Christmas with the Knights

Rate this book
When event planner Fallon Honeywood collapses from overwork after a particularly punishing Christmas party, she reluctantly agrees to spend the holidays with her soap opera-star mother at Blakeney Hall, a grand English manor on the frosty Yorkshire moors. But what starts as an awkward family reunion soon becomes an unexpected adventure…

Fallon finds herself drawn into the charming world of the aristocratic owners of the estate – handsome widower Alexander Knight and his sensitive son Theo. As her eyes and Alexander’s meet across plans to launch his new artisanal gin business at the local Christmas Fayre, Fallon wonders if her chaotic city life might have been masking a deep loneliness she’s hidden all along…

With the help of eccentric aunt Constance Knight, a rescue donkey named Heathcliff and her adorably scruffy little dog Runcible, Fallon slowly begins to heal. But as Christmas draws near – pine needles and spicy cloves scenting the air and mistletoe festooning the doorways – Fallon faces a terrifying decision. Could this be the year she finally opens her heart? And will she choose to return to her old life in London, or find an unexpected home among the snowflake-dusted Yorkshire moors, where Christmas wishes just might come true?

A deliciously festive tale of family, romance and Christmas magic, perfect for fans of Heidi Swain and Trisha Ashley. Curl up with a mug of cocoa and lose yourself in this holiday delight!

I received a free copy of Christmas with the Kinghts, by Hannah Langdon, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Fallon Honeywood, is doing way to much. After fainting at work she decides to spend Christmas with her mom, the actress in Yorkshire. Yorkshire must be beautiful at Christmas time, what a beautiful setting to relax and take care of yourself like Fallon does. This was a nice Christmas read.

This book is like a Hallmark movie with a teeny tiny kick to it. It’s not steamy or anything like that, but it’s just not as squeaky clean as a Hallmark movie. There’s pining and romance, a strained mother-daughter relationship, and lots of lovable characters.

Something that made this one a little different than a typical romance is Fallon, the FMC, doesn’t want to be a mother, afraid she’ll be an absent mom like her own mother. So when she starts to have feelings for a single father she struggles with these feelings while trying not to get too close because she knows they could never have a relationship if she doesn’t want to be a mother or mother-like figure.

On the surface, this is a romance, but deep down it’s about repairing a broken mother-daughter relationship, finding the strength to tell a parent how you feel even if they might not like it, and learning that you are not the sum of your parent’s mistakes.

One thing I found strange was that Alexander was becoming Fallon's step-brother and she was not only having feelings for him, but it was encouraged by her mom. The ending also felt a little bit rushed to have the hea ending. But again, I still really enjoyed this book and will be recommending it to others!

Have you ever had that one book that taunts you to complete the review you've started then deleted then rewrote and deleted again? This is that book for me. I literally wrote a review, trashed it, rewrote it, trashed that version and here we are. Are you as frustrated as me?

Why was this so hard? I still have no idea. It could be that I struggled with why it wasn't perfect. I find that's always the hardest part for me to expound on. Sometimes it's in your face and so blatant you know precisely how to define it. Other times it's elusive. Like a jungle cat. You know it's there, hunting you, but you can't really see it.

So maybe we should begin with the good stuff. Fallon. I ADORED her. I love how Hannah Langdon created someone so perfectly flawed and yet so insightful and kind and confused. Fallon was really such a joy to experience and, as our FMC, was just a lovely storyteller.

Also great: Alexander. Son of the lord of the mannerI love an MMC who is loyal and emotionally stable and thoughtful. He ticked a lot of boxes for me while still be flawed, allowing him room within the novel to grow.

Theo. Alexander's son was perfection. Kids can be difficult to portray in books and with romances, they can often derail the story. Sometimes they can be so awful they ruin it. Not so with Theo. It's his presence, his energy and spirit which help drive Fallon into reexamining her life and expectations. I loved how open and brave he was. How he was unapologetically emotional. There was a softness about him which tenderized Fallon in a way she needed.

