This is the second book (or installment) I've read by this author, and I didn't really enjoy it like I enjoyed Hansel Part 1. Not that it was bad or anything, but it didn't give me a thrill and I didn't care for the characters. I love the idea of Little Red Riding Hood retellings, but I seldom seem to read ones I actually really like.
I'm still looking forward to reading more of this author's work.

Not that it was bad or anything, but it didn't give me a thrill and I didn't care for the characters. I love the idea of Little Red Riding Hood retellings, but I seldom seem to read ones I actually really like.
I'm still looking forward to reading more of this author's work.

Well shit that left me wanting MORE! This was fucking brilliant! Ella, when do we get more!?
This novella packed a punch! I finished and thought "where's the rest?" I need it like yesterday! Of course I went straight to amazon and pre-ordered that baby!
We only get 4 chapters of Red & Wolfe but I felt connected to each character and that takes major talent to be able to do that in 4 chapters. This was the first time I had read Ella James, and now I am going to go buy everything she has written because she grabbed me hook,line and sinker. Well done Ella, well done!

4 Grown Up Fairytale Stars
I loved this spin on the old fairy tale...
Red is beyond desperate. After losing her job, and selling almost all other belongs she turns to her estranged grandmother. That's when she meets Wolfe, and hot damn!! Just my kind of character he is arrogant and sexy as sin...the two qualities I love most in my book men.
This is a baby book, as I like to call them and I am not sure how many are in the series. I am definitely hooked and can't wait to see how everything plays out. There are a lot of possible twists from what I have read so far, and I have a great feeling about this series.

WOW, this short story was something....Typically I know that in short stories the relationships tend to move faster than normal. But, these two move at cyber speed, lol, and they don't even like each other. I can't wait what happens in the next installments!!!

I really enjoyed this, but it was a bit on the short side and it could have used more story.
Any-howl, the above is just an observation! I did enjoy Part 1 and I can't wait to read Part 2 when it's released. My only gripe was that I thought this could have used a bit more meat n' veg and a little less poh-tah-toes.

This is the first in a series of erotic novellas by Ms. James. An extremely quick read, this book provides an introduction to Red/Sara and Wolfe, the two main characters. Since this book was so short, at approximately 50 pages, I still feel like I'm trying to get acquainted with the characters. Wolfe, in particular, is still a mystery to me.
Right from the start it is clear that Sarah is desperate and vulnerable. She's lost her job and has been unable to find a new job. Soon, she will be losing her apartment. When she sends a drunken text to her famous grandmother she isn't even expecting a response. She certainly doesn't expect to find herself face to face with Wolfe.
The chemistry is instant, as is the anger. It remains to be seen how these two will interact. For an erotic read, it could have had more erotic scenes. However, since the series is on the way, my curiosity is piqued. This book did a nice job of setting the stage for whatever comes next.
I liked the story, but didn't love it. The characters didn't speak to me the way I'd like. I might read the next one, but it'd be pretty uncomfortable. I don't have a strong opinion on this one way or another.

What I liked: Ella James can write her ass off!!! I need to read more by her. I think I have some of her stuff and it just hasn't made it to the top of my tbr yet. (As always!) I love the idea of erotic fairy tales. I liked the characters a great deal. I cannot wait to see this in a full novel!!!
What could have been better: This was obviously written with the intent for it to be a full length novel. I don't like being told I'm getting a novella when what I'm really getting is a preview of a full length book. It cut off abruptly and I felt like the one hot scene in the book was rushed because of the length of this. I could be wrong but it just happened very quickly in comparison to the rest of the book.
