A zany romantic comedy starring a duke’s daughter, who’s more of a fighter than a lady, and a prince who happens to be into that!
With everything sorted out at home in Muro, newly engaged Maria is ready to head back to the nation of Rubini, where her fiancé, Prince Renato, awaits. She's even patched things up with her father, who wasn't sure how to treat her after he disinherited her in favor of her baby brother. All's well that ends well!
It should be a quick and easy trip back, but along the way Maria encounters some troubled villagers and hears about a missing girl. Of course that means she has to stop and help them! What spirited young lady could sit still after hearing that? Prince Renato's just going to have to wait, because Maria has a rescue mission to carry out first!
I LOVED seeing Mimi in her element and beating people up, even if that sounds bad to say! LOL! However, the reason she DID beat them up was absolutely hilarious and was a first for me to ever see something like that in shoujo manga!
On the flip side, I really enjoyed seeing the softer sides of Mimi and how she is thankful that Prince Renato wants to protect her. I'm glad that she is willing to let him "take charge" so to speak in that she can rest and enjoy being by his side without having to always protect him. I think it really goes to show that women can be strong physically and mentally, but also can be "soft" so to speak without being any less of a woman. Truly a great message to see represented in this story!
Outside of Mimi beating up a bunch of "bad guys," hands down my favorite part was seeing Prince Renato in action!! That double-page spread was AWESOME!! I went back to it numerous times when reading just so I could reexperience that moment all over again! Very very cool!
I liked the ending and very much appreciated how Mimi made it known to Prince Renato that she WANTS to be with him. I get where Prince Renato is coming from, but I'm with Mimi because what woman would do all she has done if she didn't love him?!
Eagerly looking forward to the next volume because I continue to have such a great time reading this series!
Mimi heads back to Rubini after staying with her family, but something doesn’t sit well with her about the kidnapped village lady. She decides to detour and figure out if the nobleman is holding the young girl hostage since she realizes she can investigate sooner than the royal knights can. She takes some villagers along to the noble’s estate and breaks in while all the men cause a distraction at the gate. Using her family’s secret techniques, Mimi sneaks around the house, employing her self-defense hair ornament, aka the Knuckle-Duster, only when absolutely necessary.
The humor and over-the-top reactions in this series continue to be my favorite. Mimi is definitely one to act first, think later, which nearly has consequences in this volume. Raimondo, Prince Renato’s advisor, is so serious and such a good balance to Mimi’s bombastic personality. Having the two of them flit about Renato like the angel/devil combo is wonderful, even though it's more like impulsive/sensible side of his conscience. This is a romance story at its core, but there is a lot of humor and a strong female lead that will appeal to young readers.
The hilarious entertainment continues as Mimi sets off to return to the capital, with a slight detour to see how the chief's daughter is faring. Once again, she dives into something full force and may not actually have all the pieces together. Luckily, she has more than a few new friends and admirers to help out when things get dicey. We even have some rather sweet moments with Prince Renato when he rejoins the main storyline, though it seems his aid may also be aiding in blocking some of their romance while also keeping watch over the duo.

Oh my gosh, this is such a fun series. Lots of action for the action types and yet funny, sweet, and sentimental at times too. And romantic. Can't forget the romance. The two main leads are so cute together, and I like all the characters' personalities. The story is a little over the top at times but that is the nature of this type of story. Looking forward to the next volume and what troubles, challenges, and the two main characters' growth will be like as they grow closer.
Still fun and silly, just a touch less than previously.
Recap: farewell to family, side quest to the village and break in to the count’s house, Veronica is there, bandits are there, Renato and knights show up at the right time, date night where Mimi says she wants to marry Renato.