This is truly Fallon's story and it's one which covers quite a bit of ground but it's done really well. We meet Fallon on the heels of a breakdown. Her business is literally draining her life force. Being an event planner, she's constantly on the go and while it was once challenging and satisfying, it's now slowly killing her. Enter Coco, Fallon's mom, who is soap opera royalty and is heading off to the country estate of her boyfriend for the Christmas holidays and invites Fallon to use it as a way to recharge. So, with her weird little dog, Runciple, in tow, off to Yorkshire they go.

Except that Fallon and Coco have a lifetime of unresolved issues. So, it's Fallon's survival instincts which kick in upon arriving at the Knight Manor which have her quickly volunteering to help Alexander launch his craft gin. As the story progresses and Fallon in forced into new situations with and without her mother, she begins to reevaluate her priorities and scrutinizes her very firm thoughts on not wanting to become a mother herself.

It takes time for Fallon to weed through and sort out the complexities of a relationship with a narcissist, which is exactly what Coco is, and learn how to express your needs with the understanding that though they may not always be well received, they're no less relevant or necessary. Mother/daughter relationships can be complicated and this one is steeped in old hurts and resentments, but the author took her time unraveling them and allowing the FMC to examine them and how they relate to who she's become as a woman.

When authors do this well, it makes for a truly compelling read and this certainly was. I think where it lost a star was with Fallon herself. Yes, I really liked her and she was introspective in all the right ways, but there was something missing. Perhaps that's why I had difficulty beginning this review in the first place. While I so very clearly adored her, there was a stiffness about Fallon which made it difficult to connect emotionally. She took a very clinical approach to things, and while I can understand how that characteristic could manifest within a person confronted by a childhood with a narcissist, the author did little to counterbalance that with enough endearing traits for me to connect fully. I don't even know if any of that will make sense to anyone but me, but there it is.

I'm definitely interested in reading more from this author, despite the above criticism, because I really enjoyed the story and the writing, enough so that it still garnered four stars.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read an E-Arc of Christmas with the Knights. Everything in this review is based on my opinion and my opinion alone.

I liked that there were actual Christmas vibes in a Christmas book. About the characters, I did not like Fallon's mother. She was insufferable and annoying. Now, I understand that there will be characters in each book that I do not vibe with and that's one thing that I like about books. But she was that way all through the story and then at the end she tries to make everything right and tells Fallon she wants to be a better mom - Yikes! Wanted to pull my hair out. Then there's Fallon who is just a doormat for her mother's insults and insufferability. She takes it and never stands up to her. Fallon has a very negative attitude about everything and thinks that all is wrong with the world and there's nothing good.

I would have loved more in the romance department. There wasn't really any sparks that flew between our MMC and our FMC. I love a good slow burn, but there wasn't any burn at all. They went from nothing to kissing and then it was over. I would have loved some romance, some burn, anything other than what it was.

Overall, there was a want to like this book. I loved that it was a Christmas book and the concept was fun. It just didn't do it for me unfortunately.

This story was a very heartwarming Christmas romance that focused on more than just the main couple. I loved that there was a big focus on Fallon healing herself and fixing her relationship with her mother. There was a beautiful found family aspect to the story as well. I very much enjoyed this story! Thank you to Hannah Langdon, Storm Publishing, and Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Christmas With The Knights is basically a Hallmark Christmas Movie in novel form. Our workaholic, commitmentphobic heroine goes to stay in the Yorkshire country pile of her mother's fiancee, where she will learn to unwind, reconnect with her mum and fall for the widowed son of the manor and his own slightly sad son. Its main distinction is being a lot longer, which it pads out with a lot more characters, a few more side plots, and something resembling vaguely complex pathologies of her leads. Indeed I don't think Hallmark would be quite as one the nose to call its lead character Fallon Honeywell, even if the book itself accepts that there was some projection from the soap-star mother. Nevertheless its a gentle a cosy read, where the main conflict is the main character's crippling fear, and the solution is to take a bit of a leap of faith (and - unlike many a Hallmark - to not bin your stressful but rewarding career at the same time). It has a lot of modern tropes to age it - not least the romantic lead's twist on Doctor Strange's origin (rather than sorcerer supreme, our hand-damaged surgeon decides to turn to making artisinal gin). Still perfect families, and happy ending are what aspirational Christmas romances are all about and I rather enjoyed the formula being fleshed out.

