I don't normally provide written reviews but for a 5 star (which I do not give out often) it is definitely needed.

The whole series has been a wonderful read. I love the whole family that the FMC has adopted. Her nexus and their journey has been so much fun to experience. If you liked the broken bonds series, this is a great series to pick up and fill that hole. I would highly recommend if you are a why choose romantasy person.

Spoilers!!
This book had me EMOTIONAL, especially CC's storyline. Once everything came out, I think I cried every time he made an appearance. Just the love for the FMC and her truly experiencing it and remembering. But also everything that CC gave up to save the realm and ensure the success for the FMC and MMCs.

I can't wait for the last book but will be so sad to say goodbye to these amazing characters and world.

I honestly was really excited with the first few books in this series but at this point I'm not really sure where it is going and it getting a little... bland? Everything just seems to work out so well for Willow and her Nexus now whether it be mastering some crazy power (oh surprise she has yet another power that she just masters almost instantly) or someone they encounter just magically being related to another member of the family and joining them. There is no struggle and feels like... the people they were at the beginning of their journey has been lost.

I will say though, learning about CC in greater detail was my favourite part of this book. It really tied a bunch of things together.

This book had me crying for almost an hour straight. Then it had me crying again off and on later in the book. It had my attention almost constantly. This series is 5 books long, so I won't bother doing a review for this particular book.

The only negative thing I have to say about this book is that it could use some more editing. The wrong words were used at times (options instead of opinions, for example), a character's name was spelled wrong once or twice, etc. If not for this, I would have rated this book a solid 5 stars! (If I could do partial reviews, it would be 4.75.)

This story grabs you from the very first part. I couldn't put it down until I was finished with it. Willow is the best along with her Nexus. Sexy and WOW.

2.5 ⭐️

Disclaimer: I’m going to review it without spoilers at the top, then create a line and anything below that line will be spoilers. Do with that what you will.

Overall, this movie was just a disappointment. The beginning was SO GOOD and then it just got dull until the very end. I felt like this book should have been the final vs making another book. I cried SO MUCH in this book. Like uncontrollable sobbing. But there was also just so much of the book where it just felt disjointed and like the plot was illogically being extended. Still some stunning/healing moments in the plot though.

What I liked:
- The first 20% of the book was EMOTIONAL and had me sobbing like a fool.
- I love how interconnected everything is.
- CC’s chapter had me SOBBING
- The expansion of powers and the uniqueness in the real.
- Willow is giving sassy several times in this book and I love it

What I didn’t like:
- This book just drug on. Like I mentioned, the beginning was fantastic. As was the ending. But I felt like the plot lost its oomph in this book and it felt like everything was being drug out. So many events are happening and without the Summum-Master (or whatever tf he’s called) doing anything. This is the main reason this book got rated poorly. I had to limp along and just power through to read the book. Which is too bad because there are some amazing moments in the book and I bawled quite a bit.
- Misogyny. There’s so many reasons why Primaries are the best and yet the men just hold them back. Both with these characters but within the society as a whole too.

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
—————————————————————

What I liked:
- Chapter 1 just threw you in the emotional deep end immediately. Her feeling like she’s being electrocuted, her memories resurfacing of CC when she was 6 (and violently), CC being the boys’ uncle, her screaming at Captain to bring her to the south wing, the ward imploding, Gaster getting sucked into the ward with her, their bond reconnecting with CC…it was just emotion after emotion and I was sobbing consistently for the first 90+ pages of the book.
- I love how interconnected everything is. Corentin’s lavender shirt making her favorite dress, Tillman making both the dress and the wooden box, Caspian writing the book of shadows she read, Gaster making her necklace, how Corentin needed to dismiss his uncle…all of this being orchestrated by CC. It was just so profound and left such a lasting impression for Willow while growing up.
- My god, CC’s chapter is so fucking sad 😭 all the interconnectivity, him knowing he’s going to die, doing it anyway when there’s an option he could live because it’s the only way to see everything play out properly. It really just showcased his love for his realm, Willow, the boys, etc.
- Draken’s dedication to Layton is insanely cute. It’s the character development we hope for many characters in other books and never see. But in this one, we do.
- Osteokinesis is such a unique and awesome power. He can fuck a person’s body up but also be a chiropractor lol.
- Corentin using his powers to make multiples of him. Also, when he used this for his sex scene 👀
- Keeper & Dyce creating a friendship and fighting over who gets to kill Mastery members. And Dyce crossing his arms and throwing a fit. It’s such a wholesome, cute thing.
- Gima getting exactly what that dumb bitch deserves 👏🏼
- Tillman opening up about his mother and how he stayed with his fathers until they died. Like my god, was this sad 😭
- The mom flashback with CC and finding out what filia mea means was so cute. Him worried he’s stealing something from her since she can’t be Willow’s mother and her happy that her daughter has someone to care for her since she won’t be able to. Also, finding out she’s pregnant with Lyker and throwing a pot at one of her men and realizing she was hormonal when that happened and she didn’t miss was funny.
- Very curious what a vampire bestowing means for Draken.

