Mark of the Highlander was a clever and refreshing read the infused elements of past and present, time traveling, ancient folklore, as well as second chances and making rights with one's past.

Up and coming writer, McKayla has always felt a pull and fascination for medieval Scotland. So much so that she is the newest sensation in the book world for it.

But what started out as a mere love has her time traveling back in time, where she then meets Scottish highlander Colin MacLomain, a skilled highland warrior and leader of his clan: the character from her latest book novel!!

With their two worlds colliding, what will she do?

And with past history needed to be addressed, how will things turn out?

My thoughts: Over all, I liked this book. It was fast, easy to read, and involved one hot highlander!!

The only set backs though, is that I kind of had a hard time in the beginning placing everything together and sorting all of the characters and their roles.

Otherwise, this was a very fun and entertaining read! I'm looking forward to more fun and adventure in the next book in the series!!

I bow down to the greatness that is Sky Purington! She can weave a historical romance like no other. Her characters are brilliant, the storylines amazing and have you enthralled at once, the magic and history is so good you feel you have traveled back in time to Scotland!
The MacLomain series and now this next generation are books you don't want to miss if you like sexy, historical, time travel romance with vivid descriptions of a long ago time where men where men who wore kilts and fought and died for honor, love and clans! Add in magi, worlocks, shapshifters and you have tales of long ago Scotland and Ireland.
Amazing, fantastic books! I recommend starting with the original MacLomain series as these stories, like history, are better if you start from the beginning to understand everything. They build on one another! 4.5 gloriously sexy highland stars

I absolutely LOVE the whole MacLomain Series!
This being the beginning story of the next generation. Meet Colin and McKayla ... and their story of intrigue, time travel, and romance. Sky Purington does a phenomenal job as an author. I rate her right up there with Nora Roberts. You will NOT be disappointed!

After writing a book, about a highlander, Mckayla celebrates with her friends. Trevor, her love who moved away, arrives and stays. The next day, her two cousins, Trevor and Seth, another old friend, has something truly remarkable revealed to them. Then Trevor , now highlander Colin, and McKayla make a journey, which will change all their lives.
Cannot wait to read the rest of this series.

I write this after reading this story as part 1 of "The MacLomain's Series - Next Generation ".

Modern tale... it is actually a really good story, weaving more of a modern twist. Not really my kind of thing. But an interesting read. 😊

Hard to follow

This book was hard to follow. Too many strange family members to keep up with. The overall story was good, but I won’t read the rest of the series.

The series continues to be good with the next

I have liked this series from the start. Sometimes I can be a little boggled by Purington's explanation story lines (involving the time travel), but I do my best to follow. Ex. The opening scene, which led to the time traveling with her, and getting him into all the trouble. I got the general idea, but I think perhaps maybe it could've been written a little more clear. Now for the real irritation factor, HER BOOK! Please someone explain to me why? After traveling back in time, and with worry peoples lives are on the line with the up and coming battle with evil baddie warlock...............Is the girl really still obsessing over her book and it coming out soon? Everything is about this stupid book, enough with the book. Her hero's life is in jeopardy and all she can think about is getting back to her freakin book. Our highlander Colin was wonderful of course, if a bit secretive. It was good to see some of the old MacLomains. All around I still enjoyed this as I have the previous two series. Calum's Curse is the only set of Purington's I've not had the pleasure to read yet. Though I'm sure I will eventually. Right now I will continue on to the next installment in this series. Worth a read. SPOILER ALERT Side Note: Kay's ring never change it's color to that of her true love. At least there was no mention of it changing to fit his true eye color. It reasoned the heating up part, but left the big factor of the color of the stone unanswered. Unless I missed it, I was waiting for her shocked reaction.

This was the first book in the series, and a new author for me. I enjoy a good highlander novel, and this also had paranormal touches, and time travel. I enjoyed the book, and have bought book 2 to keep reading the series. I loved the 2 main characters, and the family on both sides, of the time periods. Some have said it seemed far fetched, but these books are hardly written for anything but fun. It kept me entertained, and it was both sweet, and sexy.