Fallon Honeywood is a workaholic entrepreneur who collapses after a difficult event. Fallon's mother is a soap opera actress and they have a strained and difficult relationship. After Fallon's collapse she begrudgingly agrees to go to Blakeney Hall for the Christmas season to relax and meet the family of her mother's soon to be fiance.

While on first glance this book seems like just a forced proximity love story, I think it is truly about the healing relationship between a parent and a child.

This was a feel good holiday novel that helped put me in the holiday spirit. I enjoyed the main character Fallon and especially enjoyed the supporting characters especially Runcible and Theo. Exactly the type of story I am looking for in a holiday read.

Thank you Storm Publishing for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

A big thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me this book in exchange for an honest review.  A feel-good, festive story to savor on a cold night with a cup of hot chocolate.  It was easy to relax and enjoy (and cheer on) every single character in this book.  It was at the same time heart-warming, funny, and yet emotionally deep.  I loved watching the character growth in Fallon and her mother.  My only desire at the end was to see more romance between Fallon and Alexander.  That’s not saying that there was any lack but I just didn’t want to stop reading about them.  I recommend picking this up during this upcoming holiday season (or anytime you wish to feel the holiday cheer).

This was a wonderful, sweet, festive, gentle romance! Fallon is completely burnt out running her own very successful events business in London, and her celebrity (and often absent) mother whisks her away to Yorkshire to spend 3 weeks at her mother's boyfriend's manor house to recuperate. Fallon deals with finding out what she truly wants, having some mother-daughter bonding time with some heartfelt conversations, and falling in love with her mother's boyfriend's son. Wonderful characters and very relatable situations. I couldn't put it down!

Christmas with the Knights follows Fallon, a successful yet burnout events planner who gives her all to work. She reluctantly agrees to join her narcissistic soap actress mother at her boyfriend's country estate for Christmas. They are joined by his son, Alexander, and grandson, Theo, and later his daughter, Coco, and a mixture of family and friends. Instead of resting and recovering, Fallon instantly jumps into helping Alexander and his new business, whilst her mother encourages her to jump into bed with him. Despite this new work, plus other ventures she helps with (voluntarily or not), she apparently heals because love (and Yorkshire) conquers all.

I have mixed feelings on this. On the surface, it's an easy Christmas romance, but there are fundamental issues. Firstly, Fallon's narcissistic mother is slightly nicer and says she wants a good relationship (but still continues to use and insult Fallon) and that's apparently her great character arc? There's no actual change, acknowledgement, or apology. Fallon continues to just put up with whatever her mother wants or says, and I wish this was actually dealt with properly. Secondly, the entire book Fallon laments that she cannot be with Alexander because she would be an awful mother. At no point does she express her feelings about children outside of this (e.g. would she like children but due to her own childhood has chosen not to? All we get is the latter), and one conversation saying 'just be you' apparently assuages all doubt. Every other character seems to think she's destined to have kids and be a good mother and shed an idiot for thinking this way. Whilst it was tiring to hear this constantly as a barrier to being with Alexander, not everyone wants kids! Or multiple kids! Or to get married! But alas, this is predictable and follows the predetermined script. Thirdly, the relationship between Fallon and Alexander was pretty bland as it was pushed down our throats from his introduction and meandered to the expected point. I also can't believe that at NO point does a single character discuss the fact their parents are getting married and that's how they met, but sure yeah they fancy each other and she's not a dick to his kid so why not I guess. I also don't really like the whole insta-love angle, especially with a child involved. Overall, everything was very convenient and expected.

I did enjoy the characters, whilst stereotypical, and the interpersonal dynamics which demonstrated a different type of family to Fallon. I would've liked to see more of Coco (and tbh, if she got with Fallon instead, that would be extremely okay with me), and I loved the cute descriptions of Runciple the dog (though Fallon was very okay with leaving her dog with people she's just met repeatedly). I wish Fallon did actually engage in some time to herself to heal from burnout but of course throwing yourself into working for free and kissing an attractive man fixes everything. There were sprinkles of a Christmassy atmosphere, but it was very much a perfect fantasy of the 'countryside' and definitely could've included more Christmas charm. Overall, it was a decent, easy read if you don't think about anything too hard. I enjoyed it much more than Christmas with the Lords by the same author, and it's worth it just for the dog. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Necesita ver actos no palabras. Y no me gustó la felicidad con la que Fallon la perdonó.