Favorite quotes:
- “This is so fucking cool,” I holler, picking Willow up and crashing her into the center of my brothers. “I’ve been inside all of you.” // Ya’ll the comedy of Draken can be so fucking hilarious. It’s just his powers but the sexual innuendos are hilarious. Also, I wouldn’t mind a gay moment even though I know we won’t get it.
- “Nevermind, I don’t give a fuck” after any last words to Gina before killing her was iconic.
- “Her,” he whispers. “That bitch is still out there, believing she can do whatever she pleases to me. Believing she has some right or claim to me. I am not hers to claim. My soul is already owned.” // I LOVE when a guy admits he’s owned vs when a woman does it. Caspian is consistently my favorite guy and this just reiterated it. Also, Willow getting possessive afterwards with her “Who. Owns. Your. Soul.” comment. Own that man babyyyyy.
- Let me just stir the pot before I take my nap. Then when I wake up, they’ll be all kinds of obsessed with me. “Well, do I get a kiss before I take a nap with two other men or what?” // SCREAMING this is so funny and sassy.
- If these men thought for a second that I didn’t or don’t decide when enough is enough, they’re wrong. // she’s such a badass in this moment and I love when she commands her men to cum.
- “I don’t love my father. My other one.” “I think you’re the realms greatest dad” // SOBBING 😭 CC needed this so much, as did Willow. It’s such a heartfelt moment.
- “I love you too, CC.” And that was the first time she ever said it back to me. // Again, I’m sobbing. Why is this so cute!? His life is cut short and yet this just makes everything so much better because even though it’s by bond, he has a daughter. And she truly recognizes him as her father even when her true father is so heinous.

What I didn’t care for:
- I’m so confused about CC being called CC by his actual family + Gaster but no one ever made the connection to Willow’s CC? This is a massive plot hole that they never really explained. I know memories were taken but was his nickname taken too? When it was such an integral part of Gaster and how he named him?
- The misogyny of not allowing completed nexuses within the EF because he (Corentin) doesn’t want women to get captured. As if they didn’t just prove that completed ones are much stronger or have more benefits because of the sharing of powers. It’s such a miss and feeds into the “women are weak” vibe that I get from the book even though they are integral to the success of Nexuses and Willow is as powerful as she is.
- Oakley’s capture just felt forced for some reason. I don’t know why but it did. Then they get her back and she’s burning and they have water elements and they aren’t putting her on ice and cooling her? Like please use your brains.
- The ending just flopped. Like yall are in the human realm now? It’s just…meh.

I absolutely loved this book! Finally, the deepest secrets — the ones holding everything together — are revealed. Old memories that had been hidden resurface, bringing with them new challenges Willow must face. Everything in this series is so thoughtfully built and layered that every detail carries weight and meaning. I adore the growing sense of family that’s formed — not just between Willow and the guys, but also with their friends and all the people Willow has “adopted” along the way. The guys are incredible — a constant source of support, strength, and emotional grounding for Willow. I can’t wait to read the final book and see how everything wraps up as they face the ultimate battle against their most dangerous enemy.

Writing/Plot: The writing continues to be intense, blending emotional depth with high-stakes fantasy. The pacing slows down slightly here, allowing space to explore past memories and introduce new challenges — but the tension and stakes are still very much present. The plot is rich with twists, and the gradual unraveling of layered truths and long-buried memories makes for a truly compelling storyline.
Characters: Willow is no longer guessing who she is — she’s reckoning with it. The emotional whiplash of that rediscovery is so well-executed. Each member of the Nexus is forced to confront their role in the larger picture, and their individual growth feels more nuanced than ever. No one gets to sit on the sidelines here; everyone is impacted.
Relationships: The bond between Willow and the guys is stronger than ever. It grows deeper with each chapter—there’s real weight behind every conversation, every moment of intimacy or conflict. Now, there’s an undeniable sense of unbreakable family between them. The guys are more protective and possessive than ever, constantly carrying the fear of losing her. And Willow is no different—she’s ready to do whatever it takes to protect the people she loves.
Worldbuilding: Elementra’s world becomes even more vivid and terrifying in this book. The history and the past are brought to light, offering a clearer sense of the immense power that has been quietly shaping everything from the shadows.