A pleasant enough read but very predictable. Yet another posh estate setting with miscellaneous family members all performing an allocated role. I didn’t particularly take to the heroine, nor her mother - and the resolution of their dreadful relationship was too easy and too fast.

Also - loose ends. For one, the endlessly irritating Anabel never gets satisfactorily dealt with. I wanted a scene where she was forced to confront the reality that Alexander loved, and was going to marry someone else. Or that her behaviour was called out for the arrogant, old fashioned and stereotypical plot device that it was.

I really liked this book, the characters and its setting. I only wish that Fallon didn’t go back and forth so much about what and who she wanted in her life but it did make Alexander and Fallon’s HEA sweeter. I definitely could have used a bonus chapter of Alexander, Fallon and Theo’s life after the epilogue.

It felt cosy and warm to live through the eyes of Fallon in Yorkshire during the Christmas time. This is such a cute book for the holiday season, the characters are so supportive and kind. Her mom did wind me up more than once and I struggled a bit with her comments, but the change in their relationship was nice to see. I absolutely adored how good she was with Theo, they seemed to make a nice little dream team!

Thank you so much NetGalley for this arc, it’s been a pleasure to read 🤍

A cosy Christmas novel with old stately home grandeur and glamour combined with big characters, parties, and an ugly fabulous dog. The romance here was a little too slow-burning for my liking and I often felt exasperated with the main character putting obstacles in her own way at times. Overall though it is festive and fun and an enjoyable read

A Christmas book that started off charming and cozy but ending up a little stiff and dull.

Fallon is a very successful event planner and while she is very driven, she also never takes time for herself which leads her to become exhausted. Her mother suggests she spends Christmas away from the city with her and her new boyfriend, Douglas, his son, Alexander, and his grandson Theo to rest and relax. When they get to the estate, Fallon meets the adorable Theo and strikes up a cute friendship with the young boy but also has an attraction toward his dad, Alexander. The story progresses through all the events leading up to the nativity event in the town and eventually Christmas. Unfortunately this book didn't pack any punches and I struggled to keep reading.

First off, Fallon's mother was insufferable and although Fallon kept saying she knew how to deal with her narcissistic mother, she in fact did not, and became a doormat. Her mother threw insults at her and she just took them, she exploited her for her own good and Fallon didn't fight her on anything, just kept saying “yes” to appease her mother. It was infuriating. Then at the end, the mother says she loves her and wants to try and be better and Fallon just accepts it, Crazy! I would have liked to have her show small steps to repair the relationship before they had a heart to heart. It was very sudden and out of left field. It was not Christmas magic. The mother was overdone and so in your face with backhanded insults it was rough. I typically don't mind unsavory characters because they are there to establish why the MC is the way she is or to drive the plot forward but this did neither.

Secondly the romance between Fallon and Alexander was mild and timid. It was very forced and didn't showcase any building tension between the two. No anticipation tingles at all. I barely realized they had their first kiss because it was so anticlimactic. The best relationship in the book was between Theo and the dog.

Third, Fallon's attitude and inter struggles were so annoying. The whole “Woe is me” attitude got old really fast. Fallon was a busy and career driven people pleaser who didn't take time for herself, hence the trip away to rest and relax. Unfortunately, she didn’t solve any of her issues of overworking herself because she didn’t get any rest on vacation and started jumping in and volunteering, or being volunteered by her mother, to help with events around the holiday. She showed no growth and barely even was self aware. She did herself no favors. I would have liked her to grow a backbone and set boundaries but she just kept taking on new tasks.

I really wanted to like this book but overall I couldn't relate to the characters and the story stalled for me. This was not my cuppa coffee.

Book Review: Christmas with the Knights by Hannah Langdon

Rating: 3 Stars

I recently had the pleasure of reviewing Christmas with the Knights, and I have to say, it’s a cozy read that brings the holiday spirit right to your living room. The story follows Fallon Honeywood, an overworked event planner who hits her breaking point after a whirlwind Christmas party. In a rather reluctant turn of events, she finds herself at Blakeney Hall, her mother’s boyfriend's grand manor in the picturesque Yorkshire moors. This family reunion is anything but smooth, as Fallon navigates the awkwardness of her relationship with her soap opera-star mother.

As the plot unfolds, Fallon becomes involved with the charming aristocratic Knight family—particularly the handsome widower Alexander and his sweet son, Theo. There’s a budding romance that ignites between Fallon and Alexander while they work together to launch his artisanal gin business at the local Christmas Fayre. Throughout this journey, Fallon starts to confront some of her own deeper issues, particularly loneliness, which she had been masking with her busy city life.

The story is filled with delightful characters, including Fallon’s quirky aunt Constance and a rescue donkey named Heathcliff, which add a nice touch of whimsy to the narrative. As Christmas approaches, the enchanting atmosphere of the manor and the festive scents wafting through the air create a warm backdrop for Fallon’s personal transformation. The question lingers: will she choose to return to her bustling London life or embrace a new beginning in this snowy wonderland?

Overall, I genuinely enjoyed this book. It had all the festive vibes I was looking for, and I found the romance and side characters quite engaging. However, I wasn't completely sold on Fallon or her mother—something about their dynamic just didn’t sit right with me. That said, Theo was an absolute gem; his character brought so much warmth and charm to the story.

In conclusion, Christmas with the Knights is a delightful read for anyone looking to get lost in a festive tale filled with heartwarming moments and a sprinkle of romance. While it may not be perfect, it certainly has its charm and might just leave you feeling a little more festive!

Christmas with the Knights is a charming, festive romance with heartwarming moments and a touch of family drama, perfect for the holiday season. If you’re a fan of cozy, feel-good reads that balance romance with personal growth, this one is for you!

Fallon Honeywood, an overworked event planner from London, is reluctant to spend the holidays with her soap-opera diva mother at a Yorkshire manor. But this forced break offers her more than just time to decompress—it becomes a chance to confront her complicated relationship with her mother and her own fears about love, family, and motherhood. Fallon is hesitant to embrace her feelings for Alexander, a single father she meets at the manor, because she’s unsure if she’s cut out to be a mother or a mother-like figure.

The novel does a great job of weaving in deeper themes alongside the romance, like the strained mother-daughter dynamic and Fallon’s personal journey of self-discovery. I particularly appreciated Fallon’s growth throughout the book—her transformation from a burned-out career woman to someone who starts to see herself beyond the shadow of her mother's mistakes was touching. And the side characters, like Theo, Alexander's son, and the lovable rescue animals, added an extra layer of warmth to the story.

That said, the pacing felt a little rushed toward the end, and I would’ve loved more Christmas scenes to really embrace the holiday spirit. Some parts of the romance, particularly with Fallon and Alexander’s budding relationship, could’ve been fleshed out a bit more. Despite these minor issues, the story was still a delightful read.

Overall, Christmas with the Knights is a sweet, heartfelt story that will definitely put you in the Christmas mood, with themes of healing, family, and love at its core.

Thank you to NetGalley, Hannah Langdon, and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Hannah Langdon follows up last year's delightful Christmas romance, Christmas with the Lords, with another charming holiday novel, Christmas with the Knights. Fallon owns a London event planning business, where she has a tendency to take on too much rather than letting her two excellent employees relieve her of some of her responsibilities. As a result, she is exhausted and at the point of collapse.

So she agrees to join her glamorous soap opera star mother, Jacqueline, in Yorkshire to spend the holidays at her aristocratic beau's beautiful estate. Fallon and Jacqueline haven't gotten along for years, as Jacqueline has always put a higher priority on her career than on her daughter. Even so, Fallon finds the change of venue healing, as she voluntarily lends her expertise to help the lord's handsome widowed son Alexander prepare his new business of artisanal gin for presentation at a Holiday Fayre, and to assist Alexander's half-sister in breaking into the catering business. Alexander was a prominent surgeon before an accident ended his career, and he is the single parent of 9-year-old son, Theo, who struggles with some social issues. Naturally, there is an attraction between Fallon and Alexander, but although she also adores Theo, Fallon has convinced herself she can never be a good mother because of the poor example her mother has set.