Interesting but slow

This took me a while to get through. There was only a small bit of movement towards defeating the summon master, and a lot of world building, descriptions and endless conversations. Plus chapters of Willow and the guys doing the horizontal tango. Willows grandfather is the summon master and he has a storage of her blood, which they need to destroy. The ending caught my attention, I didn’t think they were going back to the non magical world, where she grew up. Something to do with her tree.
I’m so glad she got to learn who CC really was and it was as I suspected who it was. Getting to read his memories of her mother almost brought me to tears. The heart break. I feel like Willow got a bit of closure, she got to know her mom through the words on her journal. Thanks to Elementra. I am curious as to how she is going to defeat this uber bad guy and all his minions. Seems like the whole world is on them, trying to tear them all down, calling Willow a safety hazard, to discredit their united true primary nexus bond. Hopefully it’s something good and worth reading all the horrid negatives that Willow has to go through in order to succeed. Willow and her guys deserve it. I also hope the last book is the end.

Phew 🥵 Buckle up…here we go!

I can’t, I just can’t - how can Willa write like this?! 😍 She had me captivated at book 1; I am in this for the long haul and as the books roll out I am never disappointed, you will not be either!

Not really been into romantasy but I am hooked and feel this is a new genre I have to dive into! Her writing wraps around my brain and the story unfolds in my mind and I absolutely love it! Every single detail she gives helps build the picture of the scenes and I see them in real time as I read and become engrossed in the world of Elementra 💜

This book again sees the characters develop, Willa just casually 💁🏼‍♀️ throws in so much more and the back stories of some of the MMC’s come through too I literally couldn’t put it down and I am seriously considering quitting my job and becoming a full time trader if anyone would consider paying me?! Ha!

Honestly, with the perfect amount of hot 🥵 spice 🌶️, touch her and 💀, touch him/them and 💀, found family and angst, this reverse harem/why choose, dark, romantasy series is a 1000% worth it 💜

Good Read

I was initially late coming into this series but I’ve waited eagerly over the past couple of weeks for this book to release and OMG it was just fantastic! So much happened, so many questions were answered, and the book ended on another jaw dropping cliffhanger. The story had me on many ups and downs and I feel like this book was more of an emotional read than its predecessors. By this point in the series I absolutely love the characters in this book, I love reading about them and I’m always anticipating what next bit of information will be revealed that will draw me further into their story. I’m also curious at this point as to whether the author intends to expand this series into spin offs about the other realms because I really think I’d love to read about them. This book really was an epic read and I’m really looking forward to the final book in the series.

No no no ahhhhh

Willa Rae you do not leave us like that 😡

I was like "oh I'm so happy it's finally time to find out everything" and I just stomping my bloody feet now and holding my breath till you put the next book out 😱😤

In all honesty though, it's a hell of a series and they are good long books each with lots of good and exciting info packed into every page so I can't grump too much. I'm just being greedy.

The series is hard hitting with a lot of death and heartbreaking issues for us, a lot of cruelty but also lots and lots of love and happiness too.

I love CC and I'm so glad she got that person through her life to love her, I'm also very glad she got to know about her Mum and her Husbands too. It was lovely and really choked me up while she was reading the book next to her tree.

It's a brilliant series that I could quite happily read another 10 books of the same characters.

I still love this series

This addition felt a little bit like a filler… not much action happened but a lot of history and world building went down. I still love this series and can’t wait for the next book, I just don’t think this book was as good as the previous in the series.

The character development, as always, was spectacular. I feel like Willa Rae really knows how to showcase a persons trauma and how they overcome it without it feeling like they moved on too easily or quickly. It’s done in a realistic way and I really appreciate that.

I am finding this story to be quite interesting and I haven’t read another like it. Sometimes I find in the fantasy genre there can be a lot of the same stuff in books, but not this one. I’m really enjoying the author’s originality with the plot.

I really enjoyed the first books in the Source of Elementra series, but this one started off a bit slow for me. While the plot remains intriguing and well-written, it felt more like a filler in some parts. Maybe I waited too long to read it and lost some of the momentum, but hopefully, it’s just me!

That said, the main character was incredibly relatable, and I appreciated how her journey proves that women can embrace both femininity and strength while overcoming severe trauma. Plus, who doesn’t love a mix of dragons, vampires—and a grandpa who steals the show?

Also, let’s talk about the spice! The dynamic between the wolf and elemental magic brought just the right amount of heat to keep things exciting.