The characters of Alexander, the adorable Theo, Fallon's coworkers, and others in the Knight family are well drawn and relatable. I also enjoyed other plot details, including a bird sanctuary and a rescue donkey. And the holiday feeling in the small Yorkshire town is heartwarmingly described. My only issues are with Jacqueline, who seems to change her attitude toward motherhood too quickly, and the Fallon/Alexander relationship, which isn't as convincing (particularly during a short time period) as I would have liked. But it is a quick, pleasant read for the Christmas season, and I enjoyed it very much.

If you’ve ever thought "Wow, my family is a lot during the holidays," let me introduce you to the Knights—who, in true rom-com fashion, make Christmas feel like an Olympic-level endurance event. Christmas with the Knights is a festive, family-fueled romance that drops our poor heroine, Kate, into the kind of overwhelming holiday gathering that requires both caffeine and an escape plan.

Kate is bringing her best friend Jamie home for Christmas. Totally normal. Totally fine. Except… her family has decided that they’re a couple, and the more Kate insists they’re just friends, the more everyone nods like she’s a delusional rom-com protagonist. (Which—spoiler alert—she absolutely is.) Meanwhile, Jamie is walking around being suspiciously perfect—helping out in the kitchen, charming the elders, and generally making it very hard for Kate to maintain her “he’s just my friend” stance. Cue the relentless matchmaking, forced proximity, and enough Christmas cheer to suffocate even the most emotionally unavailable person.

Kate is peak I am emotionally repressed but please don’t call me out on it, and Jamie? Oh, Jamie is the walking definition of patience. The chemistry is chef’s kiss, with the kind of slow burn that makes you want to shake them both and scream, "JUST KISS ALREADY!" The family chaos is both hilarious and slightly stressful—like watching a sitcom where you know someone’s about to say something wildly inappropriate at dinner.

This one is all about warmth, laughter, and the undeniable magic of everyone knowing you’re in love before you do. It’s low on spice, high on charm, and perfect for anyone who loves meddling families, slow-burn romance, and Christmas chaos wrapped in a bow.

This was a fun read – full of the Christmas spirit as well as addressing some realistic human dilemmas in relationships, love, and loss.

Teetering on the brink of severe burnout, Fallon Honeywood reluctantly takes time off from her flourishing London-based event planning business to accompany her soap opera diva mother to a Yorkshire manor for the holidays. This lovely setting in the moors not only gives her time to decompress and heal from her overextension at work, but also offers opportunities to address deeper issues related to her rocky relationship with her overly critical, manipulative mother and her skewed perceptions of her own ability to love and be loved.

While Fallon’s transformational journey may be predictable and a bit rushed, it was nonetheless entertaining with a host of supporting characters including Runcible, her adorably ugly dog, and Heathcliff, a rescue donkey with a penchant for carrots. I thoroughly enjoyed Fallon’s relationship with Theo, a young boy traumatized by his parents’ divorce and his mother’s subsequent death. His involvement in the animal sanctuary added a touching dimension to the storyline. There are a few irritating characters thrown into the mix for the necessary drama – Fallon’s mother who set my teeth on edge every time she interacted with her daughter and Annabel, an attractive, haughty pursuer of the handsome widower who resides at the manor.

Overall, this was a solid, entertaining read leading into the holiday season.

My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Hannah Langdon for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for Christmas with the Knights coming out October 24, 2024. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I was excited for the Christmastime vibes. I thought it would be a little more cozy. I think there was a lot going on in the book and it was a little confusing. I enjoy the Yorkshire setting. It felt very Christmas-like. But overall, I couldn’t relate to the characters as much as I wanted. Others might enjoy this.

This was a very cute story!! Fallon is a very talented and busy party/event planner business owner. She works so hard and on the brink of a breakdown when her business partner Sam tells her she needs a break. It just so happens that her mother Jacqueline is going to be staying for the holiday season in a small town where her boyfriend Douglas lives and invites her to come with for a break and she accepts! While there she meets some amazing people Alexander and Theo Douglas’s son and grandson. Theo’s been having a hard time since his mom has past and finds that everyone tries to baby him except Fallon(mostly because she doesn’t want or like children her words) She treats him like she would anyone and he really takes to her! Alexander is starting a gin business and asked for some help with his opening event and she is super excited to work! They spend lots of time together working on his project and fall in love! The Christmas season together is terrific and busy!
Amongst all that we’re introduced to slot of side characters that are amazing! We have her funny dog Runcible who absolutely wins Theo’s heart, Aunt Constance the quirky archeologist/author and comic relief, Coco the fun-loving half sister who befriends Fallon first, Sam her great and supportive business partner and Heathcliff the donkey who is everyone’s sounding board and confident!
Oh I took a point off because of the third act break up but really Fallon just needed to wake up and realize that she deserves to be happy, loved and a loving Mom in her own way!

If you love the idea of spending Christmas in the UK as much as I do, reading this wonderful story is the next best thing to being there. I really enjoyed Langdon’s 2023 Christmas offering, Christmas with the Lords, so I was excited to read this one. Although there isn’t as much humor, it’s still another heartwarming romance between the lord of the manor and a Londoner who desperately needs the escape and joy that a celebration of the holiday in the English countryside can provide.

Fallon is a highly successful, workaholic event planner who’s burned out and in need of a restful vacation. Instead, she accompanies her self-absorbed, neglectful soap opera mother to her soon-to-be stepfather’s country estate for three weeks around Christmas. There she meets his gorgeous son, Alexander and precocious grandson, Theo, who are both dealing with their own issues. Rather than taking it easy, Fallon agrees to plan her mother’s engagement party and work with Alexander to help launch his artisanal gin business at the annual village Christmas Fayre. As the days pass, Fallon begins to fall for this father and son but doesn’t see a future since she doesn’t want children, believing she’ll be as bad a mother as hers was. However, the appealing beauty of the Yorkshire moors, the warmth of the quirky extended Knight family (including eccentric Aunt Constance and effervescent sister Coco), and her mother’s apologies and efforts to heal their relationship help ease her loneliness and make her question if the frenetic pace of London is sustainable or even desirable.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story which checks all the boxes for a cozy, clean Christmas romance. The only problem I had was Fallon’s negativity and hurtful decisions she made out of fear. All’s well that ends well, though, so I definitely recommend this charming holiday offering.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Storm Publishing through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

I discovered this book in an email about another book. It was a delightful story! I liked the characters and the setting was wonderful. I'm going to check to see if I missed a book or two at the beginning of the series. Can't wait to read another one from this author.

Amazon synopsis:
When event planner Fallon Honeywood collapses from overwork after a particularly punishing Christmas party, she reluctantly agrees to spend the holidays with her soap opera-star mother at Blakeney Hall, a grand English manor on the frosty Yorkshire moors. But what starts as an awkward family reunion soon becomes an unexpected adventure…

What a totally enjoyable book.

Theo is an absolute star, and I loved how Fallon (who feels she knows nothing about children) is able to connect with him really easily, and in just the way that Theo responds too. And seeing how he developed over the course of this story really made me smile.

Fallon is on the verge of burnout from event planning (funnily enough, the second book in a row I read with that premise - but that is where the similarities end), and possibly against her better judgment agrees to spend a few weeks in Yorkshire with her mother, who is a soap star, and Douglas her boyfriend. And in the big manor house there is also Alexander and son Theo.

Over the course of her stay, more and more people start staying in the house and she can't quite let go of her workaholic tendencies and thus agrees to help out with various things, along with her dog Runcible who seemed quite sweet.

There is artisan gin, there are all manner of Christmas events, a James Bond themed party, relationships between Fallon and her mother are worked on, and there is a whole lot more besides.

This was an incredibly entertaining story, that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. This is the second book I've read from this author and will definitely be keen to read more.

Thank you to Storm Publishing and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily,