Overall, it’s still a solid addition to the series, and I’m curious to see where the story goes next!

She does it again!

I don’t know how Willa Rae keeps doing it but she has you hooked from the get go in every book. I was completely hooked by the beginning of the 1st book and I’m still hooked and completely invested in this series. I never want it to end. Willow, her Nexus, Oakley, her nexus and Gaster all of them have became a part of me. They are embedded deep in me and will never leave. The story has you feeling all the feelings. A few spicy scenes that are quite yummy but the storyline, the suspense, the dedication and devotion keeps you wanting more and more. She has a fan for life that’s for sure and I highly, highly recommend reading this series.❤️

wow!🥰🥰🥰🥰

This is one of the best series I have ever read! It will now be in my top 5 favorite author and series. I can’t believe this is Will Rae debut well done and thank you. I haven’t cried or laughed and everything in between in a series since zodiac academy, which is also top 5. Source of Elementra is beautifully written the characters are amazing from her nexus to her found family I absolutely love how fleshed out everything is. The details and world building are amazing and I can not wait to read the final of this series. I truly hope we get more from this author and the world she has built it is absolutely remarkable.

Wish I had more stars to give

These books, man. I love so much about them. This story is heavy - heavy enough that I can't devour them in a day like most - but so good. I'm dehydrated from how much crying I've done. Everything is so well thought-out and the world building is exceptional. I feel like I could crawl into the story and live there. We are several books into this story and I don't feel like it's getting boring at all. My only complaint is that I have to wait for the next one!

Mind blown!!

This world never ceases to amaze me!! I am blown away time and time again reading this series. I love how unpredictable this story is and how Willow takes the time to learn and to feel everything going around her. I cried alot reading this book, in good and bad tears. The passion and spark between the characters and the storyline was intensifying and I crave more! I absolutely need the 5th book right now! That cliffhanger sucked me in and I will be thinking bout it for a long time.

You really know how to get me with those cliffhangers

Another great addition to the series. But yet another book that needs a serious edit for typos etc. Please.
Less steam in this one as the plot thickens and so much is happening, but I honestly don't mind because it tends to be relevant for the relationships, not just for the sake of steam. Can't wait to see how this series ends!

I hate it when I get so far in a series but can’t seem to make it to the end - it’s like despite all the bangs it ends in a whimper. I’m afraid this is another one, despite enjoying the series so far where I was just getting irritated, which defeats the point of reading for pleasure. I think it was the protagonist being just a little too soft and the plot being twisty without substance maybe? Not sure, even the big reveals didn’t help

The constant grammatical errors and misspellings take away from the story. The concept of the story itself, is so, so good, and I can’t stop reading. The way in which the story is written, the grammatical errors, and the fact that all of the characters voices sound the same, distracts from a really great idea. I truly wish that this author would get an editor onto her work, and release this series again once all the books have been edited

Book 4 is here and let me tell you it was so so so good.

Willa has done it again and wrote a book that had me in a choke hold from beginning to the end. We get some much needed answers in this book, along with so much growth from these characters. It was the perfect setup for the finale. I cannot wait for book 5.

Willow is back

Willow and her guys, Gaster, Oakly with her guys, Keeper and Aurora with her guys and CC is all back to throw us further in to the story to save everyone. In this story the author yet again made my eyes water because of the love and sadness in the story. I can't wait for next book, and she want can top this and how it all will end.

If any of the other 3 books made you cry, bring extra tissues. My kids kept asking if I was ok, I couldn’t exactly explain to them but they hugged me (hahaha)and told me it would be. Yes, yes it will and I cannot wait for book 5 to see it through.

I think this series so far has been my favorite this year.

Outstanding Story!!!!!!

Oh my this series just keeps getting better and better. There are so many twists and turns in this story. We learn so much and yet we still have so many questions. It is extremely well written and developed. It pulls you in and keeps you glued to it. Then we get to that extremely big cliffhanger and I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next.

Gate keeper

There is so much going on in this series that I already know I'm going to have reread it. Willow is powers are so strong, and she is basically the keeper of the gates. I'm not sure the ending of this book is where they want to be. Only the next and last book will tell.

These books would be five stars for me if the writing was tighter, the editing better, and everything just a bit more polished. I don't mean the small mistakes here and there, I mean the pacing, the lack of proper plot/climax, the excess fluff, the sometimes strange word choices.

It took awhile to get into, but the action picked up nicely and we are seeing some good growth from the characters. That said, I would have been happy to have release delayed a little if it meant the book went through more rigorous copy editing. There are quite a few noticeable typos.
